00:02:30Which means a racer wins a round, they now get 15 points instead of 10.
00:02:36Team Kai is coming into the event sitting on top of the leaderboard, but it is tight at the top.
00:02:41The gap between first and fifth is only 260 points.
00:02:46There are still enough points up for grabs for any of the top teams to make a run and take over that number one spot.
00:02:52And with the big name trade that Kai and Ryan made last week,
00:02:55I bet Shawn is still thinking about how he can get himself Scott Taylor.

00:11:08With this event being points and a half, every driver in the field will earn 15 points just
00:11:13for making it into the first round.
00:11:15But these captains know they got to move as many drivers as possible into the later rounds
00:11:20in order to stay in contention for the championship.
00:11:23As you can see, we have a group of drivers here on the starting line.
00:11:27This group of drivers is the 32 drivers that will be competing for $40,000 today.

00:24:04new so we can't really run it exactly how we would normally run it but we kind of know about where

00:30:43but uh hey eventually you're gonna have to draw somebody fast and uh i think we got the car that
00:30:48can beat him i'm gonna try to leave on him and uh if i can leave on him i think we got to cover

00:32:04like 1300 last time i went up all day so today is the official invitational day the rain has passed
00:32:13we got some cloud cover it's actually pretty chilly out good temps for nitrous cars we like to go fast in
00:32:19that okay going in love you of course we go out for first round of chip draw and i get damon merchant
00:32:29first round damon was definitely not the one i wanted to draw first round for invitational especially
00:32:34he's on our team and you know he's fast
00:32:39it don't sound right does it it don't sound right does it it sounded right there it didn't sound
00:32:50right on idle it sounded like it was missing a couple
00:33:00nah she would never come up here hurt on purpose pat would never do that sounds better now
00:33:06damnin merchant in the right lane lizzie over here in this left lane pat and you see the brakes
00:33:27the car made a phenomenal pass so i'm super pumped about that the guys been working their ass off
00:33:54um and we're heading in the right direction right now we've got a hot rod that can win this thing
00:33:59good job on that tree did i get it yeah it didn't shift so it really didn't no he said
00:34:12yeah i don't know what the hell's going on not having any luck i can tell you sometimes i'd rather

00:34:30events in a row so and that's not typical for us we'll at least go a couple of rounds you know

00:35:09he's been running away with this deal this year and we need to go get him and this is our chance to
00:35:13make a big move so all it's going to take is a couple of us to get in the finals which means we got to
00:35:17have good cars that run good we stay away from each other
00:35:30we're in north carolina getting ready to run the first round of the invitation we made it in yesterday
00:35:36we're drawing ryan martin first pass and ryan's strong he runs good i think we've got something for
00:35:42home though we ran friday night our car run the three best passes it's ever ran we're gonna leave

00:36:17crucial the important thing is just to keep going and collecting points my team's sitting in a
00:36:21pretty good spot so far four of my five guys are in i got giuseppe left and i think he's probably going

00:37:08the end of the day i got five in but the top four teams has got five in so they really don't matter
00:37:12we just we really need to go rounds with them we need to take them out round by round and hopefully
00:37:17be the last one standing
00:37:31around one i drew axe man axe man's been guessing on everybody but i feel like me and him is good
00:37:36enough buddies that i think he'll give me a straight up race so i'm gonna go up there and run my race i'm

00:38:49been a year of that kind of dumb ass happening it's a tough loss for me today uh it makes the
00:38:54way the rest of these teams is going to catch us today it just sucks situation nothing good comes from it
00:39:00and uh i really don't know how to take it i'm just pissed off feeling sorry for myself and that's
00:39:05about it all right folks next pair coming at you right now that is going to be giuseppe going up
00:39:14against justin swanstrom team is in a real good position we got all five drivers in we got points
00:39:21and a half this race feeling good about the car it's right where it needs to be as long as we make
00:39:26a nice clean run i feel like we can be just on this round this weekend we're short on hands my dad
00:39:40had some work issues come up this will be my first race racing without him so that definitely sucks but
00:39:46i've called him every pass that we've made he's watching it on live feed he's trying to coach me
00:39:51through i made three passes friday night and the car was steadily gradually driving left we had to
00:39:57put some preload in the car and i called him on the phone and he talked me through on how to get
00:40:00everything ready so hopefully this car will drive back straighter
00:40:21you know i went out there this car out of nowhere it just snapped sideways if my dad was here he
00:40:37probably could have read the track a little bit better than i did you know i tried my best but
00:40:41it just wasn't good enough justin good race buddy thank you this will be the final pair for the first

00:41:10here no easy going for murder nova i know what she has because it's the same thing that i have and i
00:41:25don't know how much they're unleashing that car at this point but i know what the car's capable of and
00:41:30that's the only thing i can go off of so i'm not going to underestimate her
00:41:44we made a good lick man i let go of the button the car did exactly what we told it to do she

00:44:29hopefully it hooks and you know makes a trip all the way down the race track and it cut a good light

00:44:40raced bowman i don't know if i've raced him yet this season at the beginning of the season he was
00:44:45on fire his car was one of the fastest on the property he had a little bit of problems with it
00:44:50and i actually think he's back now he's been running good he raced his way in he's been taking
00:44:55out some some big name cars and uh he's fast we tweak the tune just a little bit off the first pass
00:45:12try to go a little bit faster we have to go as fast as we possibly can
00:45:25and verdanova takes the win with a great pass there in that left lane mike bowman

00:45:47oh baby i left on him and i never looked back after that we got the wind light it was a pretty

00:48:13we get points with kai losing three drivers in the first round we're hoping this really helps us close
00:48:18the gap it guarantees another car moving on so there's a positive there for us
00:48:32that pass was good for us it was picking the front tires up in the middle and it was on a run
00:49:02i think it would have been hard for anybody to outrun so i'm on cloud nine right now first part
00:49:05of the year we had some good showings and i think we're back man i really do so i'm excited to see
00:49:10what this thing does the rest of the night hopefully it's our night damn i just my pants for you

00:49:23pressures didn't come over whoo and that it was running so fast pressure didn't come over

00:49:48i have a lot more confidence in my car my car's a lot faster now than when he's raced me in the past

00:49:58hopefully i can continue on and carry the team i'd say
00:50:07second round we got cali mills kind of raced with her dad i watched her dad growing up haley's
00:50:17watched me race as she grew up it's kind of cool to actually race um one of the guys's daughters and
00:50:22she's doing really good the car is really fast so it should be a really really good race
00:50:39great pass from him cali mills also made a great rip there in the right lane but just not quite enough
00:50:59the car's good that was a really really fast pass i got some awesome data from that one so we're
00:51:06only gonna go faster from here but bad part of going into the third round there's no dugs i mean
00:51:11everybody's there for a reason everybody's fast so let's get a good draw and go on to the next round

00:56:21down one for ryan if we take out brooder we just got to keep picking them off man
00:56:36we got kayla she's been running good a couple finals our car is fast we're gaining points all
00:56:41five of us are still in dave had four so we got one more than them their team's running strong over
00:56:46there so we're gonna do what we have to do to get that win

01:03:24so it's gonna be a tough round for us i looked at the tune-up car kind of was overpowering it there
01:03:33in the middle so actually turned it down a little bit hopefully that pays off and we can make a better
01:03:37run and we got to get him out too he's on kai's team they just got him got to try to take him out
01:03:43right now so we can make a move we draw giuseppe i feel like they've got a lot of momentum on ryan's
01:03:53team right now and that's contagious so you got two or three guys really running good those guys that's
01:03:59been struggling they've got to get their act together those guys will help them get their act
01:04:03together but rogues flying right now we took out lizzie we took out a killer and nate and you know
01:04:10here we are against giuseppe so can't take anybody lightly at this point
01:04:17the air is great the track's great everybody's hauling ass and them high horsepower endings right
01:04:21now are on the hunt we're just gonna have to you know knock them down to our level with this big block
01:04:40over in the right lane that is going to be giuseppe going up against damon merchant driving that pro

01:05:39down he just clipped me for sure less than a foot car probably was spinning going through i have to look

01:05:53i mean i ain't gonna lie when you get a captain like ryan it's got a ton of momentum right now you
01:06:00got nate coming over he's got a ton of momentum racing that contagious to pull up here third round
01:06:08with him he ain't in third round because he's no slouch i was worried about that one it's a damn
01:06:13good feeling now we're back to back semi-finals we got to get it done this week though i mean that was
01:06:19close i could tell can you tell or no i mean not not until right there at the stripe you just boom
01:06:26right there i knew he was close i couldn't see you i was like did you see me a little bit and reel me in
01:06:31or no oh no you didn't see you i didn't see you either oh okay oh you want to see that that was
01:06:35good yeah i got a hot rod again don't you yeah yeah i can tell yeah would have been nice to take
01:06:40damon out because uh he's on team kai right now and and that would have really helped us going into

01:06:59matchup third round i draw daddy dave look dave's been inconsistent he's not that fast but he's taking
01:07:05big jumps we just got to see how this goes he's totally unpredictable

01:07:50down through there right before the stripe i looked over and he's right beside me so it was one of those
01:07:54races that you had to look up to see the wind light and i'll take that loss every day of the

01:08:10going up against ryan martin gonna be a good one folks
01:08:14this race has been pretty big for us so far um we're making headway i think we're ahead right
01:08:24now in second place i believe we are gaining ground on kai's team
01:08:29kai all of kai's drivers are out except for damon damon is the only one that's going on
01:08:34you know it's going to be tough but i think when this is all said and done if we can keep
01:08:37doing what we're doing we're gonna close the gap dramatically we drew ryan martin um i'm excited
01:08:47about it he's one of the biggest bears out here if not the biggest and i want this one
01:08:53we're gonna go out there and send it this will be a big round for us if we can get past him
01:09:07so
01:09:11yeah there's been a lot of people jump a lot of people won that shouldn't have won um and people
01:09:32just taking shots at the trees and he took a little stab at it went red we got the w so i don't know
01:09:36like to win like that personally but i don't like to lose like that either so this is what it is we'll

01:09:55anything stupid up there it wasn't enough yeah i know i went up on the chip and it stuttered there

01:14:07know my team is in a good position right now i don't know how close we are to you know to getting
01:14:14towards that first place damon is holding strong for kai's team though so there's that but every time
01:14:19that me and robin can advance and continue to advance we gain more on kai's team so what we really
01:14:25need here is i need to take out kayla robin needs to take out damon so folks this is the invitational
