00:00A Michigan conservation officer in District 7 and another in D9 check on waterfowl hunters in
00:10November and to look at the state's efforts to provide public
00:16areas for hunters to pursue ducks and geese on lands they've deemed wetland wonders. Two
00:22Michigan conservation officers, one in District 1 and the other in D3, monitor deer hunters on
00:28the opening day of deer season. Conservation officer, anybody inside? Open the door back
00:33here. And they both encounter situations in which they work closely with other
00:37emergency response agencies. Have you had anything to drink or smoked any marijuana
00:42today? And to look at a dedication for a new DNR facility that's named in honor of
00:47two fallen conservation officers. Wild animals and wild places, they're more than
00:54a picture, their inspiration, excitement, and adventure. Patrolling and protecting these
01:01natural resources is a first-class band of peace officers. These are the Wardens,
01:07dedicated to the preservation of our great outdoors.

01:12Autumn in Michigan can feel like there's just too much to do for the dedicated outdoors
01:14outdoor enthusiast. Whitetailed deer can be hunted throughout various seasons from the 1st of
01:17October through the 1st of January.
01:18Autumn in Michigan can feel like there's just too much to do for the dedicated outdoor enthusiast.
01:36White-tailed deer can be hunted throughout various seasons from the 1st of October through the 1st of January.
01:44Bear and elk can be pursued by hunters who are fortunate enough to be granted a tag through
01:49a draw system.
01:51Many species of fish are also readily available.
01:54Other animals that many people are passionate about trying to bag are ducks and geese.
01:59Michigan is typically one of the national leaders for number of Canada geese taken each
02:03year and also has several duck species available to its hunters as well.
02:08In the state's District 7, Conservation Officer Carter Woodwyke is checking on waterfowlers
02:16set up on state land.
02:21Good morning, how are you?
02:30Good.
02:32First bird of the morning it looked like?
02:34Yeah.
02:35Nice.
02:36State Conservation Officer, obviously.
02:39You guys had a pretty good mess of that flurry come in there.
02:42Eh, I don't know how we didn't kill these men.
02:44Yeah, we should have had a lot more.
02:46Been doing pretty good out here this year.
02:47Yeah, we got quite a few ducks this week.
02:49Did you?
02:50Mm-hmm.
02:51I got five last night.
02:52Nice.
02:53Very nice.
02:54Want to check my gun?
02:56Yeah, I'll check his license here first, second.
02:59Want to sell dinner out of it?
03:01You can pull them out.
03:03Get the plug this one?
03:05No, it's plugged.
03:06It better be.
03:07It's just a plastic unscrew the cap once.
03:09Let me grab three.
03:10Oh, you know why?
03:11Because it's only about this big around.
03:12What is?
03:13Let me show you.
03:14Let's start with three of your shells at least.
03:15Hold on, I'll show you the plug.
03:16It's probably going right around it.
03:17See right here?
03:18That's your plug.
03:20Oh, I see what you're saying.
03:21The checker's just going right around it.
03:22That makes sense.
03:23I've never seen a plug like that before.
03:24Yeah, I see.
03:25Oh, perfect.
03:26That works.
03:26How are they?
03:28Good.
03:29that's your plug
03:32oh so my checker oh i see what you're saying the checker's just going right around it that
03:38makes sense i've never seen a plug like that before
03:42perfect that works good i figured with you guys being out in your spread i'd try and quick do a
03:57check before more geese keep coming in i almost had one of those ducks it looked like yeah the ducks
04:02are just playing not nice this year i'll trade you you ran her dry that time too
04:10give you that back first goose this morning awesome well congratulations
04:21missed his but those two we dumped i got my who knows how many of them
04:27killed got his first out of that one so congratulations so cool morning on the other
04:32side of southern michigan from where ceil woodwick is working in the state's district nine
04:37officer joe devin is also checking on hunters pursuing ducks and geese how'd you guys do out
04:45there
04:45it's not because we're playing with it now you got any ducks no we got none not at all
04:52real quick uh just you got your id uh licenses on you i'll just check the firearms and
04:56you're all set all right put that one away perfect all right i'm gonna take a look at your
05:05bag real quick just look at your ammo
05:06you got a sandwich huh yeah you're not baiting are you no no they might
05:20no life jackets what are you guys gonna do if you fall out of the boat
05:34i didn't realize he had it he keeps it on the island here so
05:40you ever fall out of the water on waders what's that have you ever fallen out of a boat
05:44into the water wearing waders no it is it's not fun
05:47so i want to talk to you about the registration numbers and then the lack of life jackets
05:51all right unless they're somewhere hidden that i can't find them
05:55there's the ducks right there all right do you have any life jackets for the boat or no
06:00there's life jackets in there okay now i'm in the bag all right yeah
06:04yeah it's the first time you're looking in here
06:07there's one and then there should be four in there there's another one do there
06:14yeah okay every time want them all out nope thanks to those two you're good to go you put
06:18on your hull id don't you don't need to put all that um so when you get home just scratch those
06:22off put those new numbers on there and you'll be all set okay i was like that's way too many
06:25numbers but it's not too big of a deal all right thank you sir yep no problem although ceo
06:30depon is primarily keeping an eye on waterfowl hunters on this day the day before which was the
06:35first saturday of the state's firearm deer season he was checking on people chasing deer
06:40later in his shift after the sun had set officer depon encounters a man who tells him that he's
06:45shot a deer and is about to go recover it but hasn't tagged it yet since it's it's untagged at
06:50this point you've already gutted it and everything i'm gonna go back there with you just take a look
06:54at it there's a little bit of concern why the deer's not tagged yet after it's fully gutted
06:58i had it with me and i said oh i'm walking up here to get this i'm gonna take it as soon as i go back
07:04okay is the firearm back there with your wife or is the firearm here they're both there
07:09okay that's all right just you can hand me the whole set i'm gonna go back there with you just
07:16take a look at the deer if you don't mind michigan conservation officer carter woodwick is working
07:20on the last saturday of november and closely monitoring waterfowl hunters he started his
07:26morning by checking on hunters on public land and continues to do so state conservation officer
07:31i'm just gonna check licenses and firearms here a minute
07:35you need the pad farm there yeah if you got the permit right there
07:40cool looks good i appreciate it
07:46no problem take care guys good luck thank you yep
08:00that's good
08:22nice let's see more many people out here with a 10 gauge you don't not anymore no not anymore
08:34nope it's all 12 gauge let you load up and we'll get out of your hair
08:39thank you very much not a problem take care good luck thank you you too
08:43always have a good day out here some days just better than others
08:46within the elegant state game area which encompasses over 50 000 acres is the fenville
09:02farm unit a 4 100 acre area that's managed specifically for waterfowl there are seven
09:09managed waterfowl hunt areas located in southern michigan another managed waterfowl hunt area is
09:15the neaquin point state wildlife area to bring attention to what's available and welcome
09:20hunters back prior to the season the dnr holds open houses at some of its sites including neaquin
09:26point neaquin point state wildlife area is a special place in my heart i grew up in the
09:31area um not too far from here and had many opportunities to recreate throughout my teenage
09:37years and i knew that i always wanted to be a part of this game area i just didn't know
09:42what part i wanted to play so i went to college went to michigan tech i came back to the area and
09:48started out as a state worker four and then progressed into a seasonal wildlife assistant
09:53position and then became the technician and i've been the technician for about 15 years now we are
09:58situated on the western shore of saginaw bay in bay county
10:09nice with many public areas the dnr works closely with other agencies to improve the area including
10:17volunteer groups we have work days here where their staff are unable to do it so we we take it over and
10:25we'll get a crew of 15 people and we'll work all day on something there's different projects where
10:32we put up snow fencing we put up uh coyote decoy silhouettes and we move them around we do other
10:39projects or maintenance wise doing some stuff to the fields and the other areas our main focus is
10:46waterfall and waterfall hunting but we also have spring migration for waterfall so our area is open to
10:52bird watching bird watching is probably the second largest activity at neonquin point we have the
10:57largest population of yellow-headed blackbirds which people come from all over the world to see these
11:02birds they're they're just spread throughout the area they've also migrated into some of our agricultural
11:08crops so it makes it really easy for people to access those areas to see them we provide other
11:13recreational opportunities in the way of hunting deer hunting we also allow trapping they're great for
11:19uh duck hunting water following and they have uh draw systems a lottery type system where you come in to
11:29hunt so that you're limited on the amount of hunters and they're real quality areas to hunt where you can
11:37really have a really good hunt and have a substantial number of birds that you can harvest the staff at areas
11:44like neaquin point works hard to make the area appealing to the game that hunters would like to
11:49pursue there we do intensive farming on some of our units and that is for to provide a high energy food
11:56source for migrating waterfalls so we put in all of our own agricultural crops we do a mixture of corn
12:02buckwheat millet and then the corn serves also a secondary purpose to conceal hunters for hunting in the fall
12:09so after all of that work gets done in the summer then we use large volume pumps to flood the area
12:16so that they have flooded corn to hunt out of these areas here are real unique especially neaquin it offers
12:23a very easy physical hunt you don't need a lot of equipment you can walk into a lot of areas with just a
12:32tub a dozen decoys and your gun so the access is real real easy compared to some areas and a lot of
12:42older sportsmen water followers like to hunt this because it's a lot easier this is a great gem it's
12:49a rural community but i think you know coming off the beaten path you know from your town or your school
12:57or your little subdivision in pink hunting which is not very big but when they come out here they
13:02feel like they're secluded they feel like this is like wilderness and i think a lot of people don't
13:09really know that it's here and i feel like that's one of the things we want to focus on just letting
13:14people know that there's more to this area than just waterfall hunting
13:20michigan conservation officer carter woodwick is checking on waterfell hunters on the last saturday of
13:26november he's been steadily busy throughout the morning as he goes from one hunting party to another
13:31to ensure that they have the proper licenses and federal waterfell stamp as well as making sure
13:36that their firearms can hold no more than three shells and that their shells do not contain lead
13:41hello state conservation officer good how are you having any luck over here
13:48shot at some high birds but no i haven't anything yep we're just going to check uh licenses and firearms here a minute
14:02a couple hundred birds just piled up behind us right out the refuge right there okay i see that
14:07give you that and then do you have any other shots by you in a bag or in your pockets or something
14:26we have chosen our pocket pockets and double checked the couples same ones awesome same ones
14:33all the same stuff yep looks good very good that works i'll leave you guys to it then maybe a couple
14:40of these will venture on over but hopefully we'll see good luck later in his shift after checking
14:45waterfowl hunters throughout the day officer woodwyke shifts his focus to monitoring deer hunters he's aware
14:52of some hunters who utilize boats to head to some public hunting land so he waits at the spot where
14:57he sees the boat trailers parked to await their return how are you good got a little buck nice
15:11state conservation officer you guys able to make it quite a ways up we made it down down okay start it
15:19up and work your way down all right very nice very good firearms are all cased up wonderful i'll start
15:30i guess with hunting licenses start from right and go left that way i don't get too mixed up whose boat is
15:39this uh mine yours you said you got a tag on it yeah it's already on it that's the only one i only
15:48tag i got right there okay you have a doe tag or something that you put on it okay perfect very good
15:58who ended up getting this one uh one of the older the older guy got that oh he's coming right now
16:04yeah there's there's more okay cool it's just this motor then you got another one coming two more how you
16:17do you guys see anything i didn't see one tail no i'm pushing yep got another deer down there we ended up getting this one
16:38uh um this guy coming in the next boat he's still coming
16:53so there's one more boat coming or yeah okay awesome
16:56okay you got the buck and doe here yeah awesome
17:11yes a little doing here that one's yours awesome everything looks good with their life jackets in
17:17this boat yep right here right here right hand the case perfect very good yeah you guys got it all
17:25squared away
17:36officer woodwike is in a parking lot for hunters using public land i ended up getting this one i did
17:42you did yes sir nice and has a lot of vehicles and hunters he stops to check and see if any of them
17:49have gotten deer and if so to make sure the deer are properly tagged cool very good that one's good there
18:00yeah we had a pretty good day so yeah no doubt i don't know how many deer there were there one two
18:04three four five five five or six of them at least i believe so you did nice
18:11no very good
18:12what's your last name in the year you were born 42 on that one 32 on that one whose tag is this
18:23my dad's it's your dad's yeah so why'd you put his tag on it it's mine sitting on my table
18:29okay i know why do you have your driver's license with you so i can see if you actually have licenses
18:34in this case i did issue a citation for using the kill tag of another it's the allegan district court
18:38it's their address and their phone number you got three to ten business days to get that taken care
18:42of whether it's pleading guilty not guilty setting up a court date whatever the case is not a problem
18:46this woman took her citation to a bench trial and the judge utilized his discretion to dismiss the
18:52charges based on her testimony under oath that she was lying to officer woodwyke in the field when
18:58he asked her who shot the deer she told the judge that her dad did actually shoot the deer and she
19:04simply had it in the back of her truck all right take care be safe michigan conservation officer joe
19:10dempen is also working during the month of november but he's in the state's district nine
19:18he's located a man who shot a deer and didn't tag it immediately he was also hunting over bait that's
19:24when you shot the deer with it's a 450 all right it's on safety all right i can do that one all right
19:36all right so man this is yours that's right okay so when 100 hours are finished up you got to unload
19:43how do you throw them in the sled here all right we can pull back around the blind here and we'll
19:51talk about what's going on we've got a couple things going on here so initially you're out there
19:57you took the deer we didn't initially tag it number two taking the deer over a bait pile you know the
20:03bait is prohibited yes yeah it's very okay the fact that you're honest with me i do appreciate that um
20:12i'm not gonna dig into any further as far as if you're the deer your wife shot was over bait or not
20:17but as far as this one this one's got to come with me okay hey we shot it well you can be waiting for
20:25them but you just got to be taken legally yep um and so like i said i got i gotta i gotta seize the
20:33deer i got it right over report um and it's essentially you're shooting over bait it's in
20:39legal deer it's done by a legal method so um i'm gonna take the 12 gauge gonna document it as part of it
20:45what happens with that that's gonna be up to the court i've just got to document it as the weapon
20:49that shot the animal i'll give your wife a warning on the loaded after hours because i can understand
20:54that can be an easy mistake you know people get excited but as far as the deer and the tagging and
20:59the bait is concerned i'm going to deal with that directly with you okay in this case for illegally
21:04taking a deer since he shot it over bait in an area that's closed to baiting this man paid a court
21:09ordered fine of two thousand dollars which was restitution to the state of michigan for the buck
21:14you can continue to hunt as long as all that is cleaned up well i was going to ask you that if
21:18i get all that bait out i bring this out tomorrow clean up all the bait as long as all the bait is
21:23gone uh from all parts of the property no nothing left in this oil nothing dug in the mud then you can
21:29continue to hunt most michigan conservation officers usually start out with a plan for what they want to
21:35do each day both to follow up on information they already have as well as to gather new information
21:41however they are also all too aware that their priorities can shift quickly and they need to
21:46focus on something else this holds true even during the last 16 days of november when the state's firearm
21:52deer season is underway and when there are typically more hunters in the woods than any other time of
21:57the year in the states district one officer alex van wagner is checking deer hunters on the firearm deer
22:06opener it's opening day of firearm deer season in the up here that's probably the biggest day of the year
22:11up here we're in iron county in the up of michigan um we're at the crystal falls field office right now
22:18and uh got a couple things lined up and we're just gonna check what's out there and see what we can
22:23find there is a guy in this vehicle here so i'm gonna go up and contact him
22:34morning sir conservation officer how you doing good how are you good what you up to well just kind of
22:40watching the pipeline i'm not too serious about getting out and freezing my tail off okay um
22:47i've got my rifle back there okay and just you know i have i have a cpl okay and my
22:55what do you carry it's a uh a 380. okay you got your cpl on you i do okay
23:03and it's in my little backpack over there okay
23:09uh what are you shooting for a rifle um it's a remington uh 30 odd six okay
23:18all right thank you you mind if i check if it's unloaded
23:22the rifle sure okay is it on that side or right here you can open it okay
23:31you got a stand over here or just uh no hanging out i'm just kind of hanging i used to have a stand
23:38down this other pipeline um but uh my cousin he hunts all the way down
23:47okay and i believe there's a couple of uh i think it was an indiana plate that went by
23:53i wasn't sure
23:54okay okay do you mind if i check your license uh deer license sure okay
24:11just got a single tag yep okay perfect well i'll let you uh keep scouting
24:17okay
24:27approximately four and a half hours by automobile from where ceo van wagner is patrolling in the
24:32ever peninsula officer jack gorno is also working on the state's firearm deer opener in the lower
24:38peninsula in the state's district three
24:43ceo gorno is working alongside sergeant mark depew they're patrolling an area that's close to baiting
24:48and know of a spot with a hunting blind that's overlooking a bait pile they want to check to see
24:53if the blind is occupied giant pile yeah it was it was the biggest pile that we picked off this is
25:00right here's a blind
25:07conservation officer anybody inside yep open the door back here
25:13how are you good good any any any idea why i'm here this morning
25:17bait pile okay okay okay do you live here is this your property okay when's the last time you put bait
25:25out last saturday last saturday and this is your property i don't own this part of it my house is
25:33right up there okay it's my wife's grandpa's property wife's grandpa's okay so family then
25:39how's the season so far for you i haven't killed anything yet haven't killed anything i just bought
25:44my license last yesterday obviously that's not a bait pile that that you can remove by hand at this
25:50time so this blind's done until it's gone okay so grab your grab your gun keep it in a safe direction
25:57and we'll walk you back since the first michigan conservation officer went on the job in 1887
26:0416 officers have lost their lives in the line of duty the state of michigan has a memorial to these
26:09fallen officers at the ralph a mcmullen center in the northern lower peninsula where
26:14all present-day ceos regularly attend training exercises two of these 16 fallen officers died
26:21during the same incident almost 100 years ago in marquette county when michigan's dnr held a grand
26:28opening for the first shooting range in the upper peninsula it was the initial opportunity for the
26:36public to see the range that was named in honor of two officers that were killed approximately three
26:41miles from the site of the range michigan conservation officers arvid erickson and emil scogland were
26:48working together on september 29 1926 when they encountered an unlicensed hunter identified as roy nunn
26:55during the course of the arrest nunn pulled a hidden revolver and killed officer erickson with two shots in
27:01the back of the head officer scogland raced to the scene to assist and was killed with two shots to the face
27:08the evidence eventually led to none who confessed to the crime the officers bodies were recovered having
27:14been weighed down with bricks and dumped into lake superior from a pier in the city of marquette
27:20nunn was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison never knew my grandfather
27:27i knew a lot about him but not all the details i saw roy nunn the guy that shot arvid and abel
27:38in prison he used to play a lot of hockey and softball out there and one of the guards pointed him out
27:44he uh he's a small small guy but never no never i saw him i had a chance to talk to him you've heard the
27:52saying that freedom isn't free well conservation isn't either conservation does mean the wise use
28:00of a natural resource but it's the term wise that recognized years and years ago that there had to
28:07be regulations there had to be controls to sustain our natural resources and these officers were pioneers
28:15back in the day fighting the same fight that our men and women do today
28:19big deal for dnr it's a huge part of our mission here part of the mission of course is having folks
28:25be able to use firearms safely and places like this allow that to happen and also a lot of these places
28:33house our hunter safety classes throughout the state and i'm sure that this one probably will too
28:38on the field days that we offer for hunter safety there are so many reasons that shooting ranges are
28:43important to the public to law enforcement communities who are uh groups that need to have
28:49the ranges to come and shoot so for us shooting ranges is an opportunity to give back to the community
28:55of um archers firearms purchasers folks that go out and purchase ammunition give back to that
29:02compute community and give them a place to come and recreate and enjoy a safe spot to target shoot
29:08relatives of the fallen officers were the first ones to utilize the pistol and rifle ranges at the
29:15new facility well i think it's beautiful range uh it'll be used for many years many generations and a
29:23great way to honor these two great men i was born and raised in marquette so i always knew this was a
29:27place where people came to shoot um not legally so it's the amount of garbage out here that you could find
29:34was more than you could ever imagine so then being able to team up with local organizations to get it
29:40cleaned up and get it a safe place for people to shoot speaking with dnr representatives it's taken
29:44over 10 years to finally get this to kind of come to terms so it's really cool to see this project
29:51completed it's nice to see a facility like this and a turnout like this yeah something marquette county
29:58is needed for a long time and i think they did an awesome job it's been quite cool to work in the
30:05same county that he did although i didn't know him it's played a large role in my career choice
30:11thank you to the dnr for getting this going i know it's been a long time coming so big shout out to you
30:15guys so i appreciate it thank you very much it's hard to explain what that means to us it's a very cool
30:21way of honoring the family tradition of law enforcement and honoring the fallen officers
30:42michigan conservation officer alex van wagner is working on the opening day of the state's firearm
30:48deer season we can slowly move up and see um i know where stand is so um he obviously drove in
30:57here and made his own trail in here on the state land so we're just going to see what's up and see
31:02and maybe back out but um and wait for him but we'll see what we can find
31:07he found sitting so i'm just going to back out um he is hunting in there so we'll contact him when he
31:23comes out co van wagner has located an off-road vehicle in an area where orv use is prohibited
31:31he intends to catch up with this hunter later to address several potential violations while officer
31:38van wagner is waiting for this hunter to emerge from the woods he receives a call to respond to
31:43a more pressing issue so we got requested by the local dispatch there's a traffic crash on one of the
31:49county roads and all the other units are tied up in the county so myself and my partner my county are
31:56heading to this traffic crash together they were coming this way yeah okay um he was driving
32:18she's complaining of back pain there's an infant in the car as well okay i think the infant was hurt
32:24who's in the driver's seat now this is that is a passerby who saw the accident or saw that you
32:31were up there so you need to go in darling you get car insurance that's what that's for you were
32:40driving yes sir okay did you already give her your information no she said uh one of you guys or one of
32:46the cops are going to come grab it for me license and registration and insurance is all here okay all
32:52right so you're coming this way yes we were coming this way i was we're slowing down for the corners
32:57because the roads beforehand was all slushing and everything before okay step back here with me okay
33:04so i was gone about 15 20 coming around the corner i hit one of these slushy spots started going in the
33:11opposite lane i've seen the truck way down there i didn't know if it was parked or coming towards me so i
33:17was trying to get back into my lane safely and as you can see i obviously didn't manage the safely
33:22part okay but um and you have an infant in the vehicle i understand yes we had my little baby
33:27was that your uh wife girlfriend that's my wife and my daughter have you had anything to drink or
33:34smoked any marijuana today any other drugs no sir okay of course with my baby i when i smoke it's all at
33:40home i don't drive when i'm smoking and i definitely don't drink unless it's after work and i have my one
33:45drink go home and that's it all right uh you you haven't smoked today i smoked this morning and i
33:52was like what time is it now like nine all right 10 36 yeah i smoked at like 8 30 this morning 8 30 and
33:59then what time is it right now 10 36 10 36 okay all right um do you feel any effects of the marijuana
34:06anymore no sir i don't okay
34:20and then from the number 86 you're gonna count backwards from 86 to 68 86 to 68 yeah maybe yeah 86 85 84 83 82 81
34:4381 80 79 78 77 76 75 74 73 72 71 70 69 68
34:58all right um i don't i don't think you're impaired but i would definitely recommend not smoking before you
35:03drive i know at this point four hours ago um that you said you smoked yeah but it could still be in your
35:10system so i just left the traffic crash over on county road 424 uh what happened was a male driver
35:18was in the car with his wife and infant and he took a corner too fast over there and ended up rolling his
35:25vehicle into the ditch and me and my partners arrived and we checked to see that the guy was sober
35:33uh ran him through sobrieties and my partner ended up taking the report and the driver's gonna be
35:42issued a citation related to the incident there in this case for violating basic speed law this man was
35:49found responsible and paid a court-ordered fine of 115 dollars his wife and infant child did not incur any
35:55major injuries
36:13michigan conservation officer jack gorno is also working on the firearm opener for white-tailed deer season
36:19in the state's district 3. he's contacted a hunter who was hunting over bait that bait pile you could
36:28you see from space it's a big one just contacting a hunter over bait um in an area closed to baiting
36:36so and it's still closing the whole lower peninsula right yep yep closing the whole lower
36:41door did you park at the house here i live right there okay okay follow you okay follow you back
36:51then what's the reason you put bait down right the way i've always hunted okay
37:02i mean obviously now i'm gonna have to put a food plot in there yeah that was my plan behind brush hogging
37:07in the top okay you do you got to do to pick all that bait up yeah okay so that blind's done until
37:17you pick all the bait up okay okay um it's gonna be a baiting ticket today so i'm not gonna yeah i
37:23figured you figured and i don't i'm not gonna tell you something that wait make you wake me make you wake
37:29wait around and think think what's coming so in this case for using bait for a deer in an area that's
37:35closed to baiting this man pled guilty and paid a court-ordered fine of 327 names driver's license
37:43stuff's on the top middle sections where we are i just wrote you for baiting in a closed area it
37:48becomes an issue if you don't contact them and then you can advise what you want to do over the phone
37:52so okay yep you have any question any other questions okay later in the day officer gorno is
37:59called to respond to a scene where a hunter has fallen in the woods
38:03he meets the wife of the hunter and other responders at the hunter's residence
38:12i just got up here he's in the woods let me put the gun okay is it loaded yeah okay um i can hold on
38:18to it or do you want to put it in the house right here okay did they say a name on the residence
38:23i'll come up with it this is what i don't think you'll get the structure it's right here oh yeah
38:32does it get any narrower than this a little at one spot but i cut you can see i cut a lot of stuff back
38:38we can get over this one and i don't even take it down trees and it's it's this way oh yeah let's
38:47let's try it you want me to just drive back there you can try if you think you can make it you want
38:50to just hop on the roof in the back yeah we'll get it it doesn't get any tighter than this right
38:58they are i can just drive back there it's wide yeah and put them on the tailgate yeah okay i'll walk
39:11with her okay yep
39:28do you guys think the truck's gonna be okay to lay him down in we're just gonna take it nice and
39:48slow okay okay okay yeah he crawled in here from the blind okay yeah yes yes okay although the ems
39:58team does not believe their ambulance can make it through the woods and to the injured man they do
40:03treat him at the scene and attend to his injuries as best they can before the team attempts to bring
40:08him out of the woods in the bed of ceogorno's patrol truck he's in good hands man we'll get him loaded
40:14up right to the ambulance okay okay these guys are the best around so appreciate you trying to help
