00:11A correspondent in Beijing, Bruno Falsi, has the details.
00:15Greetings, companions. The People's Liberation Army of China has launched a large-scale exercise around the island of Taiwan.
00:25The maneuvers include joint operation by the Navy, Air Force and Missile Units, with simulation of naval blockade and control of strategic routes,
00:37according to the Chinese Minister of Defense.
00:41The Chinese government asserts that these exercises are defensive and necessary in response to what it considers a foreign interference,
00:52particularly from the United States and the movements seeking to separate Taiwan from China.
01:00Authorities emphasize that any attempt of independence in the doomed is doomed to failure,
01:08and that peaceful reunification remains the priority of the Chinese government.
01:14Taiwan is an integral part of the Chinese territory, this according to the United Nations Resolution 2758,
01:24which recognizes the People's Republic of China as its sole legitimate representative.
01:31The exercise comes amid a growing U.S. military presence in the Indo-Pacific region and the intensification of alliances with Japan, the Philippines and Australia.
01:45China warns that responsibility for any escalations lies with the separatist forces and the countries that incite the conflict,
01:55and reaffirms that the regional stability depends on respect for sovereignty and international law.
