00:00When traveling by air, you're going to have to go through security, and that means putting your bags through an x-ray machine.
00:06However, now the TSA is issuing a reminder to those traveling with their pets.
00:10Don't put your animal through the security screening machine.
00:13According to the Transportation Security Administration, they have had too many instances of that very scenario occurring around the country.
00:20So many that they've actually issued an official statement regarding the process.
00:24According to the TSA, travelers should familiarize themselves with both the departing and arriving airport's pet policies, as well as the policies of whatever airline you're traveling on.
00:33Adding that, quote, key in the screening of pets is to know that they should never be screened through a checkpoint x-ray unit.
00:39Still, their pet carrier will need to be x-rayed as part of the screening process, meaning your animal should be taken out of their carrier and either walked or carried through the human scanner with you.
00:49Travel and Leisure recommends going a step further before traveling with your pets as well.
00:53Saying you should give them a trial run in their carrier before the journey, ensuring they're comfortable and have all the amenities they need for however long the flight.
