Ja'Marr Chase Reacts to Bengals' Win over Cardinals in Week 17
Transcript
00:00In October, since you scored a touchdown, I know you were aware of that.
00:04How much were you just efforting to get back in the end zone today?
00:10My first, well, I was itching to get in there, if I'm being honest.
00:14When my first touchdown earlier, I was fighting myself to get in there.
00:18I walked in the building today telling myself I'm going to make sure I get in there some type of way.
00:21You saw the way you spiked the ball. Was that just a release of, it's been two months since I've been here?
00:27Yeah. I didn't even know what celebration I wanted to do when I scored.
00:31Like, that's how I know I ain't been in there in a minute. You know what I'm saying?
00:33I just ain't know what to do when I get in there.
00:35When you caught that pass, it's a 19-yard catch. You had to break multiple tackles.
00:40Are you thinking touchdown the moment you catch it?
00:43Once I made the first do-miss, that's when I started to think touchdown. I'm like, I'm right there.
00:48When you go into that mode after the catch where you're just dodging tacklers, what's going on through your head?
00:57Nothing. I don't know. I don't think nothing. I think everything else is just instincts in that moment.
01:02What is it about the Cardinals here? Last time against them, you went off to the whatever, 192 yards, three touchdowns, two scores this week.
01:08Is it something about that jersey that just sets you off?
01:13No, not really. I'm not sure.
01:16It just so happened, I haven't scored in a couple of weeks, and this is a game we're playing, so I think that's what happened.
01:22How much momentum did that give you guys to get in the end zone first series?
01:29That's what we needed, you know what I'm saying? Especially on the first series.
01:32That's how we get our momentum, going for the second series and the third and so forth.
01:35So that first series is always our thrill.
01:38How much fun have you been to tomorrow?
01:39This offense, the last two weeks, has put up really big numbers.
01:43We know it's the end of the season, we know you're not going to the playoffs, but is it meaningful for the offense to perform this way?
01:50Yeah, I mean, that's what we expect from the beginning of the season.
01:52It didn't really go our way, but we know what we're capable of at the end of the day and what opportunities we can put ourselves in.
01:57But we've got to execute.
01:58How much fun is it?
02:01It's been a fun period, just because we've been winning.
02:04I think that's the biggest thing, you know what I'm saying?
02:05When you're winning, you're having the most fun.
02:07Does stacking wins at the end of the season actually mean anything with no playoffs?
02:13Yes and no, if I'm being completely honest.
02:18You know what I'm saying?
02:18I think at the end of the day, at the end of the season, if you don't have a playoff, I think that's more of a character on your part, finishing the season for the organization.
02:26But there's different ways you can look at it.
02:29You got an outside chance with a big game next week to break your own record for most catches of the season with the Bengals.
02:36Is that something that's going to be in the back of your mind as you prepare for next week?
02:40No, I didn't even know I was that close.
02:41If I don't know, I'm that close.
02:42How many I got?
02:43How many catches I'm with?
02:45I think we're at 117.
02:49Last year was what?
02:49120?
02:51Okay.
02:53I ain't getting that this year.
02:55No?
02:55Why not?
02:56Nah.
02:57I ain't getting that this year.
02:58I'd like 12 more catches.
02:59I ain't getting that this year.
03:00You're the first player in NFL history to have five straight years, to start your career, five straight years, 1,000 receiving yards, 80 receptions, and seven or more touchdowns.
03:09Thoughts?
03:11You said talk to you?
03:12I said thoughts.
03:15Just a blessing.
03:16A good opportunity.
03:17A good position I'm in.
03:19Great guys around me.
03:20Great organization for me.
03:21And, you know, I just fit the perfect picture.
03:24Thank you, sir.
