00:00Sacramento, California.
00:28it's really a town rich in strongman history it was here four years ago that tom stoltman won
00:34his first ever title it was here the following year that his rival mitcher hooper announced
00:39himself on the strongman stage well as the pair continue their dusty duel what will sack town
00:45hold this year tom's already shown what he can produce now it's the turn of the moose
00:50in 2024 i won every strongman show on the professional circuit bar world's strongest man
01:04i've won seven of the last seven shows and ten of the last 11 shows i've been on a tear that i can't
01:11really comprehend other people have referred to me as the greatest strong man of all time and one
01:17day i might sit back and reflect on where i might be coming out on top of world's strongest man 2025
01:23would only add to that legacy
01:31physically i feel great i feel ready to win the competition i'm the best
01:35physical shape of my life so it's going to be a tall task to me
01:38well that's the moose and this is the beast eddie hall eddie two years ago mitchell took tom's
01:49title away can he do it again i think you can you got to look what mitch has done in the last 11 months
01:55alone he's won seven international strongman events he's looking absolutely on fire bang in
02:01form you've also got in this group the men who finished fourth and sixth in last year's final that's
02:06matt rag and wistowinski and another man who's not been with us before award's strongest man but who
02:10is potentially a real contender paddy haynes paddy the real buddy haynes just came second at europe
02:17strongest man if you've got to think if you're the top two in europe you've got to be the top ten in
02:21the world well that's the plan for paddy let's find out then heat two gets underway now as we join
02:26colin bryce and daddy wallace well thank you james thank you eddie here we go then colin who do we have
02:33what a stacked lineup it is and we have another moose canada's wes dowinski a finalist last year
02:41for britain the pride of banbury paddy haynes no doubt about it mitchell hooper is the man to beat
02:49phenomenal athlete and wsm winner and you heard from colin bryce we have a new bryce big bryce six
02:56foot five and 400 pounds and rounding off the group is matt rag who finished fourth last year in the final
03:02safely through to the final already three-time world's strongest man tom stoltman and for the
03:07first time eddie williams of australia so event one the loading medley column yes indeed it's a sandbag
03:15fest for the first event here they have to load them into this cyber truck they'll begin with the man
03:22they call the dark horse one more recently paddy the real baddie haynes it's his debut this year
03:32lovely jump on him it's quite an athlete paddy in lane number two the former sbd world's strongest
03:39man representing canada and to beat mitchell hooper incredible strong man not afraid to let us know
03:49either no he isn't no he's he knows how good he is he was very thrilled to be up against paddy haynes in
03:56this event because paddy is one of the quickest men on the circuit and the hoopoe can just keep pace with
04:02him and he'll know that he's done a great time well the horse of the moose pretty much neck and neck
04:10he is fast paddy hentz
04:14hooper's actually just ahead of him here this is a really good time let's not forget this isn't just
04:19about becoming top two in your heat and making it to the final it's also about how the others do in
04:25their heats and how your performance matches up against them because it will count towards the final
04:31if you make it well that's fast from mitchell hooper and he nearly packed himself in there paddy haynes
04:3841.26 let's hear it from paddy he enjoyed that didn't he four in 41.26
04:47and with the fastest time of the day mitchell hooper on the head 38.6
04:54from mitchell hooper that is one tenth of a second quicker than tom stoltman because it matters
05:01that will count towards the final assuming he makes it there but that's a great time indeed
05:10in lane one so now the turn of matthew rag from new zealand
05:13third time here
05:18fourth in the final last year so close to being on the podium representing canada
05:25dowinski stable mate of the moose coached by uh jf carron yeah there's so many who come out of jf carron's
05:36circuit and he's a tremendous athlete made the final last year sixth in his debut who knows how
05:44far he could go this year but we've got two wsm finalists from last year coming we've just seen
05:49hooper this is a stacked heat no doubt this is fast from dowinski he's been recovering from a few
05:57injuries he's been battling his way back he was behind going into the pickup he managed to load it
06:06first now then if you look he's doing it kick and then turn which is a bit of a gamble which means you
06:14take a couple less steps saves you a little time if you can do it he's done it well look at that from
06:19matt rag left dowinski standing there well you gotta gamble you're this close to the each other in terms
06:32of performance it's paid off time of 49.14 so four in 49.14 for dowinski puts him in fourth so far
06:42a faster time of course from matt rag four in 43.79 wow that's a great time but that's tough to take
06:52third with that which paddy haynes and mitch was so good so the fastest moose in the west mitchell hooper
07:00holds the lead still to come though is big bryce johnson he's a massive man but can he move we'll
07:07find out when we return on the spd world's strongest man welcome back to the spd world's
07:24strongest man it's the opening event for group two the loading medley last man to go is the former
07:29dallas cowboy big bryce johnson over to little bryce with danny wallace well thank you james and yes we
07:36continue with bryce johnson from wisconsin in america we've had a mouse infestation here at worlds
07:46recently and this is the best solution we could come up with to attract them into the audience
07:55so johnson he's from the dairy land the dairy lands where they call the the fans of the football team
08:04the cheese heads that's what that was he's making light work of these soundbags so far
08:12he's a big man and there's a lot of running to be done here interesting to see just how his fitness is
08:19his first world's strongest man first event and he's shifting along here he's up against some really
08:27quick men though with the place of hooper and paddy haynes and rag did a great time and a fumble oh no
08:33it is a fumble from big bryce
08:38this heat beat down on him as well the addition of the gloves but in it goes
08:44the time's taken then his hands are off there's magnus fair magnuson the head ref
08:51would have been taking the time and look at that fumble that cost him three four five seconds maybe more
08:57let's hear it from bryce johnson well all four 51.83
09:04cheesy but not easy for johnson then in event one paddy haynes making a great start
09:09but mitchell hooper top three seconds clear and faster two than tom stoltman in group one the moose
09:15is with michelle ackley well done mitch starting off strong with the first event a tenth of a second
09:21faster than tom stoltman just how important is that first win yeah well look now that the heat
09:28counts towards the finals that matters and that's a good thing because it means we're all going to have
09:31to put in full efforts uh through 10 events if you're lucky enough to make the finals so it means
09:35a lot to get off to a good start you shake off the nerves and now it's just another strongman show
09:39be fair to say in the last 12 months you've had a stellar year seven consecutive wins with
09:45international competitions what does that do to your confidence levels does that give you a sense of
09:51calm or invincibility even i wouldn't go so far as invincibility but it's certainly confidence in
09:56myself that no one else can have in themselves and ultimately if i get nervous or concerned about an
10:00event i can think i have such a strong history of being consistently the best one in recent times
10:06so i can lean on that and other people can't they have to prove it to themselves at the same time
10:10they're proving to everyone else i've already proved it to myself i've already proved to everyone else
10:14it's just time to repeat deadlift next how you feeling uh great that's uh deadlift reps haven't
10:19been beaten about 18 months so it should be another good result good luck thank you
10:24well Mitchell Hooper top of the pile after one event but will it be another five points in the bag
10:29as we move on to event two it is the deadlift for reps and there are 350 kilos on the bar and 60
10:38seconds on the clock for as many reps as possible hooper competing here remember not only with this
10:43group but with our first two finalists stoltman and williams who managed seven reps back in group one
10:49our first man out today american debutant bryce johnson bounced back from event one's disappointment
10:55to match that seven with a mighty display of static strength could he take the win here let's find
11:00out for colin and danny well thank you and matt rag i was gonna say warming up but uh he looks boiling
11:09already and calm again not cool but collected wesley dowinski
11:22i think matt rag will be putting a lot of pressure on himself here he's a great deadlifter especially for
11:27reps leaves the towel on his head a little bit of shade it is nearly 100 degrees here in sacramento
11:36so not exactly great deadlifting weather
11:43what is good deadlifting weather i don't know i was just thinking that as i said it danny well
11:48dowinski pulling ahead onto five now probably colder to shed some heat dowinski wow this is impressive
11:57i thought rag would be what the one who'd be making the running here
11:59not at all dowinski for seven oh yes he locks it out well what more can dowinski give us
12:13slow and steady is the game if he can get an eighth
12:18not that much time left though five seconds to go he's got to lock it out he's not locked it out yet no
12:25well that was so close there i think you'd have been forgiven as a referee for giving that but he
12:31was still soft you can lock it out you can hold it and he couldn't we're currently tying the first
12:38with seven that rag what an effort that last one was that eighth but uh no he got pulled back down you
12:50can tell that it's not a good rep
12:56and dowinski there gave it his all yeah much quicker dowinski surprisingly so
13:02seven seems to be the mark isn't it same as big bryce yeah and in group one of course tom stoltman
13:11managed seven and eddie williams williams as well so if one man can take us to eight
13:19might as well be mitchell hooper nipping at his heels banbury's paddy haynes
13:25yeah paddy doesn't look like he's the strongest man in the world necessarily he's uh not carrying
13:31any excess weight that's for sure but he's a great deadlifter and a former long distance runner
13:38so was mitchell hooper he used to run marathons surprisingly we're not playing top trumps here
13:43i'm just trying to i'm just saying a bit of color
13:46well fast start from hooper you can see paddy's got very long arms that's a big assistance in this
13:55kind of thing they're getting longer by the second because he's rather deliberate a little bit shaky
14:01at six paddy's on six going for seven there's the magic number
14:09i'm not sure hooper is gonna take it the win here he seemed pretty confident coming into this he's not a
14:15man weighed down by self-doubt that's true there it is number eight no no came out his grip but
14:25what about haynes this could be a great moment just hanging on by his fingertips he's done it
14:34oh but at what cost that great performance there from paddy haynes a bit of concern here
14:41well mitchell's gonna be unhappy with that what happened there it came out his grip and he had
14:46straps on that's very unusual a little bit of oxygen should get him back on his feet
14:56he'll be very happy with that that's an event win at world's strongest man in his debut where's he come
15:03from you know i mean banbury but i mean on the seat
15:11well certainly gave it his all
15:14and he has risen paddy haynes eight reps finishes first
15:20this is a real childhood ambition realized it's his girlfriend daisy who's wanted this to appear
15:30here since he was a kid and now he's beaten hooper yes moose's deadlift winning streak set firmly back
15:37to zero by britain's paddy haynes what a way to claim your first ever event win at world's strongest man
15:43that was very impressive first time at world's strongest man first win well done thank you so
15:51much yeah i had to dig in for that one and it meant a lot so to come out i had no idea how many mitch
15:56had done as well beside me so i was just pulling for my life i left nothing out there well you cannot
16:01underestimate just how difficult this event is i mean we saw you took a tumble at the end there are
16:06you doing okay yeah it was just equipment i think my suit was probably a little bit too tight because
16:12the bar almost sits lower as well so it's just it's the most awkward setup that ever like it's so
16:17difficult so i think on a bar and plates i'll probably be good for like three fifth for 10 reps
16:22it's just different gravy out here in the california sun as well it's it's tough and for you in this
16:27group up against a former world's strongest man mitchell hooper how did that feel to you you know
16:34going head to head yeah it's really cool i've been i've been unlucky enough to have to go against
16:38mitch a few times now and you get used to it so i love coming in as an underdog it's what i live
16:43for and yeah just just really pleased to be holding my own world's strongest man it's absolutely
16:48crazy to me you absolutely are is this giving you the the confidence the pep and the step for
16:52the next event absolutely yeah the next event's probably my worst event on paper so for me i just
16:57need to get in and and minimize the damage basically but i'm in a really good spot guys i just need
17:02to keep keep working hard not let my foot off the gas and just keep going keep up well done paddy
17:07thanks so much cheers it is a good spot paddy has now moved to the top of group two one and a half
17:14points ahead of former champion mitchell hooper a happy paddy haynes for now but ahead of him on
17:21the spd world's strongest man is one of the hardest tests of all the overhead medley right behind him one of
17:27the hardest men to beat welcome back to the spd world's strongest man in sacramento california
17:46next up for group two it's the overhead medley a tough one this a test of pressing power dumbbell
17:52log circus barbell and axel with just 75 seconds to complete a combined seven reps
18:00once again it was big bryce johnson out first the former dallas cowboy raising a chair hosting a score
18:08of six reps in just over 65 seconds an impressive display to see how our remaining four men get on
18:16it's over to colin bryce and danny wallace
18:26well thank you james johnson we move to wes dowinski
18:32the kiwi matthew rag
18:45we talked earlier didn't we about um paddy haynes being a huge childhood fan
18:50of world's strongest man dowinski he actually has a dog named after our head referee
18:56magnus magnus so good they named it twice magnus man magnus four times world's strongest man
19:05that's been the far side at the moment and on the near side dave warner
19:11that's uh dowinski wow that was impressive just rolled it out wow goodness me a straight lift i was about
19:19to say top that matt rag and he did well rag moves ahead an elegant leap
19:27that's really impressive these guys aren't so used to these circus barbells
19:34very wide grip there for matt rag just make it make it difficult to get his elbows under it
19:41he does eventually there's a thick bars as well there's not much bend on them
19:50oh dowinski gets under it has he got anything left to hit it yes oh more than enough
19:59five seconds now the clean phase of this is proving to be very difficult for rag especially
20:04did he did he managed to get one in the end there i don't think he did well dowinski did
20:12it seems to have caused him some discomfort matthew rag manages four and 31.07
20:21so quick in the log so good there
20:23he did it for magnus the dog indeed managed to get one with his circus bar but it's so awkward
20:43remember the first heat though tom stolman he did all of them representing canada the former well mitchell
20:50hoop up world's strongest man he's a massive favorite here holds the world record for the axle at 218 kilos
21:01yeah he gets to that last implement i don't see him having problems
21:05and paddy haynes a bit of an unknown quantity with these
21:10though he said earlier this is not his best event he's not a tremendous presser not by these standards
21:17anyway his first 90 kilo dumbbell he's very athletic shouldn't have too much problem with this
21:23he can really get his legs into it there we go good catch
21:27you don't even need to press it if you're explosive enough
21:31the log for hooper
21:34well he's not rushing it hooper that's interesting i thought he might be attacking it like matt rag did
21:39it's a bit quicker a little rhythm there
21:44daddy on to the log
21:47i don't know how's hooper going to handle this circus bar belt
21:50he's ever touched one before but that was pretty easy
21:56one more of these
21:58and he might be in line to beat what stoltman managed which was 56.95 we know how good he is at this axel
22:06just one rep at this is all you need and you're right he's got plenty of time here he's
22:11had plenty of time
22:13it's tight he hasn't done it he hasn't locked it out yet
22:18well has he made a mistake here
22:22well he's done enough to win this heat anyway oh getting that rep was massive for paddy but did he
22:27drop it on his foot he said this was his worst event
22:30that'll get him third just behind price
22:36this is huge for paddy haynes
22:39not such a bad presser after all
22:42absolutely
22:45he's excelled at his strengths and well he's not lost too many points here on his weakness great stuff
22:50the winner of the overhead medley with seven objects in a time of 59.74
22:58let's hear it from mitchell hooper well it was very good
23:03he'll be thinking it wasn't quite good enough though
23:07gosh he had an overhead with time to spare but struggled so badly to lock it out
23:13a rare mitch glitch
23:18well it might be a mild misfire for the moose but still good enough to take first in his heat
23:24ahead of bryce johnson in second paddy getting third
23:32top two looking good after three events in heat two no surprise to see mitchell hooper there in top
23:37spot but how about paddy haynes only half a point behind yeah paddy's doing amazing beating mitchell
23:42hooper in the deadlift mitchell hooper as of now is the second best deadlifter on the planet that's
23:48a fact so for paddy to beat him incredible what do you make of mitchell's performances so far we know
23:53he came into the competition in great form but has he looked his usual flawless best he's not i mean
23:58the deadlift was definitely down for him and then you look at the overhead medley that last implement
24:02the axle it just took that extra second to sort of get his balance and even though he won the event
24:08it's going to cost him overall because it didn't beat tom in the previous group so you've got to
24:12look at the points going into the final he needs to keep on top of things yeah tom stoltman back in
24:17heat one posted the fastest time on the overhead medley and he also posted the fastest time on our
24:22next event the titans toss let's see how mitchell matches up to that as we rejoin colin and danny
24:27yes thank you very much james we move on to this event the titans toss i'm not sure how
24:34many meetings were had about what to name this but we must just accept it matthew rag well he was
24:42first up wasn't he in the aptly named titans toss and 10 sacks each one weighing 14 kilograms
24:50getting further and further away matt managed nine in 32.22 seconds so he's set the standard
25:00representing canada wesley to obliterate that time
25:06wesley dewinski and that's just world's strongest man final of course he broke the world record
25:12in cake tossing paddy haynes and paddy haynes paired against him he's a great deadlifter paddy so
25:24normally that equals someone who's very good at throwing as well now then and he's first to the
25:31sack and off it goes these first ones so far haven't been a problem for anybody each one getting a
25:39each pair getting a meter further away starting at seven the last one though 12 meters well
25:47haynes hit the upright there and that one went under and another doesn't make it for haynes
25:54it's on six to win ski now hit the upright one two there's tenth oh no i don't think it went over
26:03did it no good four marks for style what an effort tom stoltman did get all ten over remember oh didn't
26:11go over either last one here for haynes i think this is uh pretty unlikely it's even further away
26:18no well a good effort and really a first try at this veins and wesley dowinski yeah no kidding
26:27first time for everyone at the titans toss
26:32dowinski so close six in 18.72 for paddy haynes
26:37but bettering that of course the champion of this kind of event dowinski managed nine just shy of 30 seconds
26:51when he delivered he was expected to didn't quite get the 10th let's have a look at that one again look
26:57at the angle he had to throw it at to get the right trajectory wow ended up on the floor but he gave it
27:05everything and he had to he's five and a half points behind paddy he's a big result here big bryce johnson
27:15next to take this on
27:19against the ever confident mitchell hooper
27:24how will he do we've seen him glitching slightly as i mentioned will mitch glitch
27:29it's maybe not the mitch we've seen over the last seven internationals that's for sure where he's won
27:36every one of them almost at a canter at times he is very good at throwing but he needs to put in a
27:44solid performance here he's only just ahead of paddy haynes and the overall scores big bryce
27:49it's slower didn't manage that one he's got plenty of power though oh hooper immediately rectifying his
27:57technique adding a little extra power look at the flatness of uh big bryces
28:06he's so tall he's almost launching them dead flat that one's hit the upright hoop has done eight
28:12what can bryce do with the last one oh no no no no just ripping it that way too early show your
28:20appreciation a little panic there for bryce it felt like maybe some fatigue as well it makes sense but
28:27the hooper managed eight yeah another mitch glitch i guess he wanted ten and now he's been beaten by two
28:36men who did nine that's hurt with four sandbags at a time of 17.75 so big bryce let's hear it only
28:46managed four 17.75 seconds he had some wild power but just shooting in the wrong direction and mitchell
28:54hooper surprise finishes third eight in 27.97
29:00another hitch for mitch and with paddy himself having a baddie too that's a great result for
29:07matthew rag and wes dowinski and their hopes of making top two while wes is with michelle
29:14wes it was amazing to watch you in that event and we know just how good you are at throwing was this
29:19something that you were looking forward to uh yeah very much so um having not the best day yesterday and
29:24having this in my back pocket was definitely uh my ace of spades and i knew i had to go a bit quicker
29:29with mitch going up uh last so i pushed the pace and i guess uh he made a little mistake and i
29:35capitalized you were a rookie last year your first time at world's strongest man coming back again does
29:40it feel any different uh yeah it's not quite as nerve-wracking but it's still world's strongest man and
29:46the nerves are always going well you're doing really well and it's good to see you well done wes thank you
29:50very much wes dowinski moving up to third place now overall well within range of paddy haynes in
29:58second spot paddy himself though just one and a half points behind the misfiring mitchell so it's all
30:04to play for coming up we have the finale of group two four men in contention for two spots in the grand
30:10final we'll make it through we'll find out when we return welcome back to sunny sacramento and a
30:29dramatic finale for group two of the spd world's strongest man four men are still in contention for
30:35the two places in the final four stones will now decide who goes through it's the stone medley rock
30:42against the clock an all-new event for 2025 but a time trial of ancient origins with four natural
30:48stones to be pressed shoulder carried and lifted out first and completing his debut performance at
30:55world's strongest man was the usa's bryce johnson the man from dodge county wisconsin lifting two stones
31:01in a time of just under 46 seconds next up on the trial by stone and needing a monster performance
31:07here matthew rag over to colin and danny well thank you jane yes the stone medley different weights
31:17different tasks incredibly hard incredibly awkward on the whistle and it starts with probably the hardest
31:25element first this rectangular stone weighing only 123 kilos is very difficult to balance and press overhead
31:35and paddy haynes will be watching this worried because he's not a great presser by these standards
31:42it's so awkward if someone like matt rag were to do a great performance here though it hasn't started
31:47that well he could in theory still steal second place and go to the final he's gonna get this up on
31:56his chest which is not comfortable oh no thought he had it well that's already 45 seconds gone that walk
32:09he was just doing there so jesse's would be not uh feeling a little faint i think which isn't good
32:16he's run ragged thank you his name's right
32:22so getting this back up i mean this is now a herculean task
32:26he's exhausted it's already beaten him once
32:29now twice 20 seconds this is a really hard first element under 23 kilos this is just so difficult
32:41in this sun as well the heat show you appreciate it ladies and gentlemen from matthew rag that's his
32:47chances over that's a real shame for matt rag a man who finished fourth in the world's strongest man
32:56final last year will not get a chance to compete for that this year the next athlete out to the
33:02natural stone medley wesley darwinski so darwinski
33:11observed that he's the man in third position at the moment ready
33:16nipping at the heels of paddy haynes
33:27what can he do different to matt rag leaning back is it looks like a bad idea but it actually helps you
33:35rest it on your chest and give you the necessary time to get your hands in position
33:39still that kind of weight pressing down on the chest for too long
33:48yes just the answer it can go wrong so they start to feel fake pretty quick
33:54you just gotta get it off your chest no matter what and that's just what happened there well well well
34:00if you don't get even a single rep it's a zero points it'll mean paddy will be in the final
34:07even having to do a lift he's taking those straps off
34:13it hasn't helped 90 seconds you're allowed though he's still got plenty of time 30 seconds to go
34:19he's going to give up just yet magnus fair magnuson happy for him to have another go
34:24let's go let's go can he get one overhead lift
34:33a little chin there just one lift could get him huge points here but no
34:39and he's beaten
34:41put your hands together for wesley so both rag and dowinski beaten by the natural stones
34:49which presents us actually with a very interesting situation
34:59because paddy haynes is up next and rag and dowinski failing means paddy knows
35:07he is now in the final before he even touches these stones which is extraordinary colin given
35:13this was a childhood ambition now here he is on his debut and he knows he's in the final yes only
35:22done four or five events and he's in the final now as we know pressing not exactly his favorite element
35:30in strongman if he were to get this you never know he could put pressure on mitchell hooper oh yes
35:37well that's huge for paddy haynes huge for his confidence he could still win the group hey the
35:43pressing part is over now he's just got to lift this to his shoulder he's a great stone lifter
35:48then we move on to the next element which is a carry this weighs about 350 pounds
35:5625 stone up onto your shoulder well he manages it with relative ease by lifting bryce johnson to your
36:07shoulder he looks happy well this element should be the easiest part for paddy it might weigh 400 pounds 180
36:19kilos but once he gets it up he's tremendous at carrying events well it's fast from haynes
36:29and it's made in the shape of the husabelt stone a famous icelandic stone and he's carrying it well to
36:36the finish section yes he has one element left but he's almost out of time
36:43but he still well touches it ladies and gentlemen extraordinary stuff from paddy haynes a star is
36:55born absolutely and putting in a huge performance there he knows he's into the final already before
37:02this event but this all counts to the start of the final how many points he'll carry into it
37:09one twenty two oh three that was huge three in one minute 22 it's better than tom stolton did in his heat
37:15just extraordinary from paddy haynes
37:19deserves it well follow that mitch still have one man to go
37:31if he hadn't taken quite so long over the first element he might have got that last stone up
37:35huddle for daisy why not perfectly legal representing canada on two mitchell hooper then world's
37:48strongest man faced a few difficulties so far in these events
37:56we're gonna answer any criticism
37:58it's just this element i see people having problems with coming at all
38:08he's answering that question absolutely that was impressive
38:12this is fast as well
38:15goodness me rolls it up there it is
38:20i mean it is possible to do all four elements
38:22we saw that with austin andrade in the first heat he did all four
38:30stone chicken nugget
38:34this is very fast very confident
38:38round it goes
38:40that's 43 seconds
38:43wow this is really quick and gerade just made it in in time the 90 second time limit
38:48could hooper do it under a minute
38:52they get the glitching
38:56and moose is back with that one
39:00well
39:03extraordinary isn't it
39:04it's like the way he came back there the speed of it
39:08that's why he is known as super hooper
39:11let's hear it
39:12i'm glad to say that stone is well over 400 pounds
39:16you can
39:17dealt with ease and he wins the last event
39:20the national stone medley paddy haynes takes second incredible moment for him
39:25and he's with michelle now
39:29paddy haynes you are on fire out there completed three stones and you're sailing through to the final
39:36just give me an inkling of what's going on in your mind right now
39:40it's mostly disbelief right now
39:43it's amazing i thought there's a chance
39:45with these events i can make the final but i really had to execute
39:48i mean the guys left the door open for me a bit
39:51but i i came through them when it mattered
39:53could not be happier i'm so happy
39:57you have clearly exceeded your own expectations
40:01to have your girlfriend daisy here as well supporting you what does that mean
40:07it means the world this is so much more than an individual sport
40:10she helps me every single day i've also got one of my best mates and my family in the crowd as
40:14well all the way from england just to do this for them for everyone my coach my nutritionist
40:19everyone that's involved in this i just get to lift the weights they're all the guys that do the work
40:24so tell you what the crowd are going wild for you you've you've definitely got their support
40:28on your first year in world's strongest man so you're in the final now paddy what's the next goal
40:34i haven't really thought that far ahead to be honest my goal here is just
40:38to become part of the furniture get here every year keep representing my country
40:42and keep making everyone i care about proud um and let's see what we can do in the final
40:46congratulations paddy thank you so much
40:51so very happy paddy haynes joins very sober mitchell hooper they will go through to the grand final
41:00where the story so far with three heats still to come
41:03well we've got williams we've got haynes stolman in second but so far in the lead mitchell hooper with 10
41:08points
41:12mitchell hooper that was a seriously impressive way to finish off that heat
41:16yeah thank you i i knew i had made it through to the finals since points carry over it's good to
41:21have a good result right uh not perfect but close and i'll take it for now yeah you say not perfect
41:27and i think we all noticed that mitchell hooper last year made no mistakes came in flying colors
41:32there were a few things in the heats like the axle press and the sandbags didn't get the 10 over
41:38any reasoning for that man i've won the last seven shows i've won the last 10 of 11. i've made a couple
41:44of minor mistakes along the way and for now minor mistakes are minor mistakes we're through to the
41:48finals i'll probably have either nine or ten points to start and hopefully the mistakes are over we'll clean
41:54it up but to be imperfect and still potentially going as the leader into the finals where i have good
41:59events i'll survive mitchell the the heats have been especially intense this year you're a guy who
42:06keeps your emotions so much under control but how much would it mean to you to go to the final and
42:11take that title back it would be great it would mean 12 months of uh undefeated strongman competition
42:16yeah it'd be eight in a row there'd be multiple victories across all the major shows and would start
42:21to cement me as one of the greatest full time and that would be a pretty cool thing to tell the kids
42:25down the track absolutely and you wouldn't have to hear this word former again
42:30former socks so yeah it'd be good to be current okay excellent congratulations so mitch is through
42:35tom's already there of course and next time we'll be finding out who's joining them from heat three
42:39it features britain shane flowers but tess kiloskowski the terminator and also an american who's here for
42:45the first time but who many people are predicting big things for that's lucas hatton find out how they
42:49will get on next time on the spd world's strongest man
