00:00Volunteers collected 166 km of waste, mostly plastic bottles, within two hours at Pantai
00:09Kekabu in Marang on Saturday. Marang's Geng Plastic Ija chief Rahim Embong said 25 volunteers
00:16participated in the Plogging Santai Pulau Kekabu program. It is said the North-East monsoon has
00:22brought large amounts of overseas waste to Terengganu's beaches, with most consisting of
00:27foreign-branded bottles not sold in Malaysia. The cleanup aims to maintain a positive image for
00:33tourists and to also educate the public on keeping beaches clean. Collected waste will be sent to
00:39disposal centers, with plastic bottles going to a recycling center in Kampung Undang.
00:45The Plogging Santai program has been held regularly since Marang Geng Plastic Ija
00:49NGO was established in 2019, focusing on cleaning various beaches around Terengganu.
