00:34a quarter of her actual age flawlessly,
00:38she steeped herself in the ways of teen girls.

00:42But unconsciously, she just became younger.
00:45It was crazy to observe.
00:46Why can't I just be like everyone else?

00:50I don't think any of us are very far away
00:52from our 14-year-old selves.
00:54It's such a strong memory how great it was
00:56and how awful it was.
00:58And I just sort of fell in love with the character.
01:00Jim has this amazing ability
01:02to write straight into the heart of a character.

01:06Performance capture gives actors the opportunity
01:09to play characters that they could not otherwise play.
01:12And Kiri's character and Sigourney's performance
01:15are the perfect example of that,
01:17given by one of the great actresses of our time.

01:22I have had to work completely differently
01:25than I ever have before
01:26because you do have to strip away
01:28all of that Sigourney Weaver, whoever that is.
01:32And it's been an amazing experience
01:34to go back in time
01:35and be with that person every day.
01:37She clicks into the character that she is
01:39and it's like talking to a 14-year-old.
01:41I find it fascinating
01:42that she can channel this young girl.
01:45Whatever it is, I'm enjoying watching it.

01:52To watch her, it's such a work of art.
01:54You're watching like a flower unfold
01:56and all of a sudden you do not recognize
01:58that you are talking to a woman that is 5'10".
02:01That has walked this earth for decades

02:07There so clearly is mischievous little girl in Sigourney.
02:11She can be as imperious as you want
02:12and she can also be a complete knucklehead.
02:16It's a big journey for her
02:17and for the audience with her.
02:18But it's okay because you care about her.
02:20She has a luminous quality.
02:22To see her playing a 14-year-old kid,
02:25it was magic.
02:26It's what acting is all about.
