00:00Sacramento, California.
00:28it's really a town rich in strongman history it was here four years ago that tom stoltman won his
00:34first ever title it was here the following year that his rival mitcher hooper announced himself
00:40on the strongman stage well as the pair continue their dusty duel what will sack town hold this
00:45year tom's already shown what he can produce now it's the turn of the moose
00:50in 2024 i won every strongman show on the professional circuit bar world's strongest man
01:04i've won seven of the last seven shows and ten of the last 11 shows
01:09i've been on a tear that i can't really comprehend
01:14other people have referred to me as the greatest strong man of all time
01:16and one day i might sit back and reflect on where i might be
01:20coming out on top of world's strongest man 2025 would only add to that legacy
01:31physically i feel great i feel ready to win the competition i'm the best
01:35physical shape of my life so it's going to be a tall task to me
01:43well that's the moose and this is the beast eddie hall eddie two years ago mitchell took tom's title
01:49away can he do it again i think you can you gotta look what mitch has done in the last 11 months
01:55alone he's won seven international strongman events he's looking absolutely on fire bang in
02:01form you've also got in this group the men who finished fourth and sixth in last year's final
02:06that's matt rag and westowinski and another man who's not been with us before awards strongest man but
02:10who is potentially a real contender paddy haynes paddy the real buddy haynes just came second at
02:16europe's strongest man if you've got to think if you're the top two in europe you've got to be the
02:21top 10 in the world well that's the plan for paddy let's find out then heat two gets underway now as
02:26we join colin bryce and daddy wallace well thank you james thank you eddie here we go then colin who do
02:33we have what a stacked lineup it is and we have another moose canada's wes dowinski a finalist last
02:39year from britain the pride of banbury paddy haynes no doubt about it mitchell hooper is the man to beat
02:49phenomenal athlete and wsm winner and you've heard from colin bryce but how about a new bryce big bryce
02:56six foot five and 400 pounds and rounding off the group is matt rag who finished fourth last year
03:01in the final safely through to the final already three-time world's strongest man tom stoltman
03:06and for the first time eddie williams of australia so event one the loading medley column yes indeed
03:14it's a sandbag fest for the first event here we have to load them into this cyber truck we'll begin
03:21with the man they call the dark horse patty the real baddie haynes his debut this year
03:32lovely jump on him he's quite an athlete paddy in lane number two the former sbd
03:39world's strongest man representing canada and to beat mitchell hooper incredible strong man
03:46not afraid to let us know it either no he isn't no he's uh he knows how good he is he was very
03:54thrilled to be up against paddy haynes in this event because paddy is one of the quickest men on the
03:59circuit and the hoopoe can just keep pace with him and he'll know that he's done a great time well the
04:07horse and the moose pretty much neck and neck he is fast paddy hence
04:12is actually just ahead of him here this is a really good time let's not forget this isn't
04:19just about becoming top two in your heat and making it to the final it's also about how the others do in
04:25their heats and how your performance matches up against them because it will count towards the
04:30final if you make it well that's fast from mitchell hooper and he nearly packed himself in there
04:37paddy haynes 41.26 let's hear it from paddy he enjoyed that didn't he four in 41.26
04:47and with the fastest time of the day mitchell hooper
04:52ahead 38.6 that is one tenth of a second quicker than tom stolman because it matters
05:01that will count towards the final assuming he makes it there but that's a great time indeed
05:07in lane one so now the turn of matthew rag from new zealand third time here
05:18they get fourth in the final last year so close to being on the podium representing canada
05:25dewinski stable mate of the moose
05:29coached by uh jf carron there's so many who come out of jf carol's circuit and he's a tremendous
05:40athlete made the final last year sixth in his debut who knows how far he could go this year but we've got
05:46two wsm finalists from last year coming we've just seen hooper this is a stacked heat no doubt this is
05:53fast from dewinski has been recovering from a few injuries he's been battling his way back
06:00maddie rag did a great pickup there he was behind dewinski going into the pickup and he
06:05managed to load it first now then if you look he's doing it pick and then turn which is a bit of a gamble
06:13which means you take a couple less steps saves you a little time if you can do it he's done it well look at
06:19that from matt rag left dewinski standing there oh you gotta gamble you're this close to the each
06:31other in terms of performance it's paid off time of 49.14 so four in 49.14 for dewinski puts him in fourth so
06:41far a faster time of course from matt rag four in 43.79 wow that's a great time but it's tough to take
06:52third with that paddy haynes and mitch was so good so the fastest moose in the west mitchell hooper holds
07:01the lead still to come though is big bryce johnson he's a massive man but can he move we'll find out when
07:08we return on the spd world's strongest man welcome back to the spd world's strongest man it's the
07:25opening event for group two the loading medley last man to go is the former dallas cowboy big bryce
07:31johnson over to little bryce with danny wallace well thank you james and yes we continue with bryce
07:37johnson from wisconsin in america we've had a mouse infestation here at worlds recently and this is
07:47the best solution we could come up with to attract them into the audience so johnson
07:58he's from the dairy land the dairy lands where they call the the fans of the football team the
08:04cheese heads that's what that was he's making light work with these sandbags so far
08:10he's a big man and there's a lot of running to be done here interesting to see just how his fitness
08:17is his first world's strongest man first event and he's shifting along here he's up against some
08:26really quick men though with the picks of hooper and paddy haynes and rag did a great time and a
08:31fumble oh no it is a fumble from big bryce this heat beat down on him as well the addition of the gloves
08:43well in it goes well the time's taken when his hands are off there's magnus fair magnuson the head
08:50ref would have been taking the time and look at that fumble that cost him three four five seconds maybe
08:56more let's hear it for bryce johnson well all four 51.83 cheesy but not easy for johnson then in event
09:08one paddy haynes making a great start but mitchell hooper top three seconds clear and faster two than
09:13tom stoltman in group one the moose is with michelle ackley well done mitch starting off strong with the
09:20first event a tenth of a second faster than tom stoltman just how important is that first win
09:26yeah well look now that the heat counts towards the finals that matters and that's a good thing
09:30because it means we're all going to have to put in full efforts uh through 10 events if you're lucky
09:34enough to make the finals so it means a lot to get off to a good start you shake off the nerves and now
09:38it's just another strong man show be fair to say in the last 12 months you've had a stellar year
09:43seven consecutive wins with international competitions what does that do to your confidence
09:49levels does that give you a sense of calm or invincibility even i wouldn't go so far as
09:54invincibility but certainly confidence in myself that no one else can have in themselves and
09:58ultimately if i get nervous or concerned about an event i can think i have such a strong history
10:03of being consistently the best one uh in recent times so i can lean on that and other people can't
10:09they have to prove to themselves at the same time they're proving to everyone else i've already proved
10:12it to myself i've already proved to everyone else it's just time to repeat deadlift next how you
10:16feeling uh great that's uh deadlift reps haven't been beaten about 18 months so it should be another good
10:21result good luck thank you well mitchell hooper top of the pile after one event but will it be
10:27another five points in the bag as we move on to event two it is the deadlift for reps and there are
10:35350 kilos on the bar and 60 seconds on the clock for as many reps as possible hooper competing here
10:42remember not only with this group but with our first two finalists stoltman and williams who managed
10:47seven reps back in group one our first man out today american debutante bryce johnson bounced back
10:53from event one's disappointment to match that seven with a mighty display of static strength could he
10:59take the win here let's find out with colin and danny well thank you and matt rag i was gonna say
11:07warming up but uh he looks boiling already and calm again not cool but collected wesley dowinski
11:22i think matt rag will be putting a lot of pressure on himself here he's a great deadlifter especially
11:27for reps leaves the towel on his head a little bit of shade it is nearly a hundred degrees here in
11:35sacramento so not exactly great dead lifting down weather
11:43what is good dead lifting well i don't know i was just thinking that as i said it danny well
11:48dowinski pulling ahead on to five now probably colder to shed some heat dowinski wow this is impressive
11:57i thought rag would be what the one who'd be making the running here
11:59not at all dowinski for seven oh yes he locks it out well what more can dowinski give us
12:13slow and steady is the game if he can get an eighth
12:18not that much time left though five seconds to go he's got to lock it out
12:23he's not locked it out yet no well that was so close there
12:29i think you'd have been forgiven as a referee for giving that but he was still soft
12:33you can lock it out you can hold it and he couldn't
12:37currently tying the first with seven that rag
12:39what an effort that last one was that eighth but no he got pulled back down you can tell that
12:52it's not a good rep
12:56dowinski there david is all yeah much quicker dowinski surprisingly so seven seems to be the mark isn't it
13:06same as big price and in group one of course tom stoltman man is seven and eddie williams williams as
13:14well so if one man can take his the eight might as well be mitchell hooper nipping at his heels
13:24banbury's paddy haynes yeah paddy doesn't look like he's the strongest man in the world necessarily
13:30he's not carrying any excess weight that's for sure but he's a great deadlifter and a former long
13:36distance runner so was Mitchell hooper he used to run marathons surprisingly we're not playing
13:42top trumps here i'm just trying to i'm just saying a bit of color well i'll start from hooper
13:52you can see paddy's got very long arms that's a big assistance in this kind of thing they're
13:56getting longer by the second who perceives rather deliberate a little bit shaky at six paddy's on six
14:03going for seven there's the magic number i'm not sure hooper is going to take the win here he
14:13seemed pretty confident coming into this he's not a man weighed down by self-doubt it's true
14:19there it is number eight no no came out of his grip but what about haynes this could be a great
14:28moment just hanging on by his fingertips he's done it oh but at what cost that great performance there
14:38from paddy haynes a bit of concern here well mitchell's going to be unhappy with that what happened there
14:45it came out his grip and he had straps on that's very unusual a little bit of oxygen should get him
14:53back on his feet he'll be very happy with that that's an event win at world's strongest man in his
15:02debut where's he come from you know i mean banbury but i mean on the seat
15:11well certainly gave it his all and he has risen paddy haynes eight reps finishes first
15:20this is a real childhood ambition realized as his girlfriend daisy he's wanted this to appear here
15:31since he was a kid and now he's beaten hooper yes moose's deadlift winning streak set firmly back to
15:38zero by britain's paddy haynes what a way to claim your first ever event win at world's strongest man
15:43paddy that was very impressive first time at world's strongest man first win well done thank
15:50you so much yeah i had to dig in for that one and it meant a lot so to to come out i had no
15:56idea how many mitch had done as well beside me so i was just pulling for my life i left nothing out
16:00there we cannot underestimate just how difficult this event is i mean we saw you took a tumble
16:05at the end there are you doing okay yeah it was just equipment i think my suit was probably a
16:10little bit too tight because the bar almost sits lower as well so it's just it's the most awkward
16:15setup that ever like it's so difficult so i think on a bar and plates i'll probably be good for like
16:20three fifths for 10 reps it's just different gravy out here in the california sun as well it's it's tough
16:26and for you in this group up against a former world's strongest man mitchell hooper how did that
16:33feel to you you know going head to head yeah it's really cool i've been i've been unlucky enough to
16:38have to go against mitch a few times now and you get used to it it's uh i love coming in as an
16:42underdog it's what i live for and yeah just just really pleased to be holding my own world's
16:47strongest man it's absolutely crazy to me absolutely are is this giving you the the
16:50confidence the pep and the step for the next event absolutely yeah the next event's probably
16:55my worst event on paper so for me i just need to get in and and minimize the damage basically but
17:01i'm in a really good spot guys i just need to keep keep working hard not let my foot off the gas and
17:05just keep going keep up well done paddy thanks so much cheers it is a good spot paddy has now moved
17:12to the top of group two one and a half points ahead of former champion mitchell hooper a happy paddy
17:19haynes for now but ahead of him on the spd world's strongest man he's one of the hardest tests of all
17:24the overhead medley right behind him one of the hardest men to beat
17:41welcome back to the spd world's strongest man in sacramento california
17:46next up for group two it's the overhead medley a tough one this a test of pressing power dumbbell
17:52log circus barbell and axle with just 75 seconds to complete a combined seven reps
18:00once again it was big bryce johnson out first the former dallas cowboy raising a cheer hosting a
18:07score of six reps in just over 65 seconds an impressive display to see how our remaining four
18:15men get on it's over to colin bryce and danny wallace
18:26well thank you james johnson we move to wes dowinski
18:32we talked earlier didn't we about um paddy haynes being a huge childhood fan
18:50of world's strongest man dowinski he actually has a dog named after our head referee
18:56magnus magnus so good they named it twice magnus van magnussen four times world's strongest man
19:05that's been the far side at the moment and on the near side dave warner
19:11that's uh dowinski wow that was impressive just rolled it out wow goodness me a straight lift i was about to
19:19say top that matt rag and he did rag moves ahead an elegant leap it's really impressive
19:29these guys aren't so used to these circus barbells very wide grip there for matt rag just make it
19:38make it difficult to get his elbows under it he does eventually
19:43there's a thick bars as well there's not much bend on them
19:50oh dowinski gets under it has he got anything left to hit it yes oh more than enough
19:59five seconds now the clean phase of this is proving to be very difficult for rag especially
20:05did he manage to get one in the end there i don't think he did well dowinski did
20:10it seems to have caused him some discomfort matthew rag manages four and 31.07
20:21so quick in the log and was so good there
20:25dowinski manages five one minute and five for wesley dowinski
20:32he did it for magnus the dog indeed managed to get one with his circus barbell it's so awkward
20:43remember the first heat though tom stolman he did all of them representing canada the former
20:50well mitchell hooper world's strongest man he's a massive favorite here holds the world record for
20:56the axle at 218 kilos yeah if he gets to that last implement i don't see him having problems
21:05and paddy haynes a bit of an unknown quantity with these
21:10though he said earlier this is not his best event he's not a tremendous presser not by these standards
21:17anyway his first 90 kilo dumbbell he's very athletic shouldn't have too much problem with this
21:23he can really get his legs into it there we go good catch you don't even need to press it if you're
21:29explosive enough to the log for hooper
21:34well he's not rushing it hooper that's interesting i thought he might be attacking it like matt rag did
21:40just a bit quicker a little rhythm there
21:44daddy on to the log
21:45i don't know how's hooper going to handle this circus barbell i don't know he's having touched one
21:51before but that was pretty easy
21:56one more of these and he might be in line to beat what stoltman managed which was 56.95 we know how good
22:04he is at this axle just one rep at this is all you need and you're right he's got plenty of time here he's
22:10or had plenty of time it's tight he hasn't done it he hasn't locked it out yet
22:18well has he made a mistake here well he's done enough to win this he anyway oh getting that rep was
22:26massive for paddy but did he drop it on his foot he said this was his worst event
22:30that'll get him third just behind price this is huge for paddy haynes not such a bad presser after
22:41all absolutely he's excelled at his strengths and well he's not lost too many points here on his
22:49weakness great stuff the winner of the overhead medley with seven objects in a time of 59.74 let's hear it
22:59from mitchell hooper well it was very good he'll be thinking it wasn't quite good enough though
23:07gosh he had an overhead with time to spare but struggled so badly to lock it out
23:13a rare mitch glitch
23:18well it might be a mild misfire for the moose but still good enough to take first in his heat
23:24ahead of bryce johnson in second paddy getting third
23:27top two looking good after three events in heat two no surprise to see mitchell hooper there in top
23:37spot but how about paddy haynes only half a point behind yeah paddy's doing amazing beating mitchell
23:42hooper in the deadlift mitchell hooper as of now is the second best deadlifter on the planet that's a
23:48fact so for paddy to beat him incredible what do you make of mitchell's performances so far we know he came
23:53into the competition in great form but has he looked his usual flawless best he's not uh i mean
23:58the deadlift was definitely down for him and then you look at the overhead medley that last implement
24:02the axle it just took that extra seconds to sort of get his balance and even though he won the event
24:08it's going to cost him overall because it didn't beat tom in the previous group so you've got to look
24:12at the points going into the final he needs to keep on top of things yeah tom stoltman back in
24:17heat one posted the fastest time on the overhead medley and he also posted the fastest time on our
24:22next event the titans toss let's see how mitchell matches up to that as we rejoin colin and danny
24:27yes thank you very much james we move on to this event the titans toss i'm not sure how many meetings
24:35were had about what to name this but we must just accept it matthew rag well he was first up wasn't he
24:43in the aptly named titans toss and 10 sacks each one weighing 14 kilograms getting further and further
24:52away matt managed nine in 32.22 seconds so he's set the standard representing canada
25:01now wesley to obliterate that time wesley dowinski that's just world's strongest man final of course
25:10he broke the world record in cake tossing and paddy haynes
25:16he's a great deadlifter paddy so normally that equals someone who's very good at throwing as well
25:29now then and he's first to the sack and off it goes these first ones so far haven't been a problem for
25:37anybody each one getting at each pair getting a meter further away starting at seven the last one
25:44though 12 meters well eight hit the up right there and that one went under and another doesn't make
25:53it for haynes he's on six dowinski now hitting the up right one two was tenth oh no i don't think it went
26:02over did it no four marks for style what an effort tom stoltman did get all ten over remember oh didn't go
26:11over either last one here for haynes i think this is uh pretty unlikely it's even further away
26:18now well a good effort and really a first try at this veins and wesley dowinski yeah no kidding
26:27first time for everyone at the titans toss
26:32dowinski so close six in 18.72 for paddy haynes
26:40but bettering that of course the champion of this kind of event dowinski managed nine
26:47just shy of 30 seconds when he delivered he was expected to didn't quite get the 10th let's have
26:56a look at that one again look at the angle he had to throw it at to get the right trajectory wow
27:03ended up on the floor but he gave it everything and he had to he's five and a half points behind paddy
27:09he needs a big result here big bryce johnson next to take this on
27:19up against the ever confident mitchell hooper
27:22how will he do we've seen him glitching slightly as i mentioned mitch glitch it's maybe not the mitch we've
27:32seen over the last seven internationals that's for sure where he's won every one of them almost
27:38and a canter at times he is very good at throwing but he needs to put in a solid performance here
27:45he's only just ahead of paddy haynes the overall scores big bryce it's slower
27:50he's got plenty of power though oh hooper immediately rectifying his technique
27:58adding a little extra power look at the flatness of uh big bryces
28:02he's he's so tall he's almost launching them dead flat that one's hit the upright hoop has done eight
28:12what can bryce do with the last one oh no no no no just ripping it that way too early
28:20show your appreciation a little panic there for bryce it felt like maybe some fatigue as well
28:26didn't make sense but hooper managed eight yeah another mitch glitch i guess
28:33he wanted 10 and now he's been beaten by two men who did nine
28:40that's her with four sandbags at a time of 17.75 so big bryce let's hear it only managed four 17.75
28:49seconds he had some wild power but just shooting in the wrong direction and mitchell hooper
28:55the surprise finishes third eight in 27.97
29:02another hitch for mitch and with paddy himself having a baddie too that's a great result for
29:07matthew rag and wes dowinski and their hopes of making top two while wes is with michelle
29:14was it was amazing to watch you in that event and we know just how good you are at throwing was this
29:19something that you were looking forward to uh yeah very much so um having not the best day yesterday
29:24and having this in my back pocket was definitely uh my ace of spades and i knew i had to go a bit
29:29quicker with mitch going up last so i pushed the pace and i guess uh he made a little mistake and i
29:35capitalized you were a rookie last year your first time at world's strongest man coming back again does
29:40it feel any different uh yeah it's not quite as nerve-wracking but it's still world's strongest
29:45man and the nerves are always going well you're doing really well it's good to see you well done
29:49wes thank you very much
29:54wes dowinski moving up to third place now overall well within range of paddy haynes in second spot
29:59paddy himself though just one and a half points behind the misfiring mitchell so it's all to play
30:05for coming up we have the finale of group two four men in contention for two spots in the grand final
30:11we'll make it through we'll find out when we return
30:27welcome back to sunny sacramento and a dramatic finale for group two of the spd world's strongest
30:32man four men are still in contention for the two places in the final four stones will now decide who
30:38goes through it's the stone medley rock against the clock an all new event for 2025 but a time
30:45trial of ancient origins with four natural stones to be pressed shoulders carried and lifted out
30:52first and completing his debut performance of world's strongest man was the usa's bryce johnson the man
30:58from dodge county wisconsin lifting two stones in a time of just under 46 seconds next up on the trial by
31:05stone and needing a monster performance here matthew rag over to colin and danny well thank you jane
31:12yes the stone medley different weights different tasks incredibly hard incredibly awkward on the
31:22whistle and it starts with uh probably the hardest element first this rectangular stone weighing only
31:29123 kilos is very difficult to balance and press overhead and paddy haynes will be watching this
31:38worried because he's not a great presser by these standards and it's so awkward if someone like matt
31:44rag were to do a great performance here though it hasn't started that well he could in theory
31:50still steal second place and go to the final he's gonna get this up on his chest which is not comfortable
32:00oh no thought he had it that's already 45 seconds gone that walk he was just doing there suggests he's
32:10maybe not uh feeling a little faint i think this isn't good he's run ragged thank you
32:19his name's right so getting this back up i mean this is now a herculean task he's exhausted it's already
32:28beaten him once oh no now twice 20 seconds this is a really hard first element i'm looking 23 kilos
32:39this is just so difficult in this sun as well the heat show your appreciation ladies and gentlemen from
32:46gutted with that that's his chances over that's a real shame for matt rag a man who finished fourth in
32:55the world's strongest man final last year will not get a chance to compete for that this year
33:00next athlete out to the natural stone medley wesley darwinsky so darwinsky
33:11observed that he's the man in third position at the moment ready nipping at the heels of paddy haynes
33:25what can he do different to matt rag leaning back is it looks like a bad idea but it actually helps
33:35you rest it on your chest and can give you the necessary time to get your hands in position
33:41still that kind of weight pressing down on the chest for too long
33:45yes is the answer it can go wrong so it's starting to feel faith pretty quick
33:54you just gotta get it off your chest no matter what and that's just what happened there
33:59well well well if you don't get even a single rep it's just zero points
34:04i don't mean paddy will be in the final even having to do a lift
34:08he's taking those straps off it hasn't helped 90 seconds you're allowed though he's still got plenty
34:16of time 30 seconds to go he's gonna give up just yet i'm gonna spare magnuson happy for him to have
34:24another go let's go let's go can he get one overhead lift
34:33a little chin there just one lift you get a huge points here but no
34:39and he's beaten put your hands together for wesley so both rag and dowinsky beaten by the natural stones
34:49which presents us actually with a very interesting situation
34:59because paddy haynes representing is up next and rag and dowinsky failing means paddy knows
35:07he is now in the final before he even touches these stones which is extraordinary colin given this was
35:13a childhood ambition and now here he is on his debut and he knows he's in the final yes only done four
35:22or five events and he's in the final now as we know pressing not exactly his favorite element in
35:30strongman if he were to get this you never know he could put pressure on mitchell hooper oh yes well
35:37that's huge for paddy haynes huge for his confidence he could still win the group okay the pressing part
35:44is over now he's just got to lift this to his shoulder he's a great stone lifter and we move
35:48on to the next element which is a carry this weighs about 350 pounds
35:5625 stone up onto your shoulder well manages it with relative ease by lifting bryce johnson to your
36:08shoulder he looks happy well this element should be the easiest part for paddy it might weigh 400 pounds 180
36:19kilos but once he gets it up he's tremendous at carrying events well it's fast from haynes
36:29and it's it made in the shape of the husabelt stone a famous icelandic stone and he's carrying it well to
36:36the finish section yes he has one element left but he's almost out of time
36:43but he still well touches it ladies and gentlemen extraordinary stuff from paddy haynes a star is
36:55born absolutely and putting in a huge performance there he knows he's into the final already before
37:02this event but this all counts to the start of the final how many points he'll carry into it
37:08one twenty two oh three that was huge three in one minute twenty two it's better than tom stolman did
37:14in his heat just extraordinary from paddy haynes deserves it well follow that mitch still have one man to go
37:24he hasn't taken quite so long over the first element it got that last stone up
37:37puddle for daisy
37:40why not perfectly legal representing canada on two mitchell hooper then world's strongest man
37:48oh he's faced a few difficulties so far in these events
37:56do you want to answer any criticism
38:02it's just this element i see people having problems with problem at all
38:08he's answering that criticism absolutely that was impressive
38:12good for him this is fast as well
38:13good as we rolls it up there it is
38:20i mean it is possible to do all four elements
38:24saw that with austin andrade in the first heat he did all four
38:30stone chicken nugget
38:31and this is very fast very confident
38:38where it goes
38:40that's 43 seconds wow this is really quick and friday just made it in in time the 90 second time limit
38:48can hooper do it under a minute
38:50they get the glitching
38:56and loose is back with that one
39:00well
39:03extraordinary isn't it with force it's like the way he came back there the speed of it
39:08that's why he is known as super hooper
39:12i'm glad to say that stone is well over 400 pounds you can
39:16dealt with ease and he wins the last event the national stone medley paddy haynes takes second
39:23incredible moment for him and he's with michelle now
39:29paddy haynes you are on fire out there completed three stones and you're sailing through to the final
39:36just give me an inkling of of what's going on in your mind right now it's it's mostly disbelief right
39:42now it's amazing i thought there's a chance with these events i can make the final but i really had
39:47to execute i mean the guys left the door open for me a bit but i i came through them when it mattered
39:53could not be happier i'm so happy you have clearly exceeded your own expectations to have your
40:02girlfriend daisy here as well supporting you what does that mean it means the world this is so much
40:09more than an individual sport she helps me every single day i've also got one of my best mates and
40:14my family in the crowd as well all the way from england just to do this for them for everyone my coach
40:19my nutritionist everyone that's involved in this i just get to lift the weights they're all the guys
40:23that do the work so tell you what the crowd are going wild for you you've you've definitely got their
40:27support on your first year in world's strongest man so you're in the final now paddy what's the next goal
40:34i haven't really thought that far ahead to be honest my goal here is just to become part of
40:39the furniture get here every year keep representing my country and keep making everyone i care about
40:44proud um and let's see what we can do in the final congratulations paddy thank you so much
40:51so very happy paddy haynes joins very sober mitchell hooper they will go through to the grand final
40:59where the story so far with three heats still to come well we've got williams we've got haynes
41:05stoltman in seconds but so far in the lead mitchell hooper with 10 points
41:12mitchell hooper that was a seriously impressive way to finish off that heat
41:16uh yeah thank you i i knew i had made it through to the finals since points carry over it's good to have
41:21a good result right uh not perfect but close and i'll take it for now yeah you say not perfect and i think
41:28we all noticed that mitchell hooper last year made no mistakes came in flying colors there were a few
41:32things in the heats like the axle press and the sandbags didn't get the 10 over any reasoning for
41:39that man i've won the last seven shows i've won the last 10 of 11 i've made a couple of minor mistakes
41:44along the way and for now minor mistakes are minor mistakes we're through to the finals i'll probably
41:49have either nine or ten points to start and hopefully the mistakes are over we'll clean it up but
41:55to be imperfect and still potentially going as the leader into the finals where i have good events
42:00i'll survive mitchell the heats have been especially intense this year you're a guy who keeps your
42:06emotions so much under control but how much would it mean to you to go to the final and take that title
42:11back it would be great it would mean 12 months of uh undefeated strongman competition yeah it'd be
42:17eight in a row there'd be multiple victories across all the major shows and would start to cement me as
42:22one of the greatest full-time and that would be a pretty cool thing to tell the kids down the track
42:26absolutely and you wouldn't have to hear this word former again former sucks so yeah it'd be good to
42:32be current okay excellent congratulations so mitch is through tom's already there of course and next
42:37time we'll be finding out who's joining them from heat three it features britain shane flowers but
42:42tess kilaskowski the terminator and also an american who's here for the first time but who many people
42:46are predicting big things for that's lucas hatton find out how they will get on next time on the spd
42:51world's strongest man
