Ahead of Sankranti 2026, the Andhra Pradesh government has unveiled a significant welfare move aimed at supporting rural communities. The state plans to launch 70 new Anna Canteens across villages, bringing affordable and nutritious meals closer to people who need them the most. These canteens will be established at mandal headquarters and key constituencies, extending the reach of the successful Anna Canteen model that has already benefited urban and town populations.
Construction work is expected to be completed by January 10, with the canteens scheduled to open between January 13 and 15, making it a special Sankranti gift for the people.
