04:53morning in real life, right?
04:54That's right.
04:55So I work at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which is a federal agency that Congress
04:59set up after the financial crisis to make sure that Americans are protected when they
05:03take out a mortgage or get a credit card.
05:05The agency's only been open for about 14 years, but in that time, we've gotten $21 billion
05:10back to consumers who were harmed.
05:12Wow.
05:12Well done.
05:13The morning of my tape day, I woke up, I checked my work email, and there was a message
05:17from the head of the agency that said, essentially, CFPB, we're shutting you down, you're done.

05:53I'm sending emails and panicking.
05:54I start driving to my campus to try to see if I can run into Dean.
05:57Day one, I actually, she's out at the office.
05:59And lo and behold, I get this email.
06:00I'm like, oh, thank God.
06:01Turns out it wouldn't be a problem involved.
06:03I'm just panicking here.
06:04So it's nice to just, you know, be able to escape the dreary, windowless parts of the hospital.
06:08Thank you, Dean Richards and Dr. Munchie.
06:10So Jeopardy is a good excuse.

06:28You know, even though I lost the first time, it's a good lesson that you can go after your childhood dreams,
06:33because this was my childhood dream.
06:34So I'm happy that my son gets to see that.
06:36And, you know, he's really been a trooper in the study.
06:38You know, my wife, I can't give her enough credit for helping me doing flashcards and stuff like that.
06:42But we have to kind of use every moment.
06:45So some of that is mealtime.
06:46So he's been very patient in helping.
06:48You're studying during dinner.
06:49Yeah.
06:49And now he picks up a little spice container and we'll ask him, like, three-year-old Jeopardy questions,

06:57And then he'll buzz in and say, what is a giraffe?
06:59Look at that.
