00:15:28Our next couple is former All Saints star Melanie Blatt
00:15:32and her partner Kai. Tonight they're dancing to the song Santa Baby and just like Santa,
00:15:37Mel's hoping to deliver the perfect gift for Christmas Day, a sophisticated Strictly performance.
00:15:47So I'm Mel and I'm going to be attempting to dance. I used to be in a band in the 90s called
00:15:54All Saints. It was amazing being with my best mates traveling the world but the dancing was
00:16:00a lot of plodding around. There was a lot of shoulder bopping back in those days. I don't
00:16:04think there's going to be any comparison to dancing on Strictly. I've always been nervous
00:16:10when I sang so this is going to be like times a million. I am at the point in my life where I
00:16:17know that I need to challenge myself. I mean you know it's a once in a lifetime experience.
00:16:21I'm just going to give it my best.
00:16:23We are going to be dancing the Etta Jazz. It's sort of Fred and Ginger-esque. A lot of
00:16:33sort of posing. I'm actually really enjoying it and that's probably got something to do with Kai
00:16:39as well. I mean he's so lovely. I wouldn't say I'm in my natural element here because I've got
00:16:46scoliosis and I've got metal rods in my spine and that makes me quite stiff. Yeah and let's give
00:16:51it to Gene Kelly. So if my life on Strictly wasn't hard enough Kai decided to bring him brothers into
00:16:57this relationship. It's just like to me a spiky weapon. I don't like doing anything half-hearted.
00:17:07Whether I can print it off I don't know but I'm going to give it a good go.
00:17:10So we've been so busy rehearsing and Kai's been so amazing teaching me this dance I thought I'd take
00:17:17him to the fairground and let him have some fun on some rides. What a lovely idea Mel had to bring
00:17:24me to the winter fair. It's not really Mel's cup of tea. I love it. I've never seen a fully grand human
00:17:33man enjoy fairground rides as much as Kai. It's really really joy watching him love it so much.
00:17:39I've been trying to get Mel on the roller coasters all day
00:17:52but she's finally agreed to one and I've heard it's really scary.

00:25:31You probably know me best for being in Westlife.
00:25:34Being in Westlife was one of the best experiences of my life,
00:25:37getting to travel around the world, being a pop star,
00:25:40which is something I never thought I was going to be as a kid.
00:25:43My house was always full of dancing.
00:25:45It was a huge part of growing up in Ireland.
00:25:47I wasn't very good at it, but I absolutely loved doing it.
00:25:51You know, strictly, it's an institution.
00:25:53It's part of British history.
00:25:54But the main reason I'm doing this is for my daughter, Ruby.
00:25:56She's absolutely obsessed with Strictly.
00:25:58I can't wait to see her little face when she sees me on Christmas Day.
