00:00Ian Moore is the editor of The Post's iconic Page Six.
00:03Ian, I cannot think of a better way to close out 2025 than to chat about the top stories
00:08that you guys covered this year, specifically the couples, the ones who made it, the ones
00:12who didn't, and the ones who still confuse us.
00:16So let's do this thing as a countdown, starting at number five with the one couple that confuses
00:22the hell out of me, Bill Belichick and the woman I affectionately refer to as his child
00:28bride, Jordan Hudson.
00:30I mean, he is in his 70s, she is in her 20s, and that barely scratches the surface of the
00:35headlines that this duo has made this year.
00:38So what makes our readers and me love to hate them?
00:45Well, Caitlin, they are a fascinating couple.
00:48And I think this story, you know, it actually started back in 2024.
00:51So it's been going strong for over a year.
00:55And I think what people are fascinated by is if it was just a story of him being 73 and
01:00she being 24, that would be a story in itself.
01:03And how they met, they allegedly met on a plane.
01:07And she's a pageant contestant and a sort of cheerleader, even though she's like well out
01:14of college, she's in and, and then he got, of course, he left the NFL and went into this
01:20high profile NCAA coaching job at UNC.
01:24But I think that beyond the shock of the age gap, et cetera, her involvement, her involvement
01:30in his career has been really fascinating.
01:32So the story is hitting on a number of levels.
01:34Like if you're a page six reader for celebrity gossip, you know, it's the age gap.
01:40But then like, if you're a sports fan, there's a lot in there and there's a lot of things
01:43she's doing, getting involved in his business.
01:45Also, for example, if you're into media, you know, she had, of course, done that bizarro
01:50intervention during his fateful CBS news sit down interview.
01:55So there's a lot going on here for people to get into.
01:59She likens herself to Tree, Taylor Swift's like brilliant publicist, which I just don't
02:07get because I don't feel like any of the headlines are particularly flattering.
02:12And when you say she is a cheerleader and well out of college, like this is an adult
02:17cheerleading competition.
02:19And he was there, this storied coach of from the NFL, just like on high, who's now coaching
02:27college and it's not going well, is sitting there like cheering on the cheerleading adults.
02:34I just it hurts my brain.
02:36He was also at her pageant when she was trying to win the Miss Maine title, which we covered.
02:44Which she didn't.
02:45She did not.
02:46Yeah, she she failed again to win that.
02:49Yeah, it's the thing that's interesting is so we had initially reported, right, that
02:55they were seen this all started where they were seen on a sort of a mystery date in in
02:59in Boston.
03:00And then as we got to know Jordan Hudson more, remember, she had actually filed for a bunch
03:07of trademarks where she was trying to trademark certain key Bill Belichick phrases, some of
03:13which were actually owned by the New England Patriots.
03:16And she sort of said that she was taking going to take over his brand and be his kind of branding
03:21guru, although it's a little unclear what is Bill Belichick's brand.
03:25I mean, obviously, he's a very winning football coach.
03:27What qualifies her to be any kind of branding guru?
03:30Right.
03:30Kind of the maybe some might say the ultimate Gen Z move.
03:33But and then, of course, we had exclusively reported details when he I think one fateful
03:40thing in this relationship was when he was supposed to do when he joined the UNC team as
03:47coach a season of Hard Knocks, right, the ESPN show that goes behind the scenes of a team
03:54and follow their season.
03:55And that would have actually been great.
03:57I think that would have been a really great and successful show, even if the season didn't
04:03go well, which it's not.
04:04We had reported exclusively that Jordan Hudson basically sort of scuttled the deal, right?
04:11She got involved saying that she was his, you know, rep and basically was making a lot
04:17of demands to get involved with the show, allegedly.
04:20And then, lo and behold, three days after it was announced or, you know, a few days after
04:25it was announced, ESPN came out and said that the talks had taken a turn they were uncomfortable
04:29with.
04:30So the show was scrapped.
04:32So that was, I think, a key branding there from Jordan Hudson.
04:36But hey, nice work if you can get it and I don't ever have to dress nice to be on a
04:41plane, but perhaps the transportation secretary is on to something.
04:44If you dress nice, you can hook yourself a rich, old, famous football coach.
04:50Yeah.
04:50And you know what?
04:51Go for it.
04:52We have to hand it to them.
04:53They're still going.
04:54They're still going strong.
04:56You know, his football career is going poorly.
04:59Her branding career isn't going great.
05:02I want to move on now to our fourth couple, a split.
05:04I didn't see coming Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.
05:09Am I just out of the loop?
05:10I mean, what went wrong there?
05:12They seem pretty solid for a while.
05:15Yes.
05:16So we exclusively reported in June that the romance was on the rocks and that a source
05:22had said that it's over.
05:25And then a few weeks later, they did announce, you know, they made a mutual announcement that
05:31the relationship was done.
05:32And there were sources who had said that her album, I don't know if you have feelings of
05:37this, that her maligned album and tour had put a lot of stress on her.
05:43I don't have great feelings about it.
05:44It put a lot of stress on their relationship.
05:46Um, but there were some clues, um, that this was always quite a tumultuous romance.
05:55Okay.
05:56Okay.
05:57I, I don't know why I thought that they, she had like found her forever after her very highly
06:03publicized John Mayer and then the Russell Brand nightmare.
06:07And then she went to space and that space trip did not go over.
06:14Well, I think that, I don't know.
06:16I feel like our readers in particular are over the rich people taking the tour of space.
06:22Is that just me?
06:23I mean, yeah, the, the, the, the space trip did not go as planned.
06:27And of course she announced her, uh, set list, I guess, for her tour, for her album or for
06:32a tour while she was in space, which, which backfired and didn't help the relationship.
06:37The, the other thing though, is that in 2017, they had actually split for a year and Katy
06:44Perry had said at the time that they had this, they had been in couples therapy and she, and
06:50she had said that even when they met, because she was getting out of the Russell Brand relationship
06:53and we forget this, but Orlando Bloom apparently had been coming off a temporary vow of celibacy,
07:00I guess, at the time.
07:01So she said that it didn't take off immediately.
07:05They, there, there were some bumps in the road.
07:07They had this tumultuous relationship and yes, you're right.
07:09It seems stable for a long time.
07:11Of course they have a child together, but I guess the, uh, the past came to bite them.
07:16As long as little Daisy's okay, because you'd ever want the kids to get caught up in this.
