04:07When she was a little girl, she started to take horseback riding lessons in the neighborhood.
04:12And I used to say to her, Kendall, when you get a horse, we'll get you a saddle.

04:19My dad was recording it as she would everything when we were kids.
04:23I bought this amazing saddle that she had her eyes on.

10:10I thought it was a Bible that my dad bought OJ and wrote in it.
10:15It's actually my dad's Bible with his name inscribed on it.
10:20I didn't know that.
10:21Obviously, to just like drive up more sales for the auction, I get the game.
10:26But I definitely don't want to be used in that situation.
10:32So we used an alias to bid on the Bible so that my name wouldn't be traced back to it.
10:39So my daddy gave this book to his best friend to give him some motivation from Jesus.
10:46Motivation is when you help to, like, inspire someone to, like, do positive things.

13:22the dynamic that you have with your children, and the many phases of that.
13:27Starting from, did you always dream about being a mother?
13:33Well, yeah.
13:34I think when I was about 16 years old, all I wanted to do was have six kids.
13:39It was rare for someone in their 40s to have children.
13:43It was almost, like, whispered about, like, taboo, like, she's 40.
13:48So when I got pregnant with Kendall, it was old wives' tales and everything.
13:53Under the bed one time, you and your ex-husband were trying, and that was...
13:58I still go to therapy over that.
14:00But you snuck into my bedroom.
14:03I was playing hide-and-go-seek, and nobody found me.
14:06You decided to stay there because it sounded exciting, and you got an earful.
14:10This is like a therapy session.
14:16Are you going to make me go through every childhood trauma, how you're satisfied?
14:20If Courtney was here, then that would probably happen, but I'm good.

14:52Having your six kids, I hear from so many blended families, like, it's so hard to integrate my
15:01first set of kids with the other set of kids.
15:04But even with my dad, I felt like everything...
15:07I don't know, we've always had this really strong family dynamic.
15:10I don't think it was methodical or talked about.
15:12But do you have any tips for people that are trying to blend families or nervous about that?
15:19And you know what?
15:22When people get divorced, I feel like there's always a cooling off period where people have
15:28to find their way and come to terms with what's just happened and maybe the fact that you're
15:33not going to be with this person forever.
15:35But when you have kids with somebody, you are with that person.
15:40You're connected forever.
15:41Of course.
15:41And that's how I've always lived my life.
15:43And I, you know, would share everything with your dad.
15:47And then after we had our cooling off period, is what I like to call it, we became best friends.
15:52And he would come once we moved to Hidden Hills and Kendall was born and then Kylie followed.
15:57He'd come walking in the back door at any time.
15:59What's for dinner?
16:00You know, he'd be there Christmas morning.
16:02He'd be there on your birthdays.
16:04We'd give our parties.
16:06And he just wanted to be a part of every special moment.
16:10I always say I learned how to co-parent because of the examples that I had.
16:15My mom, my dad, my stepdad, they all got along really, really well.
16:20So you and my dad and Bruce were partners in Raising All of Us.
16:27And I think all three of you guys did an incredible job.
16:30And then my dad died in 2003.
16:35Having that person abruptly taken away, how did your role change?
16:42I felt a huge shift and a huge responsibility because I still depended on him.
16:47He was so present in your lives and such a big part of our day-to-day.
16:52He was emotionally available to you guys in such a big way.
16:57And he was emotionally available to me.
16:59He was just the nicest man in the entire world and wanted me to be okay always.
17:06When I got remarried, Bruce didn't have a lot of money.
17:13And one of the nicest, most lovely things that your dad did was, when I was going through
17:17this, your dad used to jokingly harp on me for my Neiman Marcus bill.
17:23I remember one time he goes, do you need anything?
17:25I know, you know, it's crazy over there.
17:28And I said, well, if you want to help me pay my, now I had my own Neiman's card.
17:32And I asked him, would you pay the bill this month?
17:35And he goes, sure.
17:36And he paid my Neiman's card bill that month.
17:38And I'll never forget it.
17:39And we laughed about that.
17:41He goes, if you would have told me years ago that I would still be paying your Neiman
17:45Marcus bill all these years later.
17:47And so we got a good laugh out of that.
17:49But I just think that you just have to decide that you want to kind of hang on to the love
17:57that you once had, but in just a different way.
18:00And that's what we did.
18:01I love hearing any stories about my dad.
18:05I have literally nothing of my father's.
18:09And when I do get something, even if it is a verbal story, I hold on to that with my claws.
