03:15But um, no at this point, I didn't think it was going to be as biased as it turned out to be
03:22And it was a real shame the way that it went throughout the series

04:41But MC hammer I knew and I was very happy to be and I was also very happy just comedically
04:47For greg to set it up the way he did by saying what is what have you brought in that I'd most like to touch
04:52He knew what he was doing there. He knew that
04:54It would mean that the pledge that would pay off and I do appreciate that
04:57So as much as I'm going to bash greg throughout this
05:01And criticize him he is sometimes in your corner
05:05At least when it comes to comedy. I think I remember being in the wings just before going on and being very excited
05:11I mean, I'd watched every single episode. I was a mega fan
05:14Um, I don't remember how much everyone else had watched but then we were all excited to do it
05:20We pretty much all knew each other as well before I don't think because
05:25Because jess has done like so much more like acting and scripted uh comedy than the rest of us. So we
05:31Maybe didn't know jess as well, but got on with jess really quickly
05:36Um, that was like so we all gelled really fast. I knew kerry and phil really well
05:41And obviously rod was like the godfather. So we're all quite excited that that rod was there
05:47Um, but yeah, we were I think we we felt like we had quite a good
05:52A good little gang who were like taking it just seriously enough, but also
05:56You know, not seriously at all at the same time. So like quite a chaotic bunch
06:01And I think before we stepped out there for the first episode we all knew kerry was gonna win
06:08It would have been ridiculous if she didn't

10:53And so I think it's quite funny here that uh, Jeff has a wife
10:57And that I know that I've got that on him

11:54And so they didn't have the celebratory champagne at the end of the day

15:20They're thinking how am I going to approach it

15:26And we're all thinking that in our heads

15:30And my main advice to anyone who's doing it
15:33Always says I'm doing Taskmaster
15:35What's your advice?
15:38It's like just don't make any plans
15:40Because I think everything I planned on the way there I didn't do
15:43And then you end up just like in the moment
15:46Not saying hello to him
15:48And then you go oh yeah I'm going to do that every single time
15:50But you know I think on our series
15:52Philip planned that he was going to do a vendetta against me for the whole thing
15:56And then he forgot about that
15:58And he did it in his first task and then didn't do it again
16:01And then he had to explain that in the studio
16:03And go like yeah the reason I slagged James off there
16:05Was because I was going to do that for the whole thing
16:06And obviously don't do it
16:07Because you're genuinely just forced to be yourself
16:10So ignoring Alex is not
16:13It was not a planned joke and it was not
16:17It was just genuine
16:18I didn't want to say hello to him every time
16:19I just thought it was a waste of time

17:16You know and also I don't know that that's not necessarily going to help me out later on
17:31Sometimes Alex sits there and looks like annoyed that what is happening in front of him is so boring

17:50I grew up in the age of like with like WWF
17:54Of like those you know the D generation X and stuff telling people to suck it
17:58Because I loved it as a kid I loved the fact that they told people to suck it
18:01And that would just be how I felt sometimes when I did a task
18:05I put exactly 50 different different things
18:11I don't know if I argue this in a second but
18:14Every stone's different right that's what I'm going to say

18:20So luckily there I could have been penalized on the stones

18:29Also what I'm noticing it so they ask you what you want to wear in the studio
18:34At the time I had no clothes that I liked whatsoever
18:37And so I decided I went online and I literally selected a bunch of stuff that I would never wear
18:42That I thought would be funny to wear on the show
18:45This top I've got on now I have never worn before or since
18:49I am just wearing it for the show because I think it's funny to wear that
18:54Obviously it's not no one's ever found it funny
18:56I think people have only ever watched it and gone
18:59Oh, that top doesn't really suit him or or whatever
19:02But I've since noticed on the show quite a few times other people doing you know
19:08This kind of stuff not because of me
19:10But because like that's what this situation you end up in when they say do you want to come on
19:15Let us know what what you want to wear in the studio and I've noticed some people and I go they're wearing that
19:21To amuse themselves
19:22Kyle pops into my head especially
19:25James wins the first part of the task and gets five points incredibly
19:33So I got five for that first bit I have no memory of that
19:37Because the reason I've chosen this task is for what happens next so I didn't really yeah this first bit didn't know that I got five points for that

19:45And obviously at this point I

19:49What happens next that's one of the nicest things
19:52I don't know maybe maybe this works against some people but uh
19:58It's nice knowing what you've done in a task and be sitting there going
20:02And I was really excited about this one

20:27So i'm i'm gutted at this point so i've got one ukulele apparently and a load of rocks

20:41This is day one of being in this house

20:45Uh the task where we've got to put all the coins in us in a little pot in a thing of water and not sink i've fucked that

20:59Day one was one disaster and one absolute rip-roaring success when i felt like i was flying on

21:35It's uh, the only eureka moment i have throughout the whole series

21:44The vision there of me snapping it doesn't you wouldn't think that's a clever man
21:47I wasn't often very and I know people will think this isn't true
21:51But I wasn't actually very competitive on the show really I didn't you know, but on this one
21:56I definitely wanted to win it because I knew what i'd done. So I was sitting there hoping
22:01When it would flash to their ones, I hope these are shit
22:04Now we get to see jess and phil's masterpiece
22:07Yeah, being saved till last here
22:09So i'm feeling good i'm sitting there at this point being like good i've been saved till last these two come up brilliant. I've won
22:17I know i've won the task at this point because look at that
22:20I know that's bad. I know jess's is bad and i was very concerned about jess's because i was thinking
22:27She's going to use all those things to paint an actual picture, but she didn't
22:31More to the point there's paint so i could have like used the paint

22:43Not very becoming just use them as the top of my head really happy that

22:53Okay, finally, this is what james a can look at that face pause on that that's a guy who knows he's gonna win and is trying to look

23:08Openly saying to the crew how good a job i've done at this picture. Well, he transformed that into these
23:22What doesn't come across as well is the ukulele strings i've used for his hair
23:28That i think
23:30For me
23:31Was like i was so proud of that because i was like that you don't realize how much greg davis's hair looks
23:36Like the strings of a ukulele the severed strings of a ukulele until you do pluck some strings off of a ukulele
23:42And put them on top of what is meant to be his head and then you're like that's exactly
23:45How his hair you know when like people draw cartoon characters and they just draw single lines for hair like that
23:51No one has that apart from greg actually that is how his hair is what i think is
23:56Uh delightful and incredible is that you have managed to show the fear in alex's face
24:03So i'm so pleased myself there couldn't be more pleased and it was on day one
24:08Which meant that for the rest of the series filming tasks. I was like you've got that
24:13You've got that picture so you're not gonna look completely useless. You've got that
24:18Sometimes when it was a creative one. I would think i think i've won this but he might screw me over with this
24:26I knew that no matter what i'm winning it because sometimes
24:31You know you just put out a bit of art and it's subjective like all art is and other times
24:35You do sergeant pepper
24:45Greatest task ever episode 10 was my favorite episode
24:49Me and the taskmaster. Um, it's just nice to kind of like the pastry

24:54Have a jolly on the last one. It was great walking into this room and seeing this computer game

26:04Just does such an incredible job and

26:10You know the rest of the show. It's just
26:13You're just genuinely excited to see everyone's next one. So like jess had done mario kart was brilliant
26:23For the golden eyes great
26:25Heria got annoyed at tetris
26:31Oh, no, that's not fair. That's not nice

26:38What had done an amazing space invaders one word from tennis balls in people's plums

26:51Just at this point i'm just glad to that I get to show my one and like
26:57And also I had no other
26:59Video game in my head as soon as they said do you want to do one? I was like I want to do grand theft auto
27:05There was nothing else that came into my mind. I think in my head

27:13Of course any excuse to beat up alex
27:41And he's going down that hill by the way that hill is quite steep
27:44It's you know that
27:45Features in a lot of episodes so everyone knows how steep that is
27:48He is gunning it down that hill and if I hadn't stopped him would have got hurt
27:59I mean there's countless opportunities to shout out the amazing team who made this show
28:03But obviously on the day i'm just doing all of this stuff
28:07I don't know
28:09How accurately they're going to do everything and the amount of detail in this like the the weapon select and stuff
28:15And it goes on it goes on a shoe
28:17That wasn't
28:18Me saying you should do this so you know
28:22Most of this task is probably other people doing it and i'm just running around in a shirt

29:10So it was alex telling me
29:13He's lost his duck and i've got to go and find this duck
29:15And it was like get out there and get my duck and all of this it was a whole thing
29:19And obviously there wasn't enough time for that in the edit clearly
29:22So i'm just kind of grabbing a duck and there's no reason for it
29:25No one's ever picked me up on it
29:26It was never a question mark and considering you know
29:29The audience who watch this show are very you know
29:31Detail orientated and they they want explanations for everything
29:35So i'm surprised this has never come back at me
29:37And no one's ever gone why did he pick a duck up
29:39And why is that so important for you?

30:58Um that one would have been the if i was to choose a team task

31:27and uh it's you know it's it's tough now because what what is you know what is now an inspirational figure

31:42It's hard to just slag him off on stuff
31:44But uh, you know, it was a nightmare
31:48Uh, he was an absolute nightmare
31:49We did five tasks in a day
31:52And as as you do them all the team tasks in one day and as it progressed i'd say
31:58His uh, his ability to
32:01Hold attention
32:03Uh on the tasks and um and not just go off and do his own thing got less and less and uh, it was it was impossible
32:10When I saw in the studio certain things he did
32:13Like I wasn't aware on the day that when we were building an extension he'd stumbled across
32:19this cave
32:21Of equipment that we could have used to make a good thing and he just shut it and did his own thing anyway
32:25Didn't know that he did that
32:32Look if I was to do taskmaster again
32:35I wouldn't have it any other way
32:37I'd want to be on it with rod gilbert. I'd want to be on a team with rod gilbert
32:41You need your own personal antagonist
32:44And he was absolutely that and I
32:47I still love him to this day loved him going into the series loved him coming out of it
32:57Walk over and hits that drum in exactly 9.58 seconds
33:04Also, there are two bonus points for the person with the most magnificent walk

33:56So here we go one of the best moments of all time in television

34:03So embarrassing she's
34:06She's really going she's doing so much and she does the fake fall and then there we go
34:14Grace checking if she's all right there. I bet I bet he asked for that to go in the edit when I check that she's okay
34:19And I say to her you're right make sure you put that in so that everyone knows how much of a caring guy I am
34:24Look at us all

34:31We're all sitting there
34:33It's an amazing
34:36I can't really describe it. It's an amazing feeling to be sat there with a blindfold on
34:42and hear that
34:44And no one is saying that she's fallen off the stage, but we're all pretty sure jess has just fallen off the stage
34:51Um, and we don't know how bad it is
34:55To what degree it's happened when we hear the drum get hit at the end
34:58I think we're pretty pleased to the well
35:00She's clearly not completely incapacitated
35:03I didn't see what it looked like until it went out on tv
35:05So I actually didn't know for ages what happened, but I knew jess had fallen off the stage and uh
35:12I loved that. I just got to hear it just sit there listening and that there were
35:16Three other people with me when greg had rushed to help jess. He accidentally cupped her boob
35:21And that was uh, that was a that was made a big deal of by jess and by greg
35:27It was quite uh
35:28Awkward for both of them. It was accidental
35:31And uh, just made an already mortifying situation even worse
35:36Um, but instead he's clearly had a word
35:39With the people who edit this and said take take out
35:43That bit will accidentally feel her up and instead put in the bit where I mime are you all right?
35:48And I look like a really great guy
35:51Greg said greg greg mimes. Are you okay? You're right. What was my response?
35:57She was like, yeah, I fell off and I was oh god
36:00I don't remember what else she said, but I think she definitely said I really milked it as well. I was milking it
36:07I was doing the whole walk. I was like really milking that oh, am I gonna fall?
36:10And then I actually fell and now that's called the nappet that uh, that little runway
36:18The fact that jess has an actual permanent feature of taskmaster named after her. I wish I'd fallen off
36:25I imagine that now whenever they do stuff involving people walking down the nappet
36:29They do put some sort of crash mat down on the floor
36:32There's some health and safety that comes into it. There wasn't any at this point
36:36It that was just the solid floor the ground
36:39The chest fell on and that thing is not that's this tall it's high up
36:44so, uh, you know
