00:21Andree was the captain in the Air Force.
00:25So she wants to get that American dream as well.
00:30They are both alpha types.
00:31And they're hitting head to head.
00:35I started to see a little rage in him.
00:39Andree is not backing down.
00:42Our family is holding on to hope that a missing Texas mom will be found.

00:53It was like sitting and looking at evil.
01:00Andree was so energetic.
01:26She's like a leader.
01:30She has a contagious spirit.
01:33She's courageous, and that's what I admire about her.
01:38Andree is very intelligent, and also he's a loving, charismatic person.
01:44So anyone would fall in love with him.
01:47Anything they do, it's love.
01:51They're on top of the world.
01:54Which she and the husband know, I would call them a power couple.
01:58Andree McDonnell is born September 23, 1989, in Port Antonio, Jamaica.
02:10She was a beautiful little girl growing up.
02:20Andree came 17 years after Cindy.
02:26At first, I was a little bit jealous.
02:29But we love each other dearly.
02:31She always tells me, I'm not a follower, I'm a leader.
02:38Everything she does is fast.
02:40She's an A-plus student.
02:42She's an alpha personality.
02:45Andree always getting high marks in school.
02:51I realized that Andree is really bright.
02:53I was proud because, you see, my country, it's a laid-back place.
03:00So you have to really have ambition to really put your foot forward.
03:06She's a go-getter.
03:08That's what they call him in Jamaica.
03:09She's a go-getter.
03:15May 2009, and Andree meets 30-year-old Andre McDonald at a family event in Jamaica.
03:21She called me one day and said,
03:25Mommy, I meet somebody.
03:29He was the captain in the Air Force.
03:33He was living in America.
03:36So I said, oh, okay.
03:38I said, you like him?
03:41And she said, yes, she like him.
03:45Born February 1979, Andree graduates high school
03:49and studies electronics in Florida
03:52before joining the Air Force in 2004.
04:01Andree is at the cusp of his life.
04:07Andree knows what he wants and go at what he wants as well.
04:12I think this is what Andree likes about him.
04:18They married just two months after meeting in July 2009.
04:23We were surprised, but happy at the same time.
04:30Andree joins Andre in Florida,
04:32where he's a software engineer for the Air Force.
04:35She do the laundry, she keep the house,
04:39and he loves her cooking.
04:43Everybody always heard about the American dream.
04:46So she wants to get that American dream as well.
04:50She was happy, and they were, I would say,
04:53on top of the world.
04:54When Andree transfers to Lackland Air Base in 2010,
05:03the couple moved to San Antonio, Texas.
05:10Andree got a job for a water filtration company,
05:14and she also goes to University of Texas, San Antonio.
05:18And she was studying finance.
05:19Then, the newlyweds welcome a baby daughter into the family.
05:28We were all excited.
05:32She was a very good mom.
05:35Andree had loved her baby so much.
05:40Things was, you know, started to bloom for both of them.
05:45With Andree juggling the baby and her studies,
05:48Maureen joins them in San Antonio.
05:53I would like to take care of the house
05:56and take care of their meals.
06:02And in 2011, Andree graduates magna cum laude
06:05with a bachelor's degree.
06:09Andree loved working, and she just had that drive.
06:13She did not want to sit down and depend on her husband.
06:17She wanted to do something for her self.
06:22And she said to me,
06:23I said, Mommy, I'm going to start a business.
06:29Andree launches her own assisted living company.
06:33The name of the business was Starlight Homes.
06:36She turned the home into a business.
06:40Stop working for people 9 to 5
06:42and be our own boss.
06:48Andree was not on board at first.
06:52So she did it on her own.
06:56Just go ahead.
06:57Whether you want to agree yes or no,
06:59she's going to just go and do it.
07:00She didn't have a problem to get people in our homes.
07:07The business is growing.
07:09Income is coming.
07:11It looks prosperous, you know.
07:16With Andree and Andree's relationship,
07:19they seem great on the outside.
07:22But in the inside,
07:25tensions start to grow.
07:33At one point, Andree had bought a laptop.
07:38She gave him the one that they were using before,
07:41and she take the new one,
07:44and he was upset.
07:45And he smashed the laptop,
07:55rake it up,
07:56and threw it in the garbage.
07:59I was frightened.
08:00I was so shocked,
08:01because I didn't expect him to behave like that.
08:05That's where I start to see
08:07a little rage in him.
08:09I would say Jamaican men
08:13don't like women with so much power.
08:18It's like it makes them feel less of a man.
08:23Well, I think that's what happened to Andree.
08:27And I said to her,
08:28I said,
08:28if you're not happy or you're not comfortable,
08:31you need to leave.
08:33And she said,
08:34Mommy, I'm okay.
08:34I can manage.
08:37She's not giving up.
08:39She's so determined.
08:42It's only death
08:44could stop that girl.
09:01It's 2013,
09:03and Andree's business,
09:04Starlight Homes,
09:05is growing,
09:07creating tension at home.
09:09I found out about the cracks
09:11in the marriage
09:12from my mother,
09:14because she lives in the home.
09:18And she will tell me that,
09:21you know,
09:21they have a fight.
09:24You get mad,
09:25you know,
09:26and want to fight.
09:29Andree's not backing down.
09:31Well,
09:32when those things started to surface
09:37about his personality
09:39and his character,
09:41I am saying that
09:42those are red flags.
09:44At one point,
09:45she was thinking of leaving him.
09:48This moment,
09:49they are okay.
09:49Next moment,
09:50they are not okay.
09:53Her business was moving.
09:55She was doing well.
09:57In 2016,
10:01Andree's promoted to major
10:02and sent away for six months training
10:04in Biloxi, Mississippi.
10:06In his absence,
10:08Andree,
10:10I think she gets to reflect
10:13and absorb
10:14the type of person he is
10:16and try to get
10:18a better understanding
10:19of what the relationship
10:21is about
10:22and where it is going.
10:23When Andree comes back,
10:28the vibes was
10:30bittersweet.
10:34They were celebrating
10:36the promotion that he got
10:38and also,
10:39she discussed with him
10:41that she wants her mother
10:43to have one of the homes.
10:45So when she come up
10:51with certain ideas
10:52that he doesn't agree on,
10:55they fussed about it.
10:57The fists knocking together
10:58all the time
10:59and the new business
11:02that they built,
11:03it contributed to the fights.
11:05So as power increased,
11:09fight increased.
11:10Reconciling for their daughter,
11:19the couple move into
11:19a new luxury home,
11:21just in time
11:22to celebrate Christmas 2017.

21:42We got a call for a welfare check.
22:12Some family members felt something was odd about not having been able to reach Andrea McDonald at that time.
22:21We initially responded.
22:24We made entry to the residence with the assistance of the family members.
22:30In the bedroom, there was what appeared to be a blood smear of some sort on the wall.
22:35Additionally, in the backyard of the residence, there seemed to be evidence that somebody had been burning something.
22:43Certainly, somebody that's looking to get rid of clothing.
22:48You know, you donate them to charity.
22:51You give them to a friend.
22:53You sell them in an estate sale or a garage sale.
22:56So that's certainly not something you would expect to find in the backyard of an affluent neighborhood like this is a burn pile of some sort.
23:02The fact that you're burning them in the backyard, that's another factor that maybe by itself doesn't seem as suspicious.
23:11But you start adding it to all of the other things that are happening.
23:16We've got a very young, beautiful, very successful businesswoman that's missing.
23:22We know that friends feel like something is amiss.
23:28Andreen had said, if you're not able to find me, assume that something happened to me and Andre had something to do with it.
23:36And so really very early on in the investigation, we knew something was amiss.
23:42At this point, what we know is Andre is missing.
23:46We're certainly not ruling out that she may have disappeared of her own free will.
23:50Maybe she was unhappy with her marriage.
23:52She decided to run away.
23:55Well, we're starting to look at evidence.
24:00Soon thereafter, Andre actually came to the scene.
24:04His story was that he had received a call that Andrean was injured.
24:10He said he went to the hospital.
24:11There was somebody there named McDonald.
24:14And he came back to us, told us, she's fine.
24:17She's at the hospital.
24:17He was just assuming we were going to take his word for it and say, oh, well, case closed.
24:24We found very quickly that that story was not adding up.
24:30And then, in fact, we did have a missing person on our hands.
24:32Part of the county, actually, in the city of San Antonio, certainly something that raises even more red flags for us.
24:46Why is it a priority for him to be arming himself at this point?
24:51It could be that he's trying to plan an escape from town.
24:53Maybe he's going to end it all by killing himself.
25:01We made the decision at that point to take him down there outside the store.
25:06We knew we had to get him taken down to the ground quickly.
25:08To get him immobilized to keep him from using any weapons he may have purchased inside the store.
25:20Believing Andre is buying the gun to commit suicide, deputies detain him.
25:26Being that he was an active duty Air Force officer, they were able to help us out with detaining him on base while we continue to conduct our investigation.
25:34Air Force Command placed Andre under observation at San Antonio Military Medical Center for 72 hours.
25:45At Solitude Cove, deputies execute a second search warrant.
25:52We found some things that had not been present the night before.
25:56Some gas cans that ended up having gasoline in them.
26:01Shovel.
26:02Large trash bags.
26:06And then we find a hammer with blood on it.
26:10These are all things that could be used to conceal a body, destroy evidence, destroy a body, whatever it may be.
26:18And then the trash can in the kitchen.
26:21We find the really key piece of evidence.
26:26Receipts showing the purchase of some of these household items together.
26:29And then somebody went through the process of destroying these receipts, shredding it up into little pieces, throwing it into the trash can.
26:38Deputies built a timeline of Andre's movements.
26:44The receipts were from a Lowe's home improvement store several miles away.
26:51And we're able to see the fact that Andre was the one that purchased these items.
27:00We were also able to determine that he went to a bank and withdrew cash.
27:08I believe that he was trying to cover up a digital trail by purchasing those items in cash.
27:13We've got a lot of small bits of evidence, circumstantial evidence, if you will, the burned remnants of clothing, the bloodstain in the bedroom.
27:26At this point, we think that he's already done quite a bit of work to conceal her from discovery.
27:32We couldn't prove up a murder, but we certainly had enough circumstantial evidence to charge him with tampering with physical evidence.
27:41And that's what he was arrested for.
27:46Deputies take custody of Andre and transport him to Bexar County Jail.
27:51We continued to comb the countryside, literally, for any other evidence that we could find.
27:58We're still desperately trying to find Andrean.
28:05Andrean lived in a high-security community with a security gate at the front.
28:12So when somebody like that comes up missing, the community at large start to wonder, was she taken?
28:18Did somebody kidnap her?
28:19Do I and my family have something to worry about?
28:23All family is holding on to hope that a missing Texas mom will be found.
28:29There was fear in all of us that she's dead.
28:36But we all were still having hope.
28:40This weekend, investigators are searching a 28,000-acre military training site.
28:45We have a huge county.
28:48It's about 1,200 square miles.
28:51We have got all kinds of different terrain in our county.
28:54We've got creeks.
28:55And up north, we've actually got the beginnings of what we call the Texas Hill Country.
28:58I have never been part of a search that was quite as big as the one for Andrean.
29:08Hundreds of civilian volunteers came out on foot, on horseback, in little ATVs, with drones.
29:16Something is definitely wrong, though.
29:26Because it's the reality, no facing me, no.
29:29Because Andrean is not going to justice.
29:33Andrean McDonald, you see him there, charged with tampering with evidence in this case.
29:45Several weeks later, we were able to confirm what we already suspected, that the blood found on the hammer, the blood found at the residence, was Andrean's blood.
29:52We had a whole bunch of circumstantial evidence, a lot of little pieces of evidence.
29:57What we were lacking was a body.
29:59The husband of Andrean McDonald could be closer to leaving jail, even though no one knows exactly what happened to his wife.
30:07After a month in jail, Andre is released on bail.
30:10I did not like the fact that somebody that we strongly believe murdered his wife and disposed of the body is now not behind bars.
30:21Whatever was done to it, we felt pretty strongly that it's going to be very difficult to find her body.
30:31Both search crews are reportedly zeroing in on an area in their search for a missing Texas mom.
30:37It was just a freak circumstance that everything came together, and it came about in the weirdest way possible.
30:47Months prior, a cow had died of natural causes in the middle of a field.
30:53We had a rancher that was working on a property.
30:57As he went to the remains of the cow, he found what appeared to be human remains intermingled and under the cow remains.
31:07The body of a woman found partially burned.
31:11And we all thought, okay, this is it.
31:14We found her.
31:23Bexar County deputies respond to a report of human remains.
31:27The bones themselves are about 20 feet behind me.
31:30We want to photo document everything in place before we start the collection process.
31:35Relying upon dental records, our medical examiner was able to positively identify these remains as belonging to Andrean McDonald.
31:43I went out there, like, tape off the road, you know.
31:56The way of my heart was so full, I could even cry.
32:00There was no eyewater.
32:01The burned clothing, the blood on the wall, the gasoline, the torn up receipts, the video evidence.
32:17Crushing injuries to her bones, broken back, broken ribs.
32:22You put all these things together, and you've got a pretty strong case of murder.
32:26And ultimately, that's what he was arrested for.
32:33When I first obtained the case, we were not 100% sure what the motive for this murder was.
32:42And the following is the police's theory.
32:44Law enforcement never found Andrean's phone, but we did have Andrean's phone.
32:48What we learned was that they're together at the tax office.
32:55But they get into an argument.
33:00Andre had learned at the tax office that Andrean had opened up another LLC.
33:06And he's upset that she opened it without his knowledge.
33:11Andre goes to the gas station.
33:13He's sitting in there, having this argument with Andrean via text.
33:22When I saw that there was an argument about money, potentially hours before her disappearance,
33:32to me, there it is.
33:33It is my belief that he made a decision right there.
33:41I'm going to end her alive.
33:46I believe it wasn't long after he sends a text.
33:52It's three letters.
33:53K-M-T.
33:55It's an acronym for Kiss My Teeth,
33:58which we would probably relate that to something like Kiss My Ass.
34:04And at midnight, her phone completely loses signal.
34:09It's my assertion that he's already killed her.
34:17Andre's trial is set for January 2023.
34:21Knowing what took place in that bedroom back February 28th to March 1st, 2019,

34:32The medical examiner determined that it was homicidal violence was the cause of death.

34:45When the sheriff's office came and examined him on March 1st, 2019,

38:43One of the things that Andre took away from us when he hid her body, the way that he did is he took away the certainty about the manner in which she died.
38:56Prosecutors lack evidence to definitively disprove Andre's self-defense testimony.
39:01That ultimately proved to be the reason the jury decided on manslaughter as opposed to murder.
39:08Andre is found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 20 years.
