00:00Christmas Spirit filled St. Francis Xavier Church in Pataling Jaya on Thursday morning
00:12as thousands of Catholics gathered to celebrate Christmas Day Mass.
00:16The Mass, which began at 8.30 a.m., united the Catholic community in a warm and festive atmosphere.
00:24Families, parishioners and children filled the church from the early morning,
00:28many dressed in festive colors as hymns echoed throughout the parish grounds.
00:34The service emphasized hope, compassion and unity, while calling for a more welcoming and inclusive society.
00:41Many attendees said coming together for Christmas and upholding long-held traditions added deeper meaning to the celebration.
00:48It's a very beautiful Christmas. It's actually my first Christmas back home in Malaysia after being away for a very long time.
00:55So I'm looking forward to just spending a very simple Christmas with family and friends.
01:02As Father said, to treasure and to ponder. And that's what I'm going to do.
01:07Yeah, so I think I'm going to treasure and ponder on all the people that I love and the culture and of course all the food that I'm going to eat today.
01:15Right. Yeah. So it's a great day to to share with people you love.
01:20So I've been living in Singapore actually just since May this year.
01:23I moved there for work and we haven't been back since May.
01:26So we got on a flight yesterday and we just came back.
01:30So we're here to see our family. We're here to like see all our friends that we haven't seen in a while.
01:34And it's really nice to just have that community spirit back here again.
01:38We're actually only back for three days. So it's really just go, go, go.
01:42Today it's with my family. Tonight we're seeing my group of friends.
01:46Then tomorrow it's another group of friends for lunch and another group of friends for dinner.
01:49So lots of eating, lots of like just reconnecting with like people that I've known for about 10, 15 years now and just spending time with our loved ones.
01:58We are coming from Sarawak.
01:59Well, it's been a long time since we actually came to see our family.
02:02And we are looking forward to spending the rest of the day with our family.
02:06My Christmas celebration begins with mass to remember the birth of Christ.
02:12And it continues into with a family gathering.
02:16We're going out for breakfast after this mass.
02:18And then tonight a little party with family and friends.
02:22So that is the Christmas celebration for us this year.
02:25And then we always do a family holiday, annual holiday to be together.
02:30And we've been doing this since my mother passed away, to keep the family together.
02:37It's so easy for families to drift apart once our parents go.
02:41So this is a tradition I started many years ago to, so that we are engaged as a family, as the family expands.
