00:00:00Welcome to my secret hiding spot.
00:00:03Boys, good luck finding me here.
00:00:13We're about to play a six-day game of hide-and-seek across the UK.
00:00:16Right now, we're the Seekers, and we're starting in London.
00:00:18Well, I had four hours to get to...
00:00:21Well, I mean, I'm not going to tell you where I am.
00:00:24It's hide-and-seek.
00:00:25I hide, and then you don't...
00:00:27You don't know where I am.
00:00:28You have to figure it out.
00:00:30Welcome to our six-day game of hide-and-seek across the United Kingdom.
00:00:34The goal of this game is simple.
00:00:36Hide for as long as you can without being found.
00:00:39Right now, Ben and I are starting in London as the Seekers,
00:00:41while the first hider, Adam, had four hours to find a hiding spot anywhere else in the UK.
00:00:46In order to find him, we'll have to piece together information about his location
00:00:49using these 62 questions in our question book.
00:00:53Adam has to answer these questions truthfully,
00:00:55but in exchange, he'll get to draw cards from the Hider deck,
00:00:58giving him big advantages like time bonuses or curses that he can use to slow us down.
00:01:03Once we find Adam, positions will rotate, and it will be someone else's turn to hide.
00:01:07After the end of six days, the player with the longest single hiding run wins.
00:01:11We'll go over all the nitty-gritty rules later.
00:01:14For now, Adam's clock is ticking, so Ben and I need to look at our map
00:01:17and figure out what to ask so we can start moving in Adam's direction.
00:01:20What does the UK look like, Ben?
00:01:22Uh, Adam, Adam is somewhere in here.
00:01:25I think he's...
00:01:27here.
00:01:29It is 11 a.m., which means that we should be expecting our first question any minute now.
00:01:34I would say number one thing that I'm worried about
00:01:36is that they figure out too early that I'm on the coast.
00:01:40There are a few different questions they could ask that could tell them that,
00:01:43so I think we just really have to hope that they wait a little bit
00:01:46before they ask anything in that realm.
00:01:50Let's go into town, shall we?
00:01:52We should probably ask a question because we're burning time.
00:01:54Yes, okay.
00:01:55Um, well, there's many questions we can ask.
00:01:57We've got our...
00:01:57Oh, in fact.
00:01:58We've got our little investigation book with all of our questions.
00:02:03So, before we ask our first question,
00:02:05I should explain what kind of questions we can ask.
00:02:07In this game, our questions are broken up into six simple tools.
00:02:10Matching questions allow us to check whether something about our location
00:02:13is the same or different from Adam's.
00:02:16Like, is his region the same as ours?
00:02:18Is his nearest commercial airport the same as ours?
00:02:20Things like that.
00:02:21Measuring questions are similar,
00:02:22but they allow us to check whether something is closer to
00:02:25or further from Adam than it is from us.
00:02:27Like, is he closer to an international border?
00:02:29Is he closer to a coastline?
00:02:30Et cetera.
00:02:31The thermometer allows us to ask whether we're hotter or colder to Adam's location
00:02:35after we've traveled a certain distance.
00:02:36The radar can check whether Adam is or isn't within a certain distance of us.
00:02:40And photo questions allow us to ask Adam for a photo of something,
00:02:43like his train platform or the tallest mountain he can see.
00:02:46Finally, we've got tentacles,
00:02:48a special tool for dealing with denser areas that we can explain later.
00:02:52There's a lot of ways we can approach this,
00:02:54but we've got to figure out a strategy quickly.
00:02:56I don't know exactly what...
00:02:58Because we're kind of starting in a weird place
00:03:00where we're, like, all the way at the bottom of the map.
00:03:02Yeah, but there is plenty west and south of here.
00:03:05I mean, this would be risky, but we could be like,
00:03:07are you in the same country as us?
00:03:09Or is it country? Is England a country?
00:03:12What is the UK?
00:03:13It's a country of countries.
00:03:15Okay, that is confusing.
00:03:17If he is in another country, it's almost certainly Wales.
00:03:20It's almost certainly Wales.
00:03:21Because he had four hours.
00:03:23He could theoretically be in Scotland,
00:03:26but only the tiniest bit.
00:03:28It either tells us immediately that he's almost certainly in Wales,
00:03:32or it knocks out all of Wales,
00:03:34which is still pretty good.
00:03:35That's pretty good, yeah.
00:03:36It's a risky first question.
00:03:38Especially considering that I think we both agree
00:03:40his first instinct would be to go to Wales,
00:03:42because Wales is cool.
00:03:43Wales is cool.
00:03:43And England is?
00:03:45Way less cool than Wales.
00:03:47All right.
00:03:47Look, I like starting with a risky question.
00:03:51Let's ask him if he's in the same country as us.
00:03:53Are you in England, Adam Chase?
00:03:58Oh, folks, we have gotten our first question.
00:04:03They would like to know if I'm in the same country as them.
00:04:06Tell you what, I was really tempted
00:04:09to go to either Wales or Scotland,
00:04:11but I thought that this would be
00:04:13one of the first questions they asked,
00:04:16and so I resisted that urge.
00:04:17I am, in fact, in jolly old England.
00:04:20Okay, we've got our answer.
00:04:21Are you ready?
00:04:22He is in England.
00:04:23He is in England.
00:04:24Oh, I don't want to stay in England longer.
00:04:26Look, we can forget about Scotland,
00:04:28we can forget about Wales, England.
00:04:31Okay, so we probably want something
00:04:32to give us direction soon.
00:04:34Let me take up the map again.
00:04:36We're right about here.
00:04:37I would love to be able to split the map
00:04:39kind of diagonally like this.
00:04:41So you're thinking like a thermometer-style thing?
00:04:44Yeah, I think if we could find
00:04:45the right station to go to,
00:04:48of course, and I don't know
00:04:49if we've explained this yet,
00:04:51but there's currently a tube strike
00:04:52in London, which is epic.
00:04:54We support unions,
00:04:57except for right now
00:04:58when they are screwing us
00:05:00because they're in cahoots
00:05:01with Team Adam.
00:05:02And now we need to draw our cards.
00:05:06Because they asked a matching question,
00:05:08I get to look at the top three cards
00:05:09and then pick my favorite.
00:05:10And...
00:05:11Awesome.
00:05:14Awesome way to start the season.
00:05:24So, really quick,
00:05:25this card that Adam just pulled
00:05:26is a curse.
00:05:27This is a special kind of card
00:05:28that Adam can keep in his hand
00:05:29and play against us
00:05:30whenever he thinks
00:05:31it would be most advantageous.
00:05:33The one he just pulled
00:05:34prevents Ben and I
00:05:35from asking any more questions
00:05:36until we've successfully completed
00:05:38a mini-game of hide-and-seek ourselves.
00:05:40Curses, though,
00:05:41always have a casting cost.
00:05:43This card can only be played
00:05:44when Ben and I are off transit
00:05:45and away from a train station.
00:05:47In this game,
00:05:48choosing the right curses
00:05:49and casting them
00:05:50at the right time
00:05:50can be the key
00:05:52to getting a winning run.
00:05:54Hmm.
00:05:55Curse of the Hide-and-Seek Ception
00:05:57is not a great curse.
00:06:00I think that it is probably
00:06:01ultimately better
00:06:02than a 10-minute bonus.
00:06:05So I am going to keep it.
00:06:07Let's keep going.
00:06:10That's town.
00:06:16All right.
00:06:17For inexplicable reasons,
00:06:18we've walked over here.
00:06:19We've walked over here
00:06:20to give you a little bit of variety.
00:06:22We need to go to a station
00:06:24where if we ask
00:06:26if we're hotter or colder,
00:06:27it splits the map in a diagonal.
00:06:30Peterborough is 50 minutes.
00:06:33Okay.
00:06:33We have eight minutes
00:06:34until that train.
00:06:35Okay, okay.
00:06:36That's the quickest station.
00:06:38You're freaking me out.
00:06:39Okay.
00:06:41Calmly.
00:06:42I don't know.
00:06:43My quick hot take, Ben,
00:06:44is I think it is likelier than not
00:06:47that he is north of here.
00:06:49Yes.
00:06:49Well, because we're...
00:06:50And there's more options.
00:06:53Before we leave,
00:06:54is there a radar we can do
00:06:56that would light?
00:06:57We could do, like,
00:06:58a hundred-mile radar or something.
00:07:00Let's do a hundred-mile radar first.
00:07:01So we do a hundred-mile radar
00:07:03and if it's not a hit,
00:07:04we don't get on this train?
00:07:05If it's a hit,
00:07:06we don't get on this train.
00:07:07Okay.
00:07:07What are you guys doing now?
00:07:08I'd say let's do that.
00:07:10And then go to the platform?
00:07:11Yeah, let's go to the platform.
00:07:13Okay.
00:07:14Let's do it.
00:07:17Is it the train to Edinburgh?
00:07:19It is.
00:07:20Okay.
00:07:20So we've done a 100-mile radar
00:07:23just to see if he is, like,
00:07:24down in this general area
00:07:26because we can do it quickly.
00:07:27If it's a hit,
00:07:28then...
00:07:30We get scared
00:07:31and we bail from this train.
00:07:33We stay here
00:07:34because he's not all the way up there.
00:07:35Okay.
00:07:36We should get an answer
00:07:36any second now.
00:07:37Let's maybe start walking.
00:07:39And, folks,
00:07:40we have got question two.
00:07:43100-mile radar.
00:07:45Unfortunately,
00:07:46I would say that
00:07:47that is a pretty smart question.
00:07:50I am not within 100 miles of them.
00:07:53But knowing that
00:07:54knocks out a ton of area.
00:07:57So I would say
00:07:58that it was
00:08:00a smart question.
00:08:04Okay.
00:08:05Radar questions.
00:08:06I get to look at the top two.
00:08:10Ooh.
00:08:11Okay.
00:08:15Oh.
00:08:16These are both good.
00:08:18I think I have to take the veto.
00:08:21We're committing, Ben, right?
00:08:23Miss, we get all.
00:08:23Miss, we get on.
00:08:25It's a miss.
00:08:26We get on the train.
00:08:27We go north.
00:08:28It's legit time.
00:08:29It's a miss.
00:08:30Okay.
00:08:30We're getting on.
00:08:31All right.
00:08:32He's far away.
00:08:33Let's go north.
00:08:35No?
00:08:35Okay.
00:08:37Oh.
00:08:39I guess we're not getting on.
00:08:40So they do not want us
00:08:42to get on that train.
00:08:43The guy,
00:08:44he screams so loud.
00:08:45He said,
00:08:45wow.
00:08:46Very loud.
00:08:48He's an agent of that.
00:08:49I thought we were going to die.
00:08:51I still like the move
00:08:52of going up to Peterborough
00:08:53with the radar.
00:08:54And we got to wait
00:08:55like 20 minutes.
00:08:57So if we're going to kill
00:08:58this time anyway,
00:08:58we might as well ask questions.
00:09:00Here's a pitch.
00:09:03Coastline.
00:09:03Because the thing
00:09:04about the penzinsula,
00:09:09she's skinny.
00:09:09So if he was closer
00:09:10to the coastline,
00:09:11that would cover
00:09:12basically the whole peninsula.
00:09:13What would it look like
00:09:14if he's further?
00:09:17Because then that would
00:09:18maybe exclude it.
00:09:19If he was further,
00:09:20then it would exclude
00:09:22the whole peninsula.
00:09:23Except for some
00:09:23very tiny areas.
00:09:25If he's closer,
00:09:27then that's less useful,
00:09:28at least right now.
00:09:30But it still cuts off
00:09:31a lot of the train.
00:09:32It's a good question.
00:09:33I'd say let's hit it.
00:09:35All right.
00:09:35Do it?
00:09:36Do it.
00:09:37Something?
00:09:37Yeah.
00:09:38Okay.
00:09:39We got a decision
00:09:40to make here.
00:09:42They've just asked
00:09:43if I'm closer to
00:09:45or further from
00:09:45a coastline than them.
00:09:46Now, here is the thing.
00:09:48I could use my veto
00:09:49on that.
00:09:51But if I do,
00:09:53if I were them,
00:09:54I would then request
00:09:56a photo of the largest
00:09:57body of water I can see.
00:09:58And then they would see
00:10:00that I'm fully on the ocean.
00:10:03If I decide to go ahead
00:10:04and answer this question,
00:10:06they'll know I'm kind of
00:10:07near the coast,
00:10:08but not necessarily
00:10:11that close.
00:10:14I think I answer this.
00:10:16Look,
00:10:16you can get mad at me
00:10:18about not using the veto
00:10:19if you want.
00:10:21Okay?
00:10:23But I really do think,
00:10:26I think that if I veto this,
00:10:27it makes them too suspicious.
00:10:28Then they ask me for a picture
00:10:29of my largest body of water.
00:10:31Now that question's
00:10:32out of the way.
00:10:34And if they ask
00:10:35for a largest body of water,
00:10:37veto.
00:10:39Ooh.
00:10:41Okay, he's closer.
00:10:42That is annoying,
00:10:43although expected.
00:10:44Adam, we're coming for you.
00:10:46What do we do now?
00:10:47Do we still go to Peterborough?
00:10:47I still don't know what to do.
00:10:48We could go to Peterborough.
00:10:50We could go north
00:10:52and ask a thermometer
00:10:53and try and cut off
00:10:54the penzinsula.
00:10:55We've been calling it
00:10:56the penzansula,
00:10:57the penzinsula,
00:10:59which is not a real term.
00:11:00It should be,
00:11:01but it should be.
00:11:02That's our train.
00:11:03Should we get on?
00:11:04Yeah, let's go.
00:11:06All right.
00:11:07Okay.
00:11:08Let's draw our cards.
00:11:12Curse of the Drained Brain.
00:11:14Choose three questions
00:11:15in different categories.
00:11:17The Seekers cannot ask
00:11:18those questions
00:11:18for the rest of your run.
00:11:20Casting cost?
00:11:21Discard your hand.
00:11:23Okay.
00:11:23Okay.
00:11:24Okay.
00:11:30Curse of the Gilded Inquiry.
00:11:32Secretly choose one question.
00:11:34If the Seekers ask that question
00:11:36after this curse is played,
00:11:37the question is automatically vetoed
00:11:39and you instantly draw
00:11:40and keep three extra cards.
00:11:42Casting cost?
00:11:43The Seekers' next question is free.
00:11:44I think I go Gilded Inquiry
00:11:48because with my veto and this,
00:11:50it's like having two vetoes.
00:11:52Curse of the Drained Brain
00:11:53is kind of like having three vetoes,
00:11:56but they all have to be said beforehand
00:11:57and they're known.
00:12:00Okay.
00:12:00I'm going to play Gilded Inquiry
00:12:01right now on the coastline question.
00:12:07Sam.
00:12:09We've got a curse.
00:12:11Oh, God.
00:12:12Curse of the Gilded Inquiry.
00:12:14He knows we're here.
00:12:17He could definitely guess
00:12:19the 50-mile.
00:12:21I don't know.
00:12:22I don't know.
00:12:23I think that, like,
00:12:24I would be pretty shocked
00:12:25if he put it on the 50-mile thermometer,
00:12:28which is the worst thermometer.
00:12:31Yeah.
00:12:32So we ask it anyway?
00:12:33I think, yeah.
00:12:34I think that that's...
00:12:36It's a really good curse, though.
00:12:38Yeah, it is.
00:12:39All right.
00:12:40Boarding the train to Peterborough.
00:12:49Oh?
00:12:51Are they going somewhere?
00:12:52If they are going somewhere, where?
00:12:54There's, like, three completely different regions
00:12:56that I could be in.
00:12:58I mean, I guess it's possible
00:12:59that you're just going to take a guess.
00:13:00It looks like they're going north.
00:13:03They still haven't eliminated
00:13:04that area southwest, though.
00:13:06I guess they'll have to do that later.
00:13:08We will see.
00:13:08So, we're just looking at our thermometer options here.
00:13:18The train is moving.
00:13:19The train is moving.
00:13:21We're on.
00:13:21I just wanted to mention.
00:13:22We're on our way.
00:13:23I guess you can't say we don't have a window,
00:13:25but we're on our way.
00:13:26Here's what we're going to do.
00:13:27Sam, let me tell you.
00:13:28We're going to start a 50-mile thermometer
00:13:30once we're passing through Hatfield.
00:13:32Once we do this thermometer,
00:13:34we'll have a pretty good sense
00:13:36if he's north or if he's south.
00:13:39Ben?
00:13:39Ben?
00:13:41I didn't know that was what I was getting.
00:13:45It was, like, a barbecue chicken cooked this year, I guess.
00:13:47Let's really get in there.
00:13:48I won't.
00:13:49I don't want the camera touching my food.
00:13:51Ooh, it's not touching it.
00:13:52Delicious ice cream.
00:13:56Sounds amazing.
00:13:58This is crazy.
00:14:03It's, like, a totally different texture.
00:14:08It's sort of more like whipped cream.
00:14:13What are they up to?
00:14:17Okay, I'm going to look into you.
00:14:20You find him?
00:14:22Yeah, there he is.
00:14:24All right.
00:14:25We're ending our thermometer here.
00:14:26A little bit before Peterborough.
00:14:29If we do find out that we're on her,
00:14:31then we might want to stay on until late.
00:14:34Yeah.
00:14:38It's a little stressful.
00:14:39I mean, come on.
00:14:43We have to go on the Ferris wheel, right?
00:14:50Okay.
00:14:51They have finished their thermometer.
00:14:52I could veto this,
00:14:58but if I did,
00:15:00they could just do, like,
00:15:01a shorter thermometer while they keep going up.
00:15:03So I don't actually think that that's worth it.
00:15:06I don't like it when they do good guesses.
00:15:11But they're not on a Ferris wheel.
00:15:14So who's really winning right now?
00:15:16Come on, Ella.
00:15:29Come on.
00:15:31That's no sense.
00:15:32Water.
00:15:34Okay.
00:15:35Stay on?
00:15:36I think it makes sense.
00:15:37I think we should stay on until late.
00:15:40I might be here, Murrow.
00:15:41Thanks.
00:15:51All right.
00:15:53It's time to start looking for...
00:15:56Why suffer the slings and arrows
00:15:57of outrageous fortune
00:15:59when Zoltar is here to guide you?
00:16:02Oh, my gosh.
00:16:04Zoltar.
00:16:06Am I going to win?
00:16:07I am Zoltar at your service.
00:16:13Hi, Zoltar.
00:16:14Listen closely to my instructions.
00:16:16Okay.
00:16:17Hard work pays off over time.
00:16:20Okay.
00:16:20The laziness, it pays off right now.
00:16:24Sure.
00:16:25Read my advice.
00:16:26Relax and enjoy yourself today.
00:16:29You deserve it.
00:16:30Okay.
00:16:31I am wise like the owl
00:16:34patiently waiting
00:16:35for the right time
00:16:36to react to any event.
00:16:37To me, this means
00:16:38that I was right
00:16:39to save my veto.
00:16:41I'm wise like the owl
00:16:42and I'm patiently waiting.
00:16:49We're going to clean up.
00:16:52We have prairie on the map now.
00:16:54Who could have anticipated?
00:16:58That's not...
00:16:59No one could have anticipated.
00:17:00This is crazy.
00:17:02Putting the map away.
00:17:03We're going to look at our phones.
00:17:04Okay.
00:17:09I think that...
00:17:11I think we're cooking with gas.
00:17:14I think we're maybe...
00:17:16I mean, the problem is
00:17:18the map gets like a little...
00:17:19It's like a little messy.
00:17:20It's a little...
00:17:21It's a little messier
00:17:22than I would like.
00:17:23You couldn't be in the Norwich area, right?
00:17:25Well, no.
00:17:25Theoretically, you could be.
00:17:27I'm talking about it.
00:17:28Yeah.
00:17:29I just...
00:17:29I don't think...
00:17:30I'm choosing
00:17:31to not think about that right now.
00:17:34Honestly, if he's there,
00:17:35we're done-zo.
00:17:36We're GT.
00:17:37Game's over right now.
00:17:39Yeah.
00:17:40So, honestly,
00:17:41we don't even have to worry about it.
00:17:46They are approaching
00:17:48quicker than I would like.
00:17:50I think we got to start
00:17:51looking for hiding spots.
00:17:53I do not think that hiding down here
00:17:56by the sort of boardwalk
00:18:00is the move.
00:18:02So, I think we need to go
00:18:03up more
00:18:05into the town.
00:18:07And I have awesome news
00:18:08about how we get further into town,
00:18:11which is that we take
00:18:13the tramway.
00:18:15Okay.
00:18:31Okay.
00:18:32Let's take a gander.
00:18:35Great.
00:18:40I mean,
00:18:41I would love
00:18:42to get a photo
00:18:43from him.
00:18:44Could be fun
00:18:44sooner rather than later.
00:18:46Especially because
00:18:46we have the time
00:18:47to analyze it.
00:18:48What kind of photo
00:18:49are you craving, Sam?
00:18:51Five buildings
00:18:51is a classic.
00:18:53Biggest body of water
00:18:54in your zone
00:18:54is interesting
00:18:55because maybe
00:18:57we could see
00:18:59if he's on the coast.
00:18:59Yeah, but usually
00:19:01you just see the water.
00:19:02It's sometimes hard to...
00:19:03Must include
00:19:04either both sides
00:19:05of the body of water
00:19:06or the horizon.
00:19:07I've never felt that.
00:19:08I can't remember
00:19:09any of the things
00:19:09that have been bad.
00:19:10No, it's...
00:19:11Do you want to just ask
00:19:12for five buildings?
00:19:13A photo of five buildings?
00:19:14Might as well.
00:19:14They're so cheap.
00:19:15Let's ask for a photo
00:19:16of five buildings.
00:19:17Well, they have asked
00:19:18for a photo
00:19:19of five buildings.
00:19:22I'm glad
00:19:23that I had left
00:19:25the beach
00:19:26for this
00:19:27because I think
00:19:29that the buildings
00:19:31are going to be
00:19:31a lot more generic
00:19:32in this part of town.
00:19:34I think that what
00:19:34I want to do
00:19:35is find
00:19:36like the most
00:19:39rural-looking buildings
00:19:40because where I am
00:19:42is actually
00:19:43like relatively big
00:19:44compared to the places
00:19:46that it's nearest to.
00:19:48Maybe this...
00:19:49I'm allowed to blur text,
00:19:51but even this
00:19:52clearly communicates
00:19:54that I'm in a place
00:19:56with like a main street
00:19:57and stuff.
00:19:58Now, this feels
00:20:00pretty generic.
00:20:01It's like,
00:20:02where's that?
00:20:03That could be anywhere,
00:20:05especially when you
00:20:06crop it in.
00:20:08Like, I think that's
00:20:10about as good
00:20:10as we're going to do.
00:20:12And let's draw
00:20:14our cards.
00:20:16Well, a card.
00:20:18It's a photo.
00:20:18We only get one card.
00:20:19Okay.
00:20:19Okay.
00:20:19Okay.
00:20:19Okay.
00:20:19Okay.
00:20:20Okay.
00:20:20Okay.
00:20:20Okay.
00:20:20Okay.
00:20:21Okay.
00:20:21Okay.
00:20:21Okay.
00:20:21Okay.
00:20:22Okay.
00:20:22Okay.
00:20:22Okay.
00:20:22Okay.
00:20:23Okay.
00:20:23Okay.
00:20:24Okay.
00:20:24Okay.
00:20:24Okay.
00:20:25Okay.
00:20:26Okay.
00:20:27Okay.
00:20:28Okay.
00:20:28Okay.
00:20:28All right,
00:20:29folks.
00:20:29We've got a photo.
00:20:31Let's see.
00:20:33That looks like
00:20:34England.
00:20:35I mean,
00:20:36those are like row houses.
00:20:39That implies to me
00:20:40not too small.
00:20:41It's pretty cloudy looking.
00:20:44Whereas like here,
00:20:45there's a new sky.
00:20:46But I feel like you're
00:20:46more likely to see
00:20:47the ones like that
00:20:48near a coast.
00:20:49No?
00:20:49True.
00:20:50Okay.
00:20:51I'm back on the beach.
00:20:52I'm back on the beach.
00:20:53I'm back on the beach.
00:20:54Now look,
00:20:55I have to be honest
00:20:56with you about something.
00:21:00There is a castle here.
00:21:02But,
00:21:03but,
00:21:04but,
00:21:05in my defense,
00:21:07there's a castle
00:21:08almost everywhere in England.
00:21:10Okay?
00:21:10I know I always hide
00:21:11near castles,
00:21:12but this,
00:21:13I didn't do it this time.
00:21:14I didn't even realize
00:21:16there was a castle here
00:21:17when I first looked here.
00:21:19I found out later.
00:21:21All right,
00:21:22let's go check it out.
00:21:28All right.
00:21:29We've been waffling
00:21:30for a while.
00:21:31We're almost to Leeds.
00:21:33We want to play
00:21:34a thermometer.
00:21:34We want to split
00:21:35the maps
00:21:37that we know
00:21:38which coast to go to.
00:21:39But it's just,
00:21:40we just can't quite
00:21:41make a thermometer work.
00:21:43But the thing we could do
00:21:44was we could just do
00:21:45the half mile
00:21:45and walk at,
00:21:47like, get to Leeds
00:21:47and just walk.
00:21:49Yeah.
00:21:49A direction
00:21:50and get the exact angle
00:21:52we can.
00:21:52Or even start at
00:21:53a half mile at a station
00:21:54and then just,
00:21:55like, walk a little bit
00:21:55north or south
00:21:56to get the exact angle.
00:21:58So this basically works
00:21:58if we do it
00:21:59at this roundabout here.
00:22:02Okay.
00:22:02Then we can do
00:22:03some minor tweaking on foot.
00:22:05Yeah.
00:22:06What if...
00:22:10What if this is...
00:22:11You love the what if game.
00:22:13My game is,
00:22:14I do whatever I want.
00:22:15Oh, wait.
00:22:16We're different.
00:22:16So we're doing it.
00:22:17We're doing it.
00:22:17Do it.
00:22:25Okay.
00:22:26They started
00:22:26a half mile thermometer.
00:22:28My guess is that
00:22:29they're going to use this
00:22:29to cut the country
00:22:30into east and west.
00:22:32I'm thinking
00:22:32it might be time
00:22:33for a veto.
00:22:35They can
00:22:36do the same thing
00:22:38with a three-mile thermometer.
00:22:40But it'll be annoying.
00:22:43And then they'll have used
00:22:44their three-mile thermometer.
00:22:45So I kind of think
00:22:47this might be our moment.
00:22:49I've been patiently waiting.
00:22:51But I think that now
00:22:52my owl-like wisdom
00:22:55is telling me
00:22:57that this might be our moment.
00:22:58All right.
00:23:07In order to get
00:23:08this thermometer
00:23:09to exactly
00:23:10the beautiful angle
00:23:12that we need,
00:23:13we want to go to the H&M.
00:23:15Okay.
00:23:15It's not a sponsor,
00:23:17but I will say
00:23:18credit to H&M.
00:23:19They've chosen
00:23:19a great spot
00:23:20to end a thermometer.
00:23:21What is Leeds known for?
00:23:27Is this where
00:23:27the Beatles are from?
00:23:29No.
00:23:30Oh.
00:23:30This is like
00:23:31the first we've seen
00:23:32anglers.
00:23:34It's hard to walk
00:23:35and use binoculars
00:23:36at the same time.
00:23:37They don't tell you that.
00:23:39This looks like Britain.
00:23:40You kind of have
00:23:41the tenants
00:23:41of every British main street
00:23:43with like a Gregg's,
00:23:45a Cafe Nero,
00:23:46a restaurant here
00:23:47called Slug and Lettuce.
00:23:48A Tesco.
00:23:49That kind of describes
00:23:50British family.
00:23:51Yeah.
00:23:52Is that the H&M?
00:23:54Sam, I found it.
00:23:56Right?
00:23:56Wait, hold on.
00:23:58No.
00:23:59I'm doing this bit again.
00:24:00Do you want to declare it?
00:24:01Sam, I found the H&M.
00:24:02Okay.
00:24:03Do you want to declare it?
00:24:05Yeah.
00:24:06All right.
00:24:07Well,
00:24:09the thermometer has come.
00:24:13I think it's time to veto.
00:24:17Now, it's possible
00:24:18that they can
00:24:19basically re-ask this.
00:24:21with a three-mile thermometer,
00:24:25but I think that'll be
00:24:27inconvenient for them.
00:24:29And if they do it,
00:24:31then they'll have used up
00:24:32three of their four thermometers.
00:24:34We have an answer.
00:24:35Okay.
00:24:37This son of a bitch
00:24:38has hit us
00:24:38with a veto question.
00:24:40Oh.
00:24:40That is not...
00:24:42On the one hand,
00:24:43on the other hand,
00:24:44we're on to him.
00:24:46Or he just realized
00:24:48this was a good question
00:24:49to veto.
00:24:50Or we're on to him.
00:24:52Let's look at if
00:24:53there's any kind of
00:24:54three-mile thermometer
00:24:55that could get us
00:24:56maybe a similar...
00:24:57Well, that's kind of
00:24:58what we were looking at before.
00:24:59Yeah.
00:24:59I mean,
00:25:00there is a train
00:25:00to crossgate,
00:25:01but I don't think
00:25:03that gets us
00:25:03quite the angle
00:25:04that we want.
00:25:04Maybe let's walk
00:25:05back towards
00:25:06the station.
00:25:08Sam,
00:25:09crossgate still works.
00:25:12Does it, though?
00:25:13So there's like
00:25:14a little bit of a slice.
00:25:15Here, let's cross.
00:25:16Yeah.
00:25:16It's not as perfect,
00:25:18but it's...
00:25:20Well,
00:25:21we can do it
00:25:22relatively efficiently now
00:25:23because there is
00:25:24a quick transfer back.
00:25:27So maybe it's worth it.
00:25:28This geography
00:25:29is a little awkward,
00:25:30but I think it's as good
00:25:30as we're going to do right now.
00:25:31So let's get on this train
00:25:32to crossgates
00:25:33and let's start
00:25:36our three-mile thermometer now.
00:25:38We're really burning
00:25:39through these.
00:25:50It's pretty cool here.
00:26:01Yeah, it is really
00:26:03beautiful up here.
00:26:07Okay.
00:26:08Well, as predicted,
00:26:09they're doing
00:26:10the three-mile thermometer.
00:26:12But
00:26:13that definitely
00:26:16is going to have
00:26:17taken them a bit.
00:26:18I think that it will
00:26:19have slowed them down
00:26:20enough that it was
00:26:21worth it to do it,
00:26:22especially because
00:26:22they don't have
00:26:23good thermometers left.
00:26:25They only have one left now.
00:26:27So
00:26:28I still say worth it.
00:26:33Man, I really
00:26:34so worth it.
00:26:35I wish he had not
00:26:36vetoed that half-mile.
00:26:37That is...
00:26:39Yep.
00:26:41It hurts.
00:26:42All right.
00:26:44Okay.
00:26:44Sam, we made it
00:26:45to crossgates.
00:26:46We just got to get
00:26:46a little bit north.
00:26:47Yeah, that train was late,
00:26:48so we only have 10 minutes.
00:26:49And this thermometer.
00:26:50All right.
00:26:51So I think we should
00:26:51follow this road up a bit.
00:26:53Whatever takes us north.
00:26:54Yeah.
00:26:56Okay, we end it here?
00:26:58Let's end it here.
00:26:59The geography's
00:26:59a little weird,
00:27:00but we'll probably
00:27:02get rid of the sliver
00:27:02somehow.
00:27:03Somehow.
00:27:05Okay.
00:27:06Committing?
00:27:06Committing.
00:27:07Let's get on that train back.
00:27:09Okay.
00:27:10If that does it
00:27:11for us, Ben,
00:27:12that'll...
00:27:12It's not going to be...
00:27:13He's not in the sliver.
00:27:14That'll be
00:27:15the blunder.
00:27:17His ass is not
00:27:18in the sliver.
00:27:19The blunder
00:27:19of all time.
00:27:27Come on.
00:27:31What direction
00:27:32are you going?
00:27:35Well, damn.
00:27:36I don't think
00:27:41that's wrong
00:27:42sometimes.
00:27:52Let's draw
00:27:55our stupid cards.
00:27:59Curse of the prosperous home.
00:28:01Expand the radius
00:28:02of your hiding zone
00:28:02by 50%.
00:28:04Ooh.
00:28:15More time bonus
00:28:16can use.
00:28:18Well,
00:28:19I've locked the castle.
00:28:22Let's go back
00:28:23into town.
00:28:24All right, Sam,
00:28:24we got an answer.
00:28:25You ready?
00:28:26Are you emotionally
00:28:26prepared to receive
00:28:27this information?
00:28:29Hotter.
00:28:30East coast.
00:28:31The east coast.
00:28:32Which means
00:28:32that the sliver
00:28:33is not a problem.
00:28:34The problem
00:28:34is that this is still
00:28:36kind of a weird
00:28:38slice of map remaining.
00:28:40Yeah,
00:28:41and a lot of the lines
00:28:42to the coast
00:28:42are like
00:28:43pretty big commitments.
00:28:45We can ask
00:28:46if he's in our same region
00:28:47and because our region
00:28:48contains
00:28:49most of the whole stuff.
00:28:52Is this our train?
00:28:53Yeah.
00:28:56I don't want
00:28:57to go to the coast yet.
00:28:58We need to figure out
00:29:00like which section
00:29:01of coast he's on
00:29:02before we actually
00:29:03go there.
00:29:04I don't know
00:29:05that we're going to
00:29:05have a more useful time
00:29:06for the region
00:29:06question than now.
00:29:07No.
00:29:08And it's also like
00:29:09if it's a hit,
00:29:10huge.
00:29:11Huge.
00:29:12Oh my God,
00:29:12you know what's
00:29:13in our map?
00:29:14Saltburn.
00:29:15You ever watch Saltburn?
00:29:16It seemed too freaky.
00:29:18Maybe he's getting
00:29:19freaky over somewhere.
00:29:20I know
00:29:21and I gotta go
00:29:22freezing with this stuff.
00:29:24One fish and chips
00:29:25and one chips and cheese,
00:29:26yeah?
00:29:26Yes, my kid.
00:29:27Where is?
00:29:2813,
00:29:29you'll be like
00:29:29the fish.
00:29:31Yeah, dude.
00:29:32Is this right?
00:29:33Is this the right?
00:29:35Everyone knows.
00:29:37Certainly not me.
00:29:39I like,
00:29:40I like region.
00:29:41I like region
00:29:42and if it's a no,
00:29:43we start going north
00:29:45and we use
00:29:46our 10-mile thermometer
00:29:47to exclude
00:29:49everything south.
00:29:50I'm not convinced
00:29:51that's worth it,
00:29:53but I like region
00:29:54first at least.
00:29:55All right,
00:29:56let's see region.
00:29:57What?
00:29:57It's an old thing.
00:29:59Can you find me up?
00:30:00All right,
00:30:00we're asking
00:30:01same region.
00:30:02Currently,
00:30:03we are in
00:30:04Yorkshire and the Humber.
00:30:06Adam,
00:30:06are you in Yorkshire
00:30:07and the Humber?
00:30:09Only time to tell.
00:30:17Well,
00:30:29I would say
00:30:32that that's not great
00:30:33because I am
00:30:35in the same region
00:30:36as them.
00:30:42Got an answer.
00:30:43What is it?
00:30:44Bingo.
00:30:47It's a hit?
00:30:48It's a hit.
00:30:50It's a hit.
00:30:51It's a hit.
00:30:51It's a hit.
00:30:52Spotted ya.
00:30:53Spotted ya.
00:30:53Okay,
00:30:54this is good.
00:30:54This is good.
00:30:55We're making good time here.
00:30:56Adam,
00:30:56wait,
00:30:57no,
00:30:57no,
00:30:57no.
00:30:57First,
00:30:58cut to Adam spiraling.
00:30:59I want to see Adam spiraling.
00:31:00Adam,
00:31:01I see you spiraling.
00:31:07Well,
00:31:08shoot.
00:31:13So,
00:31:13we know we want to go,
00:31:16well,
00:31:16we still don't know
00:31:17where we want to go,
00:31:17but we've got a small map.
00:31:19We've got a,
00:31:19we're,
00:31:20it's just this region
00:31:22and we've already cut off
00:31:23like a huge chunk
00:31:24of it anyway.
00:31:25We need a genius question,
00:31:27Ben.
00:31:27So,
00:31:28it's like,
00:31:28he's either around this
00:31:29like Middlesbrough,
00:31:31Middlesbrough area
00:31:34or
00:31:35Hull.
00:31:36And we kind of need to know
00:31:37because
00:31:38once we go down the line,
00:31:40we'll just have to back.
00:31:41I don't think we can quite commit
00:31:42to going to one of those two yet.
00:31:45Okay,
00:31:45so,
00:31:46I'm going to let you in
00:31:46on a little secret.
00:31:48Ben and I are potentially
00:31:49about to make
00:31:50a huge mistake.
00:31:51If you didn't just catch that,
00:31:53we seem to think
00:31:53that Middlesbrough
00:31:54and the surrounding lines
00:31:55are in our region
00:31:56and still in play.
00:31:58The thing is,
00:31:58they're not.
00:31:59Even this line
00:32:00that goes down to Whitby,
00:32:01which does enter
00:32:02the remaining map,
00:32:03wouldn't be valid.
00:32:03The trains don't run
00:32:04often enough
00:32:05for any of these stations
00:32:06to be used as hiding zones
00:32:07under our rules.
00:32:08And to raise the stakes here,
00:32:09Middlesbrough is basically
00:32:10completely disconnected
00:32:11from the parts of our map
00:32:12that are in play.
00:32:13That means that
00:32:14if we mistakenly decide
00:32:15to go there,
00:32:16we're liable to lose
00:32:17hours for nothing.
00:32:18Now,
00:32:19back to our
00:32:19strategizing.
00:32:22I bet he's in salt burn
00:32:23or something.
00:32:24I bet his freaky ass
00:32:26is in salt burn.
00:32:27I fear we might have to miss.
00:32:29I think we might,
00:32:30but it's just
00:32:31still a question
00:32:33of what is the best way
00:32:34to move.
00:32:34Is there any way
00:32:36to use a thermometer
00:32:37to cut it
00:32:38through here?
00:32:39You would need to,
00:32:40like...
00:32:42I think we could
00:32:42maybe, like,
00:32:43go down that line
00:32:44or go up that line.
00:32:46Like,
00:32:47if we went up
00:32:47that line from York,
00:32:48we could very easily
00:32:50do that thermometer.
00:32:51It's just risky.
00:32:52Yeah.
00:32:52I mean,
00:32:53I don't hate that
00:32:54because that is,
00:32:56like,
00:32:56clean.
00:32:57So,
00:32:57I mean,
00:32:57we could get on this train
00:32:58all the way to Middlesbrough.
00:33:00If we basically
00:33:02YOLO it towards
00:33:03Middlesbrough,
00:33:03that is the only way
00:33:05we can ask
00:33:06a clean thermometer
00:33:08that cuts the map
00:33:09in two.
00:33:12We just might be
00:33:13going the wrong direction.
00:33:15We're going to waste
00:33:15a lot more time,
00:33:16I think,
00:33:17with messiness
00:33:17because it really
00:33:19seems like we need
00:33:19to get rid of
00:33:20the Middlesbrough cluster.
00:33:22I think that that is
00:33:22the most important thing.
00:33:23And I don't have
00:33:23an idea how to do that
00:33:24except to get on the train.
00:33:25So one more epic move.
00:33:26One more epic move
00:33:27never hurt anybody,
00:33:29right?
00:33:29Let's get to platform 16
00:33:30while we make final thoughts.
00:33:32I guess let's show
00:33:33our cards.
00:33:36Things
00:33:36are not looking
00:33:38awesome.
00:33:42Curse of the Gambler's Feet.
00:33:43For the next hour,
00:33:44Seekers must roll a die
00:33:45before they take
00:33:46any steps
00:33:46in any direction.
00:33:48They may take
00:33:48that many steps
00:33:49before rolling again.
00:33:50Casting cost,
00:33:51roll a die.
00:33:52If it's an even number,
00:33:53this curse has no effect.
00:33:56It's a good one.
00:33:57A classic.
00:33:58A classic.
00:34:02Curse of the 5-Minute King.
00:34:04Remove all 5-Minute Bonuses
00:34:06from the deck
00:34:06for the rest of your run.
00:34:07After doing so,
00:34:08you must reshuffle the deck.
00:34:10Casting cost,
00:34:11discard two 5-Minute Bonus cards.
00:34:19Here's the thing.
00:34:20Gambler's Feet is funny.
00:34:22It doesn't actually
00:34:23do that much
00:34:23to slow them down.
00:34:25Curse of the 5-Minute King,
00:34:26it only makes the deck
00:34:27marginally bigger
00:34:28and I need two 5-Minute Bonuses.
00:34:29I think I take
00:34:30the 10-Minute Bonus
00:34:31and I use it
00:34:33to cast
00:34:34the Curse
00:34:35of the Prosperous Home.
00:34:36Curse of the Prosperous Home
00:34:38requires
00:34:38discarding 20 minutes
00:34:40of time bonus.
00:34:41I'm going to discard them
00:34:42and cast
00:34:44this curse
00:34:45expanding
00:34:47my hiding area.
00:34:50Now we really
00:34:51have to find
00:34:52a good place to hide.
00:34:56We have received
00:34:57an SMS text message, Ben.
00:34:58He has cursed us
00:35:00with the Curse
00:35:01of the Prosperous Home.
00:35:02Watch out.
00:35:02Doesn't do anything
00:35:03to us yet,
00:35:04but it means
00:35:06he's got a big ol'
00:35:07fat ol'
00:35:08hiding zone
00:35:09which is going to
00:35:09make the endgame harder.
00:35:11It just...
00:35:12Let's get to the platform.
00:35:13We can at least
00:35:14waffle for 20 minutes
00:35:15until we get to York
00:35:16without necessarily
00:35:17committing too much.
00:35:18The only situation
00:35:19where this is bad
00:35:20is where we're
00:35:22going the wrong direction,
00:35:23but then after that,
00:35:25like, we'll have
00:35:25a much cleaner meta.
00:35:27I can't think
00:35:28of a better move.
00:35:41Okay, so
00:35:43we're just going to
00:35:44have to start
00:35:44the thermometer
00:35:45like here
00:35:46and end it
00:35:46like here
00:35:47and then we get
00:35:48our perfect
00:35:48beautiful line.
00:35:49It would be really funny
00:35:51if he wasn't sober.
00:35:52It's probably pretty, right?
00:35:54Actually, I'm checking
00:35:55whether we'd be able
00:35:56to see the ocean.
00:35:58Do you want to ask
00:35:59for a photo?
00:36:00Do we have 20...
00:36:01How long is this right?
00:36:02We'd be in York
00:36:03just under 20 minutes.
00:36:06I think it'd be fine
00:36:07because we're going to
00:36:07start it outside of York,
00:36:08but we need to ask now.
00:36:10Let's ask for
00:36:11the biggest body of water.
00:36:12I think we should
00:36:13at least be able to tell
00:36:15if he's not on the ocean.
00:36:17Probably.
00:36:18Should we do it?
00:36:19Do it.
00:36:19Do it now.
00:36:22Ha, ha, ha.
00:36:24Ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:36:26Ha, ha, ha.
00:36:27In fact, ha, ha.
00:36:29They have requested
00:36:30a photo
00:36:31of my biggest body of water.
00:36:34As you may remember,
00:36:36due to the curse
00:36:38of the gilded inquiry,
00:36:39that question
00:36:40is automatically vetoed
00:36:41and I get to draw
00:36:43and keep
00:36:44three cards.
00:36:47Folks,
00:36:48this rules
00:36:50for us.
00:36:52Oh,
00:36:53Sam.
00:36:55Oh, no.
00:36:57Oh.
00:37:01That,
00:37:02that,
00:37:03okay,
00:37:03but hold on.
00:37:05Sam.
00:37:08Look.
00:37:09It is.
00:37:10It's a lot of cards
00:37:11you just got.
00:37:12Yeah,
00:37:12he did just get
00:37:13three cards
00:37:13and our question
00:37:14vetoed.
00:37:15It's interesting
00:37:16that that's the question
00:37:17that he chose.
00:37:19Yeah.
00:37:22I don't think
00:37:22it necessarily
00:37:23implies that he is
00:37:24on the coast.
00:37:24No,
00:37:25but it's just
00:37:26interesting.
00:37:27Now,
00:37:27let's get our cards.
00:37:2815-minute bonus.
00:37:34Great start.
00:37:3710-minute bonus.
00:37:39Fine.
00:37:42And the curse
00:37:43of the soothsayer.
00:37:45Curse of the soothsayer.
00:37:46For the rest of the round,
00:37:47you may choose
00:37:48to predict the next question
00:37:49after each question
00:37:50is asked.
00:37:51If you are right,
00:37:51you earn triple rewards.
00:37:53If you are wrong,
00:37:54you earn no reward.
00:37:55Casting cost?
00:37:56Discard a curse.
00:37:57Pretty good.
00:38:01Pretty good.
00:38:08So,
00:38:09wait,
00:38:09then,
00:38:10um,
00:38:15salt burn
00:38:15actually isn't
00:38:16in that region.
00:38:19Salt burn
00:38:20is an inland region?
00:38:21No.
00:38:22What do you mean?
00:38:23Um,
00:38:23the region
00:38:24ends here.
00:38:25So,
00:38:26none of that
00:38:27that line
00:38:28is in.
00:38:29The only bit
00:38:29that is in
00:38:30is this line.
00:38:33Oh.
00:38:35Middleborough
00:38:35isn't in it?
00:38:36Apparently not.
00:38:37Well,
00:38:38what do you want to do?
00:38:42Uh,
00:38:42it makes me wonder
00:38:44if we'd get off
00:38:45the board.
00:38:45but we could still
00:38:49cut off
00:38:50that line
00:38:51but
00:38:51that line
00:38:52doesn't seem
00:38:53that likely.
00:38:54Mm.
00:38:55Included on frequency.
00:38:56We definitely
00:38:57want to get off.
00:38:57Okay.
00:39:08Okay.
00:39:09Welcome to York.
00:39:10What the f***
00:39:11do we do now?
00:39:12We probably
00:39:13shouldn't have come here.
00:39:14No,
00:39:15somewhat.
00:39:16We kind of thought
00:39:16some lines were in play
00:39:17that are not in play.
00:39:18This is on the way
00:39:19to some stuff.
00:39:20It's fine.
00:39:21But
00:39:22we need to
00:39:23we need to stop
00:39:24narrowly having
00:39:25big f*** ups, Ben.
00:39:27The key is
00:39:29narrowly.
00:39:30The thing I'm worried about
00:39:32is that even though
00:39:33on the map
00:39:34there's a decent number
00:39:35of possibilities left,
00:39:37I don't actually think
00:39:39that I could have
00:39:39gotten to a lot of them.
00:39:41So I'm worried
00:39:43that they might
00:39:47have a good guess
00:39:49about where I am.
00:39:51And maybe that's
00:39:52what they're about to do.
00:39:54They're about to just
00:39:55go for it.
00:39:57We've got him down
00:39:58to like
00:39:59we're doing great.
00:40:01I mean, what?
00:40:02Like a
00:40:02probably like
00:40:04less than a couple
00:40:05dozen stations now.
00:40:06I think it's a
00:40:06yeah,
00:40:07it's a healthy
00:40:08couple dozen.
00:40:09I don't know.
00:40:15I don't know.
00:40:15I don't know.
00:40:16I don't know exactly.
00:40:17I mean,
00:40:17we could just like
00:40:18go to Scarborough.
00:40:19I mean,
00:40:19it's not the craziest idea.
00:40:21I mean,
00:40:22it seems like we have
00:40:22like decent maneuverability
00:40:23around here.
00:40:24Great.
00:40:25I love to maneuver.
00:40:26So it's kind of like
00:40:27I feel like we should
00:40:28probably either be
00:40:29getting on that train
00:40:30to Hull
00:40:31or the train to Scarborough.
00:40:32But what
00:40:32what do we do
00:40:34getting on those trains?
00:40:35I don't know, man.
00:40:38Okay.
00:40:38What do we do?
00:40:39What do we do?
00:40:40Well, look,
00:40:41I feel like
00:40:43we're doing pretty good.
00:40:45We are.
00:40:46I just don't know how to
00:40:46even though we did
00:40:47literally just make
00:40:48a giant mistake.
00:40:49And we did.
00:40:50We almost made a
00:40:51little mistake
00:40:53on the way to
00:40:53making a giant mistake.
00:40:55Yes.
00:40:55We are going to
00:40:55look so stupid.
00:40:57We've gotten
00:40:58everything right.
00:40:58We're going to
00:40:58look like a genius.
00:41:00Okay.
00:41:00So radar
00:41:01not useful
00:41:02because we're
00:41:02equidistant
00:41:03from the two
00:41:03main areas.
00:41:05There's always
00:41:06the question
00:41:07where we go
00:41:08on a line
00:41:08and we're like,
00:41:09are you on this one?
00:41:11But I fear
00:41:12it may be too early.
00:41:14Like,
00:41:14he could be
00:41:15in Grimsby.
00:41:17Let's keep
00:41:17in the back of our minds
00:41:18there is that train
00:41:18to Hull in 12 minutes.
00:41:20I mean,
00:41:20I don't know.
00:41:21Do you want to go to Hull?
00:41:23Once we're there
00:41:24or even once
00:41:25we're on the way there,
00:41:27we could probably
00:41:28ask a much more
00:41:29useful radar.
00:41:31You know how we can
00:41:31exclude Grimsby
00:41:35on County
00:41:37if we're in Hull?
00:41:39That feels pretty good.
00:41:40I kind of like that.
00:41:41We could also,
00:41:42we could basically
00:41:43ask that right
00:41:44after we leave
00:41:45for Hull.
00:41:45I can't think of
00:41:46something very useful
00:41:48we can do here.
00:41:49No.
00:41:49And there's a lot
00:41:49useful we can do
00:41:50in Hull.
00:41:51I think...
00:41:52Let go to Hull.
00:41:53Okay, let's go.
00:41:55I'm getting hangry.
00:41:56I need food.
00:41:57I want to buy food.
00:41:58I have a lot of
00:41:59bars.
00:42:00I have bars, too,
00:42:01but I've had my bars.
00:42:04I'm going to crash
00:42:05out on bars, Ben.
00:42:09Hello.
00:42:10Made it on the train to Hull.
00:42:12I got a little
00:42:12predomagé.
00:42:13Never hurt.
00:42:14Never hurt anybody.
00:42:15I'm so excited for food.
00:42:15I'm so hungry.
00:42:17If the answer is yes,
00:42:18I was just checking,
00:42:19this train,
00:42:20it goes all the way
00:42:21up to Breitlington.
00:42:23Yeah.
00:42:24Meaning this train
00:42:25stops at almost every...
00:42:29Wait.
00:42:29Do we want a station
00:42:31photo?
00:42:32No.
00:42:32Ask for a station
00:42:33photo.
00:42:34Wow.
00:42:36Why not?
00:42:36I think that is a
00:42:37worthwhile card.
00:42:38What are the chances
00:42:39he pulls a banger?
00:42:42Zero.
00:42:43Zero chance he pulls
00:42:44a banger off of this
00:42:45question.
00:42:47Okay, well,
00:42:48I was trying to go
00:42:51to the other end
00:42:52of my zone
00:42:53to check it out,
00:42:53but they want
00:42:55a picture of the
00:42:56train platform.
00:42:57Well, folks,
00:43:01we've made it
00:43:02to the station.
00:43:05It has to be visible
00:43:06from the train platform.
00:43:11This station
00:43:13is under construction.
00:43:15Is there a way
00:43:16that they would be able
00:43:17to figure out
00:43:18what stations
00:43:21are under renovation?
00:43:24Okay, yes.
00:43:25Google will tell me
00:43:27that it is,
00:43:28which means I don't
00:43:29think we should
00:43:29show any of this.
00:43:31Okay.
00:43:33How about that?
00:43:34I don't know
00:43:35how helpful
00:43:35that's going to be.
00:43:36Okay.
00:43:36Okay.
00:43:36Okay.
00:43:36Okay.
00:43:36All right, Sam.
00:43:42Got a photo from Adam.
00:43:49I feel like we would
00:43:50be able to notice that.
00:43:51It's a pretty particular
00:43:52type of brick.
00:43:53Like, I don't think
00:43:54most stations
00:43:54would have that brick.
00:43:57You've got that red sign
00:43:58in the corner.
00:43:59Because, like,
00:44:00a lot of these stations
00:44:01don't even have structures.
00:44:03So it's at least, like,
00:44:05not the most rural.
00:44:07I reckon we're getting
00:44:09pretty close.
00:44:10I reckon Mr. Chase
00:44:13is quaking.
00:44:24Okay.
00:44:25So...
00:44:28They seem to have
00:44:30turned around
00:44:31and are now
00:44:34going the wrong way?
00:44:36Which is good
00:44:39I'm just confused.
00:44:49Where are they going?
00:44:57I think he's probably
00:44:58in this county.
00:44:59Sam, there's a castle.
00:45:01Nice.
00:45:02Nice little look
00:45:02at the castle.
00:45:03Look at it.
00:45:04Look at the castle.
00:45:05Sam.
00:45:10Wait, we're there.
00:45:12Let's ask if he is
00:45:14in this county.
00:45:15Adam, this is your end game.
00:45:17Okay.
00:45:18Well,
00:45:18I understand what
00:45:20they were doing now.
00:45:23They were trying
00:45:24to get to the county
00:45:26of East Riding
00:45:28of Yorkshire
00:45:29to ask if I was there.
00:45:32And folks,
00:45:33I am thrilled
00:45:35to tell you
00:45:36that I am not.
00:45:39This does narrow things
00:45:40down quite a bit.
00:45:41On the other hand,
00:45:43they just wasted
00:45:45a ton of time
00:45:46going and figuring
00:45:48that out.
00:45:49I'm stressed, man.
00:45:58I'm mostly stressed
00:45:59about like a no answer.
00:46:01A no answer.
00:46:02But a no answer
00:46:03does probably eliminate
00:46:05more than
00:46:06half the stations.
00:46:08Yes,
00:46:08but I just don't know
00:46:09what we do next.
00:46:10No, it'll be annoying.
00:46:11Okay.
00:46:13You ready?
00:46:15It's a no.
00:46:15Okay.
00:46:21Fine.
00:46:22What do we do?
00:46:24Panic.
00:46:25No,
00:46:26that's the wrong answer.
00:46:27All right, folks.
00:46:30Let's draw our cards,
00:46:31shall we?
00:46:33One.
00:46:35Fine.
00:46:36Two.
00:46:39Okay, better.
00:46:40Three.
00:46:43Curse of the Jammed Door.
00:46:44For the next three hours,
00:46:45whenever the Seekers
00:46:46want to pass through
00:46:47a doorway into a building,
00:46:48business, train,
00:46:49or other vehicle,
00:46:50they must first
00:46:51roll two dice.
00:46:52If they do not roll
00:46:53a seven or higher,
00:46:54they cannot enter that space.
00:46:56Any given doorway
00:46:56can be reattempted
00:46:57after 15 minutes.
00:46:59Casting cost?
00:47:00Discard a card.
00:47:03Oh, yeah.
00:47:04Oh, big time.
00:47:07All right.
00:47:08Let's use this right now.
00:47:10Let's discard...
00:47:11Let's discard Curse of the Seussayer.
00:47:13I don't want to do that.
00:47:14Oh, folks.
00:47:17Here we go.
00:47:18We got to send something, Ben.
00:47:23Jammed Door.
00:47:24The classic.
00:47:25Oh, man, Ben.
00:47:26Things were going good.
00:47:29So we could have gotten
00:47:30to Scarborough.
00:47:31But you've gotten to any
00:47:31of the stations
00:47:32below Scarborough?
00:47:33Yes.
00:47:34I think that those
00:47:35are, like,
00:47:37pretty attractive.
00:47:39Yeah, but there's
00:47:40only three of them.
00:47:41Yeah.
00:47:41So our fastest way
00:47:42to Scarborough
00:47:43at this point
00:47:45is actually
00:47:45probably staying on us.
00:47:48I mean,
00:47:48it's true that, like,
00:47:49actually getting off
00:47:50of a train
00:47:51is a risk
00:47:52because of the Jam Door.
00:47:54Yeah.
00:47:55So, like,
00:47:55the fact that we're
00:47:56on a train
00:47:56that is moving
00:47:57is worth something.
00:48:00So it's basically
00:48:01if we're right,
00:48:03if we haven't
00:48:03f***ed up,
00:48:04which we probably have,
00:48:06he's either
00:48:06in one of three stations
00:48:08up there
00:48:08or
00:48:09he's in, like,
00:48:11all of this.
00:48:13Wait, Ben,
00:48:14we could radar,
00:48:16right?
00:48:17What's, like,
00:48:17a 25
00:48:18from around here
00:48:19look like?
00:48:19Okay, we have to use it
00:48:23like, ASAP.
00:48:25Okay, we want to use it
00:48:26in, like, seconds
00:48:27from Braille
00:48:29because that way
00:48:30we would just
00:48:32include Grimsby
00:48:33and we would get
00:48:34as much of
00:48:34Doncaster as possible.
00:48:36All right,
00:48:36get it?
00:48:37Yeah, get it.
00:48:38I'll tell you something, folks.
00:48:39Things have turned around
00:48:40a little bit for us here.
00:48:42They had a straight shot
00:48:43from York to me,
00:48:45but instead they backtracked.
00:48:47They went the wrong way.
00:48:48Now they're going to have
00:48:49to make their way
00:48:50back here
00:48:51and deal with
00:48:51the curse of the jammed door.
00:48:53I mean,
00:48:53that one mistake by them,
00:48:56going the wrong way
00:48:56from York,
00:48:58is probably going to get me,
00:48:59like,
00:49:00at least two extra hours.
00:49:04They have asked
00:49:05for a 25-mile radar.
00:49:08Seemingly,
00:49:08they are trying
00:49:09to eliminate
00:49:10all of the area
00:49:11in the Humber.
00:49:13I am not
00:49:14within 25 miles of them.
00:49:18I'm simply not.
00:49:19I'm not.
00:49:20Nothing I can do
00:49:20about that.
00:49:21And so,
00:49:23let me draw two cards
00:49:25and pick one.
00:49:27That's interesting.
00:49:30Curse of the Archaeologist.
00:49:32Send the Seekers
00:49:33a photo of a building
00:49:34or structure
00:49:34whose age you can verify
00:49:35to within a century.
00:49:36The Seekers must find
00:49:37a building or structure,
00:49:38whose age they can also verify,
00:49:40from the same century
00:49:41or earlier
00:49:42before asking another question.
00:49:44Casting Cost,
00:49:44a standard photo
00:49:45of a building
00:49:46or structure.
00:49:47Yeah,
00:49:48Curse of the Archaeologist
00:49:49is interesting,
00:49:50but I just don't think
00:49:51I want to give them
00:49:51that information.
00:49:54I think I'd prefer
00:49:55just a good old
00:49:56time bonus.
00:49:58Look,
00:49:59things are going so good
00:50:00for us right now,
00:50:01I think we need to celebrate.
00:50:03And I happen to know
00:50:04the perfect place
00:50:05to do it.
00:50:06Let's go.
00:50:12So brown.
00:50:14All right.
00:50:15This could be Big Ben.
00:50:17What's it say?
00:50:19Mess.
00:50:20You're giving me
00:50:22YouTube face.
00:50:23You're giving me
00:50:23thumbnail face.
00:50:25If we are right
00:50:26about everything,
00:50:27we have him down
00:50:28to three stations.
00:50:31That doesn't...
00:50:34It kind of seems
00:50:36like too good
00:50:36to be true.
00:50:37I just...
00:50:38I'm scared to continue
00:50:39on this train
00:50:40past here.
00:50:42I mean,
00:50:42it's such a gamble.
00:50:44But based on our info
00:50:45right now,
00:50:45it's the right move.
00:50:47All right, Sam,
00:50:47we're in home.
00:50:49This is the sort of
00:50:50big question.
00:50:51Do we stay
00:50:51on this train
00:50:52because we think
00:50:53that he is up north?
00:50:55Are we confident enough?
00:50:57Should we be
00:50:57banking on us being right
00:50:58or banking on us being wrong?
00:51:01I don't know, Sam.
00:51:04I don't know what to...
00:51:05Stay on the train.
00:51:07You want to stay
00:51:08on the train?
00:51:08Well, I think it would
00:51:10be silly to bank
00:51:11on us being wrong.
00:51:14We should be banking
00:51:15on us being right.
00:51:16We don't have time
00:51:17to redo our work
00:51:18right now before this train
00:51:19pulls out of the station.
00:51:20I'm sweating, though.
00:51:22Sam, I'm sweating
00:51:22like a pig.
00:51:23You do that normally, man.
00:51:24I'm sweating
00:51:25like a roast pig.
00:51:26Scarborough looks lovely.
00:51:28I agree that
00:51:29Vines-wise,
00:51:31I think it's so much
00:51:32more likely
00:51:32that he's up there.
00:51:33Look at all these
00:51:34f***ing row houses.
00:51:35We know he's in the row houses.
00:51:36Look at the row houses.
00:51:37There's row houses.
00:51:38I hear you.
00:51:41He's in Scarborough.
00:51:43He's in Scarborough, man.
00:51:44I certainly think
00:51:45he's around there.
00:51:49I think we got to stand.
00:51:50I just don't see
00:51:51the lottery to say
00:51:52I don't know
00:51:53what we would do.
00:51:54No.
00:51:55No.
00:51:55I think
00:51:56it's simply
00:51:57a Strava map time.
00:52:00If we think
00:52:01we have it down to three
00:52:02Strava map.
00:52:04You can have a Strava map
00:52:06as a treat.
00:52:07Hit it.
00:52:08Bang.
00:52:09Bang.
00:52:09Boom.
00:52:10All right.
00:52:11I think we're ending our day
00:52:12in Ridlington.
00:52:15Brightlington?
00:52:17Ridlington.
00:52:17Ridlington.
00:52:18Ridlington.
00:52:18Ridlington.
00:52:20All right.
00:52:28Well, they are
00:52:29coming hard
00:52:30with the questions now.
00:52:32They would like
00:52:33the map of
00:52:34half a mile of streets
00:52:35at least five turns.
00:52:39Okay.
00:52:40I think that I found
00:52:41an area
00:52:42that is pretty generic.
00:52:44I am hopeful
00:52:45that it will not
00:52:46give them that much.
00:52:46But on the other hand,
00:52:48Sam is historically
00:52:49very good
00:52:50at dealing
00:52:51with Strava maps.
00:52:52Let's get our
00:52:53one card
00:52:54for answering
00:52:54that question.
00:53:01Yay!
00:53:07Ben, I've been
00:53:08searing the image
00:53:09of Scarborough
00:53:10into my retinas.
00:53:12It's got the roadhouses
00:53:13that he sent
00:53:14the photo with
00:53:15of close
00:53:17to the station.
00:53:18Yeah.
00:53:18It has
00:53:19cliffs.
00:53:21It has a castle.
00:53:22Scarborough is
00:53:23definitely my
00:53:23leading theory.
00:53:26Oh, here it is.
00:53:28It's very blocky.
00:53:29Very blocky.
00:53:30Okay.
00:53:31With like
00:53:31perfectly right turns.
00:53:33I mean,
00:53:33they're 100%
00:53:34are like
00:53:36look at the stuff
00:53:38around
00:53:38Kappelman's
00:53:39Fish and Chips.
00:53:41Yeah.
00:53:41I legit think
00:53:43that could
00:53:43in fact be it.
00:53:45Right around here.
00:53:46Okay.
00:53:46Let me try that.
00:53:46Like
00:53:47That looks
00:53:50pretty good to me.
00:53:52That looks
00:53:53pretty good to me.
00:53:54Do I get credit
00:53:55for spotting that
00:53:56immediately?
00:53:58I mean,
00:53:59that looks
00:54:00pretty.
00:54:01I didn't tilt it.
00:54:02So the angle
00:54:02is 100%.
00:54:03The shape,
00:54:05I mean,
00:54:05it's 100%
00:54:06match.
00:54:06Sam,
00:54:10I've got one
00:54:11question for you.
00:54:12Are you going
00:54:12to Scarborough Fair?
00:54:14You know that song?
00:54:15You know that song
00:54:16by Simon Garfunkel?
00:54:18No.
00:54:19Give it a listen
00:54:19tonight.
00:54:21That's
00:54:22what I do know,
00:54:23Ben.
00:54:23I'm going to
00:54:24Scarborough
00:54:24because Mr. Adam Chase,
00:54:27he's in Scarborough.
00:54:30Yes.
00:54:34Yes.
00:54:34Yes.
00:54:36What the hell?
00:54:39Is it closed?
00:54:45Well,
00:54:46this sucks.
00:54:48All right,
00:54:52folks.
00:54:52Well,
00:54:54it would seem
00:54:56that they have
00:54:57turned northward.
00:54:59Yeah,
00:54:59my guess is
00:55:00that the jig
00:55:01is basically
00:55:01up at this point.
00:55:03So,
00:55:04tomorrow morning,
00:55:06we need to lock in
00:55:08on finding
00:55:09a good hiding spot.
00:55:11We've got a lot
00:55:11of area to play with.
00:55:12We expanded
00:55:13our hiding zone.
00:55:14I will see you
00:55:15back here
00:55:15at this exact spot.
00:55:17tomorrow morning.
00:55:28Thanks.
00:55:29All right.
00:55:30Well,
00:55:31welcome to Bridlington,
00:55:33Sam.
00:55:33It's nice.
00:55:34They got flowers
00:55:35and s***.
00:55:35Well,
00:55:36Sam,
00:55:37I think this is
00:55:38where we end
00:55:39our day
00:55:39because tomorrow
00:55:41we think we know
00:55:43where Adam is.
00:55:44We got him.
00:55:45I think we're
00:55:46pretty sure he's
00:55:47in Scarborough.
00:55:48There is a train
00:55:49first thing,
00:55:49which is why
00:55:50we can't leave the station
00:55:51because otherwise
00:55:51we're going to have
00:55:52to roll to get in.
00:55:53The bad news
00:55:53is we are also
00:55:54going to have to roll
00:55:55for that train
00:55:55because we have
00:55:56this cursed
00:55:56prison jam door.
00:55:57You got to roll
00:55:58the dice
00:55:59to see if you can get
00:55:59on the train
00:56:00or if the door jams.
00:56:01I'm so good
00:56:01at rolling dice.
00:56:03And so we might
00:56:04get locked out
00:56:04of the first train
00:56:05to Scarborough.
00:56:06I might also
00:56:07get locked out
00:56:08of the second train
00:56:08to Scarborough.
00:56:09That's the problem
00:56:10for tomorrow.
00:56:10We'll eventually
00:56:11expire and we'll
00:56:12deal with it
00:56:13as it comes up.
00:56:14All right.
00:56:15Goodbye.
00:56:15Good night.
00:56:28Good morning.
00:56:30It is 7 a.m.
00:56:33And I believe
00:56:34that they are
00:56:35coming for my ass.
00:56:37All right.
00:56:38Hello.
00:56:39Good morning.
00:56:40Good morning.
00:56:40It is day two.
00:56:42So we've still
00:56:43got the jam door
00:56:44cursed,
00:56:45which means we have
00:56:45to roll the dice
00:56:46to see if we can
00:56:47get on the train
00:56:47when it arrives.
00:56:48And if we don't
00:56:49roll right,
00:56:50then we're waiting
00:56:52for at least
00:56:53the second train
00:56:53to Scarborough.
00:56:54Yeah, which is
00:56:5540 minutes after
00:56:56the first train.
00:56:58All right.
00:56:58Let's go to the
00:57:00right platform.
00:57:01There's a train
00:57:02from there to here.
00:57:04So the time has come
00:57:06to find our hiding spot.
00:57:09We could go that way
00:57:11towards the step
00:57:14where we started.
00:57:15I would argue
00:57:16that this is a mistake
00:57:17because this cliff area
00:57:19is very distinctive.
00:57:22We have to be within
00:57:2310 feet of a path
00:57:24and there's only
00:57:27there's very limited
00:57:29paths over there.
00:57:30So I actually think
00:57:31they would find me
00:57:31very quickly over there.
00:57:33So I think the actual
00:57:34solution is we need
00:57:35to go to the most
00:57:36boring part of town
00:57:38that is the most
00:57:39generic.
00:57:40So let's get looking.
00:57:43How do you enjoy
00:57:46your overnight
00:57:46in Bridlington?
00:57:49I mean, to be honest
00:57:50with you, Sam,
00:57:50this place is kind of scary.
00:57:52I'm sure Bridlington
00:57:53is a lovely place.
00:57:56I did feel like
00:57:57at many moments
00:57:58there was going to be
00:57:59like a knife-wielding
00:58:02clown around the corner.
00:58:03Exactly.
00:58:04Yeah.
00:58:06Do you have dice to you?
00:58:07This is our train.
00:58:09So if we roll
00:58:10anything less than a 7,
00:58:12the doors are jammed
00:58:13and we cannot board.
00:58:15Come on, Ben.
00:58:16You can do this.
00:58:16Are you ready?
00:58:17You can do this.
00:58:18Get in here.
00:58:2210.
00:58:24It's a 6.
00:58:25Not your fault.
00:58:27Oh, my God.
00:58:28I got close to a 7.
00:58:30Oh, God.
00:58:32Well, 40 more minutes
00:58:33in Bridlington,
00:58:34at least.
00:58:36Okay.
00:58:37Well, their train
00:58:38to me should have left
00:58:40like five minutes ago.
00:58:44And they're still
00:58:46at this station.
00:58:48It says the train left.
00:58:50What are they doing?
00:58:53Curse of the jammed door.
00:58:55Oh, love the curse
00:58:57of the jammed door.
00:59:00All right.
00:59:01Now we're starting
00:59:02to get to generic stuff.
00:59:04Like, what's the difference
00:59:05between this street
00:59:06and then this street
00:59:09and the stuff down there
00:59:11and the stuff over there.
00:59:14So I think we just
00:59:15got to keep walking
00:59:16and see if we can find
00:59:18just a good little corner
00:59:20or something.
00:59:21This is what we want.
00:59:22We want to be
00:59:25in the area
00:59:26where everything looks
00:59:27to the freaking same.
00:59:28The next train
00:59:29will be here soon.
00:59:30The train that we
00:59:31will be getting on
00:59:32will be here soon.
00:59:34Because you've learned
00:59:35how to roll dice
00:59:36better now, right?
00:59:37Yeah.
00:59:38You've been practicing?
00:59:39Look, I rolled a 6
00:59:41last time as a bit.
00:59:42I thought it would be funny.
00:59:43But it was funny, right?
00:59:44It was kind of funny, yeah.
00:59:45Pretty funny.
00:59:46So this time
00:59:47I'm going to roll
00:59:48an 8.
00:59:50I spotted the train.
00:59:55All right, Sam.
00:59:57Okay, doors are here.
00:59:58Come on, Ben.
00:59:59Come on.
01:00:00Oh, 7 or higher.
01:00:02Oh, my God.
01:00:03I'm so nervous.
01:00:04Are you sure
01:00:05you don't want to do it?
01:00:06You do it.
01:00:06Okay, I'm doing it.
01:00:07I'm doing it.
01:00:10Oh.
01:00:11It's an 8.
01:00:12You nailed it, Ben.
01:00:14Let's go get them.
01:00:16They're so open.
01:00:16They're so open
01:00:17and unjammed.
01:00:18I love unjammed doors.
01:00:21Oh, sweet, sweet train.
01:00:29Well, they made it.
01:00:32But hey, we got one.
01:00:33That's pretty good.
01:00:36Okay, now we really
01:00:37got to pick a spot
01:00:38because they're going
01:00:40to be here in like
01:00:4140 minutes.
01:00:48All right.
01:00:49Well, I think
01:00:51if we are right
01:00:51about where he is,
01:00:52he should be getting
01:00:53into position right now.
01:00:57Run away, Adam.
01:00:59All right.
01:01:00See, here's a great example
01:01:01of where we can't hide.
01:01:02Cannot hide anywhere
01:01:03where we can see that
01:01:04because that would be
01:01:06the tallest building
01:01:06we can see
01:01:07and that is super distinctive.
01:01:08So we need to get away
01:01:11from that.
01:01:13This isn't bad.
01:01:16I need to make sure
01:01:17I wouldn't have to send
01:01:17any pictures of these signs.
01:01:20I feel good about this one.
01:01:22It's a little bench
01:01:23for me to sit on.
01:01:24There's like,
01:01:25I'm walking around,
01:01:26there's like a million streets
01:01:27that look like this.
01:01:28The downside is
01:01:32there's not like
01:01:33really a place to hide,
01:01:37but there isn't one
01:01:38on any of the streets
01:01:39that are like this.
01:01:40I guess we'll find out.
01:01:47That mountain is,
01:01:48it's looking hefty.
01:01:50Yeah, and that's
01:01:51just within the zone
01:01:52I checked.
01:01:53There are a couple
01:01:53different wood areas
01:01:55within the zone.
01:01:56That's tricky.
01:01:57However,
01:01:58that's why we're
01:01:59going to slice and dice.
01:02:01So first question,
01:02:02I think as soon
01:02:02as we get there,
01:02:04we're going to do
01:02:04distance to
01:02:06nearest airport.
01:02:08Airport.
01:02:08Because that'll
01:02:09slice the map right there.
01:02:10Should I send it?
01:02:12Yeah.
01:02:13I think we do it
01:02:14before the exit.
01:02:15He heads us with a curse.
01:02:18Oh, yeah.
01:02:20This,
01:02:21that's it for sure.
01:02:23Is definitely it.
01:02:24I think Adam
01:02:25did something sneaky.
01:02:26I think he went
01:02:27behind the scaffolding.
01:02:29Yeah, to make it less,
01:02:30oh, it's secure.
01:02:31Yeah, it's got one of those.
01:02:34Oh, here it is, Ben.
01:02:36I think.
01:02:37Yeah.
01:02:37That's it.
01:02:39We got him.
01:02:40All right.
01:02:40We got him.
01:02:42Well,
01:02:43they are here.
01:02:45And they have asked
01:02:46an interesting question.
01:02:47They've asked
01:02:48whether I'm closer to
01:02:49or further from
01:02:50the nearest airport.
01:02:51Now,
01:02:53this is
01:02:54a very clever question,
01:02:56I believe,
01:02:57because it functionally
01:03:00just splits
01:03:01this area
01:03:02into north-south.
01:03:03It just splits it in half.
01:03:04Okay.
01:03:05Yeah,
01:03:05so I am further
01:03:06from the airport
01:03:07than them,
01:03:08which they will know
01:03:09means I am north of them.
01:03:11Already,
01:03:12they can disregard
01:03:13quite a lot.
01:03:17Let's draw our cards.
01:03:18Let's draw this.
01:03:22Ooh.
01:03:26Mm-hmm.
01:03:29Ooh,
01:03:30tough choice.
01:03:31Oh,
01:03:31oh,
01:03:32oh my gosh.
01:03:33Which one do we go with?
01:03:34All right.
01:03:35Adam says he is
01:03:37further
01:03:38from the airport.
01:03:39Yeah,
01:03:39which would mean
01:03:40he's in the north half
01:03:42of this radius.
01:03:43Okay.
01:03:43Let's go ahead
01:03:44and quickly ask
01:03:45while we don't have a curse,
01:03:47a tracing
01:03:48of his nearest path
01:03:49or street
01:03:50because that'll just
01:03:51give us something
01:03:52to work with.
01:03:54And then we find
01:03:54the center of
01:03:56one half
01:03:57of the remaining half
01:03:58radar
01:03:59cut in half again.
01:04:01This half seems
01:04:02to have a little bit
01:04:02more complexity.
01:04:04Yeah.
01:04:04Which makes me think
01:04:05it's slightly more likely
01:04:06he's in it.
01:04:06Let's go in the middle
01:04:07of there.
01:04:13It's an ambulance.
01:04:14It's probably for Adam
01:04:15because he's crashing out.
01:04:17We do,
01:04:17you know,
01:04:18keep an eye out
01:04:18just in case.
01:04:19True.
01:04:20He's not there.
01:04:23Adam.
01:04:24Well, folks,
01:04:25they've begun
01:04:26their search
01:04:26in the wrong direction.
01:04:28They have gone
01:04:29towards the stuff
01:04:31that is interesting
01:04:31because they think
01:04:33I'm a sucker.
01:04:34They think
01:04:35I'm a damn sucker
01:04:36who can't help himself
01:04:38from being near
01:04:39the interesting stuff.
01:04:40Well, guess what?
01:04:41I did.
01:04:42Now they've asked,
01:04:44yeah,
01:04:44the most obvious one
01:04:46chased my nearest path.
01:04:48Now, luckily,
01:04:49basically every path
01:04:51in this whole area
01:04:52looks the same.
01:04:54Should get us an answer
01:04:55in one minute.
01:04:56Okay.
01:04:56And then we hit him
01:04:57with the immediate.
01:04:58Yeah.
01:04:59So 0.375 mile radius,
01:05:01right?
01:05:02Yep,
01:05:02from here.
01:05:02I'm going to do it
01:05:04faster than he can
01:05:05type curse.
01:05:06Okay, he sent it.
01:05:07I sent back.
01:05:08Oh, okay.
01:05:09It's not a very useful one,
01:05:10at least immediately.
01:05:12Gives us orientation.
01:05:13Orientation can be useful.
01:05:15Gives us orientation.
01:05:17And it looks pretty straight,
01:05:19but it's like,
01:05:20what,
01:05:20is he just on
01:05:21some residential street?
01:05:22Maybe.
01:05:23I don't know.
01:05:24We're going to draw
01:05:25a card.
01:05:29Awesome.
01:05:30I will say also
01:05:32that we are now
01:05:33at our max hand size.
01:05:36So,
01:05:37we are going to use
01:05:39the curse
01:05:39of the hide-and-seek
01:05:41deception.
01:05:42They were very quick,
01:05:44and
01:05:45they did manage
01:05:47to get their next question in
01:05:48before
01:05:49I cast this.
01:05:52But,
01:05:53that's fine.
01:05:57We have been cursed.
01:05:59Cursed.
01:06:00Cursed to the hide-and-seek
01:06:01deception.
01:06:02Do you want to hide
01:06:02or do you want to seek?
01:06:04I'll hide.
01:06:05Really?
01:06:07Okay, you hide.
01:06:08I'm going to close my eyes.
01:06:09You take this.
01:06:12And...
01:06:13Goodbye.
01:06:13Goodbye.
01:06:15So,
01:06:16the strat here is,
01:06:17how can we collude
01:06:18without colluding?
01:06:20I'm just going to go
01:06:21straight down
01:06:22the biggest street.
01:06:23slightly farther.
01:06:29Slightly farther.
01:06:30Okay.
01:06:32This is good enough.
01:06:33All right,
01:06:33let me text him.
01:06:35So,
01:06:36we do have to answer
01:06:37this 0.375 mile radius,
01:06:40which will
01:06:41eliminate
01:06:42probably about
01:06:44half of the remaining map.
01:06:46And it is a miss.
01:06:48Now,
01:06:48what's fun is that
01:06:49I can watch them
01:06:50play hide-and-seek.
01:06:52Seems that Sam
01:06:53has decided to hide
01:06:54and he has gone down
01:06:56towards the beach.
01:07:00What will Ben do?
01:07:02Okay.
01:07:04Well,
01:07:05Sam is hidden.
01:07:06And so,
01:07:07I think that
01:07:08what I would do
01:07:09if I were Sam
01:07:09is I would just go
01:07:10in as straight of a line
01:07:12as possible
01:07:13for 500 feet
01:07:15and then turn a corner.
01:07:17So,
01:07:18I'm going to go...
01:07:20This street
01:07:21goes straight
01:07:23for quite a while here.
01:07:25You, like,
01:07:26could have turned
01:07:26a corner here,
01:07:27but I don't...
01:07:29I don't think
01:07:30that makes any sense.
01:07:31I'm, like,
01:07:31looking down
01:07:33and down.
01:07:36Oh, wait.
01:07:36I think I see him.
01:07:45Yeah,
01:07:46Ben found him.
01:07:47Okay.
01:07:48Well,
01:07:49I guess that maybe
01:07:49bought me five minutes.
01:07:53That was easy.
01:07:55Okay.
01:07:56Nice job.
01:07:56Okay.
01:07:57Our brains are melded.
01:07:58Adam sent
01:07:59something.
01:08:01I'm...
01:08:01Here,
01:08:01I'm going to give a hot take.
01:08:02I did some matching work.
01:08:03I found a match
01:08:04that is, like,
01:08:05a couple blocks that way.
01:08:06I think he's near.
01:08:08Well, is it...
01:08:10Let's see.
01:08:10Is he in our radar?
01:08:11Let's see.
01:08:12Oh, miss.
01:08:14Okay.
01:08:14So, you're wrong.
01:08:15So, we need to walk
01:08:16towards the other quadrant.
01:08:19Wait,
01:08:19do we want to ask
01:08:19something else?
01:08:20Oh, yes.
01:08:21I guess
01:08:21we can ask
01:08:22another question.
01:08:23Photo towards...
01:08:24Photo towards you.
01:08:25Yeah,
01:08:26I think that's
01:08:26just a useful one.
01:08:28Yeah, okay.
01:08:28Okay.
01:08:28Okay.
01:08:28Okay.
01:08:28Okay.
01:08:28Okay.
01:08:30Oh, and before we forget,
01:08:37because we answered
01:08:39that radar,
01:08:40draw two cards.
01:08:4310-minute bonus.
01:08:44They're...
01:08:47Absolutely.
01:08:55Okay.
01:08:56Photo towards me.
01:08:58Another classic question,
01:09:01which is why
01:09:03I am in front of
01:09:06a super generic brick wall.
01:09:09Oh, we got a photo.
01:09:10He's in front of a brick wall
01:09:13that looks exactly like that.
01:09:17Kind of all of these
01:09:19houses are identical.
01:09:23Maybe we just go search
01:09:24through these streets, though.
01:09:25Because, like, this looks...
01:09:26I mean, that's the exact same shade
01:09:28of brick, right?
01:09:30As these?
01:09:31Yeah, I think so.
01:09:32And here's a data point, Ben.
01:09:34The sun is in his face.
01:09:36And specifically,
01:09:37it's to his left.
01:09:40So he's probably pointing
01:09:41that way.
01:09:42Okay.
01:09:43Good, good analysis.
01:09:45That's...
01:09:45I'm basically rainbow.
01:09:46That's crazy.
01:09:47Okay, let me...
01:09:48That's crazy.
01:09:49You just did that.
01:09:50Let's just go.
01:09:51Let's start some streets
01:09:52up first, by the way.
01:09:53Because maybe, you know,
01:09:55maybe the shade
01:09:56of the houses
01:09:56changes or something.
01:09:57Folks, they are approaching.
01:10:06We just have to hope
01:10:07that it takes them a while
01:10:09to get the right street.
01:10:12The question for us now, Ben,
01:10:13is, like...
01:10:15I mean, we can pretty clearly
01:10:16see all the way down.
01:10:17I think on a street like this,
01:10:20I actually don't see a spot
01:10:21that would...
01:10:22No, like a clear spot
01:10:23with that much brick.
01:10:25I don't think this seems right
01:10:26because these houses
01:10:27don't have, like,
01:10:30a clean bit of brick
01:10:31that big, right?
01:10:32At least not
01:10:34on the front of them.
01:10:35Do we want to ask
01:10:36another photo
01:10:36since it's only one card pull?
01:10:39I guess, like...
01:10:40I don't know if any photo
01:10:41would tell us anything.
01:10:42Maybe let's just go
01:10:43a little bit down the street
01:10:44because this is
01:10:45the really long one.
01:10:46Yeah, this doesn't
01:10:47look quite right.
01:10:48I don't think
01:10:49this is going to do anything.
01:10:50but let's
01:10:57make ourself
01:11:00as small as we can be.
01:11:06This is definitely pointless.
01:11:09But we've got to do
01:11:10everything we can.
01:11:11I really feel like
01:11:18it's one of these houses.
01:11:19Also, because in that photo,
01:11:20there's one of those wires.
01:11:21Yeah.
01:11:21Those, like,
01:11:23coaxial cables
01:11:24running down the side.
01:11:25Mm-hmm.
01:11:26A lot of good-looking
01:11:27brick around here.
01:11:29Oh.
01:11:30And there's
01:11:31a good-looking Adam.
01:11:32And a lot of
01:11:33good-looking hider.
01:11:35Hey, guys.
01:11:36What's up?
01:11:36Oh, you guys
01:11:52like my, um,
01:11:53makeshift dead cat
01:11:54that I made
01:11:55for my microphone?
01:11:56Oh, yeah.
01:11:57Look at that.
01:11:58It was
01:11:58crazy windy
01:12:00here the other day
01:12:01and I was like,
01:12:01it's going to ruin
01:12:02all my audio.
01:12:02So I bought a sponge
01:12:04and a song.
01:12:06And superglue
01:12:07at a convenience store.
01:12:09MacGyver.
01:12:10Cat.
01:12:10Benjamin.
01:12:11All right.
01:12:12Here are the cards.
01:12:13Thank you very much.
01:12:15I will see you all
01:12:16in five days.
01:12:20No, not this evening.
01:12:29So we're taking
01:12:30break.
01:12:36Uh, hello.
01:12:40Welcome
01:12:40to
01:12:41my hiding zone.
01:12:43Sam and Adam,
01:12:44good luck.
01:12:49Welcome back
01:12:50to Jet Lag.
01:12:50We're really excited
01:12:51that you're watching

01:12:53your support.
01:12:53You truly make
01:12:54this show possible
01:12:55and that's why
01:12:56we are also doing
01:12:57Segway to Ben.
01:12:58Don't forget to listen
01:12:59to this week's episode
01:13:00of what?
01:13:01Just the phrasing
01:13:02is completely off
01:13:03but it's fine.
01:13:04Keep going,
01:13:04keep going,
01:13:05keep going.
01:13:06The Layover.
01:13:06Don't listen
01:13:07to The Layover.
01:13:08Listen to our
01:13:08post-show podcast
01:13:09and you can listen
01:13:11to it right here
01:13:11on Nebula.
01:13:12And at the end
01:13:12of these,
01:13:13we normally recommend
01:13:13something else
01:13:14to watch on Nebula
01:13:14and I'm recommending
01:13:15Scav because I directed
01:13:17that dang thing.
01:13:18It's about the world's
01:13:19largest annual
01:13:19scavenger hunt.
01:13:20All of us produced it.
01:13:21We flew out there
01:13:22and filmed it
01:13:23and I directed it
01:13:23and it's real fun.
01:13:25Why not check it out?
01:13:26Bye.
01:13:26Thanks for listening.
