‘Valley Of The Swan Maidens’ was originally written and recorded back in 2021. Alongside the time of recording of ‘A Journey Upon Ancient Lands’. It was briefly released under a different name, however was later removed. It was better suited as a Meresburg release and needed working on the sound.
This is the only Meresburg incantation to not feature any guitars. Described as a hybrid of Neoclassical and The Berlin School Of Synth. It is quite different to any of the other Meresburg recordings. Influenced by Tangerine Dream, Jim Kirkwood and Classical composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach. The soundtrack for the Amiga computer game called Shadow Of The Beast also inspired this album.
The themes running throughout all of the songs, revolve around Germanic legends and tales in or around central and northern Europe. ‘Legend Of The Nocturnal Germanic Horde’. Describing the chase of the wild hunt, for where crazed supernatural beings career through the steepest of mountain passes, above the most haunted of forests. Lead either by Herne the Hunter, or Odin looking for their next victim to join the frenzied horde .
‘Darkest Witchcraft Upon The Harz Mountains’. Inspired by Walpurgis night, where witches dance around significant fires. Consorting with the devil for the most heinous of deeds.
The song 'Towards The Northern Lands Of Thule'. Founded upon a mysterious northern land that has been disputed to have never been found.
