U.S. President Donald Trump issued a sharp warning to Colombian President Gustavo Petro after Petro criticized Washington over the seizure of sanctioned Venezuelan oil and said the U.S. Southwest was “stolen land” that should be returned to Latin America.

Responding to the remarks, Trump accused Colombia’s leadership of allowing cocaine production and drug trafficking into the United States, while stressing that he supports the Colombian people but not their current government.

The exchange marks a new escalation in rhetoric between Washington and Bogotá amid rising regional tensions involving Venezuela sanctions, drug enforcement, and U.S. military operations in the Caribbean.
