00:00Our south coast beaches are constantly changing, whether it be from the ocean, the wind, or even from landslides.
00:10This is one of my favourite stretches of coast at Yellow Rock near Batemans Bay on the New South Wales south coast.
00:19And since my last visit, it has changed significantly.
00:22Not only had big winter storms resulted in cliffs pockmarked with holes where boulders once were.
00:41But the big seas have also undercut part of the coastline, causing trees to topple in the water and expose geological wonders.
00:52Of course, weathering such as this is a natural process, and one which has been occurring up and down our coastline for thousands of years,
01:04creating and then destroying some of our best-known landmarks, such as the Twelve Apostles along the Great Ocean Road.
01:13I think there's only seven left now.
01:14Closer to home, we have Australia Rock at Naruma, and Hole in the Wall at Murray's Beach in Butaree National Park.
01:26Actually, make that the former Hole in the Wall, as it collapsed about 50 years ago.
01:34Such is life.
01:35Back here at Yellow Rock, I wonder how long this tree will hang on.
01:40Will it be here on my next visit?
01:46Only time will tell.
01:48Happy holidays!
