00:00Don't panic, but the serifs are gone. The logo is now sans serif.
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're looking at brands in various industries
00:08with logos that look noticeably different than they did a decade ago.
00:12Yeah, I like the new one.
00:13You do?
00:14To me, it looks like a petroleum company.
00:17Burger King.
00:18And Burger King's branding is getting a whopper of a makeover.
00:22The fast food giant changing its logo for the first time in more than two decades.
00:26Those who grew up during the 2000s and 2010s were so used to the Burger King logo with the blue crescent.
00:32After all, it had been around since 1999.
00:35However, before those days, there was a more minimalist logo.
00:39No color blue, straight lettering instead of slightly slanted lettering,
00:43and a bigger solid color bun.
00:44Good afternoon. Welcome to Burger King. May I take your order?
00:51Keep the kitchen.
00:53That was BK's classic retro logo.
00:55And that is what the 2021 redesign was meant to reflect.
00:59The throwback yet new logo was meant to pay tribute to the fast food chain's history,
01:03while also symbolizing the removal of artificial colors and preservatives from its food.
01:08Whether you prefer the simpler logo or the one with the blue,
01:11we can't fault BK for going back to their roots.
01:13Burger King thing is smaller.
01:16It might be like some sort of transition more to like health foods.
01:19I feel like it's trying to be a little bit of like a retro throwback.
01:23Jaguar.
01:23This British luxury automobile company has been around since the 1930s.
01:28Obviously, it carved out a place in the market to a point where its logo became instantly recognizable.
01:33Oh yes, it's good to be bad.
01:38All that history made the brand redesign in 2024 seem quite bold.
01:43With its shift to electric cars only, Jaguar called its brand redesign a, quote,
01:48complete reset and, quote, a powerful celebration of modernism.
01:52Oscar Wilde famously said that the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.
01:57Well, Jaguar has certainly been talked about.
02:00In a new logo, the gold Jaguar letters are spaced out, with three uppercase letters and three lowercase.
02:06The company also introduced a new monogram with the letters J and R.
02:09As for that iconic leaping Jaguar that many have long associated with the brand, it does not look like it used to.
02:15It's the name of the game.
02:17So, let us know what you think.
02:19This is the type 00 Jaguar, and this is what the future is going to look like.
02:25Animal Planet.
02:26This discovery-owned TV channel has been the place to go for animal documentaries for some time now,
02:31with excellent narrations, footage, and teachings about countless species.
02:35And as a part of the education of the tradie rangers, they've got to go through the understanding of reptiles.
02:43And this is Big John.
02:45He's the mascot.
02:46Animal Planet launched in 1996.
02:49Its original logo was mainly green and featured an elephant.
02:59The elephant was dropped in 2008.
03:01Fast forward to 2018, and a new logo was born.
03:05The elephant was back, although in a different shape, color, and direction.
03:09Oh yeah, and it's leaping.
03:11Along with the introduction of the new look, Animal Planet said its new mission, quote,
03:15is squarely centered around keeping the childhood joy and wonder of animals alive by bringing people up close in every way.
03:22So, yeah, the logo may have changed, but it still represents what it always has.
03:26These animals have a very complex and fluid social structure,
03:30all governed by dominance and how each one finds its place in the pecking order.
03:35Baskin-Robbins
03:36The pink and blue color scheme of Baskin-Robbins in a playful font was so familiar for years.
03:42But in 2022, Baskin-Robbins got rid of both of those features of their logo.
03:46Facelift, the ice cream chain has a new logo.
03:49Employee uniforms and other changes that give an update to the brand.
03:53The new logo features a more simplistic font and a pink and brown color scheme.
03:57The VP of Marketing and Culinary at Baskin-Robbins pointed to the original advertising campaigns in the 1950s,
04:03which used that same color scheme.
04:05In fact, we'll custom make just about anything in your choice of 31 flavors of the world's most delicious ice cream.
04:12You see, we make people happy at Baskin-Robbins.
04:15Like every Baskin-Robbins logo over the years, the new one still features the number 31,
04:20representing the number of flavors offered at the shop since its creation in 1953.
04:25But yeah, even so, it definitely looks different.
04:28So do the packaging and the employee uniforms.
04:30That's so cool.
04:32Yeah.
04:35It can be.
04:36This well-known international high-speed train service connects Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK through the channel.
04:45For me, Eurostar is the green way to travel.
04:47It means completely guilt-free.
04:49The original Eurostar logo featured a star and a color scheme of dark blue, yellow, and white.
04:54It remained that way from 1994 to 2011.
04:57The next logo, which stuck around for more than a decade, dropped the star and featured an elongated letter E.
05:03A significant rebranding came in 2023.
05:12A star was reborn, although a different kind of star with a compass vibe.
05:17The new logo also features a different font and a lighter blue and white color scheme.
05:21So in one sense, the new logo draws back to Eurostar's origins.
05:25But in another, it's the start of a new track.
05:28New and improved, but on a slightly smaller scale.
05:31So the seats are slightly smaller, the table's slightly smaller, but at least you save yourself some euros for your European adventure.
05:40X, formerly Twitter.
05:42This one is kind of obvious, is it not?
05:44After Elon Musk acquired Twitter, it became known as X in 2023.
05:49An X on the verge of replacing the iconic Bluebird logo.
05:53Owner Elon Musk tweeting,
05:55Although, let's be real, many people still call it Twitter and say tweet.
06:03Before the change, the word tweet had become a part of everyday language.
06:07The rebranding totally went against that.
06:09Gone was the classic light blue with the bird, and in came a black and white X.
06:13It features this brightly illuminated X.
06:17X is the official new name of Twitter.
06:19You might have noticed it on your smartphone.
06:21There's no longer the bird.
06:23It's an X on the app.
06:24In the process, the branding identity of one of the most successful social media apps ever changed drastically,
06:30becoming much more basic, uninspiring, and less representative of what the app had always meant.
06:35Musk tweeted on Sunday that this X is meant to, quote, embody the imperfections in us all that make us unique.
06:45It may be X now, but you can't cross out that light blue birdie or the word Twitter from our minds.
06:50It's going to be a name that I think a lot of people are going to take a while to kind of absorb, adopt,
06:55and for many, it might always just be that company that was known as Twitter.
06:59PepsiCo and Pepsi.
07:00You're probably more familiar with the Pepsi logo than the logo of the Softdrink's parent company, PepsiCo.
07:06It's your choice.
07:07Yes.
07:08And it's the choice of a new generation.
07:11The red, white, and blue Pepsi logo has a firm place in countless minds.
07:16The choice is up to you.
07:18You're the Pepsi generation.
07:22That color scheme did not change with the 2023 rebranding.
07:25Although, that doesn't take away from the fact that the new logo is very different from the previous one.
07:31The red and blue waves and the white stripe have different shapes and placements,
07:35and Pepsi is fully capitalized to make it appear bolder and more confident.
07:38So maybe they were just like, okay, look, it's a big anniversary coming up.
07:41We got to do something.
07:42It's been 125 years for Pepsi.
07:44But perhaps the even bigger branding change has been for parent company PepsiCo.
07:48It's 2025 refresh features a totally different design, color scheme, font, and even a new tagline.
07:56Food, drinks, smiles.
07:58And I hear people saying this new design is more confident.
08:02Uber.
08:03The company that changed the game of ride sharing once featured a recognizable U symbol.
08:08But in 2016, that symbol changed quite a bit, sort of resembling a backwards C.
08:13The circle is Adam's.
08:16The line that connects to that dark box is your journey.
08:22And in 2018, another change came.
08:25There really was no symbol anymore.
08:27Rather, the Uber logo simply became the word Uber in a black font.
08:31This way is way faster.
08:33Bibi D.
08:34Hey.
08:35It's like this.
08:36While there's nothing flashy or creative about it, the simplicity, combined with the company's success and unparalleled presence in the ride sharing industry, definitely make this logo memorable.
08:46There is something to be said for being easily recognizable.
08:50That is exactly what this logo change accomplished.
08:53It's gonna be a big one.
08:54Funny how you said it was the one.
08:58You know we did it again.
09:00Let's go!
09:01MasterCard
09:01After the company conducted research to see if people would recognize the brand based on two interlocking circles, the proof was in the pudding.
09:09Yes, most people did recognize it.
09:11I'm really thrilled to add a new dimension into our brand transformation, which is the launch of our sonic identity.
09:19In 2019, the name of the brand was dropped from the logo.
09:23Obviously, this showed how far MasterCard had come, being that the interlocking red and yellow circles could now stand alone, and people would still recognize the logo.
09:31The purchased New York company says that 80% of people recognize the MasterCard logo, even when the name isn't present.
09:38For most, they probably had seen it so many times.
09:41Oh yeah, and remember the days when the word MasterCard was located inside the circles, which had interlocking lines at their intersection point?
09:48Throwback vibes for sure.
09:49There are some things money can't buy.
09:52For everything else, there's MasterCard.
09:54Accepted everywhere.

10:11Instagram
10:12The old Instagram logo that many have known from the first day they joined the app was a brown and beige camera,
10:18with a strip of yellow, red, blue, and green in the top left corner, and the letters I-N-S-T.
10:23In 2016, it was completely redesigned.
10:27Instagram was well on its way to go from 50 million users to 100 million users and keep growing.
10:32Nothing was going to stop it.
10:34People loved the service.
10:35The only aspect that remained was the camera.
10:38Even that looked different, though.
10:40The new logo has a vibrant burst of gradient colors.
10:42Purple, pink, red, and orange.
10:44And the camera is white.
10:46Well, first off, Gail, this is a mobile photo-sharing application.
10:49And what that means is it's an application that lets you take a picture with your iPhone or your Android
10:54and then share it online.
10:56Facebook, which used to own IG, experienced a major branding change of its own in 2021,
11:01merging with Meta, whose logo became an infinity loop resembling the letter M.
11:05Starting today, our company is now Meta.
11:09But Facebook's app logo didn't change like Instagram's did, so IG gets the spot on our list.
11:15We are in the making.
11:18Instagram.
11:19Is there a brand you think could use a logo update?
11:22Let us know in the comments.
