00:00Do this for America, Erica.
00:05Ooh, I just got the chills.
00:08Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top Stranger Things moments that made us laugh,
00:14from season one through the first volume of season five.
00:17Spoilers ahead.
00:19Morons, they messed up the drugs.
00:21They messed it up.
00:24Morons.
00:24Morons.
00:25Hey, morons.
00:27Number 20, Santa Murray.
00:30Enough bullets and shells for Hop to start a small war, if he should so choose.
00:35In the beginning of Stranger Things season five, with Hawkins in military lockdown mode,
00:40we learn that Murray is in charge of smuggling supplies for the group in a Bradley's Big Buy truck.
00:45We cannot think of a better man for the job.
00:47In chapter three, The Turnbow Trap, he pulls up with a major haul.
00:51Shotgun shells, per our lovely lady's request.
00:54But Dustin isn't satisfied.
00:57He wanted more.
00:58Sparkplug, that's it?
01:00I'm also giving out free hugs.
01:01Murray takes Dustin's Christmas metaphor and runs with it as only he can.
01:05It wasn't a goddamn Christmas list, Murray.
01:07That's exactly what it was.
01:09After pointing out his difficult job as a smuggler, and yeah, he's got a point,
01:14Murray poetically chews Dustin out with incredible wit.
01:17Count your blessings, hang some mistletoe, pucker up, and kiss my jolly ass!
01:23Smooth, Santa Murray.
01:25Very smooth.
01:26Number 19.
01:27You Don't Mess Around With Jim
01:29Share our feelings.
01:31Just sharing our feelings.
01:33This isn't gonna work.
01:34It's not gonna work.
01:35It's not gonna work.
01:36Yes, it will.
01:37I promise.
01:38Oh, come on.
01:39Let me just kill Mike.
01:41It becomes clear early on in season three that Jim Hopper is fed up with the relationship
01:46between Mike and Eleven, who he's taken in as his daughter.
01:49They violated his three-inch minimum rule, and in his mind, they're spending way too much
01:55time together.
01:56Hopper later vents his frustration to Joyce, who offers some advice.
02:00Although it doesn't quite suit him, and he ends up going his own route.
02:03He's a happy man when he realizes Mike won't be coming over today.
02:25During his celebratory drive, Hopper fittingly listens and dances to the song You Don't Mess
02:29Around With Jim.
02:30Talk about a mood change.
02:32It's especially funny and memorable, because we're not used to seeing him like that.
02:47Number 18.
02:49You Can't Spell America Without Erica
02:51The increased role of Lucas's little sister,
03:02Erica in season three, really starts to take form once Dustin, Robin, and Steve realize
03:07they need someone smaller to fit into the air vents at the mall.
03:10It's a part of their plan to figure out the shady things the Russians are up to.
03:14So, in comes Erica, but not before some convincing.
03:17I still haven't heard, we'll send this for Erica.
03:29No flesh, please.
03:31She's a negotiator, that's for sure.
03:33But also a funny one.
03:35Her patriotic line in response to Dustin suggesting she helped their home country became instantly
03:39iconic.
03:40Don't you love your country?
03:41You can't spell America without Erica.
03:46It's true.
03:47You cannot spell America without Erica.
03:49Dustin's realization of that fact only makes the moment better.
03:52It's as sweet as the scoops ahoy ice cream that Erica loves.
03:56You want my help?
03:57This USS Butterscotch better be the first of many.
04:01And I'm talking free ice cream for life.
04:09Number 17.
04:11Schmack and Risotto
04:12So do Eskimos like still live in igloos?
04:14Or are they like fully blown like living in the suburbs?
04:20Who is this?
04:21With the Byers family and 11 living in California in season 4, we're introduced to a new friend
04:26of Jonathan's, Argyle.
04:28His silliness and stoner energy are on full display at various moments, but we gotta highlight
04:33the dinner at the Byers house involving another comical character in Murray.
04:37This girl got smacked in the head today at the roller rink?
04:40Smacked?
04:41Yeah, it was one of those vicious skate attacks.
04:43Skate attack?
04:44Yeah, but it wasn't like an ice skate.
04:46It was, um, it was a plastic skate.
04:48No, it was like rubber.
04:50Rubber.
04:51Putting these two in the same room was destined to provide comedy.
04:55During this scene, there's tension at the dinner table.
04:58Emotions are high after an incident at the roller rink, but Argyle provides some comedic
05:03relief.
05:04We learn that apparently, Murray makes a mean risotto.
05:07Argyle, in hilarious fashion, calls it schmackin'.
05:10And Murray's response is classic Murray.
05:13This risotto is schmackin', dude.
05:17I still have no idea who he is.
05:19Number 16.
05:21Steve's KFC endorsement.
05:23Free will moon.
05:25Anyway, he's freelance now, and he agreed to take the case.
05:30Oh, that's...
05:30That's great.
05:33That's really...
05:34That's great, right?
05:35At the beginning of season two, we as viewers and Nancy know the dark truth about her friend
05:40Barb.
05:41She's not just missing.
05:42She's dead.
05:43Barb's parents don't know that, though.
05:46It's tough for Nancy, who's still grieving, to relay the truth.
05:49When she and Steve visit Barb's parents' house for dinner, we see that Barb's parents still
05:53have hope that their daughter is alive.
05:55Nancy later excuses herself to go to the bathroom, leaving Steve with the parents.
06:00To break the awkward silence, following a loud bite of crunchy fried chicken, Steve drops
06:05an unforgettable one-liner, making him sound like a spokesman for KFC.
06:13It's a moment that not only makes us laugh, but also makes us hungry.
06:18Number 15.
06:19Dick.
06:20We're gonna need a lot more luck if we want this plan to work.
06:22While trying to devise a plan to rescue the kids being contained by the military,
06:26Robyn blurts something out, much to the surprise of Mike, Will, and Lucas.
06:31We have to dig up into the barracks, unnoticed, grab the kids, get them to Murray, smuggle
06:35them out of Hawkins.
06:36All before anyone notices they're gone.
06:38Dick.
06:39What?
06:40She then discusses the film The Great Escape and how it relates to their situation, explaining
06:45the tunnels named Tom, Dick, and Harry.
06:47Of the three, Robyn says she prefers Dick.
06:50Pause.
06:51So they put Tom in this dark corner, and they put Harry under the stove, and they put Dick
06:55in the washroom, and personally, for us, I like Dick.
07:01The reactions of the boys and Joyce are nothing short of priceless.
07:06And given we viewers know her sexuality, the irony makes the moment even funnier.
07:11But that's not all.
07:12Later, when they all actually go into the tunnels to execute the plan and find the spot
07:16to break through, the Dick joke is taken to another comical level by Mike and Lucas.
07:21Oh, boys.
07:22Hit the dick.
07:23Yep.
07:24Let's just hope it's not too hard.
07:26If it is, I'll soften it.
07:29Number 14.
07:31Steve waking up in the car and realizing Max is driving.
07:34After Billy shows up to the buyer's house and gives babysitter Steve a beating in the season
07:42two finale, Steve is left down for the count.
07:45Steve had previously objected to the younger kids' plan to go to the tunnels.
07:49It's dangerous, but now he can't stop them.
07:52Neither can Billy, because he's sedated.
07:54So they decide to go, even though none of them is old enough to drive.
07:57Hey, buddy.
07:59Shh.
08:00Shh.
08:01It's okay.
08:01You put up with a fight.
08:03You kicked your ass, but you put up with a fight, buddy.
08:04Okay?
08:04You're okay.
08:06Okay.
08:06You're gonna keep straight for a half a mile?
08:08Then make a left on Mel Sina.
08:11Later, Steve wakes up in the backseat of the car.
08:14Now it's the younger kids, particularly Dustin, babying Steve, which offers a hilarious flip
08:19in dynamics.
08:20Whether it's Steve calling Mike Nancy, his petrified realization that Max is driving,
08:25or the screams after a reckless turn, this whole scene is pure comedy.
08:29Hello!
08:30Whoa.
08:31Incredible.
08:32Told you.
08:34Zoomer.
08:34Number 13.
08:36The Chocolate Pudding.
08:38Found it!
08:40I knew she was hoarding it.
08:41I knew it.
08:42There's a lot to love about Stranger Things, and sometimes it's the simpler, non-supernatural
08:47moments we just can't get out of our heads.
08:49Dustin's chocolate pudding line from the season one finale is a classic example of
08:53that.
08:54Look, it's the season finale.
08:56The stakes are high with the need to rescue Will from the Upside Down, the threat of the
08:59Demogorgon, plus Brenner and his crew going after Eleven.
09:02Yet amidst it all, we get to laugh thanks to an iconic line from Dustin, reminding us
09:07he's just a kid.
09:08A kid who likes chocolate pudding.
09:10Mike!
09:11I found a chocolate pudding!
09:13Okay!
09:14After finding a horde of it and hilariously calling the lunch lady a bald-faced liar,
09:19he corrals several cans and shouts to Mike this revelation.
09:23Never change, Dustin!
09:24Always lying, saying she's out.
09:26Bald-faced liar!
09:27Number 12.
09:29Dustin and Lucas inviting Max to go trick-or-treating.
09:31You're new here, so you probably don't have any friends to take you trick-or-treating,
09:36and you're scared of bullies.
09:38So we were thinking that it would be okay if you come with us.
09:42It'd be okay?
09:42Yeah, our party's a democracy, and the majority voted you could come.
09:45I didn't realize it was such an honor to go trick-or-treating with you.
09:48With the new kid Max, aka Mad Max, in town, Dustin and Lucas see an opportunity to welcome
09:54someone new into their party.
09:55What better way to do it than inviting her to go trick-or-treating?
09:58Max's sarcasm is on point.
10:01As for Dustin voicing his desire to get full-sized candy bars?
10:05Very relatable.
10:06We don't want to get the full-sized candy bars.
10:07We figured you'd want in.
10:09That's presumptuous of you.
10:10But things get really funny after Max's use of the word presumptuous.
10:14It's clear from Dustin and Lucas's reactions that they do not know what that means.
10:19To be fair, that's not an easy word for someone that age.
10:22Once Max leaves, Dustin repeats the word and questions whether presumptuous is a good or
10:27bad thing, only for Lucas to ignore him multiple times.
10:31This is great stuff.
10:33Presumptuous.
10:35It's a good thing, right?
10:40Number 11.
10:41The Never-Ending Story Duet
10:42In the season 3 finale, we finally meet Dustin's Utah-based girlfriend, at long last.
11:01And it does not disappoint.
11:03Dustin isn't just getting a hold of Suzy via ham radio only to catch up.
11:07Time is of the essence.
11:09They need to know Plank's constant, which is the code to a safe inside the Russian base
11:14where Joyce, Hopper, and Murray are.
11:16You can make it up to me now.
11:17What?
11:18I want to hear it.
11:20Not right now.
11:21Yes, now, Dusty Bun.
11:23Dustin's confident that Suzy knows it, but she won't tell him.
11:27Not until he sings the Never-Ending Story theme song with her.
11:30The reactions of the others are absolutely hilarious.
11:34Talk about an unexpected moment given the gravity of the situation.
11:37Turn around, look at what you see in her face.
11:48The mirror of your dream.
11:52It's only funnier when considering the fact that some of them had been doubting Suzy's existence.
11:57And this is how they're introduced to her.
11:59The answer to a never-ending story.
12:10Number 10.
12:11Pie with the Turnbows.
12:13Listen, I know you probably hate me right now,
12:16but I thought you might want your favorite pie.
12:21And also, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry.
12:24This kid Derek Turnbow introduced in Season 5 is downright hysterical,
12:28but he's in trouble because he's next on Vecna's list.
12:31To save Derek and track down Holly,
12:33the squad first needs to get the Turnbows out of the house.
12:36It is Erica's time to shine.
12:38She goes to their house and makes amends with Derek's sister, Tina,
12:41offering some pie.
12:42We know that's no ordinary pie, though.
12:44Your pie's got a little something extra tonight.
12:48A little hen of...
12:50Nutmeg.
12:51Nutmeg!
12:52Of course.
12:53Brilliant.
12:54Brilliant.
12:55Brilliant.
12:56As all the Turnbows except Tina dig in,
12:58Derek makes multiple funny comments.
13:01Once that secret ingredient kicks in and his dad collapses,
13:04Derek bursts out laughing.
13:05And so do we.
13:06He laughs again when his mom goes down.
13:11Then, it's his turn.
13:15Finally, to cap off this amazing scene,
13:17Erica does things the hard way with Tina.
13:20Number 9.
13:21Dustin being brutally honest with Mr. Wheeler.
13:24Your line has been busy for over two hours, Mr. Wheeler.
13:29Do you realize this?
13:30I do realize.
13:31Someone had to say it.
13:32By the fifth episode of Season 2,
13:34we know by now that Ted Wheeler doesn't really do all that much.
13:38Nor is he remotely aware of the mysterious and dangerous supernatural stuff his kids have been dealing with.
13:43Heck, as we see in this scene when Dustin shows up to the Wheeler house,
13:47Ted doesn't even know where his kids are.
13:48Karen, where's Nancy?
13:51Allie!
13:52Allie's.
13:52Our children don't live here anymore.
13:55You didn't know that?
13:56Seriously?
13:57Am I done here?
13:59He has to ask Karen.
14:00And Dustin, with unashamed bluntness, says what many of us had been thinking.
14:05For a kid to deliberately voice this to his friend's dad was sure to catch our attention in the funniest way possible.
14:10He really said it.
14:11Hey, as Erica would say, it's just the facts.
14:14Son of a bitch.
14:15You know, you're really no help at all.
14:16You know that?
14:17Hey, language!
14:19Number 8.
14:20Murray's Car Ride Rant
14:21Children!
14:22Children!
14:23Children!
14:25This interminable bickering was amusing at first,
14:28but it's getting very stale,
14:30and we've still got a long drive ahead of us, so...
14:33Matchmaker Murray, or psychoanalyzer Murray,
14:36whatever you want to call him,
14:37he can see right through people,
14:39and he is not afraid to let them know when something they're doing or not doing is picking him off.
14:44Why don't you two cut the horseshit and get to the part where you admit your sexual feelings for one another?
14:50Whoa!
14:51You are way off it!
14:52With Hopper and Joyce bickering in the car during the seventh episode of season three,
14:57Murray has had enough,
14:58and he lets that be known in epic fashion,
15:01pleading with them to stop arguing and to finally admit their romantic feelings for one another.
15:05He is firm, direct, and utterly hysterical,
15:09You really like a nice man to settle down with,
15:12but admit it,
15:13you're real curious to know what he's like in the sack,
15:16and you.
15:18To cap it off,
15:19he explains his rant to Alexei with a short summarized Russian translation,
15:23and the two share a laugh.
15:24How could we not laugh during this scene too?
15:26So, please, for my sake,
15:29either quit your bickering,
15:31or pull over,
15:32tear off those clothes,
15:33and get it over with already!
15:37Number 7.
15:37The Pullout
15:38Yeah, no, no, I've got to drive.
15:40Drive?
15:41What, tonight?
15:42Our parents.
15:43Would be proud if they knew what you were up to.
15:47Just tell them you're a Tammy's, or Dawn's, or whoever's, and take my guest room.
15:53It does not take long at all for Murray to sniff out that there is something more there between Jonathan and Nancy.
15:59Feelings beyond those of just friends.
16:01Murray reads them like a book, pointing out their shared trauma.
16:04And the man's got a point.
16:06He even seemingly gets under their skin a bit.
16:08We soon see that he was indeed onto something,
16:11as Nancy and Jonathan kiss that night.
16:13Listen, there's a pullout sofa on my study if you want it.
16:18But if I were you,
16:20I'd just cut the bullshit and share the damn bed.
16:23And it seems the pullout sofa won't be necessary after all.
16:27Murray's reaction the next morning, knowing he was right, is absolute gold.
16:31His pullout pun is amazing.
16:34Combine that with Jonathan's startled reaction and Murray saying oops after dropping his food,
16:39and this whole scene is downright hilarious.
16:40How was the pullout?
16:44I'm sorry.
16:47The sofa.
16:48Oh yeah.
16:50Yeah, it was good.
16:52I bet.
16:56Oops.
16:58Number 6.
16:59She's Our Friend and She's Crazy
17:00My dog!
17:02Dentist's office opens in five!
17:06Four!
17:08Three!
17:08This moment from season one is nothing short of classic.
17:12After two bullies threaten Mike and Dustin with a dark ultimatum,
17:16Mike jumps off the cliff to protect his friend.
17:18Not to worry though,
17:19Elle shows up in heroic fashion,
17:21saving Mike with her telekinetic abilities.
17:23Dustin is visibly pleased to see her,
17:39as are we.
17:40Elle snaps one of the bullies' arms,
17:42and he and the other kid flee.
17:44A smiley Dustin then delivers an absolutely iconic line,
17:47ensuring these kids do not mess with them ever again or else.
17:51Yeah, that's right!
17:52You better run!
17:54She's our friend and she's crazy!
17:56You come back here and she'll kill you!
17:59You hear me?
18:00That's right, he knows he's safe now.
18:02His aggressive shouting with Eleven in the background is truly epic stuff.
18:06Number 5.
18:07Harry Steve
18:08Steve the Hair Harrington is obviously known for his hair,
18:23and to those as close to him as Dustin,
18:25he's also got a reputation for being hairy.
18:27Once Steve takes his shirt off before diving into Lover's Lake during season four,
18:31Lucas gets to see for himself.
18:33His reaction is priceless,
18:34and Dustin, who points out his knowledge of the matter,
18:37only makes things funnier.
18:39I keep telling him he needs to tame that jungle,
18:40but he claims the ladies dig it.
18:43Keep in mind,
18:44this is during a serious scene in which the characters are investigating a potential gate
18:48to the Upside Down located in the lake.
18:50And here's Dustin talking about Steve needing to tame that jungle.
18:54Lucas and Dustin's reactions to Max having a look cap off the moment brilliantly.
18:59We appreciate the comedic relief.
19:00Number 4.
19:02Murray and Erica's fiery meeting at Starcourt Mall
19:05When Murray shows up to Starcourt Mall during the season three finale,
19:13we get an absolutely golden personality clash between him and Erica.
19:17As they meet for the first time,
19:19let's just say there's no sharing pleasantries.
19:21What, you're just gonna waltz in there like it's Kami Disneyland or something?
19:25I'm sorry, who are you?
19:26Erica Sinclair, who are you?
19:28Murray Bauman.
19:30Erica shows she's more than willing to use her directness
19:33even towards an adult she's just met.
19:36As part of this hilarious confrontation,
19:38we watch her call Mr. Bauman Mr. Bumman and a bald bastard
19:42while blasting his faulty plan.
19:44Listen, Mr. Bumman,
19:46I'm not trying to tell you how to do things,
19:48but I've been down in that shithole for 24 hours.
19:51And with all due respect,
19:52you do what this man tells you,
19:54you're all gonna die.
19:56Murray delivers a humorous line of his own,
19:58just as we'd expect.
19:59These two are beyond entertaining.
20:02I'm sorry,
20:02why is this four-year-old speaking to me?
20:05Um, I'm 10, you bald bastard.
20:08Number three,
20:09Steve and Dustin's train track conversation.
20:11All right, so let me get this straight.
20:14You kept something you knew was probably dangerous
20:16in order to impress a girl
20:19who you just met?
20:21All right, that's grossly oversimplifying things.
20:25This is a defining moment for arguably the most beloved
20:28and unexpected friendship in Stranger Things.
20:31We're talking about Steve and Dustin.
20:32Their conversation on the train tracks in season two
20:35is such a great comedic scene
20:36marking the beginning of a brotherly bond.
20:39Dustin's comment about an interdimensional slug,
20:41aka his dear dart,
20:43is very funny stuff.
20:44I mean, why would a girl like some nasty slug anyway?
20:47An interdimensional slug?
20:48Because it's awesome.
20:50So is Steve trying to make sense of Dustin's situation,
20:53as well as Dustin trying to understand
20:54what Steve means by feeling electricity
20:56when it comes to girls.
20:57But the highlight of the sequence?
20:59It has to be Steve revealing the secret to his stellar hair.
21:03Well, not everyone can have your perfect hair, all right?
21:05Farrah Fawcett spray.
21:06Really?
21:07Farrah Fawcett spray?
21:08Yep, you heard the man.
21:10Can't argue with that hair.
21:11Use the shampoo and the conditioner,
21:13and when your hair's damp,
21:14it's not wet, okay, when it's damp.
21:16Damp.
21:18Do four puffs of the Farrah Fawcett spray.
21:22Farrah Fawcett spray?
21:23Yeah, Farrah Fawcett.
21:25You tell anyone I just told you that,
21:27and your ass is grass, you're dead, Henderson.
21:30Do you understand?
21:31Number two, Dustin's Pearls.
21:33I'll radio if she comes.
21:34Oh, yeah, nice try.
21:35You just want me out of here so you can make your move.
21:37Oh, because you're such a threat.
21:39That's right.
21:40She will not be able to resist these pearls.
21:44Multiple times throughout season two,
21:47Dustin shows off his teeth,
21:48or what he calls his pearls,
21:50while making a funny sound.
21:51He does it twice toward Lucas
21:53after suggesting Max won't be able to resist his pearls.
21:55What if Max says no?
21:57How could Max say no to these?
21:59I told you to stop that.
22:01And after Eleven's emotional return
22:03toward the end of season two,
22:05Dustin does that purring sound again.
22:07It's funny every time.
22:09You like these pearls?
22:12Eleven?
22:13But since we have to choose one instance,
22:16we're going with the one at the end
22:17of the season two finale.
22:19In this case,
22:20Steve has driven Dustin to the school dance.
22:22We see Dustin rocking a new hairdo
22:24courtesy of Steve's hairspray advice.
22:25Before going in,
22:27Dustin makes that funny sound again,
22:29and Steve hilariously reacts with disapproval.
22:34These two's chemistry is unmatched.

22:57Number one.
22:58Steve and Robin under the influence of truth serum.
23:08After being caught in an underground Russian base,
23:12Steve and Robin are injected
23:14with a truth serum of sorts.
23:15This stuff makes them quite loopy and giggly,
23:18kicking off an extremely funny sequence
23:20starting in the sixth episode of season three
23:22and carrying into the next episode.
23:24They're gonna come in here commando style,
23:27guns a-blazin'
23:28and kick your sorry asses back to Russia.
23:30You're gonna be two pieces of toast.
23:36Is that so?
23:38Yeah.
23:40We see them laughing,
23:41insisting they work for Scoops Ahoy,
23:43and hysterically calling the guys morons
23:45for messing up the drugs.
23:47Among other things,
23:48we also get Steve calling Dustin dad
23:50and a hilarious back-to-the-future conversation
23:52after their escape.
23:53He has to go back to the future
23:56because he's in the past,
23:58so the future is actually the present,
24:00which is his time.
24:05What?
24:07No, no, it's my turn.
24:08You've had...
24:09While still feeling the effects of the drugs,
24:12Robin explains what's happening in the movie to Steve,
24:15who is utterly confused.
24:17This whole sequence is peak Stranger Things comedy.
24:20She sounds like a Muppet giving birth.
24:24You can hold me tight.
24:26You can hold it on before I hold you.
