A baby girl whose emergency delivery at just 25 weeks saved both her and her mother’s life is at home for Christmas after months of hospital care. Parents Marie Louse and Jaimie recount their experience so far. Fiadh Coburn weighed just 1lb 12 oz when she was born on April 9 by C-section after mum Marie Louise suffered a major bleed due to a sudden placenta detachment.

00:00So Fia was born extremely prematurely at 25 weeks. She came and well we did know
00:09she was going to come early and there were some complications with the
00:11pregnancy and but still you never expect that it's really going to happen so we
00:17were in the right place we were in the Royal and she was whisked straight off
00:20to the neonatal unit and she was there for three and a half months and she was
00:25discharged home on her due date actually in July so she did very well
00:29it's a complicated journey and while she was there and she needed some help with
00:35her breathing she needed help with feeding tube feeds initially and then
00:40learning how to bottle feed and breastfeed and then she got home
00:48miraculously on her due date so we were delighted came home with no tubes no
00:52breathing support no oxygen so we were very happy. Obviously it was a very very
00:56worrying time for us but Fia has come through everything as well as Mary Louise
01:01and we're really we're really proud of both of them.
