Nicki Minaj sat down with Erika Kirk at AmericaFest for a raw, unscripted conversation that quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the summit. From fiery jabs at California Governor Gavin Newsom to a defiant rejection of censorship and cancel culture, Minaj made it clear she is done backing down. She spoke candidly about free speech, standing firm despite industry backlash, and why critics determined to “stay mad” no longer matter. The exchange also turned deeply personal as Minaj reflected on faith, her relationship with God, and the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, drawing repeated standing ovations from the crowd. The AmericaFest appearance marked a bold cultural and political statement, blending celebrity influence, conviction, and unapologetic defiance on a stage that erupted with applause. #nickiminaj #erikakirk #US #apt

00:08When I think I like, I better when he's out loud.
00:10When I think I like, I better when I fit it cap on.
00:12He ain't even got to try to put that back on.
00:14He just gotta give me that look.
00:15When he give me that look, then I'm really coming out.
00:17Oh, oh, excuse me, you're my elephant car.
00:19You know my brother, I'm a kid.
00:30Hi, hello, how are you?
00:43So those of you who know, Charlie was very good about having a surprise for every AmFest.
00:52And we are so blessed to have you.
00:55We are so grateful.
00:58I mean, thank you.
01:00I'm honored to be here.

01:04Thank you for having me.
01:12Love you guys.
01:15So we're just going to dive right into this.
01:18You had some fun words for Governor Newsom.
01:28I just, I have to read these tweets because they're amazing and they are so funny.
01:34Okay.
01:35First one.
01:36We'll do this one.
01:37Unless you want to read it in your own voice, I think it'd be really great.
01:42Okay.
01:43Oh, Gabby Poo, it only gets worse from here for you, buddy.
01:49It's the end of the road for you, my love.
01:52Get on the nearest jet ski and let that beautiful hair blow in the wind.
01:57It'll make you happier than this race that you will not win.
02:01Enjoy life.
02:02Peace.
02:09Okay.
02:10Okay.

02:39So I'm just gonna let you riff, like, I want you to say whatever you want to say to Mr. Newsome.
02:49Dear Newsome,
02:57we don't have a problem cleaning up the scum if we have to.
03:03Please tread lightly.
03:06That's what I would say to Gavie Poo.
03:09So with regard to the current administration,
03:16what has been maybe the biggest surprise for you or something that you just really has been put on your heart that you've learned about our president and our vice president?
03:29Well, I have the utmost respect.
03:37I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president.
03:44He has, I don't know if he even knows this, but he's given so many people hope that there's a chance to beat the bad guys and to win and to do it with your head held high and your integrity intact.
04:11Your integrity intact.
04:13Um, he's from Queens, New York like me.
04:18So, but what it's shown me personally is sometimes, you know, even in the worst feeling times in your life, you think that you're never gonna come back from it.
04:33But you do.
04:34But you do.
04:35And our president shows that he's been through every single thing a person could be through publicly, um, having to constantly be lied on.
04:48Um, it's not really that funny.
04:52Until you are in that person's shoes that's being lied on, you'll never understand what it feels like.
05:00That person is a human being, they have a family who has to read those lies.
05:05And that's not, and it's just not fair.
05:08Um, but this administration is full of people with heart and soul.
05:19Um, and, and they make me proud of them.
05:24Um, our vice president, he makes me, well, I, I love both of them, but they're, I, they're, they're both powerful men, smart, strong, all of that.
05:41Um, but both of them have a very uncanny ability to be someone that you relate to.
05:50I can relate to them.
05:51When I hear them speak, I know that they're one of us.
05:54Like, I know that they're not, don't you guys agree?
05:59They haven't, they haven't lost, they haven't lost touch of the world.
06:05You know, they're still connected to the world and what's happening in the world.
06:09Um, with the younger people and older people, with the richer people and not so rich people.
06:15They have the ability to still connect and be real and make us feel proud to be American.
06:28So why now have you, have you been involved with speaking about politics?
06:34What was kind of the, the turning point for you?
06:38Yeah.
06:39What was the turning point?
06:41Well, I just got tired of being pushed around.
06:47Um, sometimes you just get tired of it and then you realize, wait a minute.
06:59I have something inside of me that's stronger than what's out there.
07:06That's right.
07:07So when you've had enough, you realize, wait a minute, this, why do I even care about these people and what they think?
07:17Who are they?
07:18They don't even know who they are.
07:20So I'm not going to, I'm not going to back down anymore.
07:25I'm not going to back down ever again.
07:27Amen.
07:28Can the students in the room raise your hand?
07:42Wow.
07:45This question is, is for you guys.
07:48So you guys are very courageous and, and bold on your campus.
07:53Nikki, I know our students feel this way, but why do you think speaking your mind has become so controversial?
08:02Because people no longer are using their minds, their brains.
08:11So right now, just imagine, we're not allowed to have a different opinion anymore.
08:21We're not allowed to think out loud anymore.
08:25We're not a, like, it just, this is not what the world used to feel like.
08:34And especially for the young people, I don't want them growing up in a world where they feel like that.
08:41I mean, they deserve for their voices to be heard.
08:45They have valid feelings and, and they're thinking about things and it, and it deserves attention.
08:51You know, we, we should, we should listen to what they're saying.
08:56Um, and if you're growing up in a world that tells you it's taboo to say something that the masses don't agree with, that's, that, that's not okay.
09:09And we're not going to have it.
09:10And I, and I love this.
09:12You know, uh, it's, it's, it's giving the younger people confidence that they will need later on in life.
09:21You guys will need it and you will have it.
09:24So I'm rooting, I'm rooting for you.
09:27Amen.
09:28Amen.
09:29Again, Charlie would always say it, it really does not take skill to be courageous.
09:39It takes a choice.
09:40It takes a decision.
09:42And I just, I want to say again, thank you for coming and being courageous and being able to share your heart with us.
09:51And the reason why that also holds true sentiment wise is because I know that you are getting a lot of backlash from your own industry.
10:01What is your reaction to that?
10:04I didn't notice.
10:07Amen.
10:08I feel the same way.
10:14When people are like, what do you think about them?
10:16I'm like, I don't think about them.
10:17Bingo.
10:18We don't even think about them.
10:20We don't have time to.
10:21We're too busy building, right?
10:22Yeah.
10:23We're the, we're the cool kids.
10:25Okay.
10:26The other, the other, the other people, they're the ones who are still just disgruntled, but really they're just disgruntled with themselves.
10:35They, they are angry with themselves, you guys.
10:39So you can't wake up and think about somebody who is determined to just stay mad.
10:47I literally tell them, stay mad.
10:50Amen.
10:51Stay mad.
10:52Cause we're going to stay joyful.
10:54Yup.
10:55And peaceful.
10:56And iconic.
10:57And smart.
10:58Yup.
10:59And we're going to stay thinkers.
11:01In a world that doesn't want us to think, we will think.
11:06By ourselves, on our own.
11:08We will continue to think.
11:11This is something I know that's really important to you and on your heart.
11:38And I just, I, I personally want to know what inspired you to speak out for the Christians that are being slaughtered in Nigeria?
11:48Well, and that brings me back to our great president and this administration and our great country.
11:59That we take for granted that there, right now in this world, are people who cannot worship God as they please, where they please.
12:09We take it for granted because we have it.
12:12We can't even imagine not having that right.
12:16But every time we pray and fellowship, we have to remember the people that are right now in this world hiding to pray and fellowship.
12:28And we have to pray for them.
12:30And, first of all, Nigeria is a place I've always loved.
12:37Someone very dear to me, my pastor, is Nigerian.
12:42I have lots of Nigerian barbs.
12:45And so, hearing that people are being kidnapped, and while they're in church, people are being kidnapped, people are being killed, brutalized, all because of their religion.
13:03And that should spark outrage in the great America.
13:10And that's what it did.
13:12And, again, we're not backing down anymore.
13:16We are not going to be silenced by the bullies anymore.
13:21Okay?
13:22Know that.
13:24Hear that.
13:26Receive that, bullies.
13:29We won't be silenced ever again.
13:32We will speak up for Christians wherever they are in this world.
13:36Amen.
13:37Amen.
13:38Amen.
13:39I don't know if you can see this at home, but she is getting a ton of standing ovations.
13:53I love you guys so much.
13:56Thank you, guys.
13:57So, going along that thread, can you tell us about your relationship with God?
14:06Because I think a lot of us want to hear.
14:08Sure.
14:09Well, my relationship with God started, well, when I was a toddler in Trinidad, my grandmother,
14:21if things got spicy in the house, like if the kids and grandkids were arguing or fighting,
14:30she would make all the little kids go in her room and make us say a prayer.
14:37So, later on in my life, well, not much later, when I was like 10, 11, 12, I started going to church in New York.
14:51And it changed everything.
14:54It changed my life for the better because I was going every week.
14:59I was hearing the word of God be preached.
15:05And then I was going home and I was applying it to my life.
15:09Even as a little girl, I learned how to pray very early.
15:15I always had this feeling.
15:21And I was wearing a black man, I was thinking a lot, and I was like an issue with God.
15:26I was like 4 children since the hospital.
15:31You were doing everything with me.
15:33It was just that separated from my tree.
15:35I was given him before looking to talk about a child, it was a whole group of things.
15:39So, I晋with, what happened, I did some stuff was in myом questão for me.
15:43It was just again that there's a lot of the point.
