00:20and now we know why i was cast it's typecasting it's method acting she's evil that's the way it's
00:27gonna be um so how does it feel to be hosting the golden joystick awards it feels like
00:37it feels like that um no it feels awesome i always love working with you guys you're awesome and uh
00:47awesome i swear i have other words in my vocabulary besides awesome uh yeah 10 out of 10 would work
00:55with you anytime i'm very excited to be hosting the golden joysticks this year well good i'm very
01:00excited to see you there um because you have of course you've won a joystick before um for your
01:06portrayal in resident evil village and uh looking back what's your memory of that it's interesting
01:12because this was all still pandemic times and so that happened virtually and i remember being a little
01:21dumb dumb and y'all were probably laughing at me because you had me present an award and then at
01:28the end it was framed they were trying to keep it a secret that i actually won the award so it was
01:34framed in the lens of like um we're just gonna have everyone record an acceptance speech just in case
01:41and then whoever wins will will play that relevant acceptance speech so i did a speech and i was like
01:48oh my god thank you so much yep and then they were like no no you actually won it no this is real
01:56this isn't not just filming this is this is the real deal and so i had no clue so i recorded and i had no
02:03clue and then we had to re-record with an actual reaction because i was just doing the polite like wow
02:09thank you so much for the bubbly boop um so it was very silly so as i as usual was in just a whirlwind
02:17of chaotic emotion and it was very gratifying to receive the award of course this was a character
02:23and a role that changed my life in every possible way and so then to have the to receive awards like
02:31like the golden joysticks and have all of the work that both i and the rest of the team with capcom
02:37and the developers and the other actors on the game put into it recognized and rewarded was
02:41extremely extremely gratifying i love that yeah well obviously village was a well it still is an
02:48incredible game but i remember when that came out and we were a few of us were playing it pre-release
02:54for like our respective jobs and it became this wonderful kind of um contest as to who had the best
03:00of running with lady domitresk during the game oh that's fun i just ran away every time the moment
03:06i heard stupid man thing i was like sit straight out of there so much um you mentioned uh obviously
03:16you know you mentioned the team and we could talk about that for a while but i kind of want to just
03:22go with that similar kind of energy and look at the wonderful nominees we have this year in specifically
03:30the incredible actors that we have this year and i'm wondering if there are any particular performances
03:34within a game from 2025 that have stood out to you i knew you were gonna ask me this and i gotta say
03:41this is sophie's choice for me because now i'm friends with all of these people and you can't ask me
03:48you can't ask me to decide they're all so amazing and so talented and so incredibly deserving so we're
03:55gonna leave it in the hands of the fans and let them decide and no matter who wins i will be ecstatic
04:02that is the perfect answer for the host wonderful this was actually a secret audition that was a test
04:10flying colors that was wonderful there are there are loads of great performances this year i can't
04:16choose either for what it's worth so you know you're not on your own there anyway um but as an actor
04:22you know obviously you've given us some iconic characters you mentioned lady d you know you think
04:25of borders gate three and that wonderful you actually jump scared me in that game when when the
04:30character does the you know or understood the transformation it's like haha i was actually this
04:34person and i i just remember being really upset because it suckered me in and i was like about
04:4180 hours in and i was like how'd i fall for this oh sweet gullible little thing you that makes me very
04:49happy to hear but with with those incredible characters how do you go about like um or rather what is the most
04:57important thing that you believe you need to bring a role to life acting no um i think especially for
05:07the villains because i've thus far predominantly played villains in these video games uh it's very
05:14important that you don't judge them and you have to be able to look at them with love in order to fully
05:21understand their whys and who they are and for orrin a lot of people like to just call her um
05:31psychotic but for me she is that but the reason why she is that is because she
05:38is secretly just like a broken little thing she does not have she's never known love she was never
05:45taught how to love she literally that's a foreign concept to her she has no idea what that even
05:51looks or feels like the only thing she knows is violence so of course she is the way that she is
05:56so for me i look at her with a lot of empathy and compassion of like oh my gosh you sweet little thing
06:01you don't know any better and you have so much fun you have so much fun doing it too so i think i think
06:09that's probably the most important part of what i do and then also i think specifically in video games
06:14it's important as an actor to always remain flexible because we have maybe like one percent
06:22of the information as actors and then the developers and the voice directors they have
06:28the other 99 of the information so i might have come in making certain choices or having certain
06:33ideas in place but i could show up on the day and they would be like actually we kind of needed
06:40to be more like this and then it's my job as the actor to be flexible and versatile enough to drop
06:46what i had come in prepared with and be like cool we're going to go in a completely different
06:50direction so you have to be able to have that collaboration and that flexibility on the day
06:58yeah i never really thought about that really the idea that you know because you do have your
07:02own interpretation and someone else could go no not it you could book the job with one with your
07:09audition that you did one way and then you come in to do the job and they're like hey we actually
07:13changed it so we need you to do more like this this and this and then you're like cool happy
07:17days gotta switch um yeah well i mean with your characters you become sort of synonymous with them
07:24so i like the idea that at a certain point maybe you weren't actually aware of how they're going to
07:29be so that's kind of cool um but but related to that i did want to bring up something so i actually
07:35met you before and that was in 2023 at the golden joysticks um and i worked at fts at the time so you
07:42know big love to them um i went to get water for me and some of the staff and then you arrived for
07:47our interview earlier than i was told so i was rushed back and in lady d's voice you told me off for
07:55being late and i just wonder how often does that voice help you out in everyday life
08:05i should probably utilize it more to be honest with you i could probably
08:09work that to my favor um
08:16maybe i tell myself off as lady d's voice like do your laundry god dang it um something like that
08:24to motivate me and scare me into actually doing the things that i need to do i should i should employ
08:28it more though i think it would be quite lucrative if i just go into meetings as lady d and then come
08:35out with everything i ever wanted and more probably is how i think it's very unlikely uh a director
08:40will tell you to do a character differently if that's if that's how you say i'm sticking no
08:46um also there was a very nice moment there that i thought i'd uh just bring up as well after it uh
08:51neil newbon saw you friend of yours and uh you both embrace in a siblingly hug that was so wonderful
08:57um it really took the edge out of the scary voice from 10 minutes earlier so but yeah generally i'm
09:03still scared at that at that moment so thank you for that good you should be and don't let that happen
09:10again well we'll find out next time everybody about lady d she has high standards and you she expects
09:17everyone to meet them and there's something that i really respect about that i think we in general
09:23but especially women could it could serve us to bring that energy with us wherever we go of like
09:30bars here you better meet me where i'm at otherwise you better go so i i do admire that about lady d
09:38that is a really good point but when you said like high standards that was a pun wasn't it
09:42yes i intended that from the start and you think that's okay just a pun i'm very upset this this
09:53interview is frankly going off the rails again this this is falling apart at the seams this is terrible
09:58you are walking a very thin line it's true i know i'm sat down whilst doing it um let's move on quickly
10:04before we get into more trouble um resident evil requiem is our next year okay you did this amazing
10:10trailer where you you you come and talk about resident evil and kind of kind of tip it and
10:15yeah because you are a resident evil icon at this point so i love you saying that well and i mean it
10:23with all my heart so you know as an icon of the series do you have um any sort of thoughts or hopes
10:30for the upcoming game my thoughts and my hopes are i'm i'm so excited it was so fun to do that video
10:38and to be working with that team i'm so grateful to have been brought on to do that and i'm deeply
10:43excited about re9 i can't wait to see what it's about this is generous because spoilers actors know
10:53nothing so i am equally in the dark about anything involved in it as everyone else is so i will i will
11:00be just as excited once it's all unveiled we obviously i also know nothing about the game but i
11:06imagine it'll be quite scary the that's a safe bet i would say okay there we go confirmed what we know
11:14about the franchise it is a horror franchise i think that's a safe bet absolutely um so you've
11:22obviously you've been in a lot of series not just resident evil and mentioned boulder's gate and
11:26plenty of games if you could go back to any of the games specifically you've been in
11:31in like a sort of parallel universe version and play a different character in that same
11:36game are there any characters you you would like to have played or that you think you would be fun to
11:41jump into okay there are so many in boulder's gate though this is another soapy's choice there's so
11:48many cool characters in boulder's gate but you know what i think i would want to play the silliest
11:55goofiest goofiest gooberiest character i don't know maybe maybe i'll like swap places with aleona
12:05varanova who plays who wears many hats within the realm of alders gate but one of her many hats is she
12:11plays this squirrel so maybe it would be my my truest wish to just play a squirrel
12:20a squirrel or like a dog something weird and derpy that just comes out and is like what
12:28i absolutely love that what a fantastic fantastic transition that would be thank you this is my
12:34audition please cast me as your next derpy warty toad or a squirrel that's lost its acorn is frantically
12:41searching for it um a dog that sniffs too many butts i don't know whatever that is i'm ready team i i
12:50i i personally would love to but aleona would be very upset with me and i'm not i'm not prepared
12:53to incur her wrath so i'm not doing it um look at her wrath i'll play a different squirrel don't worry
13:02i could do like a sort of gray and red squirrel duo that might work ooh battle of the squirrel i like
13:10it and my squirrel's just big i have a giant squirrel and she has a teeny tiny square up and then i stomp
13:16on her and smoosh her under my pobs i can see it now the poster we've got squirrel x squirrel the
13:24caption is perfect we've got this written down done we'll make a million get writing make it happen
13:36wonderful um to bring us back to reality because i keep dragging you into silly cul-de-sacs i'm sorry but
13:42i have no off switch um yeah no i hate silly cul-de-sacs clearly so what am i like um looking
13:49back over 2025 we it feels like a blur of amazing video game releases like just non-stop incredible
13:57things um do you think it's been a good year for video games definitely i mean we can look at our
14:05nominees and and tell that oh my dog whining shut up i'm in an interview don't interrupt me again uh
14:16where was i yes we can look at the nominees list and already tell that it's been a fantastic year for
14:23gaming there are so many cool games and so many different games telling different stories than i think
14:28we've ever seen before so that is part of what is so exciting for me as a consumer and with uh with
14:35ultimate game of the year which is sort of you know the big the big award at the joysticks it's
14:40full of big awards but this is like you know considered the biggest by many um with it being an
14:46award voted for by the public do you think that makes it more special at all oh interesting
14:54i mean we everything we do as artists especially in video games we are all we're doing it for the
15:04fans so we wouldn't be here without them and so it feels right to me to give them an opportunity to
15:11give us the feedback of what we're doing right and what's working for them um they are the reason why
15:16we do it all wonderful what a lovely answer and a little bit of fear in your eyes at the end
15:22though and you're like was that yeah did i did i do it did i did it okay you did remarkably um but
15:30i hear a dog whining and i didn't even know you had a dog maggie what kind of dog do you have
15:34oh i'm shocked that you didn't because i'm obsessed with her and i won't shut up about her
15:38this uh she is a big old mutt oh big old variety different things she looks maybe schnauzery because
15:47she's got this big luscious beard and she and eyebrows that just go and she looks like an 80
15:53year old man but is in fact a young a young woman i love that so much yeah so she's everything to me
16:02and i birthed her thanks in that case uh i might as well ask one of the the most cliche questions ever
16:08are you a dog person cat person or both i clearly i'm a dog person
16:16cats i like the idea of but i don't love the idea am i allowed to curse
16:24okay i don't like the concept of anything that's in the house um i don't need that in my in my space so
16:30maybe if i had an outdoor cat that holds hold for like five seconds holding
16:38so that's a his face don't the house stop it it's rude use the toilet or go outside there you go

17:21you're underfoot you are literally under my feet okay and i was gonna show you off but i guess you don't
17:27want to she's a shy ghoul she's a shy she can't she couldn't possibly be on camera because she's too
17:33shy nothing he would be shy but he's too he's too dense to realize just doesn't figure it out um
