00:00A man wearing a max headroom mask. We have been taken over by a video pirate.
00:06Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're taking a look at 20 times live TV made for some seriously creepy mysteries.
00:12It's coming toward us now, I think.
00:14What?
00:15See, it's coming toward us.
00:17TV presenters spooked by poltergeist.
00:20In October 2016, popular Mexican clairvoyant Moni Vidente appeared on the TV program Sale El Sol to discuss the weather.
00:31But her presence seemed to serve something unsettling in the room.
00:34Just as Vidente began talking about the existence of angels, a piece of the set mysteriously broke away and crashed to the floor right behind her.
00:41This left another set piece spinning in place, a sight that sent chills through one of the startled presenters on the panel.
00:47After this clip went viral, Vidente took to social media to state that she had felt the presence of a powerful spirit in the room,
00:53which some believe may have been behind the eerie disturbance.
00:56These souls, who for whatever reason are not at rest, are also not aware that they have passed on.
01:06Twin sisters run into oncoming traffic.
01:0840-year-old identical twins from Sweden wandered out onto one of Britain's busiest motorways.
01:14In May 2008, passers-by on the M6 motorway in England called highway police after spotting twin sisters Ursula and Sabrina Erickson recklessly darting into traffic.
01:23A documentary crew for the BBC series Motorway Cops happened to be with the police and their cameras captured the bizarre events that followed.
01:30While talking with the officers, the sisters suddenly broke free, running into oncoming traffic and sustaining severe injuries.
01:35Even after regaining consciousness, Sabrina attacked an officer and attempted to run back onto the highway before being restrained.
01:42Just days later, Sabrina ended the life of an innocent man who offered her a place to stay out of pity.
01:47It's believed that both sisters suffered from a form of shared psychosis.
01:50What would possibly compel anyone to do this?
01:54Strange individual at congressional hearing.
01:56And what I'm about to tell you sounds like it's out of some fiction spy thriller.
02:03In February 2023, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley testified before the House Judiciary Subcommittee about alleged abuse of federal authority.
02:11But for most viewers at home, Grassley's words were eclipsed by the eerie presence of a man sitting right behind him.
02:16Throughout the 15-minute statement, this bespectacled figure stared right at the camera with an unsettlingly blank expression.
02:22He hardly moved and even more unnervingly barely blinked, only occasionally closing one eye in a slow, deliberate manner.
02:28Many have speculated that he might be Grassley's aide, but even that has not been confirmed.
02:33This strange individual's chilling stare was enough to give anyone the creeps.
02:43Japanese Tsunami Ghosts
02:52In March 2011, Japan was gripped by one of the most horrific natural disasters in human history.
02:57A powerful earthquake rocked the sea floor, triggering a tsunami that claimed nearly 20,000 lives and inflicted over $300 billion in damages.
03:05Amid the devastation, news cameras captured some strange images in the water.
03:09White, ghostly figures appeared to leap from the waves, landing on nearby buildings or simply vanishing into thin air.
03:15These spectral sightings didn't end there.
03:17In the years following the disaster, many survivors reported seeing the restless spirits of the victims roaming the streets and in some cases hailing down cabs.
03:25Could these be actual ghosts or mere manifestations of grief?
03:28The answer remains unknown.
03:29And another 3,000 people whose bodies have not been found continue to haunt some of the survivors.
03:34Pope Francis vanishes
03:36And then watch this right here, coming up right after this.
03:40You've heard of religious miracles like turning water into wine or parting the Red Sea.
03:44But have you ever imagined the Pope vanishing into thin air?
03:47One social media user claimed to witness just that during a live broadcast from the Vatican City.
03:51In the eerie footage, Pope Francis is seen addressing the crowd from his balcony.
03:55But as he turns to retreat inside, he simply disappears into nothingness.
03:58It's a spooky sight that left the individual who posted the video understandably alarmed.
04:03The clip ignited a flurry of conspiracy theories.
04:05Is the Pope a hologram?
04:06Was he being shielded from some unseen danger?
04:08Maybe.
04:09But the true explanation may be as simple as an editing glitch.
04:12And...
04:14Poof, he's gone.
04:17Did you see that?
04:18Mysteriously moving glass of water.
04:20The Primera Edición breakfast show in Honduras had their own fair share of a spooky occurrence during a live taping in 2015.
04:26While presenting the morning news, host Carlos Molina notices his glass of water move on its own.
04:31He's taken aback, naturally, and calls the attention of his co-host Pablo Zapata to it.
04:41Molina described feeling a chilling sensation just seconds before observing the self-sliding glass, attributing it to a paranormal experience.
04:48But no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
04:53Viewers were a bit more skeptical, however, speculating that it was likely a prank on the hosts by their co-workers.
04:58This notion has since been dismissed by Molina, who countered that when he tried to move the glass afterwards, it remained stuck to the table.
05:04UFO Flashes Intense Bright Light
05:06In February 2020, a crowd of over 200 people gathered for a UFO sighting at Yaya Beach in Peru, which has been described as a hotspot for the strange objects.
05:14The event was covered by Capital TV and broadcast live to thousands of viewers.
05:18At one point, some people in the audience noticed an unexplained light hovering above the sea.
05:22They pointed their laser pens at the mysterious object, only to be hit by an intense bright light in response.
05:27As the program was filmed late in the night, it's not quite clear what the light source could be.
05:30A boat? A drone? A UFO? We'll leave that for you to decide.
05:33Spanish Reporter with Reptilian Eyes
05:35This unsettling footage was captured by a viewer who was watching the Spanish news channel, Televisión Español Internacional.
05:42Towards the end of the piece, the reporter blinks repeatedly and for a brief moment, a second set of eyeballs appears over his closed eyelids.
05:48I'm looking at this reporter and I noticed something about his eyes at the very last minute.
05:53According to the viewer, this was possible proof of the reporter being an anthropomorphic reptile camouflaging among humans.
05:58The actual explanation, however, may be a lot less fantastic.
06:01Some internet users speculated that the reporter may have been wearing contact lenses, which made him blink often.
06:06There it is, the blink. I'm gonna do it in slow-mo now. There we go.
06:14That, combined with a camera compression glitch, likely resulted in the reptilian effect.
06:18Either way, the appearance is sure to give anyone watching the creeps.
06:21Paranormal Newspapers
06:23These days it seems poltergeists and breakfast shows go hand in hand.
06:26Yet another alleged poltergeist disturbance occurred on the morning club show at Club FM in Tirana, Albania.
06:31At first everything seems normal, until suddenly it isn't.
06:33The host, Blendi Saleh, appears to be interviewing a guest on the program when a newspaper on the table in front of them abruptly flies off camera.
06:40What makes this particularly disturbing is that the two are the only ones sitting in the booth and there aren't any doors open or windows in sight.
06:48So what exactly could have thrown the newspaper in the air?
06:55Understandably, Saleh and his guests are dumbfounded.
06:57And frankly, so are we.
07:02UFO descends on London Football Match
07:05In February 2019, the eighth edition of the FA Women's League Cup was underway.
07:09The second semifinals match saw Arsenal go up against Manchester United, with the former winning by two goals to one.
07:14But it seems humans weren't the only ones interested in the league.
07:17During the aforementioned match, one eagle-eyed fan spotted a mysterious object hovering above the stadium.
07:22Where Melbourne Victory faced Perth Glory.
07:24That's at 2.45am on ESPN.
07:27And Brisbane Roar are up against Sydney.
07:29Upon closer inspection, the viewer noticed a strange red object emitting the light.
07:33Like many other sightings, it's hard to tell if this was some form of spacecraft or just a drone.
07:37That's at 2.45am on ESPN.
07:40And Brisbane Roar are up against Sydney live.
07:43If it was indeed a bunch of aliens watching, we can only hope they at least enjoyed the game.
07:46The Ghostly Groundsmen.
07:47In September 2016, football fans who tuned into Sky Sports for Sunderland's match against Everton were in for a spooky surprise.
07:54Here's Lukaku, on for his hat-trick to finish it.
07:59While the pundits discussed the game afterwards, observant viewers picked up an enigmatic figure on a screen in the background.
08:06Which then mysteriously vanished.
08:07The individual appeared to be a groundsman tidying up the stadium after the game.
08:11Is the fact that last season they were a bit of an unknown quantity.
08:14Nobody really set up to play to nullify their strengths this season.
08:17I think teams are ready for them.
08:19Moments later, a similar phenomenon occurred with another figure.
08:22Fans who spotted the Ghost Groundsmen took to social media to voice out their perplexity.
08:26This could have been two phantoms caught on camera or just stock footage of the stadium being played on a loop.
08:31If only we knew which.
08:32Mystery voice interrupts Queen Elizabeth's funeral.
08:34The 2022 state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II was one of the most watched TV broadcasts in British history.
08:40With over 26 million residents tuning in to catch the event.
08:43Some of London's busiest routes, closed, lined with people, throwing flowers, cheering, taking photos.
08:52Those who watched the funeral on ITV may have picked up a mysterious voice as the Queen's hearse made its way to West London.
08:58For a few seconds, a female voice can be heard whispering about death and being trapped.
09:01Death is irreversible and the fact that she's trapped.
09:04Soon after, social media erupted with speculation about where the sound could have come from.
09:09One notable theory surmised that it was possibly the voice of the late Princess Diana.
09:13However, according to certain sources, it was simply that of a guest being picked up by the presenter's microphone.
09:18The Haunted Dolly.
09:19Here's one that'll rock the boat.
09:21On ITV's This Morning, a couple were being interviewed about alleged strange activity surrounding a china doll they'd gotten from a thrift store.
09:28You almost look like Deb, you don't want to even look at the doll.
09:30No, I don't.
09:31Are you a bit scared?
09:32I don't even want to touch it.
09:33Really?
09:34Yeah.
09:35The lady who bought the doll in here originally, who'd bought it, she said her husband was scratched on his arms and legs.
09:44Yeah, she did, didn't she?
09:45Yeah.
09:46So do you believe that this doll has done that?
09:47Ah, yes I do.
09:48Because I've been scratched over the past week or eight days that I've had the doll on my arm.
09:53It's no surprise the toy changed hands so quickly.
10:00We've all seen enough movies to know that keeping possessed dolls around is a big no-no.
10:06Prayer Phone-In Possession.
10:08Cha Fu Pong's live actions may have been in the past few days, but it's not a huge deal.
10:12It's no surprise the toy changed hands so quickly.
10:14We've all seen enough movies to know that keeping possessed dolls around is a big no-no.
10:18Prayer Phone-In Possession.
10:20Cha Fu Pong's live actions may have been uneasy to the eyes, but this next example of on-air possession proved to be an assault on the ears.
10:28We've got our first caller, inshallah ta'ala.
10:31Salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah.
10:33Wa alaikum salam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh.
10:37You okay, sister?
10:39This religious live show encourages viewers to call in and receive advice and guidance from a holy sheik.
10:44One such phone call was made by a woman in 2011, claiming to have been overtaken by a demonic entity known colloquially as a jinn.
10:52Also, um… also…
11:01The woman then supposedly underwent a sudden change in personality while staying on the line, laughing sinisterly as she mocked the Islamic host.
11:13The sheik proceeded to banish the demon with an impromptu exorcism, and the bizarre episode was done.
11:23Whether it was fake or genuine, it was certainly creepy.
11:26The Running Shadow.
11:27So, we've gone through aliens.
11:29Now how about moving shadows?
11:30During the broadcast of a soccer game at the Hernando Siles Stadium in 2014, cameras caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a moving dark figure.
11:38Although it was running at full speed, people in the crowd didn't seem to notice.
11:42What made this incident all the more creepy was the fact that the figure can be seen moving through fans and even a barrier.
11:48While some theorize that the figure was in fact a soccer player double exposed on camera, to this day, the cause of this mysterious apparition remains unknown.
11:57The UFO Summoner.
11:58Is seeing really believing?
12:00In 2005, Ramon Watkins, a man from Las Vegas who called himself Yahweh, claimed to have learned from the Old Testament how to summon UFOs.
12:20In a news report meant to expose him as a fraud, an ABC news reporter was left baffled when Watkins proceeded to seemingly manifest mysterious orbs of light floating in the sky.
12:31I can see it clear as day.
12:33In fact, it's bright.
12:34I can't believe this.
12:35It's moving pretty fast.
12:37It's going to Nellis Air Force Base.
12:39It wants to be seen.
12:41The orange lights danced above their heads momentarily before disappearing.
12:45Many who saw this demonstration hailed it as evidence of the almighty, referring to the fact that it had been the news team who had picked the location, day, and time to conduct the interview, leaving practically no room for Watkins to have feasibly staged the summoning.
12:59Divine power or complex misdirection?
13:02How's that for a magic trick?
13:03The Vrillon hoax.
13:05Across the pond in 1977, something even more bizarre occurred.
13:09The UK's southern television had their evening news interrupted by a six-minute audio message of apparent extraterrestrial origin.
13:16The unsettling, booming voice coming through claimed to represent the Ashtar Galactic Command.
13:22These aliens offered humanity a peaceful alliance if they renounced their corrupt ways and weapons of war, speaking cultishly of new ages and promises of transcendence.
13:49The channel apologized for the outlandish signal intrusion, chalking it up to a hoax.
14:04It would indeed be strange if aliens broadcast a message to just one channel.
14:08Those responsible have never come forward.
14:10Dare we look up to the sky and wonder?
14:13The redeeming states of your existence.
14:16May you be blessed by the supreme of a vengeful encounter.
14:21The Max Headroom Hijack.
14:23In 1987, two television stations in Chicago were hijacked in perhaps the most surreal act of video piracy ever recorded.
14:31Take some pretty significant equipment, technical equipment, and some knowledge of broadcast frequencies.
14:38Both instances featured an unidentified man dressed as obscure TV personality Max Headroom dancing to distorted audio.
14:46The second video, significantly longer, saw the man rambling incoherently in a distorted voice.
14:51Oh, and being swatted on the behind by an off-screen accomplice.
14:54Your tribe. That is the only way to learn.
14:57I'll get you a hot drink, miss.
14:59Why don't you try it close, miss?
15:01He's a freak, you know.
15:04He's got to get that bird in the chest.
15:06Responses to the rubber-grinned menace ranged from bemused to horrified,
15:10and the perpetrators of this seemingly random act were never identified.
15:14The segments lasted no more than a couple of minutes, but have gone down as among the most notorious incidents in television history.
15:20That face is not an easy one to forget.
15:23My brother is wearing the other one.
15:26But it's dirty!
15:29The Australian Mayday Incident
15:31While not technically a live event, these issues with broadcasting happened in real time.
15:36During the airing of an episode of the documentary series Mayday,
15:39the audio from a previous news broadcast somehow replaced some of the original show's audio.
15:44This eerie new soundtrack was a looping soundbite of a Halliburton truck driver reacting to his convoy being ambushed in Iraq.
15:51For six freaky minutes, everyone at home watching was subjected to the driver repeating,
15:56Jesus Christ, help us all Lord, over and over.
15:59The fact that this was coinciding with footage relating to a passenger train crash made a deeply unsettling end result.
16:15The creepiest part is, nobody knows exactly how it happened.
16:18Mayday indeed.

16:36Gary Stolman
16:37The lengths people will go to to make themselves heard.
16:40He saw us arriving, he put the gun down and said, I don't want to hurt anybody and that was it.
16:45And that was it.
16:46In the middle of a 1987 broadcast, Gary Stolman walked onto the KNBC set behind TV reporter David Horowitz
16:53and pointed a gun at his back, ordering him to read a statement concerning paranoid theories that the CIA cloned Stolman's father.
17:00The blindsided presenters were clearly horrified, but Horowitz was able to keep us cool throughout.
17:06The statement ended with the admission that the firearm was a BB firing replica
17:10before Stolman calmly placed the toy on the desk, apparently having never intended to harm anyone.
17:15The gunman placed the gun on the desk and anchorman John Beard grabbed it.
17:19Burbank police wrestled a man to the floor.
17:22He has been identified as Gary Stolman and he said he never intended to harm anyone.
17:27Indeed, the gun proved a fake.
17:29This incident resulted in Horowitz spearheading a campaign to ban realistic toy firearms.
17:34What's the creepiest thing you've ever seen while watching TV?
17:37Let us know in the comments.
