00:00And you said it's been a trying time for Bangladesh, but this also comes at a time when ties between India and Bangladesh have been tense, too.
00:09What more can you tell us about that?
00:12Absolutely. I mean, you know, we saw how Sheikh Hasina's ouster set into motion a series of events because when that student-led uprising happened, she fled to New Delhi.
00:24Now, New Delhi is a country that's been closely associated with a 15-year-long tenure.
00:30And many in Bangladesh feel that New Delhi had a say in domestic politics and decisions, something that India has repeatedly denied, that Sheikh Hasina has denied.
00:40But, you know, that was at the heart of the anger that sort of spilled onto the streets when that student-led uprising happened, that Hadi was very much a prominent part of.
00:50Hadi was also a very vocal anti-India critic.
00:55And that's why we saw the sort of anger that we did in the aftermath of his death being confirmed.
01:00The newspapers that were attacked were believed to have pro-India leaning.
01:06Of course, the government has denied that and stood by those journalists that worked at those two organizations that came under attack.
01:14But we've also seen, of course, now mounting calls for India to do something, because there's, you know, speculation on social media and Bangladesh that the men who killed Hadi may have fled across the border into India.
01:28Many saying that India should not only find those men and hand them over to Dhaka, but also at the same time send Sheikh Hasina back.
01:35Bangladesh has made, you know, repeated pleas to India to extradite Sheikh Hasina.
01:41They have an extradition treaty.
01:43India has not formally commented on it.
01:45It says, you know, due process is being studied.
01:48But it's quite unlikely experts say that India will extradite, you know, the former head of state.
01:53And that has, you know, made a tense situation worse.
