00:00Look a lot like Christmas, but not nearly enough for my liking.
00:05I am totally Little Miss Christmas.
00:08I'm Sarah Davies and crafting is my passion, especially at Christmas.
00:13That looks right. Thank you, Mama Craft. Lovely.
00:17So I'm on a mission to spread a bit of homemade festive magic.
00:21One, two, three.
00:26Each week I'll be joined by two celebrity crafters,
00:30going head-to-head to make the best decorations.
00:36Oh, it's a contest.
00:38Oh, that is fabulous.
00:41I mean, I'm supposed to pick a winner, aren't I?
00:43Together, we'll be sprucing up our trees.
00:46Up to perfection.
00:47I think I've got a bit roll.
00:49Yes.
00:51And sparkling up our centerpieces.
00:53Nice little golden pipe.
00:55Wow.
00:55I'm just thinking, oh, you've got...
00:58It was a really bad idea.
01:00So grab your glue guns and let's get Christmas crafting.
01:17Joining me for some festive fun today,
01:20podcast host Rosie Ramsey and EastEnders actor Tameka Empson.
01:24This is very nice.
01:27Oh, hello. Oh, hello.
01:29Christmas is my season.
01:32I do enjoy crafting.
01:33I don't think I'm that good, but I'd give it a good try.
01:37What a nice day.
01:38This is the Christmas before Christmas.
01:40Our Christmas is going to be, like, off the hook.
01:43I have never met Tameka,
01:44but I've just started watching Traitors last night,
01:46so I want all of the gossip.
01:49This is probably going to be better than my actual Christmas.
01:54The shoes.
01:55You know what?
01:55There's no cooking as well.
01:56No cooking, no cleaning.
01:57No cooking, no kids.
01:58It's about us.
02:01It is about us.
02:02Yes.
02:03I cannot wait to get stuck into crafting.
02:06It is the thing that I love to do,
02:08but I don't always have time to do it.
02:10And I'm like, yeah, this is mummy time.
02:12This is for us now.
02:14Yeah.
02:15So, your elves are here.
02:17Oh, it's very Christmas.
02:19Oh, look at that.
02:20Look.
02:24Hello.
02:25Where are you?
02:27I'm going to see two people.
02:30So excited, Melissa.
02:31So, Sarah, she is the Queen of Crafts,
02:34and I follow her on Instagram,
02:35and I watch her do all of her stuff at her kitchen bench,
02:38so to actually be there with her and to do it,
02:40that's going to be really, really fun.
02:41You ready?
02:42We're ready.
02:42Yes, come on.
02:43Let's get started.
02:50Everything my celebrity guests make over the next few weeks
02:53is to transform this beautiful house
02:55into a magical Christmas party venue.
02:58And we're having a little friendly competition
03:02to see which of them does it best.
03:06Right, so I've got so much to cram into today
03:09because I've invited lots of local people from the area
03:12who can't celebrate Christmas Day on Christmas Day
03:15because they're working.
03:16Oh, that's hilarious.
03:16So I thought we'd throw them a little party tonight
03:18and we'd get the room decorated
03:20with everything homemade for Christmas.
03:22Have you done much crafting?
03:25Oh, I...
03:26I have.
03:29I don't know about you,
03:30but I have great ideas.
03:31Yeah.
03:32I know what I want,
03:33and it's going to look just so.
03:35And in reality, it doesn't always match.
03:38Right, don't worry,
03:39because the reality today is going to be epic.
03:41So, first thing we're going to do
03:42is some decorations for the tree.
03:44I thought we'd go with an angel theme
03:46and do it a couple of different ways.
03:48Right?
03:49Now, here's my absent delivery.
03:51So, I've got some buttons,
03:53some little beads.
03:55Nice.
03:55Right?
03:56Twine, ribbon.
03:58Oh, and origami paper.
04:01Oh.
04:01Oh.
04:03Got everything we need.
04:04Right.
04:05OK.
04:06Cleaves up.
04:07Come on, Zala.
04:08I've got a bit of a vision.
04:09OK.
04:10I thought we could make a little angel,
04:12a little stack of buttons,
04:12and then we could use a bead for a head
04:16and a bit of twine to hang around the tree.
04:18Oh, lovely.
04:19Yeah.
04:20So, look, you've got some different sized buttons in here.
04:23Yeah.
04:23Right?
04:24So, start with the big ones,
04:26and then just getting smaller and smaller as we go on.
04:29Can you see?
04:30OK.
04:30See your vision now.
04:32Do you know what?
04:32I just thought it was something nice and simple.
04:34Yeah.
04:35Yeah.
04:35What do you do with the kids?
04:36And I've got so many spare buttons in the house,
04:38I don't know about you lot.
04:40Look, you're the queen.
04:41Look how quickly you did that.
04:42The queen of the button stack.
04:44Queen of the button stack.
04:45That's what it is, mate.
04:46Oh, that is so huge.
04:46So, something like that, right.
04:49Could I get a bead, please?
04:50Oh, you want a bead?
04:51Yes.
04:52This is a bead?
04:52This is a bead.
04:53Here's my bead selection.
04:55This is a bead.
04:55Oh, there's a nice big one.
04:57Oh, yes.
04:57Thank you very much.
04:58What I thought we'd do,
04:59if I cut us a little bit of twine,
05:01we could do the head first.
05:04If we make this little yellow button the halo,
05:08so it's going to hang on the tree like that.
05:10Yeah.
05:11So, we will thread them through the first couple.
05:13Ah, yes, see, there we go.
05:14Oh, and I thought we could use
05:16that nice silver button at the top, right?
05:18So, watch, I'm going to trim this off now
05:20and give that.
05:22And now we'll just go full-on gluing.
05:24Oh.
05:25Just to make life a bit easier.
05:27See, there's the top of our...
05:28Oh, stunning.
05:29Yeah, I want to do that.
05:30And then all we're going to do
05:31is just glue the buttons together.
05:33Which one is next?
05:34The clear one?
05:35So, what I'm doing,
05:35I'm now starting from the bottom.
05:37Stacking them up.
05:37And I'm just stacking them up
05:39and you can just go
05:40and just a bit of glue in the middle,
05:41just adding them one at a time.
05:43Oh.
05:44So, do you manage to get the lads crafting them, Rosie?
05:46I try to.
05:47It's harder to get the older one
05:49because he's ten now.
05:49But my youngest loves anything like this.
05:51How about yours?
05:52Do you know what?
05:53I look forward to when my children
05:56have projects.
05:57Yes.
05:58I'm like, give me a project.
05:59Oh, I've got a room dedicated to crafts, this is.
06:02Have you?
06:02You've got a craft journey.
06:03Well, it's...
06:04At the moment,
06:05it needs to be organised, reorganised.
06:07But this, I'm not being funny, girls,
06:09but ain't this beautiful?
06:11I'm proud of this.
06:12Well, that is so simple,
06:13anyone can do it.
06:14Definitely.
06:15Right?
06:15Do you not finish at all?
06:17Do you need some wings?
06:18Of course she does.
06:20Of course she does.
06:21How's she going to fly?
06:22Of course she does.
06:22Different types of ribbons.
06:24Now, let us watch you do a ball
06:26because I am shocking the ball.
06:28Right.
06:28Ooh, I love a ball.
06:29So, I'm going to show you something here.
06:31Okay.
06:32Do this for us.
06:33If I go round,
06:34cross,
06:36the piece at the top
06:37goes over
06:38and under,
06:40tie a knot.
06:42Wow.
06:42There's your little ball.
06:43Oh!
06:45Oh, sorry,
06:45do you mind?
06:50How big of a ball are we going?
06:52Do you mind?
06:52Do you mind?
06:54Oh!
06:54Medium.
06:55Medium.
06:56Right, look.
06:56A little bit further.
06:57Right, right.
06:57Round.
06:58Round.
06:59Do you want me to blow your socks off?
07:01Ooh.
07:02Always.
07:03Do you want a double ball?
07:04Yes.
07:05Double ball?
07:06So, if we go around and cross,
07:08I'm going to go around.
07:09Oh, fancy.
07:11And cross.
07:11Right.
07:12Yes.
07:13Under.
07:13Under.
07:14Over.
07:16Tie a knot.
07:17Now, your angel has got double wings.
07:19Oh, my gosh.
07:21Look.
07:21Oh, that is stunning.
07:23Look at that.
07:24Look at that.
07:24Look at that.
07:26The double bow.
07:27That now is a bit of me.
07:29Do you know what?
07:30There was a Christmas.
07:31I think it was two years ago.
07:32I just sat down and just made bows.
07:34And to the point where I had more bows than presents.
07:39And then I thought,
07:40what am I going to do with these bows?
07:41They were everywhere.
07:42You went to the bathroom.
07:43They were there.
07:44You went outside.
07:45They were there.
07:46They were everywhere.
07:47Go to store.
07:48Oh, she looks finished now, doesn't she?
07:51Oh, look at that.
07:53That is stunning.
07:54I cannot believe I made a little angel out of buttons.
07:58But for me, the double bow.
08:00Anybody who knows me knows that I love a bow.
08:01I love making bows.
08:03But the double bow?
08:07Game changer.
08:08Do you know what I would say?
08:09Cute as a button.
08:10Oh, very good.
08:13I absolutely love that button, Angel.
08:16I couldn't believe how well it turned out.
08:18I can genuinely see that hanging on the tree.
08:21So, that's one type of angel.
08:35Mm-hmm.
08:36I thought we'd try some paper angels now.
08:38So, I've got some origami paper.
08:39Now, origami paper is just paper, but it's nice and thin,
08:43so it's easy to fall.
08:44So, get a couple of sheets each, right?
08:47Now, I've got a little bit of a hack for you.
08:49You know, can you remember when you were kids and you made fans?
08:52Mm-hmm.
08:52Yes.
08:52You just went forward, backwards, forward, backwards, right?
08:54If you want your fan to be perfect, let's all do one together, right?
08:58Okay.
08:58So, get your first sheet.
09:00Mm-hmm.
09:00Just fold it in half, first of all.
09:03Fold it in half?
09:05Right.
09:06Then if you open it out, then fold it to the halfway point,
09:10and you've got that little bit of a crease line to line it up against, you see.
09:14Ah-ha.
09:15Yeah.
09:15Mm-hmm.
09:16And then the same on the other side.
09:21There.
09:21Yeah.
09:23Right.
09:23And then, open it up and go to that first crease line again.
09:27Ah-ha.
09:28So, it keeps you on track, doesn't it?
09:29And it just keeps you on track.
09:31Right.
09:32Now, that's good, isn't it?
09:33And now we've got the side.
09:34So, when I fold this one over now, if you fold that back on itself,
09:37then just go mountain, valley, mountain.
09:41There you go.
09:41I've got to fold that one back the other way.
09:43Okay.
09:43Right.
09:44Once you've got the crease line in one way...
09:45Then you can do it which way you want.
09:46Then you can take it whichever way you want.
09:48I get you.
09:49Okay.
09:49And it just means that your creases are all going to be even all the way along.
09:53Yes.
09:53Otherwise, I don't know about you, but every time I made one of them fans,
09:56I'd have a thick one, then a thin one, and then it wasn't even.
09:59And our angels are going to be perfect.
10:01Right.
10:02You know what?
10:03I can get the neighbours over and do this, you know?
10:05And it's a great way of just getting people together.
10:08And whether it's the family.
10:10So, I always have...
10:11Like, I have my mum and my sister come round every year.
10:13We do our wreaths together.
10:15Ah-ha.
10:15Oh, lovely.
10:16Christmas wreaths.
10:17They're like, you've got all the gear.
10:18Can we just come to your house?
10:20Instead of making a mess at our house.
10:22It's what they mean.
10:24It's not what they mean.
10:26Yes.
10:26See, I'm like that with food.
10:28I'm a feeder.
10:29All my friends come to my house because I feed all the kids.
10:32So, do you do Christmas dinner, then?
10:33So, I have done for the last, like, ten years.
10:37Who do you normally have?
10:38I often have my mum, sometimes my nana, sometimes my dad,
10:41sometimes my sister, my brother, but then they take turns,
10:44we take things with other people.
10:45Obviously, Chris has to come.
10:47And obviously, funnily enough, lives in the same house.
10:51Yeah.
10:52Sadly.
10:52And then the kids, yeah?
10:54So, it's just, I love it, though.
10:56I thoroughly enjoy making Christmas dinner.
10:59Last year, we had gingerbread men.
11:01I don't always get round to it.
11:03Can't you just make loads of angels?
11:05You keep bringing us.
11:07Well, I'll tell you what.
11:07I didn't even stop.
11:11Hearing is sharing.
11:12Hearing is sharing, babe.
11:14I've just remembered, it is supposed to be a competition
11:16between you.
11:17At the end of the day, I'm supposed to pick who's best at coffee.
11:20Do you want to have fun?
11:21No, it's all right.
11:24I can help you out, Hannah.
11:25Help you out.
11:26And our sons.
11:27Yeah.
11:28OK.
11:28So, that's, like, extra points.
11:30Mercy, Baku.
11:32Yes.
11:33Right.
11:33OK, I'll stop.
11:34Just need three.
11:35Oh, OK.
11:35I didn't need three.
11:36Right.
11:37Let me show you.
11:37I'm going to put my angel together.
11:39Yeah!
11:39And then you can't do it, right?
11:40So, I'm going to fold these in half.
11:44Just doing it by eye.
11:45Yep.
11:46So, they're just nice and even in half.
11:50This is so easy.
11:51It's unreal.
11:52Do it like that.
11:53So, all I'm going to do is, the first one, I'm going to stick a little bit of glue, you
11:58see, on there.
11:59See this?
12:00I love this.
12:00Bring it on.
12:01And then this is a tool, isn't it?
12:02Stick them together.
12:03OK.
12:04Right.
12:05So, there's that.
12:06You can see, that's going to be the bottom of our angel.
12:08See it already, yeah?
12:09Yeah.
12:09And then I've put glue on the next one.
12:12I'm just going to make our next level.
12:14Oh.
12:15Do I stick it together, then?
12:17Yeah, that's it.
12:18Right, G.
12:18Got it.
12:19Now, the third one.
12:21Oh, on the end, right there.
12:21OK.
12:22OK.
12:23Oh, do you know what we'll probably do?
12:24Use a bit of your glue gun in the middle there to hold your third one in place.
12:30Because you want a little bit of a gap between our wings, don't you?
12:34Like that, edge to edge?
12:35Yep.
12:36OK.
12:36So, she's got a skirt and then a body.
12:39Yeah?
12:39Do you know what?
12:40Are you modelling this on yourself?
12:43That took me to do it, couldn't I?
12:45Yeah.
12:45That's you.
12:46We're making a sour angel, is what we're sewing here.
12:48How's our angel?
12:49Does she just need a head now?
12:50Look, I've got some big, super, super beads.
12:54Ooh, wow.
12:55Yeah?
12:56Lovely.
12:57And so I was wondering if we could hang her up like this.
13:00Oh, yeah.
13:01Oh, hello.
13:02We'll have a bit of her.
13:04Yep.
13:05Give yourself a bit of twine.
13:07So, all I'm going to do is stick a little bit of hot glue in there, which holds all this
13:10in place.
13:12OK.
13:12Hey, she's going to be dead canny, isn't she?
13:14And have you stuck her head on?
13:16And then I've just stuck her head on the top.
13:17Oh, how's she looking?
13:19Oh.
13:20Oh, lush.
13:22They're lovely, aren't they?
13:24Really lovely.
13:25Look.
13:26Now, the folded paper angel, I absolutely adore.
13:29I've just bought some baubles for the tree and they've got origami paper on and I paid
13:34about £6 for this.
13:35I've got a bit of an entrepreneur's brain, so this time next year, maybe, maybe I'll be
13:40making baubles every day.
13:43Look at our little angels.
13:45Gorgeous.
13:45Oh, our tree's going to be looking lovely for us.
13:48Oh, yeah.
13:48Isn't it?
13:50I've learned so much so far.
13:52My children, yeah, when I get home, they're going to have lots to do.
13:55Yes.
13:56Christmas at my house will be very decorative.
13:59Yeah.
14:00We're going to be everywhere.
14:01Bows, angels.
14:03And who knows what's next?
14:05Come on, Rosie.
14:07Yes.
14:07That was a bit bad.
14:08Come on, Rosie.
14:09Yes.
14:09That's better.
14:11That's better.
14:11But we...
14:12LAUGHTER
14:12Right, so the next bit is all about getting the Christmas table ready.
14:39So we're going to get ours ready for our guests coming later.
14:42Of course.
14:42Right?
14:43Right.
14:43And do we like candles on the table?
14:46Oh, yeah.
14:46Yes, candle fans?
14:47Yeah.
14:48Yeah.
14:48We're going to do candles a couple of different ways.
14:50So for the first way, I've got some green candles.
14:53We're going to make them into Christmas trees.
14:54So I'm just putting them into some warm water.
14:57So just warm out the tap.
14:59What it'll do is it just...
15:00It doesn't melt the wax, it softens the wax.
15:03And then what we're going to do is we're going to take the candle
15:05and we're going to carve into the candle.
15:08So let me get you a candle and you can do a bit of Christmas carving
15:12of the candle instead of the turds.
15:14Wow.
15:14Right.
15:15Very good.
15:16Very good.
15:17So what I'm going to do is I'm just going to carve in a little bit
15:20and then lift it up.
15:23All right, okay.
15:24And then twist it and carve a little bit.
15:26And lift it up.
15:29That's it, that's it.
15:31I think when you do things like this,
15:33it does bring you back to when you were a child, isn't it?
15:37Mm-hmm, yeah.
15:37And making little things.
15:38And I think that's where I'm at now as well with my children.
15:42You know, I want them to learn different things
15:45that they can then hand down to their children.
15:48It really used to come because they're still young.
15:49Yeah.
15:50So do you do crafts the rest of the year?
15:52Then I'll just, Christmas or last?
15:53I try to do a bit, you know, like if it's like Valentine's,
15:57I do make the toast into a heart shape.
16:00Oh, yeah.
16:02That's what kids remember, though, isn't it?
16:04I like to think so.
16:05Yeah.
16:05I think that, you know, I don't know how mine is looking,
16:08so I'll, but...
16:09No, I think that's coming together well.
16:11Yes.
16:12Everybody's got the technique.
16:13What we've got your life.
16:14It just looked like a Christmas tree, didn't it?
16:16You know what, look at this.
16:17If you put them like this, bring yours over here.
16:20Yeah.
16:20You know what this is?
16:21What's this?
16:23It's a forest.
16:25Are you ready to try me next to her?
16:29Should we try painting some?
16:31Oh, I would love that.
16:32I want to do that.
16:32OK, so, with our white ones, we're going to paint them with something that you will both have at home.
16:38Crayons.
16:40Crayons?
16:40So crayons are made of wax?
16:43Yeah.
16:44Wax on wax?
16:45Wax on, wax off.
16:49Wax on, wax off.
16:50What we're going to use is some crayons.
16:52Get yourself a candle burner.
16:53All right.
16:54All right.
16:55Rich.
16:56And, oh, we can do a couple of different colours.
16:58We've got some different coloured crayons.
16:59So, what we're going to do...
17:00Do you put it in here?
17:01Yeah, but what we're going to do, it'll shave until it'll melt a lot faster than what it will if it's just a few big clumps.
17:08And then what I want you to do is try and keep your paintbrush.
17:11So, the trick is, see, the wax there, because it's in front of the heat, is nice and melted.
17:16If I sit like this chatting, oh, yeah, it'd be great.
17:20That's hardened already.
17:21Oh, yeah.
17:22Right?
17:22So, you want it nice and melty.
17:24And then you can paint and you can do...
17:27I mean, I'm going to do, like, a little Christmas tree here.
17:29And you can see, as soon as that wax is getting onto me candle, it's starting to harden already.
17:36My kids would love this.
17:38This is just...
17:39My kids, I'm going to do this with the boys.
17:41Again, it's a game changer.
17:43There will be no more.
17:44I'm bored, Mummy, in my house, let me tell you.
17:46No, not this Christmas.
17:48Not this Christmas, Babs.
17:49I'm having a lovely time.
17:51I've bought candles with, like, stuff, like, a posh one.
17:54Oh, you'll not be buying them again, will you not?
17:56Yeah, no, she'll be painting her own next time.
18:00So, what's your favourite memory of Christmas from when you were a kid?
18:04It wasn't the flash things, it was just the being together and...
18:07Yeah.
18:07And lovely little things.
18:08My mum used to put out little bowls of sweets, chocolates, all around the house during Christmas.
18:12Oh, yeah.
18:13Just things like that.
18:14That was a time that you could just eat lots of chocolates, biscuits, you know what I mean?
18:19It was never like, that's enough.
18:21No more.
18:22Stop it.
18:22Stop it.
18:23Leave some for...
18:23No, it was like, threefold.
18:25You get what you want to do.
18:26Yeah, it's Christmas.
18:28It's Christmas.
18:28Anything goes at Christmas.
18:29Exactly.
18:30Look at us.
18:31Look at that.
18:32Candle paint are extraordinary.
18:33Look at this.
18:34I'm so much more artistic than I thought.
18:37I didn't...
18:38I was terrible at drawing at school and you always kind of just doubt yourself and think
18:43that you're not very good, but I think I've done all right.
18:45Oh, they are so nice.
18:48But the thing is, as well, painted candle doesn't have to just be for Christmas.
18:52We've done little Christmas trees.
18:53You could do Valentine's ones.
18:54Yeah, that's right.
18:55Could you look at candles and paint some flowers on?
18:59Absolutely.
19:00I was very proud of my candles for my first attempt, but I think I can do better.
19:07I'm a bit of a pusher, you know, a bit of a competitive street, maybe, but I just wanted
19:12to look just so, you know.
19:14So now that I've got the skills, it's just up to me now to just have a candle or two in
19:19between scenes and just, you know, carve away and see what happens.
19:22Right.
19:23So we've got candles for our table, but that's just the start.
19:27Of course it is.
19:28Right, so we're going to do coasters, but we're going to do proper fancy coasters.
19:48Oh, I love it.
19:48Yeah, yeah, so what I've got is some cork, but it's adhesive-backed cork.
19:55So I thought we'll do the cork for the base of the coaster, so get your pen.
19:59Right, so all I'm doing is drawing around, and then we can cut it out, and that's going
20:05to form.
20:06See, that's a decent-sized coaster, isn't it?
20:07Oh, here you go.
20:08I have a very large glass of wine, so this is...
20:10Oh, so this is perfect, is it?
20:11So this is perfect.
20:12Yes, I like it, I like it.
20:14Okay.
20:15Just cut it out.
20:16Okay.
20:16Yeah.
20:17That's the thing, you want a nice, solid base for your coaster that's going to look really
20:21professional.
20:22Okay.
20:23Happy?
20:23Yeah, happy with that.
20:24Right, so as this is self-adhesive, if we peel the back off, we've now got this stickiness
20:32that we can put our gilding flakes on, so I'm going to put down my greaseproof paper,
20:37and then watch this, you see.
20:38I'm going to get a little bit of silver.
20:42And I'm actually going to mix me silver and me gold.
20:46Okay.
20:47All right, so different colours in here, silver and gold.
20:51Oh, that looks gorgeous.
20:52So if we rub these together now.
20:55Okay.
20:55Yes.
20:56Yeah, now you're talking.
20:57Now you're talking.
20:58Now you're talking.
20:59Right.
21:00Yeah.
21:00Decadent.
21:01Oh, and I give it a nice bit of a polish, isn't it?
21:05Oh, okay.
21:05It's nice and smooth.
21:07Right, okay.
21:08This, though, is just the bottom of our coaster.
21:11What I thought we'd do is something fancy for the top.
21:14Now, you know how you love that glue gun?
21:16Yes.
21:18Did you know?
21:19You can get fancy glue sticks for it.
21:22Like, this has got glitter in, and these are pearl.
21:25Oh.
21:26You see, the glitter, I knew the pearl.
21:27I did.
21:28That's gorgeous.
21:29So I've put you a pearl in your glue gun.
21:32Now, if you were just gluing things together, it would be wasted because you can't see it.
21:35Of course.
21:36But we're actually going to paint with the glue gun.
21:38Oh, nice.
21:39Right.
21:39So what I want you to do, you've got just a piece of white copier paper.
21:43Yes.
21:44And we need to design something to go on our base.
21:49So this is the size of our coaster.
21:51Yes.
21:51Yeah.
21:52And I'm going to draw a snowflake on it.
21:55Now, not too intricate, but if you draw a lovely snowflake on, our snowflakes like this.
22:04I think I've gone a bit rogue from what you said.
22:08Yeah?
22:08Are you happy with it, though?
22:09Yeah.
22:10Yeah?
22:11Yeah.
22:11Right.
22:12Can we have a look at them?
22:14Oh, yeah.
22:15Yeah.
22:16Right.
22:17So underneath.
22:19And now we're going to just paint with the glue gun.
22:24So tell us, Rosie, you've got a lovely singing voice.
22:26Oh, my gosh.
22:27Do you do much singing at Christmas?
22:29So I do a little Christmas carol concert every year with my friends.
22:35Yes.
22:35I'm part of an amateur dramatics singing society that I joined when I was 15.
22:41And I met all of my best friends there.
22:44And we put on shows in our local area every year.
22:48And we're doing a Christmas concert this year at the local church.
22:52Brilliant.
22:53Oh, lovely.
22:54And I just love it.
22:56And what's Chris like as a singer?
22:57Oh, terrible.
22:58Oh.
22:58Absolutely dreadful.
23:01He tries, though.
23:02He does try.
23:03God loves a tryer.
23:04God loves a tryer.
23:05God loves a tryer.
23:06How about you?
23:07How's your singing voice, Amiga?
23:08You know what's funny?
23:10I can sing if I'm in character.
23:12Oh.
23:12But I can't sing.
23:14Yeah.
23:14I've got to mimic somebody, you know?
23:17Yeah.
23:18Are you feeling it?
23:19Is it about ready, do you think?
23:20I think so.
23:22And you see, and then, look, this is just lifting off.
23:25Now, I'm going to just use my scissors and trim up some of them little threads.
23:29OK, so you don't want to make yours too thin because that's the one there.
23:33It's just going to get it off.
23:34Yeah.
23:34I've got to break it.
23:36You know, you'll be surprised.
23:37And also, we're going to stick it onto these.
23:39Yeah.
23:40Oh, my word!
23:42Oh, my God.
23:43OK.
23:44I see what you're doing.
23:45She says it.
23:46Oh, my God.
23:47I see the vision at first.
23:50Yeah, you see now, guys, the word.
23:53You can't be too thin on yours.
23:55Let's have a little look.
23:57I'm afraid if I'll take it off, it's going to...
24:00Oh, wow.
24:00OK.
24:01I've got to go for it, look.
24:02Wow, wow.
24:02You'll be scared.
24:03You won't be frightened of it.
24:04That's like, you know, when you rip off a floss, that's just like straight.
24:07I'm like, wow, so, so, ah.
24:09OK.
24:10OK.
24:11It's straight.
24:12It's glue.
24:12And then we're just going to stick them down on there.
24:15Ironically, we're going to use the glue to stick our glue down.
24:18Stick the glue down.
24:18OK.
24:19We only need some tiny little bits.
24:23Oh, hey, they look really good from where I'm sitting right.
24:26Don't they?
24:27They're looking really good.
24:28They're good.
24:29Wow.
24:31Oh, our guests are going to love these.
24:33When I offer up a tree of mimosas and they're all on their homemade coasters.
24:37Now, the coasters wasn't my best piece of crafting today, I have to say.
24:44You know, I think I was a little bit too mean with the glue gun.
24:48I was so sure.
24:49But I just think it's so good.
24:51It's very effective.
24:53How's that coaster looking rosy?
24:55Yeah, I'm happy with it.
24:56Oh, yes.
24:57Happy with that?
24:58Oh, I think it looks lovely.
25:00Not in a million years, did I think you can make a snowflake coaster out of a glue gun and a bit of trace and paper.
25:06Wild.
25:07See, we'll get that with our cup of tea on.
25:12Yeah.
25:13How good's that?
25:14Hello.
25:16Yes.
25:17Nice.
25:17Perfect.
25:18Christmas calls for some standout snacks, which in my book means a bit of festive food crafting.
25:39So, I'm going to make a little cheesy treat for Roti and Tamika.
25:43This looks brilliant.
25:45Ready-roar puff pastry.
25:48Now, I need this to be a circle and then trim around the edge.
25:58And we need two of those.
26:01Now, I've got my two circles and to make the snowflake, I'm going to sandwich in a bit of cranberry sauce.
26:10And then, that'll just sandwich between the other layer.
26:13And then, our cheese will just go perfectly in the middle.
26:21Now, I'm just cutting up to the cheese.
26:24So, when we serve this, we're going to have the melted cheese in the middle that we'll dip into.
26:29And then, we just take two and we're going to twist them outwards twice towards each other and back into place.
26:44Now, the problem I find every time I make this is all of my oven trays are smaller than the plate.
26:59So, the trick I've found is to get one of my big roasting dishes, but turn it upside down.
27:05And then, I've got my reusable baking sheets.
27:14And the egg washer just gives it, like, a lovely glaze.
27:17Now, I do these with chocolate spreading for the kids and they love them.
27:22It just goes down an absolute treat for a Christmas movie night.
27:26And you want your oven preheated to 200 degrees, and we're going to give it about 20 minutes.
27:36Oh, that is perfect.
27:38And then, we can get our brie, pop that in the middle, back in the oven, let that melt, and we're ready to serve it up.
27:45And then, a little bit of thyme on top.
27:54And that is my cheesy Christmas snowflake.
27:58And I think Tamika and Rosie will love that.
28:08Right.
28:09I've done a little part-time pick-me-up.
28:11Ooh, hello.
28:13All it is, is a little bit of cranberry sauce, puff pastry, dip it in the cheese.
28:19And pop it in your mouth.
28:21Look at you.
28:22I love cranberry.
28:24Ooh, it's lovely.
28:26No, I love this.
28:27You know what's going to happen now, innit?
28:28What?
28:29This is going to pop at my waistline.
28:31In that person, I'll move this out the way.
28:34Ah-ha.
28:35Right.
28:36Next thing, napkins.
28:38Yes.
28:39And I'm going to show you a couple of different ways that we can adorn the table with some festive napkins.
28:45Bring it on sour.
28:46Right, OK, get yourself a green one first.
28:48OK, OK.
28:49We'll do the Christmas trees first of all.
28:51This does feel like napkin agami.
28:53Right.
28:54And yes, that is a word I just made up.
28:57The neater you can fold it, the nicer your final tree will look.
29:01So, fold it in half.
29:04Right.
29:04Mm-hmm.
29:06Oh, yes, you two have got an eye for detail.
29:09Yes.
29:10Yeah, we're your best student, right?
29:12And in half again.
29:15Yes.
29:16Now, turn it on the diagonal so that all of the folded points are at the top.
29:21So you should have four loose ends at the bottom.
29:24Mm-hmm.
29:24Yeah.
29:24Yeah?
29:25Yes.
29:25And the point at the top.
29:26Yeah.
29:27You got me?
29:27Yeah.
29:27OK, so what we're going to do is we're going to fold the first one up and leave it about
29:31an inch from the top.
29:33All right.
29:33OK.
29:33Yes.
29:34And then the next one.
29:37And the next one.
29:38Yeah.
29:40And the last one.
29:41She's dying to go, aren't you, Rosie?
29:42I can say yes.
29:43I'm like, I can see where we're going with this.
29:45I'll carry it away.
29:46Right?
29:47Yes.
29:47Yeah.
29:48OK, flip it over.
29:51Now, this point, we're going to take up to the middle.
29:56Up.
29:56Is it this way?
29:57That's it.
29:58This way?
29:59Yep.
29:59OK.
30:00Like that?
30:01Yep.
30:01Mm-hmm.
30:02And then take your other one over.
30:06I need to get that one.
30:06You want the perfection.
30:08Oh, and that's nice.
30:09There.
30:10Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
30:12And then these just fold underneath like this.
30:16And it's starting to look like a Christmas tree.
30:19Oh, my gosh.
30:19It really is.
30:20Wow.
30:21OK.
30:21Am I through it?
30:22Yeah.
30:23Yeah, she's doing it right.
30:25I'm going into the forest, guys.
30:27I'm going into the forest.
30:33And you see your little stick just goes underneath.
30:36Do you know what also works really well?
30:39A cinnamon stick.
30:40Oh.
30:41A cinnamon stick.
30:42To help the aroma.
30:44Yes, the aroma.
30:45Oh, that is so easy to do.
30:47Isn't it?
30:48I love the Christmas tree napkin.
30:51That is going to look lovely any time of year, to be honest with you.
30:54Gorgeous.
30:55Imagine that with your place.
30:57Oh, I see what you're doing there.
30:58You're building it up, innit?
31:00You're building it up.
31:01We are scraping the table.
31:03Yes.
31:03Gap.
31:04It's stunning, that.
31:05Yes.
31:05That's the best thing you've done all day.
31:08I really excelled at the...
31:11I thought my angels were quite okay.
31:13Don't they?
31:14Yeah, okay.
31:16Anyway, thank you.
31:17All right.
31:17Back to you.
31:18Yeah?
31:19Back to you, Sarah.
31:21The tree napkin was so lovely.
31:24I think I've got nine people coming around for Christmas.
31:27I hope my guests will appreciate it.
31:34Right, put your trees to one side.
31:36Yes.
31:36We're going to do bores now.
31:39Oh, look.
31:40So, to make the bow, you need a napkin ring.
31:43Now, not everybody has napkin rings at home.
31:45So, I thought, let's make the napkin ring,
31:47and then we can do the bow with it.
31:49All right.
31:49Right.
31:50Uh-huh.
31:50So, I've got some wire.
31:52It's aluminium wire.
31:53So, it's very pliable.
31:55Right.
31:55You'll need three pieces, because we've got to plait it.
31:58Ooh.
32:00Three for Rosie.
32:02One, two.
32:04Right.
32:06We just kind of attach these three together at the top,
32:08so that they're all kind of coming together like this, right?
32:12It's just always coming from the outside to the middle,
32:15outside to the middle.
32:17It's already looking.
32:25This is already.
32:25Oh, she's feeling it.
32:27It's already.
32:27I'm feeling everything here, mate.
32:29Trust me.
32:30And do you know what?
32:31What is really lovely is that it goes with my nails.
32:34Oh.
32:35It's the same kind of goes.
32:36Oh, gorgeous.
32:37Right.
32:38Once we've got this, just going to wrap it round, something round.
32:41Oh, OK.
32:42So, I thought we'd just wrap it round the rolling pin.
32:45As you do.
32:46And you see, and then once you get to this stage,
32:48all I'm going to do is trim that.
32:51OK.
32:52So, this is enough?
32:53That's enough.
32:55Do you want me to cut it?
32:55Yeah, you please.
32:56Yeah.
32:56Oh, gorgeous.
33:03Wow, look at that.
33:04Nice.
33:04So good.
33:06Right, we're going to do our bows.
33:07OK, so, slightly different this time.
33:10We're going to fold it point to point.
33:13What we're trying to do is get the longest piece possible,
33:15so the diagonal is where it's going to be the longest.
33:18Bring your top point down to the middle.
33:22Mm-hmm.
33:22And then we're going to try and fold this into three, I would say.
33:26So, if we go like this.
33:28That's it.
33:29That's it.
33:31Yeah.
33:32OK, now, it's this easy, right?
33:34Put your hand in the middle.
33:36Mm-hmm.
33:36And we're going to come down and down.
33:40That should be easy to do, isn't it?
33:42Yeah.
33:42Take your hand out.
33:44And our napkin ring...
33:46Yeah.
33:46..just goes...
33:48Oh.
33:49..through to the middle.
33:50Nice.
33:51Oh.
33:52And we're straight through.
33:55And there you have it.
33:57We have...
34:00Yay!
34:00Beautiful.
34:05My napkin rings, let me tell you.
34:07Who would have thought that you could make them like that?
34:10Oh, my gosh.
34:12I might even just start wearing it as a bracelet.
34:14Do you know what I mean?
34:16There we go.
34:17Yay!
34:19Lovely.
34:19Wow.
34:21Lush.
34:21But I hope my boys will get into all of this.
34:24And I think they will love the napkin folding.
34:26It's so easy to do, but the results are really effective and they'll love that.
34:31Are you happy with how your table's shaping up?
34:33Yes, I am.
34:34You?
34:34OK.
34:34Oh, it's going to look gorgeous.
34:36So, we've got napkins, we've got coasters.
34:38It's not going to be complete without a cracker.
34:40Oh, of course.
34:41Yes.
34:42Of course.
34:43Crackers.
34:44We need a cracker.
34:44We need a cracker.
34:45Ready for an instant hit of Christmas spices?
34:58I'm about to make something that smells as magical as it tastes.
35:01So, I'm going to make the girls a lovely mulled wine syrup, which you can add to any warm red
35:09wine to get that beautiful Christmassy taste.
35:12Dead easy to make.
35:13What you're going to do is you're going to use any red wine.
35:16So, I've got 250 grams of sugar here and we're going to mix roughly one part liquid to one
35:23part sugar.
35:24So, while that's coming to the boil, I'm going to get all of my mulled flavours to infuse
35:29into it.
35:31So, I've got the lemon slices, a couple of star anise, a couple of cinnamon sticks, orange
35:39zest, a little handful of cloves, a teaspoon of nutmeg.
35:46And then a little splash of vanilla extract.
35:49And I'm just going to let that simmer away there for a good 10-15 minutes.
35:58Now, while that's simmering away, I thought we could decorate the bottle.
36:01I've got one of my orange slices dried out, a few cinnamon sticks and just a little bit
36:07of ribbon.
36:11I'm just going to come through the orange.
36:13And that is just going to tie tight.
36:20There we go.
36:22And I mean, it just looks Christmassy already, doesn't it, before we've even put the syrup
36:25in.
36:25It's been simmering for about 10 minutes and it just smells divine.
36:32So, all we need to do is strain all those bits out.
36:36Now, this is still quite warm.
36:45You could have left it to infuse with the spices overnight while it cooled, if you want.
36:49It would be even better.
36:50And then that is ready just to add to a warm glass of red wine.
36:57Oh, it's gorgeous.
37:05Oh, made us a treat.
37:07Wow.
37:08What is it?
37:09Well, I have to say, you two definitely strike me as being mulled wine lovers.
37:13I have a mulled wine.
37:15But firstly, we'll give you that impression.
37:18What do you mean?
37:19What do you mean?
37:20Well, it's mulled wine syrup.
37:23So, all you do is you add a little bit to your red wine.
37:25So, any red wine?
37:26Any red wine.
37:27Warm your wine up.
37:28Warm the wine up.
37:29Add your syrup.
37:30I mean, how do you put it in this?
37:30It's got nutmeg, cinnamon.
37:34Okay.
37:35Oh, look at that.
37:40Cheers, girls.
37:40Cheers.
37:41Cheers.
37:42Cheers.
37:42Merry Christmas.
37:43It's Christmas now, isn't it?
37:45It's cool.
37:46Mmm.
37:48That is nice.
37:50Oh.
37:51Something about warm.
37:53Yeah.
37:54Feel it going down your throat.
37:55Arrrr.
37:57Yeah.
37:58Well, the last thing I wanted to share with you.
38:00We're going to make our own Christmas crackers, but I thought we'd do them in the cheap way.
38:03Right.
38:04Using toilet rolls and wrapping paper.
38:08So, I'll show you my special hack.
38:10All right?
38:10Yeah.
38:11Which wrapping paper do you fancy?
38:12Go with the green one.
38:13You go with the green one.
38:14Yeah, go on.
38:15Cut some bits.
38:16Thank you very much.
38:16I'll have this one.
38:17Which one do you fancy, lovely?
38:19Ah, brrrr.
38:21This one.
38:21Right?
38:23Okay.
38:24Yeah.
38:24You just need enough to wrap around, and then we're going to change it at the ends.
38:29Okay.
38:30Have you seen how, like, when they're in a cracker shape,
38:33they've got cut-out bits towards the ends?
38:36Yeah.
38:37Yeah.
38:37Let me show you the hack way for how to do this.
38:39So, what we're going to do is, if I just imagine a line there and a line here,
38:45we're just going to fold up into a point like this.
38:49Right?
38:50That's it.
38:51Yeah.
38:52And then what we're going to do is cut some little Vs into that bit.
39:00Okay?
39:01About half an inch apart, roughly.
39:06Five, six along the side here.
39:10Great.
39:11Right?
39:11Yes.
39:12So, we should have it looking a bit like that.
39:14Oh, yes.
39:15See the bracket now.
39:16Now you can see.
39:17Yes.
39:18Right?
39:19Imagine you're placing your toilet roll inside, and then do the same at the other end.
39:24Okay.
39:25You want to leave a little bit more at the end.
39:27A bit more, a bit more.
39:29And then?
39:29That's it.
39:30That'll be lovely.
39:31Okay.
39:32Now, Rosie.
39:33Yes?
39:33Someone's got a new book out for Christmas.
39:35Oh, yes, we have.
39:37We've got another instalment of our kids' book.
39:41So, this time, it's called There's a Poon Army at Christmas.
39:44Right.
39:44And it's very much the same concept.
39:47Santa comes, the elves are there.
39:49My kids love it.
39:51And they think it's the funniest, because it's about poo.
39:53Of course it is about poo.
39:55I've got two boys, and they love anything to do with poo.
40:01Right.
40:01So, we're going to put this inside, and I've got your little glue tape pens.
40:07Oh, yes.
40:08This old friend.
40:09So, if you just go right down the edge like this.
40:14So, what I'm going to do now is, I'm just going to start rolling from the other end.
40:19All right.
40:20So, that when it all comes together, we can then finish it off.
40:26There you go.
40:27Nice.
40:27That's it.
40:28Okay.
40:29Roll it right up.
40:30Roll the edges.
40:31Yes.
40:32That's a lovely baker's twine.
40:34Wow.
40:35It's so cute, isn't it?
40:36It's just a wow.
40:38Are you feeling it?
40:40Loving it.
40:41Look.
40:41Right.
40:42Close one end of your cracker up, but then we need to fill it.
40:45Of course we do.
40:46Of course we do.
40:49We've got the snappers.
40:50Oh, yes.
40:51Oh, yes.
40:52So, you know you can just buy Christmas cracker snappers.
40:55Can you?
40:56You can buy just the snappers.
40:57You have to be over 25, though.
40:58Oh, so you might get ID'd when you go in, girls.
41:03And then every cracker needs a hat and a joke.
41:06Yes.
41:06Write down your joke.
41:07All right.
41:08Tell us, though.
41:09Okay.
41:09And we can read each other's Christmas jokes.
41:13Right.
41:13Okay.
41:13Um, oh, yeah.
41:15Okay, let's see.
41:20Right.
41:22Put it in, you cracker.
41:24Joke.
41:24Okay, here we go.
41:26You've got a hat.
41:27Now, if you've made any little handmade presents, you can put your handmade presents in.
41:31Oh, just in this little snowman with the presents.
41:36Oh, look.
41:37Oh, look.
41:37Oh, Sarah.
41:39This is such a great idea.
41:41Oh, it's just the same as how we made the angels.
41:44Yes.
41:44Yeah.
41:44Oh, that is lovely.
41:46So, I'm going to put that inside there.
41:47What?
41:47Oh, gorgeous.
41:49Oh, I love a homemade cracker.
41:51This is brilliant.
41:53Put decorative bits on there.
41:54Oh, yes.
41:55You've got some little stars and all sorts on.
41:57You put it on there as well?
41:57Yeah.
41:58Why not?
41:59Oh, Rosie's feeling this now, aren't you?
42:01Just love it.
42:02I can see.
42:04Oh, it's lovely.
42:06I did.
42:07Love it.
42:07And the sense of achievement that you get, that is really special, isn't it?
42:12I want them crackers round my Christmas table this year.
42:16Such a good idea.
42:18Look at that.
42:19I'm not being funny.
42:20That's good.
42:21That is beautiful.
42:22Even if I say so myself.
42:23I love it.
42:24You mean.
42:24As it's nearly Christmas and I want to see you jerks, should we pull them?
42:29Oh, yes.
42:30Yeah.
42:30Let's do it.
42:31Ready?
42:32Hold on.
42:33Yeah.
42:33Okay.
42:34Ready?
42:34One, two, three.
42:37Yay!
42:39You read that one then.
42:43What do you get when you cross a snowman with a vampire?
42:48Frostbite.
42:49Frostbite.
42:50Yes, what's my own way?
42:52Is that your one?
42:54The cracker jokes was good.
42:59To a point.
43:01What do you call a smelly Santa?
43:04Smelly Santa?
43:05I don't know.
43:06Part of Christmas?
43:10It's hard because I am married to a comedian.
43:13So if you didn't enjoy mine, then blame my husband, because that was his joke.
43:19What do you call a hot snowman?
43:23A hot snowman?
43:24I don't know.
43:25A bottle.
43:26LAUGHTER
43:27You two have just been an utter delight today.
43:33I know it was supposed to be a competition, and I know I was supposed to be choosing who
43:37was the best crafter.
43:38I just can't.
43:39Oh, well, that.
43:39You've just called me.
43:41Oh, look.
43:41Santa's little helpers.
43:42Yeah.
43:43High five.
43:44High five, my darling.
43:46Yes, yes.
43:46Right, come on, enough of that.
43:47Decorations to do.
43:48And now it's finally time to decorate for the party with everything our celebrity crafters
44:01have made.
44:04Oh, that's nice.
44:07My day has been brilliant.
44:11I've learnt so much in this one day about crafting that will stay with me for life.
44:18I was blown away by everything that I did today.
44:23I'm very proud of everything that I did today.
44:26I think Christmas round by mine will be very different to any Christmases before, actually.
44:32Oh, beautiful.
44:35Oh, I've had the best day.
44:37I've honestly thoroughly enjoyed it, and I feel like I've really found a love in crafting
44:42again because I haven't done it properly for so long.
