00:11But, of course, none of those things were more shocking than the big death of the night.

00:24We were so sure last week's shooting was not going to be deadly,

00:27but Shonda Rhimes, you got us again.

00:30Anyway, if you were anything like us, you were holding back tears during that final flashback scene between Cyrus,

00:35who was in the closet until then, and James at the inauguration.

00:47Apparently, Dan Bukatensky, who plays James, knew about his character's death back in January.

00:51Whoa.

00:52He told the news that he got the call from Shonda Rhimes and was shocked and sad,

00:56but, you know, grateful for the opportunity.

00:58He told E!

00:59I went through all the stages of grief, denial, bargaining, and finally acceptance.

01:03It was very, very hard.

01:05Also, getting an Emmy for his role as James, well, that probably didn't hurt either.

01:09As for the rest of the cast, Dan says they were very sad to lose a part of their Scandal fans,
