00:05we're actually pretty able to come forward, wanted to come forward.
00:09I don't think it's one or the other. I've obviously spent a lot of time when I was chief prosecutor
00:14dealing with those that have already been arrested and being put through our criminal courts.
00:19And yes, we need to improve that service and the protection that goes in for victims and survivors.
00:24But I've also been absolutely determined that we get in on the preventative bit.
00:28And that's why it's really important to be here at the school, seeing young people go through relationship discussions.
00:36We've seen teenagers having quite open discussions about what is a healthy relationship, what is not a healthy relationship.
00:43Because in the end, we have to do the preventative bit as well.
00:46And I'm really conscious that, and I saw this for myself, the age at which individuals are in abusive relationships sometimes
00:57or being abused or subjected to violence is going down, not up.
01:01And therefore, yes, I want to strengthen what we do when we actually are able to prosecute cases.
01:06But I absolutely want to get in at the very early stage, protecting children who may be being exposed to abuse,
01:14maybe in their own household, but also just that discussion about a healthy relationship, boys and girls,
01:19but particularly boys, teenage boys, I think it is vitally important.
