43:43feel free to ignore my sob story and go straight to the bar
43:47but for those of you who don't know it
43:50here's the short version
43:53my parents were both junior hockey coaches
43:56and they were hit by a drunk driver when i was 12 years old
44:01mercifully for them they died instantly
44:04mercifully for me
44:07the saint thomas scholarships existed
44:10i didn't have anybody else to help me
44:15i had a lot of memories
44:17a love of hockey
44:19and a huge hole in my heart
44:21saint thomas filled it with hope
44:24the hope of a new family
44:26things things weren't always easy
44:30you know they never are for anybody but
44:33in hockey i found what i was missing
44:36first at my high school then later at college and now here with the animals
44:42and i never looked back
44:43and i never looked back
44:45because i never had to
44:49the family i craved the family that i needed
44:53that i still need today
44:56hockey gave it to me
44:58and saint thomas gave me hockey
45:00so from the bottom of my heart i want to thank you all for being here tonight
45:06and for supporting this cause because it's not just a scholarship it's
45:11it's everything that comes with it it's a whole world a whole life
