00:04The Central African Republic is seeking to make its upcoming elections safer

00:08and has deployed reinforcements from its army to the Vakaga region.

00:13The armed forces are supported by the UN peacekeeping mission MINUSCA,

00:17which provided air support for the troops.

00:20The Central African Republic is set to host presidential,

00:23parliamentary and even municipal elections on 28th of December.

00:28But concerns over the highly expected vote are numerous.

00:32Human rights organisations like Human Rights Watch have notably voiced worries

00:37about the democratic credibility of the elections.

00:40And doubts have also been raised regarding the organisational capacities

00:44of the country's National Election Authority.

00:47It is unclear whether polling stations in all regions will be able to open in time for the elections.

00:53As voter lists are currently incomplete,

00:56material for running the stations is still missing,

00:59and staff are ill-trained.
