00:00At only 12 and a half hands tall, 15-year-old Polly is smaller than your average pony.
00:10Good little pony, aren't you lovely?
00:13But she has an enormous heart and perhaps an even bigger appetite.
00:19Anybody that's got a carrot, she's there.
00:22So no, she's happy to wander in. She just seems to know what they want and what they need.
00:28The owner was encouraged to bring Polly to Sale Garden's care community after hearing organisers were looking for new ways to connect with residents.
00:37They jumped at the chance and we've brought her along and she just brought such joy to the residents.
00:43Polly's visits bring warmth to everyone.
00:46Polly connected with her, we were shocked, she put her head down in her lap and closed her eyes and stayed there for about 5 or 10 minutes and the lady was completely calm.
00:55Particularly being in a rural area, it means so much to them.
00:59A lot of them have grown up on farms and I've always had horses or animals in their lives.
01:04So it's great to be able to have Polly in the home.
01:06She's very bright and she's lovely.
01:10What was a once off visit has now become an ongoing arrangement with Polly's visits here being a firm favourite.
01:18Her owners and the carers here at Sale Gardens are now encouraging others to think of ways to connect with their aged care community and find ways of enriching their lives.
