00:00A South Korean court has sentenced three people for leaking design secrets to Taiwan for its
00:05domestic submarine, the Haikun. The three were hired to build the vessel's torpedo launch system.
00:11They were convicted of disclosing information to Taiwan about it. One, a chief executive,
00:16was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. The other two, employees of a different firm,
00:21were handed one and a half year sentences. The court said the case could be a major diplomatic
00:26burden for South Korea and a threat to the country's security. The submarine's maker,
00:31CSBC Corp., has not commented publicly on the sentence. But in June, it said the Haikun
00:37was an entirely original design and did not use leaked foreign technology or data.
