00:00So when will you throw a wedding for Masume?
00:22The groom's in a hurry to marry her, you know.
00:25These things cost money, Rahim.
00:29All I can do is pin my hopes on the net and the sea. Pray that we catch some fish with caviar.
00:35Well, who knows? Maybe we'll catch a fish with 20 pounds of caviar very soon.
00:41Don't hold your breath, Rahim.
00:59Let's go.
01:01Let's go.
01:05I have to go to the field again.
01:15There's going to be a meeting about the water distribution.
01:31I have to go to the field again. There's going to be a meeting about the water distribution.
01:45Masume, my darling, put this over there for me.
01:49Okay.
01:50Thanks a bunch.
01:52Good for you, Golo.
02:04And what makes you say that?
02:06Good for you, Masume.
02:08I'm really serious, you know.
02:10Don't get upset with me.
02:12I'm not jealous at all.
02:15I mean, I'd never be jealous of you.
02:19But I can't help it.
02:22Well, the truth is that you always remind me of my troubles.
02:26That's not nice.
02:28You mean I'm all trouble now?
02:31Not at all.
02:33I see how happy you are and I feel sorry for myself.
02:38Unhappy?
02:40Of course you are.
02:41What else do you want?
02:43You have a nice house.
02:45You have a brother who's well off.
02:48Your dad buys you whatever you want.
02:53Doesn't your dad do everything he can for you, Masume?
02:55Of course he does.
02:57The poor man has put his life at stake for us.
03:01But what else can he do?
03:02He doesn't earn much.
03:05As far as I can remember, he's worked so hard for us all his life.
03:09He's out there in the sea no matter what.
03:13What can I possibly expect from him?
03:17I'm content with my life right now.
03:20But you see, I can't help it.
03:24I get upset when I see you.
03:28You have it all.
03:31You're Mash Reza's only daughter.
03:36Aren't you Shamsula's only daughter too?
03:40Forget about these things, Masume.
03:42Any news from Fahad?
03:43He'll finish his military service in two months.
03:47His family insists that we get married soon.
03:50Then congratulations to you.
03:53Forget it, Kolrok.
03:55Let's go.
03:56Let's go and have a nice cup of tea together.
03:58Come on.
03:59Why not?
04:00Why not?
04:06Masume, darling, could you please pass me my books?
04:12Thanks a lot.
04:13I need to have a word with you, Morteza.
04:23What's the deal?
04:25I'll do whatever you want me to do.
04:27I'll scare off all the bullies in school for you so they go up in smoke when they see you.
04:32What do you want from me?
04:34I want you to swap your paper with me when we have the math test.
04:38Just remember not to write your name on it.
04:40I can't.
04:41Sure you can.
04:42I'll ask some of the guys to sit around you and I'll sit right beside you.
04:46Just when we're going to swap papers, one of them will fall on the floor and start yelling.
04:51That's when we'll spring into action.
04:53What if the teacher sees us?
04:54He won't.
04:56Do it for me, Morteza.
04:58I'm doing it for my cousin's sake.
05:00You know.
05:03Do you know what an apple stands for?
05:05Nope.
05:06Shame.
05:08Hang around and you'll soon find out.
05:09I have to go.
05:11I said hang around so do as you're told.
05:24This way, we have to take a shortcut.
05:39He's coming.
05:43He's coming.
05:44No!
05:45No!
05:46No!
05:47No!
05:48No!
05:49No!
06:02No!
06:03No!
06:04No!
06:05No!
06:06No!
06:07Oh dear!
06:08You tricked me!
06:09Let go of my collar!
06:10Or else.
06:11Or else not!
06:12At least I do my best to study, but you just bum around, you s-
06:42Do you need any help, Moustapha?
06:46It's Morteza, not Moustapha.
06:52Could you just go, please?
06:56Let's go, girls.
07:12Fortunately, there's plenty of water to go around, thank God. You'll be fine this year.
07:17It's not just about this year. Now that we have plenty, let's do something about our share of the water.
07:23Last year we didn't have enough water. Who knows? Maybe we'll face a drought next year.
07:27It's always been like this. I don't meddle with nature. Do I?
07:32You're right. But there are 40 of us and you're just one. You can't have an equal share with us.
07:37All of us here have one share and then you have the rest?
07:39But I have more fields. The water supply fluctuates every year. It's been like this for 50 years.
07:46Those were the days of rich landlords and landless laborers.
07:49So what? Mind your own business. You don't even have a speck of land, so stay out of it.
07:54How much land does a man want when he's dead? Now why are you being so greedy?
08:00I'm trying to contain myself here. Is he trying to bully me into all this?
08:04Watch your mouth, man. Calm down, Shamsala.
08:06I know I'm sick, but I still have my pride and dignity. But you're just at the bottom of the heap.
08:12You still think we're peasants and you own us?
08:15Come on, relax.
08:15I'll teach him a lesson.
08:17Hey, please, come on.
08:18Hey, stop it.
08:19Come on, relax.
08:19Hey, you two, shut it out.
08:21What are you doing?
08:22Come on, Albert. What happened to you?
08:24Get him a glass of water.
08:26You all right?
08:27Is he okay?
08:28Help him get up.
08:29What's wrong?
08:40Nothing.
08:42You want something.
08:45Am I right?
08:47Davud keeps pestering me, Dad. He's always looking for an excuse to fight with me.
08:51Once you stand up for yourself, they'll back off.
08:59You mean I should fight with him?
09:01Don't fight. Just defend yourself. A real counterattack.
09:07Back in the old days, me and Mashreza were on bad terms with each other, just like you two.
09:13One day, I hit him in the face with my head. Right in front of everyone.
09:16But the poor man's ill.
09:18He was really mean those days.
09:20Is that why you won't pay him a visit?
09:22You saw what happened, didn't you?
09:24He stood against me from the start.
09:26He's willing to sell half of his fields to anyone but me.
09:29I'd do the same if I were him.
09:35He punched me a dozen times, but I never said a word.
09:39He still thinks he owns us.
09:42He made his fortune back in those days.
09:46Hello, Shamsala.
10:00Hello there.
10:03Hello.
10:04Hello.
10:06How are you, Cheirola?
10:08Eh?
10:09Any better?
10:11I said any better.
10:12He's fine. He's even better than me.
10:14I hope so.
10:17Thanks for coming, Shamsala.
10:19You're too kind.
10:21Don't mention it.
10:24You have gas, Shamsala?
10:25Shamsala?
10:37Well, Shamsala, Barhad's military service will be over in two months.
10:41Two years passed in a wink.
10:49Life is both short at the same time, long.
10:53Sometimes time flies, other times it lingers on forever.
10:58Just like Farhad's dad.
11:01May his soul rest in peace.
11:03We've had a long life.
11:05Who says life is short?
11:06Hello.
11:16Hello.
11:16Hello.
11:17Hello, my darling.
11:20How are you, dear?
11:22I'm fine.
11:26So how are you doing, Masume?
11:28I'm fine.
11:30How was Zabol?
11:32Everything's fine.
11:33We're on the border.
11:34There are too many clashes there.
11:37The snugglers keep doing what they're doing.
11:39Last week, I was caught up in the fight, and a bullet passed right by the side of my ear and hit a stone.
11:44The stone broke in half.
11:46It's over now.
11:48Let's talk about the wedding.
11:50Excuse me?
11:51Sit down, Masume.
11:52Sit down, Masume.
12:06Please, sit down.
14:38Let's go and get ready.
14:39I want to get to the market.
14:40Go on.
14:41Right now?
14:42The sooner the better.
14:44The money kept will soon be spent.
14:45Go on.
14:46Did you hear me, darling?
14:57Go on.
14:59Go on.
