00:00The final act is a combination of needs.

00:05We needed a ticking clock, a geographical environment

00:10that created that tension.

00:12This particular ending is just the tip of the iceberg.

00:20It was very intense.

00:21Andy and Bill are very good friends,

00:30a bit of cosmic twin situation.

00:37It's important for me and for Bill,

00:39especially to find new things about the character every time.

00:43Pennywise is always trying to lure a child into some game,

00:48or he seems very charming,

00:49and then he twists his behavior into something dark.

00:53Every time we say...

01:00The Deadlights, they're described as variously

01:03the true form of Pennywise.

01:05The Deadlights are an interdimensional entity,

01:08and if a human looks at them,

01:10it's just too much for the human brain to comprehend.

01:20How can it have taken all of them?

01:22How?

01:27The final confrontation with all the kids and the clown fighting back,

01:31that is a titanic fight that has so many details,

01:35and it happens in an environment that is so vertical and so big.

01:39I wanted to illustrate the influence of it.

01:45That's why we created the fog.

01:47It's not only walking towards the open gate,

01:50but also like a fog expanding just a little bit ahead of him.

01:56Filming on the Pimscott River was actually really, really fun.

02:01It was a lot of fog,

02:04and also it was really cool watching all the kids like float.

02:13Well, look who decided to join the circus.

02:19There is so much snow flowing in our hair

02:22and getting in our eyes,

02:23and the fog is crazy,

02:25and some parts of the floor are slippery,

02:28so we like to just, like, slide.

02:31Let's go with the dagger!

02:36The dagger is this iconic element.

02:38It's the charm that our heroes use to reseal the cage.

02:43We needed an iconic landmark

02:45to mark very clearly what is the point of no return.

02:50We created this geography

02:51in which it's marked by the Pimscott River,

02:54and at the other end of the shore there's a tree.

02:59The dagger, basically the object that finally saves the day.

03:04But will they get there in time?

03:07Dad! Dad!

03:09Take the dagger.

03:10Take it to the tree.

03:12Joe is one of these dark characters.

03:16He believes that people can be controlled by fear.

03:21This is a story about the weaponization of fear.

03:24You're free.

03:26You're free to go.

03:28At the end, because Pennywise doesn't discern much,

03:31it has an animalistic side to it.

03:33Also, his path to freedom is already granted,

03:36so he eats his liberator.

03:39I never forget a smell.

03:42Stop.

03:45You stay back!

03:49No!

03:51When Rose sees Tanyl's fate,

03:55when I heard that first gut-curdling scream from Kimberly,

03:58I just felt so emotional.

04:00It was so intense because that moment on the frozen river

04:06is a make or break for the entire future of humanity.

04:10The level of intensity that had to be maintained,

04:14I don't think I've ever experienced something that was ongoing like this.

04:20There's not only Pennywise that is about to cross the line,

04:24but also the dagger that will stop him from crossing the line.

04:28He wants to go back, so it's basically pushing you back to where it belongs.

04:32The pushing the dagger part took so long.

04:35And it was very tiring,

04:38because in some shots they had this rig,

04:40where we actually could push as hard as we can.

04:42There's a whole range of obstacles and adversity in that final act.

04:53Having a little bit of trouble, are we?

04:55Keep tugging that thing and it just might pop!

04:59So long, Lucy!

05:00Richie comes back as a ghost, and he runs, he slides, and then he helps his friends.

05:20For Halloran to see the ghost of this sweet kid

05:22who sacrificed his own life for someone else,

05:24to actually be the final thing that helps the kids

05:27push the creature back into its cage.

05:30That was a very healing thing for Dick,

05:31and we wanted to give Dick that closure.

05:37The victory in this season is that they sealed the cage.

05:42There's the promise that he's back in the cage and he will not go out.

05:46He's still alive, as we know from watching the movies.

05:50I would like for both of you to join us.

05:54Make sure that your old friends, or anybody else for that matter,

05:56never tries to reopen that cage.

05:59I think the reason why Rose passes the torch of this duty to protect this town

06:03is because she knows that Leroy and Charlotte have a strong sense of duty.

06:08This isn't the end of the story.

06:10For us, it was very important that the Hanlons stay in town

06:13because eventually we meet Mike Hanlon, who is the first person we see in IT Chapter 1.

06:24Mike with his grandfather Leroy, who is now a sheep farmer.

06:31What was very important for us was not only to link Welcome to Dairy to the movies,

06:38but show some of the bloodlines.

06:41Marge is Richie's mom.

06:44These kids will give birth to the kids that end up killing Pennywise.

06:52There's a scene in the epilogue of season finale, which Marge and Lily are talking,

06:58and there's a very interesting speculation that maybe IT experiences time in a different way.

07:04He said, to him, the past, present, and future are all the same,

07:10and that his death was actually his birth.

07:15Maybe IT is not going forward.

07:17In this case, maybe IT can go back,

07:20which opens a window of speculation.

07:24There's a lot of mythology to be unveiled,

07:26but one thing we know is that IT is an evil deity that was punished and was sent to Earth.

07:50Oh dear, don't be sad.

07:52You know what they say about Dairy.

07:57No one who dies here ever really dies.

08:01Oh, what have you done through my heart?

08:22No one who dies here in the new house is dressed in a smoothness,

08:32because there are no several rhythms in warm quantities because it's the same.

08:34But they come.

08:35It's another one who does this for those somit away.

08:37Using a little donut sharing and it sucks the same vibe.

08:42Probably a little wouldn't stick quite to it so the whole problem.

08:45But when they have more,

08:47you don't have to wait so much for those who don't see it.
