00:00You did not stay up till 3 a.m. last night watching it because you got to watch it in the presence of Taylor Swift.
00:04I did indeed.
00:05It has been.
00:06First of all, thank you so much for having me back.
00:08I love that my personal brand is this strong.
00:11It's so strong.
00:13Yeah.
00:14So the plan was to stay up till 3 a.m. and watch the two new episodes until I got a confirmation email at about 7 a.m. Tuesday morning for an intimate screening.
00:25Oh, my gosh.
00:26So it was not sort of publicized that Taylor was going to be there.
00:30It was just advanced screening, which was good enough for me.
00:33I was like, this is great.
00:34This is going to help me prep stories for Friday.
00:36Excited.
00:37I get there and the first three rows are reserved of the theater.
00:44And the first, obviously, Early Bird was there like fourth row, dead center.
00:49Of course.
00:49The second check-in opened.
00:50And I see all of her tour crew come in, her dancers, her backup singers, her styling team, her choreographers.
01:00And they sit.
01:02And what was really cute is they had like packs of tissues at each of their seats.
01:05So I was like, oh, boy, we're in for like a tearjerker.
01:08Oh, my God.
01:09Wow.
01:09So they all get there.
01:12They're chatting.
01:13A few minutes pass.
01:14Then Scott and Andrea Swift and Austin, her parents and brother, stroll in.
01:21And I'm like, oh, okay.
01:22So this is like personal.
01:24Yeah.
01:26Everyone was seated.
01:28The screening was right about to start and Taylor walks in.
01:30Did everyone scream?
01:31Yes.
01:32Oh, my God.
01:32Wow.
01:33You can imagine the reception she got.
01:35What was going through your mind until I walked in?
01:38I simply couldn't speak.
01:39They had obviously, it being like a top secret screening, had taken our phones.
01:42Oh, yes.
01:43So really what I was thinking at the moment was no one's ever going to believe this happened.
01:48Oh, yeah.
01:50And as my husband told me as I left the house, he said, take pictures and videos in your mind.
01:55Oh, my God.
01:56Which I was, you know, content to do.
01:58She gave opening remarks.
02:00She talked about, like, she called the Heiress tour a lifetime within my life.
02:03And she spoke about how the docuseries, like, spotlighted her crew, not just herself.
02:10Like, it was very clear that, like, the screening was for the crew, mostly.
02:13Oh, I love that.
02:14Really sweet.
02:15That's very sweet.
02:17I was right, literally, directly behind Jan, the dancer.
02:20Oh, my God.
02:20He's so hot.
02:21On Dancing with the Stars.
02:22Yes.
02:22Yes.
02:23Newly minted Dancing with the Stars.
02:24He's so hot.
02:25Did he look good in person?
02:26He is so hot.
02:27Yeah.
02:28I was like, Taylor, I'm so friendly.
02:29Like, if I saw him, I would be looking at him more than Taylor.
02:31And I'm sorry, girl.
02:32Yes.
02:32Like, he's really captivating.
02:34She gave these opening remarks.
02:36Then she went and she sat with her dancers, stayed for the whole screening.
02:42There were many tears shed.
02:44Oh.
02:45Which we'll get to.
02:46You watched the first two episodes?
02:47First two episodes.
02:47Okay.
02:48So it was, like, back to back.
02:49Back to back, exactly.
02:49Wow.
02:50And how long are the episodes?
02:51They're, like, it's hard to tell because there were no clocks or phones.
02:57Yeah.
02:57No commercials also.
02:58I think they're, like, 30 to 45 minutes each.
03:01Oh.
03:01That's what it felt like.
03:02Oh, okay.
03:02Taylor, thank you.
03:03Yeah, exactly.
03:03Yeah.
03:04Exactly.
03:04Like, pretty short and sweet.
03:06Okay.
03:06But, like, still, like, meaty.
03:08Mm-hmm.
03:08Um, the screening ends and, like, I'm expecting her to book it out of the venue.
03:13Yeah.
03:13But she, she thanks us all for coming and she says, um, I'm not going anywhere, so if you
03:18guys want to chat, like, I'll be right outside.
03:20Oh, my God.
03:21Oh.
03:21I'll be right outside.
03:23And she stayed and she greeted and spoke with every single person.
03:26And how many people were there?
03:28The whole screening, maybe, like, a hundred.
03:32Oh, my God.
03:32It was included, like, a few media, media group was small, like, Robin Roberts was there,
03:36Hoda.
03:37Wait, you were in good company a lot.
03:39Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:40What?
03:41No, I can't, I, guys.
03:42Wait, that's amazing.
03:44I haven't recovered.
03:45Hoda was there, Robin, um, Gayle King.
03:48What?
03:49Yeah.
03:49Yeah, yeah.
03:50So it was, like, it was, like, big people.
03:51The squad.
03:52Yeah, the squad.
03:53The squad.
03:53Um, and then, you know, some folks from Disney ABC because it was at their studios.
03:59Wait, I know, it's so funny.
04:00My friend works at Disney Plus and she was, like, and none of us were believing her.
04:05She's, like, a lot of curtains are up.
04:06I think Taylor Swift, she was, like, okay, ma'am.
04:08Let's get you to bed, babe.
04:09Sure, Jan.
04:10Yeah, yeah, Taylor Swift's at Disney doing a meeting on marketing at 10 a.m. or whatever.
04:14Yeah.
04:14So these first two episodes, what do they cover?
04:17Because I feel like there's a lot of ground to cover when it comes to the Heiress tour.
04:20It was a long tour.
04:21Yes.
04:22A lot went into it.
04:22Two years, almost.
04:23Yeah.
04:23Oh, my gosh.
04:24Wow.
04:24Yeah, so it's, um, it's more about, I think, people who are going and expecting,
04:30like, big revelations about her personal life might be disappointed, but there's a
04:34lot on the mechanics and the prep involved in staging this massive monumental tour.
04:38Which is interesting.
04:39Which is super interesting.
04:40Especially after she did the New Heights.
04:42Like, we got a lot of personal life.
04:44Right.
04:44I'm like, what?
04:44Yeah.
04:45That was the personal day to die.
04:46And I feel she's kind of like, I'm still happy and in love.
04:48Like, I don't know.
04:49Exactly.
04:49One of the big, big headlines from this, uh, docuseries is that it's kind of the first
04:55time she's spoken about what happened in Vienna and also Southport.
04:58Yeah.
04:58Because those two incidents were, like, I think within a week or two.
05:02And what happened?
05:03They were, it was like a terrorist threat?
05:05Yeah.
05:05So Vienna was a terrorist threat.
05:08Um, she had to cancel all three shows.
05:10Oh, yeah.
05:10In Austria.
05:12Which was super sad.
05:13But luckily, like.
05:14Everyone lived.
05:14She says, yeah, she says in the doc, she's like, we dodged a massacre situation and that's
05:18what's important.
05:19Um, and then, like, a week or two before in Southport, there was a, um, fatal stabbing.
05:25I think three young girls were killed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.
05:29Oh, I, yes.
05:30And she, you see her, like, speak about it and she can barely get through her words.
05:35She's sobbing.
05:36Yeah.
05:36Um, and it shows her meeting the families backstage of the victims and, like, trying to pull herself
05:41together.
05:42Yeah.
05:42Um, God.
05:43So you get these really intimate emotional moments.
05:47So those tissues were necessary.
05:48The tissues were necessary.
05:50There was a lot of sniffling going on around.
05:52And also to show which, like, you hate that it is how it is, but also because I know, like,
05:59when Ariana Grande spoke about the awful thing that happened with Manchester 2 where the guilt
06:03that these stars have, even though it's not their fault, but they're, like, because of
06:07me type of situation, which I'm sure is just such a complex mental game that they are
06:13dealing with.
06:14She talks about how being on stage, returning to stage after these horrible events is, like,
06:20you have to be stoic.
06:21You have to lock in.
06:22It's like a pilot flying a plane and you cannot freak out your passengers.
06:26You just have to go on with the show and, like, make sure everyone's safe.
06:29I think my personal favorite part of the first two episodes was it shows the lengths that
06:35she went to to add tortured poets to the set list in between.
06:40So, basically, there was the first one or two legs of the tour.
06:44She played a few shows in Singapore and then there was a two-month break before she was
06:49going to pick up in Paris.
06:51And instead of taking that break, prolific little hard worker that she is, she was like,
06:57you know what?
06:57We're going to add seven songs to the set list.
07:00Everyone's going to learn them.
07:01Did she remove any to add seven?
07:03Or did she?
07:03She, yes.
07:05She condensed Folklore and Evermore into one section and had to cut some songs.
07:11Oh, interesting.
07:12Okay.
07:12Yeah.
07:12Do you think we're going to learn why she only included Enchanted from the Speak Now era?
07:18Because I need-
07:19Speak Now super fan.
07:20I do love myself from Speak Now.
07:21I love Speak Now.
07:22That's my era.
07:23That was the album that made me fall in love with Taylor, so I feel that.
07:26Sparks fly.
07:27I know.
07:27It's so-
07:28It's so good.
07:29Maybe we'll get it in, like, episodes three through six.
07:31Oh, yeah.
