Transcript
00:00I mean, let's be honest, you probably guessed where we're gonna do something like this, yeah?
00:04I would like to take this opportunity to send a massive, massive thank you to the Lego group
00:11who have partnered with us on this video. Gosh, I wonder what's in this box.
00:20I am standing up right now. Look at the size of this thing. Just to give you an idea of scale.
00:26No, sorry, just to be more accurate. Right, there's the bottom. But still, like, this big.
00:32This... thing, which now won't come out of the box yet.
00:35Shall I give you a little teaser?
00:37Oh, oh.
00:42Oh, wow. Wow. Wow. Wow.
00:46I mean, it's only the Enterprise NCC-1701D.
00:52We've been waiting for this for a while.
00:54And I tell you what, from the 28th of November, you will be able to pick up your own one of these.
01:03The Lego Group will be releasing this on the 28th of November.
01:06You will be able to pick it up at any Lego store or on lego.com.
01:12Look at it.
01:14The side.
01:17There it is.
01:19Other side.
01:20Now, this is interesting because, look, it's got the Star Trek 60 logo on it.
01:24Because, in part, this is being released when it is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the franchise, which, of course, first aired on September the 8th, 1966 on U.S. television.
01:35It is the 60th anniversary of the airing of The Man Trap.
01:39It had aired a couple of days earlier on the Canadian network as well.
01:43So, Canada got in there first.
01:45And the Lego Group have finally been able to produce this.
01:50And I think, as well, before anything else, I mean, based on the pictures, was a good shout to start with this one.
01:57Look!
01:58It comes with a crew!
02:00We have got Wesley Crusher with his little repulsor beam that was in the episode The Naked Now.
02:07We have Guinan with a glass of something that is green.
02:15We have Data, who comes with a little spot figurine.
02:19Worf there with his sort of pre-Season 6, Season 7 hair.
02:24So, nice shoulder-length bob there.
02:26Captain Jean-Luc Picard with a cup of tea.
02:30Earl Grey.
02:31Hot.
02:31Counsellor Lieutenant Commander, because this seems to be a little bit earlier on.
02:35Deanna Troy.
02:36William T. Riker with a trombone.
02:39We have Geordi LaForge with an engineering kit.
02:44And we have Dr. Beverly Crusher with a medical tricorder.
02:48There we go.
02:49There we go.
02:49It is.
02:50It is a box.
02:52We've got boxes and we've got bags.
02:54All right.
02:55So, bag number 25.
02:58That's a good sign for how quick of a build it's going to be.
03:0115.
03:0324.
03:04Aha.
03:0630.
03:07We have 30 bags for this thing.
03:10Okay.
03:11Yeah.
03:1219.
03:1426.
03:15I feel like a magician.
03:16I'm like, what else can I get out of this bag?
03:17We have 23.
03:20Now, through the miracle of editing, you will have seen I have moved space slightly.
03:24Gosh, isn't technology amazing?
03:27Okay.
03:27Another couple of bags here.
03:3021.
03:3022.
03:3229.
03:33I'm going to be building this thing until about the middle of Christmas.
03:36Okay.
03:3720.
03:38Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
03:39Right.
03:39Bag, bag, bag, bag, bag, bag.
03:41Okay.
03:41Right.
03:43That's the bag bit out of the box.
03:45So, now we're going to see what's in this one.
03:49Okay.
03:50I'm doing really hard not to damage.
03:51This is, I'm not always great when it comes to keeping the boxes for things.
03:57A bit of a not great history with that, if I'm honest.
04:00But this one I do want to keep.
04:02But okay.
04:03So, what's in this one?
04:06And I can tell you, this is where the weight was coming from anyway.
04:09Okay.
04:11Whoa.
04:11What's in the box?
04:15Right.
04:16Would you believe it's some more bags?
04:19Okay.
04:19Right.
04:20Bag, bag, bag.
04:23So, here's more bags here.
04:26Now, what I'm going to do as well is I will organize them all out more or less.
04:33Sorry.
04:34More or less in order.
04:37All right.
04:39Now.
04:41Okay.
04:43Right.
04:44Next, we have.
04:46Right.
04:46So, we've got some sort of black long bars there.
04:53All right.
04:56Oh.
04:57We have a stick.
05:00Can't wait to tell my friends.
05:02They don't have a stick this big.
05:03No, I like that.
05:04That's cool.
05:06Oh, we have another stick.
05:08You live in the land of sticks, I tell you.
05:10There's probably somebody out there going, Sean, stop calling it a stick.
05:14And, Joe, you'd be right.
05:17This feels instruction booklet-y.
05:20Right?
05:21Okay.
05:21Here's what we are going to do now.
05:25Right.
05:25So, 5, let's see.
05:2711, 2, or 10.
05:30So, I'm going to try and organize them into groups, I think, of 10.
05:33If we're going up as far as 30, we might do three groups of 10.
05:35I'm going to do 1 to 10 here.
05:37We'll do 11 to 20 here.
05:39Right there.
05:40There's 6, 8, 13.
05:42There's 7.
05:42There's 9.
05:448.
05:454.
05:453.
05:46Okay, so, 29.
05:47I'm not going to get to this one for a little while.
05:4829 over there.
05:5028.
05:5127.
05:5217.
05:52I hope you can hear me overall because there's a lot of moving and rustling.
05:54Let's see.
05:5518.
05:5616.
05:5720 is going to go here.
05:5822 is going to go there.
06:0021 is going to go there.
06:0123 is going to go there.
06:01I'm getting really good with my 10 here.
06:02It's like 26, 19, 30.
06:06Okay.
06:0715, 24, and 25.
06:09Oh, my goodness.
06:10Right.
06:10This is probably my weak sorted.
06:11So, next thing we're going to do is we're going to open up this instruction booklet,
06:20which has a 9, 6, right, okay.
06:25This is a, aha, that's why it's heavy.
06:28There's two booklets in here.
06:30Right.
06:31Okey-doke.
06:32Oh, oh, hang on.
06:34Let me show you this.
06:36Property of the Enterprise D.
06:39Yeah, some of those lovely go-faster stripes that are on all of the Starfleet ships.
06:46You think we don't know what they're for.
06:47And we also have that Star Trek 60 logo again.
06:53Right.
06:53So, Star Trek 60 logo is on book two.
06:57Hey, you excited?
06:59Because I am.
07:00We've got booklet one, booklet two.
07:07NCC-1701D Galaxy Class Starship designed by Andrew Probert for Star Trek The Next Generation,
07:17debuting in 1987.
07:20So, having a look through this booklet now,
07:23so a little bit of a blurb.
07:25Space, the final frontier.
07:26These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise.
07:28Its continuing mission, to explore strange new worlds,
07:32to seek out new life and new civilizations,
07:34to boldly go where no one has gone before.
07:39Where have I heard that one before?
07:42So, yeah.
07:43The Lego Group has brought us the Enterprise D first.
07:47Oh, my goodness.
07:50Oh, my goodness.
07:50It gives us a little bit of just behind the scenes.
07:54For example, specs, construction,
07:55Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards,
07:57length 641 meters,
08:00decks 42.
08:01I see you, Andy Probert.
08:03I see what you were doing there.
08:05Crew complement,
08:051014 typically,
08:08but when was there ever a typical day in the next generation?
08:11So, they've picked a selection of famous missions.
08:14So, encounter at Farpoint,
08:15the inaugural mission led the Enterprise D
08:17to the mysterious Farpoint station
08:19and the crew's first contact with the Q Continuum.
08:22Then we have Unification, parts 1 and 2.
08:25Suspecting that Ambassador Spock has gone rogue
08:27and defected to the Romulan Empire,
08:29Picard and Data go undercover on Romulus.
08:32The inner light, rendered unconscious by an alien probe,
08:35Picard lives out a lifetime as Cayman,
08:37a native of the long-destroyed world of Catan.
08:39And all good things in the series finale,
08:42the crew travels through time
08:43to prevent a cosmic anomaly
08:45reflecting on past and future events to save humanity.
08:48The USS Enterprise NCC-1701D,
08:51Starfleet's galaxy-class flagship,
08:53carries a legacy that spans centuries.
08:56In Star Trek history,
08:57it has always been a beacon of exploration and diplomacy.
09:01It is the sixth starship
09:02to bear the legendary name Enterprise on its hull,
09:05honouring a tradition dating back to old naval ships.
09:08And even the first space shuttle.
09:11Launched from Mars in 2363,
09:14it was fine-tuned at Earth Station McKinley
09:16before Captain Jean-Luc Picard took command.
09:19See, I like stuff like this.
09:22Oh, I like it.
09:23So, we have our breakdown of the characters.
09:27Look, figurines are included.
09:29Okay.
09:30And we have a little bit of a...
09:31a little bit of a blurb from these as well.
09:33Right, so, it's quotes.
09:35It's quotes from each of them.
09:36Wesley Crusher.
09:37This is all just beginning.
09:39We've only charted 19% of our galaxy.
09:42The rest is just out there waiting.
09:44My name is Guinan.
09:45I tend bar and I listen.
09:48Obviously, that's Worf's quote.
09:50There's theory and then there's application.
09:53They don't always jibe.
09:54It's the struggle that is important.
09:56That's what helps us define our place in the universe.
09:59Would you like to talk about what's bothering you
10:02or would you like to break some more furniture?
10:05Hmm.
10:06The unexpected is our normal routine.
10:08Obviously, previously we had Troy.
10:09That was Riker.
10:11Who do you think this is?
10:13I am Klingon.
10:14If you doubt it, a demonstration can be arranged.
10:17And then, I am superior, sir, in many ways.
10:20But I would gladly give it up to be human.
10:23Let's make sure history never forgets the name Enterprise.
10:27I could sit here just reading this book all day.
10:32What we're going to do is we're going to do a build video.
10:36And we're really, really excited to show it to you.
10:40We really, really are.
10:41As soon as we get this out to you.
10:44Oh, okay.
10:45If anyone is trying to message me for the next few days
10:48and I don't reply, this is why.
10:50I'm sure we've all, you know, made our own versions as kids.
10:54But we were looking forward to this.
10:55So, folks, I hope that you will join us as we put this together.
10:59From the 28th of November, 2025.
