00:17Mohali on the evening of 15 December, a shooting later claimed as alleged revenge for Sidhu
00:22Musayala. The firing took place at the Beidwan Sports Club where a four-day Kabati tournament
00:26was underway. Promoter Kavar Digvish Singh, popularly known as Rana Balachauria, was targeted
00:31by unidentified assailants who arrived on a motorcycle and approached him under the pretext
00:36of taking a selfie. Moments later, they opened fire at point-blank range, hitting him four
00:42to five times in the face and upper body. Critically injured, Rana was rushed to Fortis Hospital
00:47in Mohali where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police recovered four to five empty .32 caliber
00:52shells from the blood-soaked ground. Hours after the killing, the Bambiha gang claimed
00:57responsibility for the attack in a social media post, alleging that the victim had given shelter
01:02to those involved in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Musayala, claims that police are yet to verify.
01:07The post further alleged Rana Balachauria's links with rival gangster networks including
01:23Jakku Bhagwan Puria and Lawrence Bishnori and named the shooters as Makhan Amritsar and Karan.
01:29Investigators are also probing whether the incident is linked to a well-known Punjabi singer who was
01:34scheduled to arrive at the venue shortly before the firing. In a chilling warning, the post-threatened
01:39Kabaddi players and their parents against playing for certain teams, sparking fear across Punjab's
01:44sporting community. The killing has now triggered a major political storm in Punjab, with opposition
01:49parties targeting the ruling armed Admi party government over the deteriorating law and order situation.
