U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a USD10 bil lawsuit against the BBC, accusing the broadcaster of defamation over edited footage of a January 6 speech that he says falsely implied a call for violence.

00:32each of two claims, defamation and violation of Florida law against deceptive and unfair
00:37trade practices. The BBC has apologised for what it called an error of judgement,
00:43acknowledging the edit created a misleading impression. However, the broadcaster says
00:48there is no legal basis for the case and will fight the claim. British Minister Stephen Kinnock
00:53said the BBC was right to apologise but also right to defend itself. The controversy stems
00:58from documentary title Panorama on Trump, aired ahead of the 2024 US elections. The incident
01:04led to the resonations of two senior BBC executives. Trump has filed multiple lawsuits against media
01:11outlets in recent years, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and CBS.
