Natural Disaster Morocco: Deadly flash floods have swept through the historic old city of Safi in western Morocco, killing at least 37 people and injuring dozens more, local authorities said.
Torrential rain flooded narrow streets with mud and debris, damaging shops and trapping residents as water levels rose rapidly. Witnesses described people being swept away within minutes as businesses tried to move goods to higher ground.
Officials said more than 60 millimetres of rain fell in just three hours, overwhelming drainage systems. Rescue teams continue search and recovery operations as authorities warn of further weather instability and suspend schools across the province.
