00:00Jimmy Kimmel is set to host the 2020 Primetime Emmys for ABC, but exactly what the show will
00:05look like due to the coronavirus pandemic is still unclear. News of Kimmel's third go as
00:09MEMC comes a day after the Television Academy announced that the creative arts ceremonies
00:13would be going virtual, simultaneously acknowledging that the likely limitations
00:17brought on by COVID-19 mean the main September telecast will probably be quite different from
00:22previous years. Kimmel, who will also serve as executive producer on the event, said,
00:26I don't know where we will do this or how we will do this or even why we are doing this,
00:30but we are doing it and I am hosting it. The Primetime Emmys, originally set for the annual
00:35live telecast from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, are still set to be doled out on Sunday,
00:40September 20th. Again, airing live on both coasts, additional production details will be announced
00:44closer to the date. ABC Entertainment president Kerry Burke said of Kimmel,
00:48he's a true master of ceremonies who reveres this industry and its people, and just as Jimmy has
00:53done with his own show over the past few months, he will tackle this momentous event with heart and
00:58humor and bring some much-needed joy and optimism to our television colleagues and viewers at home.
