'Squid Game: The Challenge,' will have a record-setting $4.56 million purse.

00:10Netflix is staging what they're calling the biggest reality competition ever, a real-life Squid Game.
00:15The streamer announced a reality TV production based on its global dystopian Smash,
00:20but before you raise eyebrows, the stakes won't be life or death, presumably.
00:24Squid Game The Challenge will have 456 players competing in a series of games for the chance to win $4.56 million.
00:33Netflix claims the payout is the largest lump-sum cash prize in TV history,
00:38and that the show likewise also sports the largest competition series cast ever assembled.
00:44The announcement was made at the Banff World Media Festival by the streamer's head of global TV, Bella Bajaria.
00:49The reality competition will consist of 10 episodes.
00:52The announcement comes on the heels of Netflix officially renewing Squid Game for a second season.
