00:00Holiday travel season is upon us, and if you're headed to the airport, you've likely got your
00:04travel-sized toiletries all ready to go in those tiny little bottles. However, experts say that
00:09many products you might not consider liquids are by the TSA, meaning they will get tossed at the
00:14gate unless you prepare them accordingly. You're probably already packing lotions, body washes,
00:18and hair care products in the appropriate 3.4-ounce bottles. However, uniformed advisor for TSA
00:24security operations, Ari Jenkins, tells HuffPost that if the product is sprayable or spreadable,
00:28it will likely be confiscated as well. That includes the likes of balms or jellies,
00:33sometimes even if they are in stick form. Luckily, Jenkins notes that more modern powdered
00:38skincare products have much broader allowances, letting passengers take up to 12 ounces of the
00:43stuff. The same goes for skincare masks as well. But what about duty-free skincare items, those which
00:48are often much larger than the aforementioned 3.4 ounces? Those are okay. What isn't okay is
00:54bringing unopened packages from home that break the TSA's ounsage rules. And always remember,
00:59even if you have just a little bit of whatever left in the bottle, security agents go by container
01:03size, not liquid volume. Meaning even if the amount appears to be far under the 3.4 ounces,
01:08it will still get confiscated.
