00:00If a pirate's life is for you, Disneyland's latest change might shiver your timbers.
00:04The theme park in Anaheim is removing the bride auction scene from the classic Pirates of the
00:10Caribbean ride. The change will take place next year when the ride closes for refreshment.
00:14The attraction will also be altered at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris.
00:19Disneyland spokesperson Susie Brown said in a statement,
00:30This is not the first time the ride has been changed to be less offensive in a sexist nature.
00:44The previous switch involved pirate men chasing women, which was altered to men chasing women
00:49to get the food they have on trays. According to Disney, the redhead who is among those currently
00:53being auctioned off the moment guests come through will become a pirate when the ride is altered.
00:58For park purists who may not be in favor of the ride changing, former creative executive for
01:03Walt Disney Imagineering, Marty Sklar, who worked with Walt Disney, said of the ride,
01:07It's a story you can continue to add fun to, with great characters in new performances.
01:12That's what the Imagineers have done with this new auction scene. It's like a theater show
01:16with a new act. Be sure to check out Ryan Parker's full story on THR.com.
01:21And Disney fans, I want to hear from you. How do you feel about this change coming to the Pirates
01:25of the Caribbean ride? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments.
01:28I'm Tiffany Taylor for The Hollywood Reporter News.
