00:00Cardi B reacts to plagiarism claims. Plus, The Weeknd has a great weekend.
00:08Hey guys, it's Ali for Hollywood Life with your music roundup, starting with Courtney Cox.
00:15The actress took to social media this weekend to show off her musical talent and cover driver's
00:20license on the piano. Olivia Rodrigo reacted to one of the comments on Courtney's Instagram
00:25reel and said, yes, slay. She also posted the reel to her story and said, so good.
00:31Moving on to The Weeknd, yesterday the singer had an amazing halftime performance that still
00:35has social media buzzing. In fact, his hometown of Toronto was so proud, Mayor John Tory proclaimed
00:41that February 7th will be now known as The Weeknd Day. John took to Twitter to make the announcement
00:46and praised Abel for his accomplishments, including being the first Canadian to headline a solo
00:51halftime show and the third Canadian to take the stage at the Super Bowl in general.
00:56And if you were confused about why The Weeknd's dancers were covered in head bandages, well,
01:01it seems to have been inspired by his 2020 American Music Awards look. A look that ended
01:07in his unmasking in January to unveil a prosthetically enhanced face for his Save Your Tears music video.
01:14Now ahead of his performance, The Weeknd told Variety the significance of the entire head bandages
01:19is reflecting on the absurd culture of Hollywood celebrity and people manipulating themselves
01:26for superficial reasons to please and be validated. To Cardi B now, last week the rapper delighted
01:31fans with her new song Up, which featured a music video that left her husband Offset drooling
01:36over her. But not everyone was happy because Mir Fontaine took to social media with claims
01:41that Cardi stole his song. Well, Cardi caught wind of the claims and said, I'm the type of person
01:47that avoids problems in court days. If I get inspired by a song, I wouldn't mind giving
01:51a percentage or a couple of thousands, but I've never heard of this man. After that, she posted
01:56a clip of herself live with Megan Thee Stallion last August, where you can hear her singing
02:01the chorus of Up. Cardi said, August 7th, now go check Buddy's date. Your reply with a YouTube
02:06video and said we previewed stuff on August 6th at the end of this video and recorded it even
02:12earlier than that, respectfully. And before we close out, Drake was in a State Farm commercial.
02:17I don't really know what else to say about that, but I like the heart that he had put
02:21into his head. But alright guys, hit the sub, like, and bell button. Follow me on social
02:25media at Ali Stagnita. Stick with us for the latest. Bye guys.
