00:00amen amen amen you guys can be seated thank you guys so much for being a part of church tonight
00:10so excited to be here with you guys um my actual favorite spot right now in the living room to sit
00:18is this little like 30 tick tock shop couch that's supposed to be for esther it has like
00:24the smallest cushion that if i sit down right in front of it and lay my back i fit in it
00:29and katie was like coming back from putting the dishes in the dishwasher said you want to lay on
00:35the couch with me and she's just like no i'm going upstairs like there's a bed that we can sit on
00:41and there's a tv in there it'll be fine but uh it's funny because it like that whole situation reminds
00:46me of of moving and i i don't like moving i don't know about you guys there is a point in my life
00:54where i would move to a different place once a year right because that's naturally just sometimes how
00:59it goes depending on if you love the apartment complex you're in or anything like that so at
01:04one point i was i was in a house with roommates and i moved into a condo with roommates and then i was
01:09about to i knew that i was going to propose to katie so i moved back in with my parents to be there for a
01:14little while and then there was just this time where i was moving literally once a year and no like nobody
01:20likes to move right my brother is even worse than me that dude was moving all the time one time he
01:25moved twice in nine months and i said hey time out you get me once a year dude i said when you
01:30start overlapping i will not be here this is my warning to you right now you know what i mean and
01:36you know what's funny about that is everybody lies right when they're asking for help to move
01:41they go i don't have a lot of stuff it's like and i've had people say that to me and i look them
01:46dead in the eye and i go you do not have to lie to me i will be there but everybody has a lot of
01:51stuff also you have kids so you definitely have a lot of stuff and you just don't know like where
01:57it's at you know what i mean it's super funny but i especially during that time and it has created a
02:03habit in me now where i would live my life by these sort of principles to make my life more convenient
02:09and easier when i had to move right so for one of them for instance was new clothes i refuse to buy
02:15hangers so if i get new clothes i go into my closet and go something has to go because i'm not buying
02:23new hangers right like there's only a limited amount of hangers in here this is what i'm doing
02:27and i've tried to instill that law in my household and it's never worked right so this we just there's
02:34just always more hangers now but this was literally my strategy where i was like if i'm gonna be moving
02:38often i don't want to have a lot to move and sometimes in our own life that's the sort of
02:46perspective that we have when when god has called us to something or we're expecting a miracle and he
02:51tells us where to go right sometimes we just don't want to move we don't think we have the strength
02:57we think there's too much baggage we think that there's just just not enough willpower in us to get
03:03to where god is calling us to go right and sometimes people tease abram to abraham right
03:08they're like i know it was like credited to him as righteousness because he believed but he's not
03:14david he didn't defeat a giant he's not moses like he didn't part the red sea like all he did was move
03:19a lot and i don't know if he's as great as like all these other biblical figures and then you go hold
03:24on have you ever like had to ask anybody for help for moving it's really hard all right so let's
03:31give abraham some credit because he had way more stuff than we do when we think about it so what
03:37i wanted to talk about tonight is really working from from the title that the miracle in going or
03:43the miracle of going and what that looks like because there's a lot of moments in our life where
03:48where we are being called to is going to be a huge stretch right and we know that it's going to take a
03:55miracle but also there's moments when when you can kind of see god's fingerprints on something
04:00and you just might not have the confidence in yourself to keep going to get there where sometimes
04:05you're being called exactly like abraham was right and then there wasn't really a direction it's just
04:10i am calling you and and this is what we have so what i want to look at tonight is this story in in
04:17john chapter 4 it's of this royal official and he's somebody who understands honor very deeply because
04:23it's part of the role that he was in and he has this interaction with jesus and it sets the standard
04:30and jesus is able to teach us a principle in this moment that helps us garner some strength to exactly
04:37where we're going and this is where we're going to uh to pick up tonight so it says in in john chapter 4
04:44verse 43 it says after the two days he left for galilee now jesus himself had pointed out that a
04:52prophet has no honor in his own country when he arrived in galilee the galileans welcomed him
04:58they had seen all that he had done in jerusalem at the passover festival for they also had been there
05:05so this is always something that's so interesting to me is that we are able to look back right
05:13hindsight is always 20 20 that there are people who are experiencing jesus literally in the flesh
05:19but they couldn't honor him and they couldn't respect the position that he was in so then they
05:25didn't get access to the miracles that he's capable of doing right and sometimes we treat our
05:31relationship like jesus with jesus just like that right we have access to him right when we give our
05:37life to him we have the power of the holy spirit available to us because we've given our life
05:42to jesus but if you don't honor jesus in the positions that he's in then you're not taking
05:49advantage of the power that you have available to you does that make sense so i can believe in jesus
05:55and i can believe that his promises are yes and amen but if i don't believe them for my life it just
06:00means that they're not going to be true for my life they can be true for everybody else but until i
06:04start believing that jesus said what he said and he meant it for me too i don't get to walk in the
06:10manifestation of that and the benefit of that and this is something that we're starting to see right
06:14in a very very simple statement that jesus wasn't able to perform miracles in his own hometown why
06:20because when people looked at him all they saw was joseph's son right all they saw was a carpenter
06:26son all that they were seeing was a physical view of something that they've already known because they
06:33they grew up with him right and that's kind of it and because of that there was a limitation placed
06:39on jesus not because of jesus's own accord but of their belief so then you start to understand that
06:46there is a participation that we have to do as well as what jesus does because jesus is right he's the
06:53same yesterday today and forever so he's already made himself available to us but we have to take
06:58advantage of what is available to us and being able to walk in it in the same way it goes for how
07:04we honor our parents right there's a lot of knowledge a lot of wisdom that comes from my
07:08fathers anytime i have anything wrong with my house kitty goes can you fix that i go you bet you
07:15and then i call my dad and then i go hey dad i already told her we could do you know how to because
07:22i don't i've been watching youtube videos and they always make it seem like it's super super easy
07:27and i'm the king of like look it up on youtube right this one time the check engine light came
07:32on i went to autozone they ran a little engine scanner it came back with the code they said this
07:37is the part you need 100 bucks i was like i can do this i don't need to go to a shop i'm watching a
07:43youtube video okay the guy's talking in an australian accent okay i'm on the driver's side of the car
07:50i'm literally popping off a fender i get to where the sensor's supposed to be and it's not there
07:55and then i go oh god please no he was australian so his driver's side is on the other side of the
08:03car so i went to the passenger side of the car took off that fender and there the sensor was i was like
08:10all right i'm gonna call my dad from now on before i waste any time on youtube university right
08:16that's my dad sean he's just incredibly knows how to fix literally anything and then uh my dad roger
08:22my other dad uh my stepdad but he's raised me so i just call him dad right um he i don't think i know
08:29anybody stronger than him like at all okay and growing up he just always made it sound like it
08:34was dad strength because he had five kids you know so after i had esther and i would go to lift things
08:39and i would be around him it didn't affect me whatever the dad strength thing is it hasn't taken
08:44effect like i would stand next to my dad he's in his 50s and the stuff he does is crazy and i'll stand
08:50next to him he's always been bigger than me you guys know like spider-man when he starts to realize
08:54his powers he just starts going like this i'll like stare at my hands and be like why aren't you
08:58strong like my father it's supposed to be here by now i had a kid where is it what are we doing
09:03the benefit of who they are and what they have done is something that i get to walk in but unless i
09:11honor them i don't get to walk in that benefit right that their resource their wisdom their knowledge
09:17is always available to me but if i don't take the time to sit under them submit myself to them
09:22and honor them then that knowledge isn't going to be passed down not because they don't have it
09:27it's just because i didn't submit myself under that covering in order to receive it so in the same way
09:33this official is going to understand that and he's going to go to jesus who he's already heard about
09:40all these miracles right and it just said that these people saw jesus do miracles in the previous town
09:46so this is where we're going to pick up in in verse 46 it says once more he visited cana in galilee
09:52where he had turned the water into wine and there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at
09:59capernaum when this man heard that jesus had arrived in galilee from judea he went to him and begged him to
10:05come and heal his son who was close to death unless you people see signs and wonders jesus told him
10:12you will never believe the royal official said sir come down before my child dies jesus replied go
10:20your son will live the man took jesus at his word and departed this is really fun because this is a
10:29challenge from jesus essentially right so in verse 48 let's let's read that again it says unless you
10:35people see signs and wonders you will never believe so when you're looking at this in the greek that
10:42word for you isn't necessarily specifically targeted at this official it's just people in general and he's
10:48saying this because he understands that everybody in this town saw him do miracles previously right over
10:55the passover so the challenge that he's giving to him is this is if i don't give you any physical
11:02evidence right now for you to believe in me do you have enough faith in me that what i said will come
11:07to pass that's the challenge and that's also a challenge to somebody one who understands honor
11:13but then two doesn't have a relationship with jesus right he's not a disciple he's not sitting under the
11:18teaching day and night he's not following jesus where he's going all that he knows is the track record
11:24of success and in a moment he has to decide if that's enough and sometimes we go through situations
11:31like that in our own life right where god is calling us to something bigger to something better
11:36and honestly sometimes more difficult right because on the other side of success is always going to be
11:42work and it's going to be how well you are applying yourself how committed the discipline that you have
11:47right everybody loves going to the gym in january okay but by february they're like we're good i lasted
11:53longer than last year and i'm just one percent better you know what i mean like everybody's just like
11:58all right we're getting better so how do i take advantage of the words that jesus has said
12:05and apply them to my life right because we have an incredible opportunity right we in some cases are
12:12just like this royal official except we have the bible that's full of miracles and we have more of a
12:18track record that we can go on and then not only that we have people that we've experienced in our own
12:23lives our friends our family people inside the church that talk about the miracles that they've
12:27experienced the miracles that jesus has done in their life so sometimes the question isn't necessarily
12:33do you trust me enough without the physical evidence in front of your eyes right now right
12:39because the trust should be there right because we've seen it countless times in the bible we've seen it
12:45in our own lives and the people around us sometimes the question is more do you think that god can do it
12:52for you too and sometimes that's a difficult part because we wrestle with our own self-identity
12:58we wrestle with our our sin our shortcomings sometimes where we kind of start moving into
13:04this attitude that because you you messed up you are now you are removing yourself away from any sort
13:10of blessing that god can do in your life and what we're talking about right now is just being able to
13:14say i'm submitted to god i know that there's going to be moments where i mess up but i'm just
13:18constantly going to turn my head back to him and say i want you i choose you and i want you to move
13:23in my life in the way that you are calling me to go and sometimes we're we're going to be called into
13:29things into areas where there's not a lot of direction at all you know i've been a part of this church my
13:35entire life this is a church that i grew up in i grew up with the other pastor christian and still to
13:42this day people get us confused i still have people sometimes come up to me and they go who's
13:49your dad and then i go neither of them well we can talk about it i am the one that married into the
13:56family if you can't tell that i don't look like anybody else in the family usually but you know
14:03what's really funny about this too though is that people think that i look so much like my brother my
14:07older brother grew up in this church as well there's still people that come up to me and go
14:11hey caleb how's it going i don't have the heart to correct people so i let it happen and i have
14:18full conversations with people and they think they're talking to my brother my brother lives in
14:21washington right now he's in the coast guard so i'll call my brother after or i'll text him and be
14:26like hey um so and so things that they had a conversation with you if you have their number just text
14:30them say hey good seeing you guys today and if we've ever done that i'm sorry i'm coming clean now
14:36all right okay but don't feel bad like my mom still calls me caleb all the time too like it's
14:42just i'm used to it all right but people get me and the other pastor christian confused even in the
14:48sense that sometimes people go man did you write that song i'll take those compliments i was like yeah
14:54that was a good one right but then there's a line because some people will be like hey can you come
15:00fix this like media or sound thing i'll be like whoa whoa wrong christian wrong christian go to the
15:06other one okay you know the we've we have been a part of revival arizona and we've done a lot of
15:12outreach events and big big concert events one of the biggest ones we did was with josh baldwin and
15:18some of the group from bethel and we were at building park i don't know if it's called dobing
15:22they keep selling it to somebody else and it's all under different names but uh it was a huge night
15:28and it was it was thousands of people in there but not many people know that before the event was
15:34about to start literally the life of the event rested on my shoulders and i know nothing about
15:40media or sound or anything like that at all all right i get there early to set up chairs all right
15:47my responsibility is very simple they go you look somewhat strong we've seen your dad before you can
15:53move things so i go i'll move chairs for you that's easy okay and then suddenly there's like a giant crash
16:00and something breaks and that was the only i don't even know what it's called it was the only piece of
16:05equipment that was there that could do the job that sort of deal okay and then luckily we've uh have a
16:11great relationship with the sound company that has a lot of rentals and they do basically any giant
16:16concert in arizona they're the ones who send out the equipment for it so they're just like go to my
16:21warehouse pick up what you guys um broke and just like bring it back i said that's cool um where's your
16:27warehouse and they go it's in tempe by denny's we've talked about it north southeast west it's a
16:35little challenging for me all right so when the only directions it's not an address it's not like
16:39let me drop a pin for you goes oh it's in tempe it's by denny's i don't go to denny's that much to be
16:45honest i don't even go to tempe all that much so then i just go um west i'm just gonna head west
16:52and i just hope somebody like is gonna be able to tell me where to go so i bring this other guy with
16:57me because i know okay by the time that i get there i'm not gonna know what i'm looking at okay
17:03i miss food in my own fridge right i'll be like are you sure katie it's in the fridge she's like it's
17:08right in front of you all right so you do not want to trust me going to this giant warehouse to pick
17:13out the right equipment so we're driving in a truck i'm frustrated i have no directions and then um the
17:20the passenger is getting the directions from the guy who has the keys to the warehouse all this
17:24different stuff it's really complicated we're hitting traffic it's long we get there it is a
17:30giant piece of heavy equipment it's literally just two of us we're trying to load it into the bed of a
17:35truck and they send us to the wrong door because there's multiple doors and we just go through this
17:40whole situation we finally get everything loaded in the bed of the truck i'm hot i'm frustrated i jump
17:47in the driver's seat and mr goody two shoes over here my passenger goes man tonight is just going
17:53to be incredible and i was like calm down dude all right a little happy-go-lucky over here and he's
17:59like no think about it if the devil is working this hard to stop this event just imagine all the things
18:04that god's going to do okay media check i'm the pastor he's you know he's my directions and i was
18:12like ah good christian over here like let me be frustrated in the in the driver's seat we finally
18:18get back we get everything that they need and the guy who was giving direction because you found it
18:23easy right i said i don't want to talk to you i feel like you sent me into a direction unknown and if
18:28i didn't bring a partner with me i'd still be in tempe right now i probably would have just sat down
18:32at any random denny's and i would have just started eating i'd be like you know what this event is
18:36gonna have to go on without me this is where we're at we can't let our frustrations discontinue
18:44our effort or discontinue the voice of god in our life telling us where to go right because there's
18:50going to be moments when when we're traveling you go man i just i can't see 10 feet in front of me
18:56it's like but you can see five right we can see that god is making a way and sometimes we go out of
19:02our way to make it sound like that god when you're making your way i think it should be done like this
19:07right you guys do that right i do that sometimes we're praying we're like god i really need this
19:12miracle and just so you know it'd be really cool if you did it like this because you know i'll give
19:18you all the honor and glory because if it's done this way i'll know it's from you like regardless if
19:22it's just good and if it's like impossible it's going to be from god anyways where we start to make
19:26these uh negotiations almost that we want to say hey god i know that you're going to do what you're
19:33going to do but it would just give me some encouragement if i knew that i could like in the
19:39moment i just knew that it was you and the reality is is that we don't always get that but it's a lot
19:45easier to look back and go wow look at everything that god did and how he made a way because there's
19:49these moments that that help define us along our steps and along our journey and there's also
19:55moments too where you can look back and go that was the voice of the holy spirit and i didn't
19:59listen and that cost me some time and it cost me some resources that's not saying that god's not
20:05going to redeem the time or bring back the resources but because of my decisions now my walk is just a
20:09little bit harder now there's another step that's just a little bit more difficult and there's these
20:13things that that as we're walking and as we're going through that the miracle is already available to us
20:19right and in the same way for this official do we trust jesus do we trust god enough that we're just
20:26going to take him at his word right and it's one of those things too that you have to learn as a child
20:31when you're with your parents right there's a dad voice that comes out that you know hold on i'm gonna
20:37stop because i'm coming up to the street and it wasn't my first intention to look both ways so you
20:42have to train up your child in doing that and sometimes it feels like we get this like stern
20:47voice or guiding voice or a correcting voice from god and we get frustrated and we're like whoa what are
20:52you doing i don't i don't think that i can respond to something like that it goes that was that was a
20:57stop in your tracks let's take a breath let's look at where we're going and let's let god guide the
21:03steps because what it's going to do is going to save you time it's going to save you effort and it's
21:07going to save you heartache and as we start to look at this and we look at this rural official in
21:11Capernaum it says that he took jesus at his word and because of that everything changed for him
21:16so it goes on to say this in in verse 51 it says while he was still on the way his servants met him
21:24with the news that his boy was living when he inquired as to the time when his son got better they said
21:31to him yesterday at one in the afternoon the fever left him then the father realized that this was
21:37the exact time at which jesus had said to him your son will live so he and his whole household
21:43believed this was the second sign jesus performed after coming from judea to galilee
21:49so the miracle happened when he went right so there's going to be moments in our life when it's
21:57saying i just need you to go you might not see the benefit of going right now but by the time you
22:03get there everything is going to be resolved and your participation in your miracle is your belief
22:09and your belief establish the actions that are going to follow right so there's going to be moments
22:15where you go oh man and everybody loves to say this right it's like well faith without works is dead
22:20because he yes that's a big contextual verse that like people that it gets taken out of context a lot
22:27but what we start to realize is just this is that when you take jesus at his word that when you believe
22:34him to be consistent in who he says that he is in the miracles that he's done for other people
22:39it means that there is same miracles can also be done in your life so then as you're moving and as
22:45you're going you might not know the direction sometimes you don't even know how long you're running
22:49right you start moving you go god it would be nice if it happened now i feel like i'm sweating
22:54i've been taking a lot of steps my garmin watch is telling me i've been working too hard right i
23:00need to be able to say i've made it i've completed i've fulfilled everything that happened but the
23:06other interesting thing to me about this passage is that the good news was also brought to him
23:11that he didn't need to get to the end of the road in order to understand that god was good and that
23:16and that jesus did the miracle that he said he was going to do so what does that mean though is it
23:21means that our participation in our miracle is believing that jesus said is real and that it's
23:29true and that it's for us and that it's personal and then because of that it means that i've submitted
23:35myself and to jesus in the position that he is then i now get access to the power that he can work in my
23:42life and because of that i get to experience life in a new way that other people won't right because
23:48the reality is is that not everybody is going to submit their life to him but those who do experience
23:54a far greater life and because of that it didn't just change an individual's life it didn't just
24:00change the royal official's life it changed everybody in that family right because he believed
24:06they saw the miracle happen and then everybody else believes right you guys ever been in a moment i don't
24:13know if you guys are the same way my brain thinks in like pictures which is really funny because i went
24:18to school for business and it's just all numbers right they don't line up like at all so sometimes
24:24i'd be in class and they'd be like yeah yeah this is these are the concepts and it's numbers and i'd be
24:29like uh i'll work hard at that but then like all this abstract stuff about starting a business is
24:34literally just pictures and it's like hey put everything up on a picture board make a plan
24:38make a strategy and these are the steps this is how you're going to take the market that stuff i was
24:43good at it i was like pictures that's how my brain works let's do it so there's these moments in life
24:49while i'm experiencing a moment and i go man if this was a movie trailer i would want this moment to be in
24:54it and i don't know if you guys love movie trailers the way that i love movie trailers
24:58all right katie gets frustrated with me because before we start a new show or watch a new movie i'll watch
25:05the trailer and katie goes you're ruining all the good parts before we watch the movie and i go
25:11no this is telling me that it's good enough to spend my time to watch it all right i'm the person
25:16that wants to show up to the movie theater on time so i can watch the trailers katie could care less
25:21she was like how long are they going to be 20 minutes let's be 20 minutes late to the movie let's
25:26just like get our popcorn care if it were up to me i would be on time i would eat my whole bag of popcorn
25:31before the movie started i would just it would just be right through the trailers and then i would
25:35go fill it up this is what i do with my dad sean we'd go we'd be on time we watch all the trailers
25:39we'd finish a whole bag between the two of us then he would go back refill it and then we'd watch the
25:44movie and need another bag of popcorn and it was like the most beautiful thing ever right so because
25:50of that sort of love that i have for movie trailers that's literally how my brain sometimes
25:55will just go that's what it pictures when it goes i think that this moment is important and if anybody
26:01were ever going to look back on my life this is what i want them to remember what's funny is there's
26:07a flip side to it is because you know how all of these streaming platforms it's all in the algorithm
26:12that whatever you watch and now recommends things for you to watch as well katie the angel that she is
26:19um i don't watch any of esther shows on my profiles because i don't want it to mess in my algorithm
26:26i really don't like we'll be esther will wake up from a nap and it's time like she'll like
26:32we she's a princess all right we give her her juice we give her a snack and she takes her time to wake
26:37up and we put on a show she's enjoying it if i'm like watching something and it's on my profile i will
26:43exit out of everything and i will go to katie's profile and she's like what are you doing i said you
26:48don't understand i value my time right i was like if i sit down i don't want to be sifting through
26:53good for me good for esther good for me i just wanted to just be me she goes well why my profile
26:58i was like it's very easy it's just not mine and that's it that's like the only rationale behind it
27:03it's not deep it's all i was like this is really this is all we're doing and we're i'm so picky right
27:09about this but then i'm also so willing to be like this moment right here this would change everything
27:14if somebody looked back on it and there's miracles that i've experienced in my life
27:18and honestly there's there's been times when i talked to people from from college or from high
27:24school and like oh wow you're you're definitely different now than you were back then and it wasn't
27:28like i was crazy or anything but i was like well i would hope so i don't want to be the same that i was
27:34like 10 years ago like that just doesn't feel like it's a good thing but what's very interesting is
27:39that every time i get into these conversations people just ask me about life and it's so easy
27:44to tell them about how amazing my family is how amazing work is how amazing the church is how
27:49fulfilled that i feel because it doesn't necessarily have to do only with the day-to-day but it's just
27:56god's movement in my life that i can continue to point and go yep that's god oh yes that's god
28:01there's god doing a miracle again in me in my world in my community and the people around me
28:06and it's so easy to say that right when somebody else asks when they're the ones to bring it up
28:14and that's how i felt a lot of the time too about evangelism my my little sister is somebody who
28:20actually goes to asu campus and will just start up a conversation with random people walk down this
28:27sort of word track and eventually lead them to the point where she's like what do you want to
28:30step jesus into your heart right now and i go really how do you do that you sit down with coffee
28:36for them three weeks like beforehand and say hey i'm gonna pop a question later on just pray about it
28:41think about it you know what i mean that's my personality that if i want to show jesus to somebody
28:46a lot of time i go well i just want to have a relationship with them first so there's a foundation
28:50so they don't just think that i'm just trying to spring jesus on them and get them saved and then
28:55leave them alone like that sort of like they're not just a number but what's funny about that is
28:58that just my that's just my own limitation on it that's just my own perspective in my little
29:03sister's mind she goes what if this is the only opportunity that they get and it's just up to me
29:07to be willing to do it i was like yeah that changes everything i'm glad you're doing it though because
29:11i don't know that that's my gifting i was like so i'll support you i'll pray with you i'm gonna learn
29:16some stuff from you and you start to understand that we're all running in our own lanes that there's
29:22giftings that there's talents that there's certain graces that have been given to us and as soon as
29:26you're confident in them it's a lot easier to take a first step right and sometimes the confidence is
29:32just faking it till you make it and sometimes it goes no i have seen god work in my life so many
29:38times before this moment that he's not going to be any different now i don't need to know the the how
29:45the what the when i just know why and it's just because god said so and i'm going to take him at
29:50his word and i know that that is going to be enough because what's really interesting is
29:55depending on the theologian and the historian that you talk to or you read some of their works
30:01the the 40-year journey that the israelites went through in the wilderness when you count up the
30:07miles right that at most is supposed to be like 10 to 14 day trip 40 years
30:15why there's a lot of details going on right there is a generation of complainers who couldn't get to
30:23the promised land because of their attitude and they couldn't submit themselves to god
30:27so as i we have to wait for this generation to to pass off for a new generation that submitted to god
30:32to go but then there's there's this other part to it that you start to go away i don't i don't want
30:38to be in this generation of complainers i don't want to be in the generation where we can have
30:44moses go up the mountain and bring us the the 10 commandments because we asked for the law and
30:51then it came down and then i still can't believe that jesus or god at this point is going to do what
30:57he said he was going to do we have those same struggles right a new bill comes up i've had those
31:05right after esther like hospital bills i would just get random emails i'd be like i thought we were done
31:11with this why does this number keep going up like every month i thought we were settled like what
31:15are we doing so it got to the point i would just look at an email i'd be like no way all right that's
31:21god's problem moving on and i would just like forget about it i was like oh when they call when they call
31:27we'll start addressing that one you know what i mean there's moments when you go man there's this car
31:33note it's a lot bigger than i expected or i was driving a truck during covid and gas kept going up
31:40and i was like dang i used to fill up for like 40 bucks now 70 later i was like this truck life ain't
31:47for me i was like no i'm just kidding i love a truck but we do that we go through moments where
31:52all of a sudden money will get tight or the vision that we have for tomorrow starts to get blurred
31:57because we just can't see past the mountain in front of us and the whole entire time we get to
32:04walk with jesus we get to walk with our help of the holy spirit and we don't always give our ear to
32:09them we just go oh i have to figure this out in my own strength no wonder you have the weight of the
32:14world on your shoulders you're not supposed to carry it you were meant for relationship and you were
32:19meant to be with your father and have him guide your steps because when you start walking hand in hand
32:25with him you start to realize that no life isn't just going to be sunshine and rainbows right the
32:31promised land still had giants but it didn't mean that the promised land wasn't theirs that there are
32:37things that we have to walk through and step through because it's building us and it's building
32:42our faith and whatever ground that we take is ground that the people who come after us right
32:47they will never have to fight for again so that's the confidence that i have that's the confidence
32:52that i walk in do i feel like that every single day no there's going to be moments where it's tough
32:58and i have to capture my thoughts right but the great thing about capturing your thoughts is sometimes
33:03we go oh that's a terrible thought to have but you can't capture a thought in the first place if it
33:08doesn't come up right so it's not the fact that it came up it's just we just we're not going to dwell
33:14on it we're not going to let this thought suddenly become the truth that is ruling in our life i'm going
33:19to commit myself to what god says about this situation what god says about me and that's the
33:24truth that i'm going to let guide me every step of the way that i'm going so on the other side of
33:30your miracle to get there is taking jesus at his word and saying because you said it i believe it
33:38because you said it i will do it and i might not always know the direction i might not know the time
33:44frame of how long this walk is going to be and it might feel like a hike it might feel like
33:49there's some hills where there's some very difficult days you might feel like there's
33:53some some easy moments right where you fit a plateau and you go okay like i've caught my stride
33:58i think i understand what god is doing in my life and then something different changes but what is
34:03never going to change is the way that god loves you the gift that he has already made available to
34:10all of us through jesus and the holy spirit and then because of that we get to walk into confidence
34:15just like this royal official did right except we have even more reason to believe it because we
34:22have the bible and we have our experiences and we have the people who are in this church who have
34:26experienced miracles right i just talked to a gentleman last last week on sunday he pulled me
34:32aside he was so excited he said he goes so i was just in the hospital um my stint like saved my pacemaker
34:42saved my life i had a heart attack not a good thing but praise god and i was like well you're here
34:49that's good we're talking obviously there's already a miracle that happened he wasn't even focused on that
34:54situation he goes because they had to go to the doctors they did all these checks again and because i'm
35:00going through cancer treatments because i got there because of everything that was happening with my
35:05heart i was able to hear that because pastor jason and pastor kelly prayed for me and because of the
35:11work that jesus did through them i am cancer free and i was like what
35:17that's your confidence you had a heart attack you're like yes cancer free like doesn't even address
35:24the heart attack he goes what god did in my life what god is doing for people in this church
35:30right it's available to you too and that's the encouragement that no matter where you are in your
35:37walk that jesus has made himself available to you that you have a power that is inside of you
35:43and you also have an incredible friend mentor guide everything that you could possibly need
35:50he's available to you right now if you guys want to value it and close your eyes i just want to pray for you
35:54god thank you for tonight thank you for the relationship that you have established through
36:00your son jesus thank you for the gift that keeps on giving for the life that we are living knowing that
36:06there is goodness still in store for us thank you that who you are will always be more than enough
36:13that the resource that the provision that we know it all comes from you that in moments where it's
36:19difficult and we're trying to capture our thoughts whatever the stress of the day might be or the
36:23world around us that we know that you make a way when it feels like there is no way that we know
36:28that who you are and what you have said will come to pass and that we are confident in your ability
36:35and also your character that you are the same the yesterday today and forever in jesus name amen amen
36:43hey well we we never want to end the service without giving everybody the opportunity to
36:47receive the greatest gift that anybody has ever received in the world and that's the gift of jesus
36:53the bible talks about that if you acknowledge god as the father and jesus as the son that if
36:57you ask for forgiveness and you ask him to be the lord of your life and that you give your life to him
37:02that that's it that's the only requirement that there is to get into heaven to secure your eternity
37:07of course we follow rules and principles right so that we can experience heaven here on earth so that
37:12we can have a better christian walk because the the life that jesus has for us is a lot better than the
37:17world has to offer but it's never been based on works it's always just been based on receiving
37:22this free gift so you guys can do me a favor and just bow your heads one last time and if it's your
37:28if it's your first time praying this uh tonight or maybe you're rededicating this portion of your life
37:33back to god i just want to do something i'll never call you out i don't want to embarrass you i just want
37:38to create an opportunity where i can share in this moment with you be excited with you happy for you
37:44so if you're saying this for the first time we're dedicating this portion of your life back to him
37:48can you raise your hand
37:49so nobody feels embarrassed everybody just please repeat after me god thank you for tonight

38:04jesus to die on the cross for me i ask you to come into my life
38:10be my lord and my savior

39:46we are going to give 150 kids in need
39:49new sneakers
39:50a backpack
39:51and school supplies
39:52to start the year off right
39:53and so what we need from you

39:55is to donate those supplies
39:57so that we can do this for the community
