Transcript
00:00In the twilight of the age of bronze, when the gods still whispered to kings and heroes rode into battle beneath banners kissed by flame,
00:07there lived a prince of Troy, Hector, son of Priam, tamer of horses and shield of his people.
00:12Born beneath a sky heavy with omens, Hector's first breath stirred the mane of a stallion tethered outside the gates of Ilium.
00:18The priest spoke of winds bearing prophecy, and the seers foretold that the boy would one day bear the weight of Troy upon his shoulders, as Atlas held up the heavens.
00:26From his youth, Hector showed no interest in idle luxury. He rode before he could walk, raced the wind across the plains of the Scamander,
00:33and whispered to horses with a voice that calmed storms in their hearts.
00:37None in Ilium, not even the aging master Akepilus, could match his skill.
00:41When his fingers gripped the reins, the beasts danced like gods possessed them, but it was not only horses he tamed.
00:47When Troy was threatened by raiders from Thrace, Hector led a charge that scattered them like chaff before the scythe.
00:53Though young, he wielded his spear with the judgment of an old war god.
00:57His shield, white as a moon and twice as luminous in battle, wore the mark of Apollo, a gift said to have been etched by the god himself in dreams.
01:05Then came the war. A war that would echo through eternity.
01:10Helen, fairest of women, was taken from Sparta.
01:13And Agamemnon, king of men, summoned the hosts of Achaia.
01:16A thousand ships beached on Trojan shores like a tide summoned by wrath.
01:21The war drums pounded like the heartbeat of Ares, and from across the sea came heroes of renown, Odysseus of Wiles, Ajax the Towering, and Achilles, Lion of the Mermidians.
01:30But against them stood Hector.
01:32Not for glory. Not for conquest.
01:35But for duty.
01:36Year upon year the war dragged on.
01:38Each morning, Hector donned his armor, kissed his wife Andromache, and lifted his infant son to the rising sun.
01:44Then he rode out to meet the day's death.
01:47His chariot will scarred the battlefield, And where his spear pointed, men either fled or fell.
01:52None could rival him.
01:53He slew Protessilaus upon his first step upon Trojan soil.
01:57He cast down Patroclus, Though the youth wore the armor of Achilles.
02:00And he held the western gate alone, With only his courage and sword.
02:04Yet destiny sharpened its blade.
02:06For Achilles returned, Lazing in wrath like Helios reborn, And sought vengeance for Patroclus.
02:12The gods watched in silence As the two titans clashed beneath the walls of Troy, A duel written in blood and thunder.
02:18Hector fought with the fury of a dying star.
02:21But fate is a charioteer no man may unseat.
02:24Struck down by Achilles, His final breath rose in a whisper to the wind.
02:28Not for mercy.
02:29Not for fear.
02:30But for the future of Troy.
02:31And Hector's tale did not end with his fall.
02:34The Trojans wept.
02:35The Achaeans marveled.
02:36Even Achilles, storm-hearted and burning with grief, Returned Hector's body to King Priam in a moment of God-touched mercy.
02:43And the horses of Troy, Those noble beasts he had once tamed, Refused to eat for days.
02:48They stood by the stables with heads bowed, As if mourning their master.
02:52In the years to come, Bards sang of Hector not as a conqueror, But as a protector.
02:57His courage, his loyalty, And his love for his people outshone all else.
03:01Where others saw Cleos, glory, He lived for something nobler, Peace, and soul.
03:06In Ilion, where the stars fall slow And the wind speaks ancient names,
03:10Hector rides still in legend, The tamer of horses, The shield of Troy,
03:14The prince who stood when all others fell.
