00:00Hey everybody it's Rick Rawlings we're back with Wings Over Flanders Fields and we've gone
00:12from over to the top to the last hurrah so I picked up the latest update the DLC so we're
00:21gonna get right back into it it's a few things have changed but we'll take a look in game
00:24so we're back flying with major Rick Rawlings 58 missions so far midsummer 1918 and we're going
00:41to get a mission up and running here and then I'll bring you back all right well the
00:48ground crew preparing flights thing is not been addressed it still takes forever but we do have
00:56a mission here doing a rail yard attack which of course always goes well hey let's take a look at
01:00this new map a new map to take a look at that looks pretty nice we're still going to mess around with
01:09our waypoints though so this waypoint right here we're not going to we're going to not for attacking
01:19the rail yard at these Junction there we are not going to be crossing the front at 14,500 feet so
01:26we're instead going to go go up waypoint altitude we'll say I don't know let's do 3,500 and then for the
01:43waypoint one which we will now move closer to the front we'll put that at 6,500 seems like a safe this
02:03seems safe see for altitude across the front at for flying and then we'll go see we've got give
02:13everybody some bombs because if you're going to attack an air or a rail yard why not use some
02:18bombs so we'll take some bombs and I think that's it just head off to the field find out what's going
02:24on all right here we are on the field we've got it's like the whole squadron going up there
02:31and
02:34let's have some stuff like uh people oh yeah there's some guys over there doing some stuff but now I
02:40can't ah let me get going I can't really see anything with the plane all bobbing around so
02:45maybe when we uh land we'll check it out somebody with the car
02:52I think in some some ways the cars I mean the planes were probably more advanced than the cars were at
03:00at this point
03:05cows cows were more advanced definitely had more advanced cows
03:11all right well uh we will get going there
03:16kind of see some guys working on a plane right there a little hard to tell we'll see when we get back

03:29and head off and then bring you back once we uh
03:34find some stuff very few clouds
03:40all right so one of the things they changed was the water they gave it a more watery look
03:45as they did but I have found a few glitches in the matrix so if you don't know if you can see this but
03:53like these now and again you'll find some places where you have these uh sort of anomalies
03:58in the water I did report this one only because I'm flying right by it coming out of this airfield
04:06um they are aware of it I heard that for the moment this is what what we're getting
04:11uh but I'm sure that at some point they will probably go through and clean up some of these spots
04:17what's good though it's good good looking water otherwise

04:31all right we're rolling we're across the front here we're kind of rolling in on our airport I'm
04:34trying to remember all of my tac commands so shift t brings the tac up and then I've now figured out
04:43that control shift t changes the scale so if you look at the bottom you'll see the scale keeps changing
04:51let's get into like maybe the 1.1 was pretty good there and then just t itself changes what you
04:59focus on and then tab will cycle through the objects within that so right now I'm doing structures
05:081.1 nautical mile pack
05:12and then I gotta get close enough to the
05:16there's the junction
05:22expect the junction to target it
05:24which I'm a little nervous because there's uh where's the balloon right there
05:32balloon right there and junctions right there
05:43so
05:45uh-oh and then these guys are what are these guys doing

06:10which there probably is I don't see him I'm going to give uh well I'm gonna let those guys do their

06:52one nice thing about it is if you find the rail line which is that

07:08but if you find the rail line you can follow it directly in

07:14if it's screaming in here it's like there's d7s afoot

08:24so this is turning into a real messed up mission here

09:40we do have the nice little the pauses have those short little triangular tails which are kind of nice

10:35not least of all because there is a visible you can see i don't know if you can see it but there is a

10:49tether that connects it to the ground and you can run into that
10:51so i don't know if you can you should be able to see it there but there is an actual line that connects
10:56it to the ground and you can collide with it so oh
11:03you should probably be paying attention to my flying and not worrying about the
11:14telling you the history of balloon wires
11:15i don't know if anybody wants to clear my six idea okay
11:26probably bought out a lewis drum ammunition

11:35artillery guys on the ground there i don't see them at the moment

20:17At any rate, they're kind of on their own because if my plane, I don't want my plane to clonk out over any lines.
20:30So I'm going to get up, find a friendly airfield and then I'll bring the RPMs back a little bit.
20:43He's up on her and then have you in for a landing if we make it that far.
20:49I guess I made it back across the lines.
20:54I'm going to land at the nearest airfield which seems to be what other, seems to be the same conclusion that other people have come to because there they are.
21:05Let's see if I can extend out my, not hit the fences.
21:11And then a little low, which is something you just have to do when you land.
21:18Just hold over the fences.
21:23Watch out for the trees.
21:27A little boost of power there.
21:30And then hold it, hold it, hold it, watch out for the other guys.

21:44This guy who's just stopping in the middle of the, for some reason.

22:00Then we're going to give those guys a moment to everybody else.
22:04If you, when you end missions, you should try to let your flight get back over friendly lines.
22:08If they are still flying over enemy lines, which as we saw, those guys were still flying around out there, some of them.
22:17It makes them more likely to be lost.
22:20Sometimes they'll come back.
22:21Sometimes they'll be missing in action and they'll find their way back across the lines.
22:24But it's always best to wait for them to get back in friendly territory if you can.
22:28Uh, let's take a moment to just talk about the latest update here.
22:32So, if you were to purchase the base game, Rings Over Planers Fields, the first DLC over the top, and the second DLC, the last hurrah.
22:43Um, I think you would be in, I think you're north of a hundred dollars.
22:48Not a lot north, but still.
22:50And that's a lot, which I understand.
22:52Um, it's, I think it's still cheaper than if you get all of the Flying Circus, uh, batches, bundles, whatever.
23:06If you don't get them on sale.
23:09So I think they're, I think it's a reasonable, sort of what you get versus what you pay is reasonable.
23:15Um, and if I, for me at least, if I amortize it over the hours and hours and hours that I have played the game,
23:23it's literally pennies per hour.
23:26Um, but the good news is that if you don't want to get them, let's kill the engine here.
23:35If you don't want to get them all at once, you can certainly, um, hey guys.
23:45Certainly just get the base game.
23:47I would recommend the over the top too, because it really, like the whole horizon thing is amazing.
23:55Like just the, with the base game, I used to not like to play on cloudless days because the sky in the base game is just kind of meh.
24:03You know, it's just this sort of solid blue, saturated blue.
24:08Um, the sky once here is, is much better.
24:11I don't mind if there's no clouds at all.
24:13It feels much better and it reads much better.
24:16It reads much more like sky than a weird skybox effect.
24:19So if you can swing the base game in the, at least the over the top edition, I'd recommend that.
24:25And then you can pick up the last hurrah later on if you want, if you're a completionist.
24:30Seems pretty good so far.
24:32I'll, I'll, we'll take more looks as we go further on.
24:34So I'm just going to wait here.
24:36The system failure, I guess so I shut my engine off maybe.
24:39Um, wait here for everybody to get back and then head off to the debrief.
